Hi all!! I’m gonna try and keep this fairly simple and to the point, I am craving a good solavellan rp, where I would be playing my Lavellan, Veira! I go by Glimmer, I use she/they pronouns, and I’m 20! I’m newer to the dragon age fandom, and I have only played inquisition so far, but I have utterly fallen in love with the world and the lore, not to mention the characters. I’m looking for someone 18+ (that part is non negotiable) who will be happy to chat ooc, exchange dumb headcannons about our characters, or videos or images that we find that remind us of them. I would prefer that we write in third person, but I’m happy for the length to vary from Semi-lit (think one paragraph) all the way to novella. I just want to have fun, more than anything else - build a world and a plot we both enjoy, mess around with our characters and have a good time! I’m happy to write NSFW, but I will ask that we go 70% plot, 30% smut, or something along those lines. If you’re interested, reach out to me here or on my discord glimmeringtrickster. Timetravel misadventures - perhaps instead of Dorian and the inquisitor being sent forward in time, the spell could have been miscast in a much more dangerous way. Perhaps it sent the inquisitor (with either Dorian, alone, or with Solas) back to the time of the ancient Elvhes. If she is sent back with Dorian or alone, perhaps she comes face to face with the older version of Solas - with Fen’Harel. A much different version of the elf she is growing to care for, and a much different side of him. If she goes back with Solas himself, I imagine him coming into contact with his old self and the issues of his world might unsettle him, make him uncomfortable. Especially if the inquisitor were to see all of that - all while trying to find a way back to their own time, together.

The dread wolf’s reincarnated lover - a good ol’ reincarnation plot. Solas’s lover from his own world who died when he doomed the world is reincarnated within the inquisitor - she doesn’t have any of her memories at first, but they very slowly start to come back to her, at first through feelings of familiarity and dreams. Solas might recognise her immediately - perhaps they’re identical, perhaps it’s her soul itself that he recognises instantly. Either way, his plans have just become a whole lot more difficult to carry out, given he’ll be killing his love all over again.

I hope in Veilguard there's an option to roleplay a Lavellan Inquisitor who romanced Solas but doesn't want to be with him romantically anymore and sees him as a friend they want to help.

I think my current Inquisitor faces the Revelations and remembers all the stuff he said that she gave him benefit of doubt for cause to her he lived the life of a hounded, isolated apostate: the condescension towards qunari and dwarves (ESPECIALLY Varric whom she feels lifelong indebted to for leaving his friend in the Fade), his lack of patience with anyone even slightly different opinioned (like Sera whom she views as a little sister), him being dismissive towards the Dalish in the particular way he is...he comes around on a lot of things in his own stubborn way but I think at some point it becomes too much? To handle and the tangles of duty towards all her other friends, family, the organization she lead and the lives it touched for better or worse become too difficult to separate from continuing to try to be with somebody who kept so much from her. I think for her it's fatigue from trying to make everyone happy and safe and there's a guy who just so badly wants to be miserable, it tires a woman out.

She still would see him absolutely as a friend and try her darndest to bring out the best in him, would definitely believe in redeeming him and wouldn't support killing or harming him. Just let me do a friends to lovers to frenemies to friends again is what I'm saying!

as a confirmed solavellan enjoyer i liked the ending, but i do wish there was more actual talking to solas

like… we take the time to make our inquisitor. we customize them as close as we can manage, and we confirmed we put in the time to romance the guy. wouldn’t it be so sweet to be able to roleplay as them once more? to talk through the options? one conversation wheel.

and for non-romancers, to be able to have that final confrontation, good or bad, to really tell solas how you feel about him. does he get to walk into the sunset? does he have to confront the wolf inside?

You know about whole "we wanted blank state" once again. My Warden died. Like literally. Completely. She refused to help Morrigan with a child and sacrificed herself, killing an archdemon. Alistair mourned her, Zevran had no lovers after her, what a sad story, yeah

BUT

Her grave is at Weisshaupt, like all warden's, who made an ultimate sacrifice. And when I heard we will visit Weisshaupt, i thought something like "wow, i'll see grave of my first protagonist! Cool!". But I won't.

Because for Busche and others choices before their precious fanfiction about Wolf and Halla don't matter. They don't care about warden, Hawke or anything beside solavellan and how sad it is, wow such a tragic romance, she wants to save him from himself((999((

That's the harsh truth. That is why all our backgrounds are the same, why even as Crow you still have this "you saved people" shit and Crows even didn't try to kill you for such failure. Because Busche, Weeks and others don't want you to roleplay in roleplay game, they want you to see hero they created and allowed you to give this hero your appearance (until you're a woman. If you're a woman, then sorry, you will have man's body, because poor little studio couldn't make good female body model, let's pity them). They don't want to continue stories of your inquisitors, of world you created, they want everybody to play in their fanfiction about Solas, found family and other shit.

I won't buy this game, because I don't want to invest in such a slap in my face. I didn't care about Solas before, he was just an annoying bald man who i will need to kill, but now? I hate him and I hope this game will fall as it deserves, because if it won't, studios will learn this lesson. They will remember you can basically split in faces of most fanbase and they will still buy your shit and protect you.

so I'm sharing some carly lore with you here and it is that I was mildly into marvel back like.... avengers era? 2012-2013. i stopped watching the movies but i did do a lot of loki roleplay and read a lot of loki smut. i was fifteen and im willing to admit this. i feel like this one of those things that is clockable anyway, like when you can just tell someone wasn't allowed to watch spongebob as a kid.

anyway a Mainstay of loki smut was the thing he did in. idk one of the movies. where he could make duplicates of himself in order to torment his enemies. horny teenagers saw that and went "hm. getting fucked by eight of the same guy at once."

my point here is: i think we should borrow this concept for whatever freaky fade sex is imminent for solavellan.

Solavellan is good because Solas is already a polarising character deeply embedded in the worldbuilding, so knowing that they stumbled into it, essentially at the behest of one female employee (I don't remember the full story), and during the extra extended year of development in DA:I, makes a lot of sense. Like it was always going to be an interesting and compelling romance, or at least an exciting idea and not just simply romance as a reward, because surrounding Solas are a lot of potent ideas (freedom, beguilement, power and godhood, the elves alone) which open up many opportunities for player engagement and to expand upon the narrative and worldbuilding.

There's a lot of room for roleplaying too, which I think is a critically understated component, because of two major twists with the romance (the vallaslin and then Trespasser's whole deal), where what Lavellan believes, and how she's hurt by him, really matter. Is it a tragic romance or a betrayal story? Or both? One of the really disappointing things about online discourse is that the question is always 'is it or is not okay to like Solas'. It's never focussed on 'why is Solas such a polarising character?' which I think is really compelling. Do you buy that he really, absolutely believes in freedom at all costs? Do you think he's proud? Do you think he's a liar? Is he right? All of that makes for genuinely good roleplaying! It's a video game!

I ended up making a Lavellan instead of the Adaar I played over the summer. Just this week my therapist was telling me to be kind to my inner child because she's still in there, and she would be inconsolable if she knew I didn't really care about Solavellan anymore by the time DA4 got here.

So now I don't really know anything about my world state lol. I keep thinking about Hawke, but idk who they are. Maybe that makes for a good first run, I can roleplay better instead of just another hero. My Rook is also probably vaguely aware of Hawke without any detail.

Here's mine!

Rook: Juniper Aldwir, a dalish elf mage, I mostly went for the direct/aggressive dialogue options with a few of the more positive/nicer or joke-y options in companion convos. I went with the spellblade specialization and ended up loving it after a rough mage start. I also played arcane warrior/knight enchanter my first DAO and DAI runs though so. lmao. i have a type.

Faction: Veil jumpers! How could I not go with the scientific study of weird magic group... I've decided she's more on the geography and cartography side of the profession rather than mechanics/tinkering like Bellara, which is why she's not the one fixing the broken objects you encounter herself. I imagine she's the one drawing maps of all the places you go, making notes of interesting landmarks/items, etc. the crossroads drives her insane (bc it drives ME insane) because of the weird half reality half fade logic to the locations, travel, etc.

Companions/NPCs: My go to companion squad was Lucanis and Davrin or Taash for the best combos/fighting, and Emmrich because I enjoyed his comments/character a lot too. NPC wise, of course finally seeing FELASSAN!!! was great and he got so much more content and dialogue than I expected. was cheering every time i found another codex entry from him, and the Betrayal fight ruled. otherwise, like most everyone else i LOOOOVEEEE Teai & Viagos Divorced Energy... i'm obsessed. And then Antoine & Evka for actually wholesome, and Vorgoth bc idk wtf is up there but its sexy. but also THE CARETAKER what IS it... i have so many questions... that i will be filling in with weird headcanons probably. I also liked listening in on the two fledgling crows on the balcony who have a ton of unique banters, and a couple other npc banter points idk how to describe lmao. Some of the spirit ones in the crossroads I wish we got more of.

Romance: Lucanis my BELOVED obviously i am doing... an insane amount of lucanisposting lately... yeah I've got the full brainworms. even though the game itself was lacking in content my neurons are instead working overtime to try to fill in everything the game left out

Major decisions: I saved Treviso because Minrathous JUST had its turn being saved, shouldn't they like??? be mobilizing the ARMY they actually have over there by now??? they should have been better prepared idk what else to say. insane it got hit a 3rd time at the end anyway so i stand by my choice in picking Antiva. As for the companion endings, I felt most didn't really make a difference to me, with the exception of Emmrich. I kept manfred on this run becuase I was NOT ready to say goodbye to my gentle skeleton son 😭 next game i will romance Emmrich and make him a lich tho. As for the ending... I sent Harding to lead the second squad and Neve was the one who got mirror-kidnapped. Whcih did leave for an absolutely devastating post-Nightmare-In-Dreamland fade sequence where Rook suddenly had NONE of the companions she started the game with. Getting hit with losing Harding, losing Neve, and then the realization that Varric had been dead the whole time definitely makes for some angsty roleplay opportunity, though I do wanna replay it with Bellara in the final position just so I can watch her stand up to the gods, because i think that'd be pretty great. Ending-wise: I'm a Solavellan fool who's been pining for a real life decade now almost so I of course went for that lmao. I will play through all the other options just for the drama of it all, and probably come up with some adjusted exact sequence for how things go as a headcanon, but yeah.

The appeal of anything other than Solavellan comes from the fact that this romance isn't written exclusive, it's hard-codded into one. Meaning it restricts your roleplay in an actual RPG. People were destined to riot.

Friendly route with Solas aside from saliva exchange is identical to romance! And while we're free to flirt with anyone (I personally love flirting with male exclusive LIs as a gal and they approve) but him (and Cullen I think? Last minute additions my ass) because the code says so, even the final "exclusive" scene can be rewritten with other 'secrets from before' to fit any race.

hellooo. my name is katie, i’m 21+ yo, i work a fulltime job and i have five cats and a dog with my partner in crime and girlfriend. i do have 12 years of experience in the rp community both on and off tumblr (christ), and while i have tried to find a platform that suits my needs, i have come to the conclusion that tumblr is really the only place to find people like me, so i am opening up a ... roleplay partner call.
