I'm calling alkaline hydrolysis (water cremation) on this one.
No easy-to-locate bodies
Spare immersion heating cylinder
KOH (required) is a paint stripper, so would either already be on hand or raise no flags to purchase for a painter
Very wet paint
Over wallpaper: painting has a purpose other than redecorating
Victim's genetic material on the walls anyway, why would more be suspicious?
Paint would mask the smell (or incorporate it into what'd already be expected?)
Conclusion: dispose of the bodies by painting your house with them???

I’m reading A Study In Scarlet and I understand now what that poster meant about Holmes not having any asshole energy at all, but radiating absolutely lethal levels of bitch energy

"He seems a very amiable person," said Holmes, laughing. "I am not quite so bulky, but if he had remained I might have shown him that my grip was not much more feeble than his own." As he spoke he picked up the steel poker and, with a sudden effort, straightened it out again.

The 'Heck yeah!' riff on this exchange (by @jabbagealt) is obviously silly but it made me go back to it because! Holmes really likes it when people are able to follow his reasoning/figure things out for themselves! You see it most often when Watson links together information given to him, even when the conclusion is obvious Holmes enjoys seeing people put solutions together.
I love that about him, it's cute :)

I started watching some of the Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes films and the thing I like so far about his portrayal is that he balances out a lot of character traits of Holmes that I think can be a bit grating in certain portrayals.
He’s an intelligent, brilliant man, and he’s very confident in that, but he’s also got this gentlemanly quality to him that keeps him from ever being a little too smug, even though half these scenes you know he’s being coy about what he knows or suspects about the case. Just the right balance of “Yes, I’m brilliant” without being entirely obnoxious about it.

John: “Do we need to have a conversation about tone of voice again”
Sherlock:
Tumblr media
Sometimes Sherlock’s and John’s interactions sound like a parent admonishing a toddler but they take turns being the parent and the toddler
John: “Say please… Say thank you”
John: “You go to your room
Sherlock: “no”
John: “I won’t tell you again”
Sherlock: “Go to the bathroom John you’re fidgeting”

My personal "BBC Sherlock phone charger scene" is that scene in AMC IWTV where Lestat is teaching Louis to read minds and says that all human thoughts can be boiled down to "I want food, I want sex, I want to go home." Now every single time I think "I'm hungry" or "I'm horny" or "I want to go home" fucking Lestat pops into my head with his stupid french accent and a smug expression on his stupid face, and I want to rip him out of my head and throw him out the nearest window. He fucking haunts me.

I don’t think I can emphasize enough just how much Elementary understood the core of Sherlock Holmes’ character, and the kind of cases and people he is drawn to, right from the very first episode.
The pilot opens with a wealthy woman’s murder. The prime suspect is a man who is a patient of the woman’s husband, a doctor, for help with his mental disorder. The man is desperately trying to avoid any triggers that may cause him to become violent, as he has been in the past. The doctor decides to use this man as a tool to kill his wife to collect her life insurance. He manipulates both his patient and his wife, alters the man’s medications, and ignores the man’s pleas for help, in order to set a scenario that is guaranteed to trigger the man’s violence - resulting in his wife’s death and later his patient’s.
When Sherlock pieces this together, he confronts the doctor, which leads to this:

And that’s what drives Sherlock to confront the doctor directly. There’s no smugness in being right, or for figuring out who the murderer was and how he did it. Sherlock realizes that this man’s patient was just another victim - someone who desperately wanted and sought help, only to be mistreated. Sherlock Holmes in this adaptation cares so deeply about people, especially those who are denied help when they need it most, and we learn all of this from the very first case.
