as far as gemstones go, diamonds are kinda d tier. sure, they're really cool for industrial applications but aesthetically, they're boring. even an emerald or a sapphire has some color. and opal is just gorgeous and comes in all sorts of stunning colors. i don't understand what's so special about diamonds for rings other than their price.

#i personally would much prefer an opal ring #and likely if i get married i will request that should my lover wish to buy me an engagement ring #that they make it a synthetic opal ring #and of course for everyday where can't go wrong with gold plated titanium or silicone #get me a cool silicone wedding ring to prove that you know that i'm too practical to wear jewelry i'll need to take off super often #also speaking of wedding rings #one time my mom broke her hand and of course she was wearing her gemless wedding band because she's always wearing her wedding band #and it got stuck and now i think she can't ever take it off #so if she ever needs to take it off for an MRI it'll need to be cut off and repaired #fun stuff
