A/N: I've kinda been putting this off because tbh the only games I play is Animal Crossing and Mario Kart 😅 I feel extremely under qualified to be writing this lol, but I didn't want to turn it down!! Connor definitely wants to play alongside you. He likes older games and games you play in an arcade. It was one of his favorite places to sneak off as a kid when Logan forgot about him. New games with new consoles are a bit of a jump from that, but he's eager to learn. It takes him a long time to catch on and he's always got questions, but you never mind. Mostly he likes watching you. You're quick, you think on your feet, and you make it look easier than it is. When Connor gets stuck on a level, he goes to you immediately. He doesn't like getting stuck and hates getting defeated by the boss level. He shares your enjoyment of it, even if his games are a bit more pixelated and a lot easier to beat. He's always surprising you with the latest game knowing how happy it makes you, knowing it'll make your day.

Kendall likes the mindless games he can play on his phone. He understands the escapism completely, checking out of the real world for a little while to play a character who can do and say whatever in a (usually) better and far more interesting world. He sits beside you when you play and watches, giving you advice. He's definitely going to play alongside you and is a sore loser, though your kisses make up for it. He plays video games with his kids and remembers being taken to the arcade with Connor as a child. It's something he particularly enjoys, but rarely has the chance to play them. He likes that you share the same interests, that you find such joy in it. It's something you can do together that makes him feel like a little kid again. It's rare you get to see him wear a smile so genuine.

Shiv doesn't really understand. She never really got into video games, she never saw the appeal, nor was she allowed to. She'd always been told that her hobbies should have a greater purpose and not to do them just because they're fun. She doesn't disregard your enjoyment though. In fact, it makes her so happy to see you so happy, to break a new record, to get to the next level, to talk to the group of friends you've made, etc. She'll stand behind you and ask questions, watching you, though she swears she doesn't understand and isn't interested. You offer her the game console if she ever wants to try it, but every time she politely declines. She still has it ingrained in her head that hobbies should look good on an application or be helpful in the workforce, not just for fun, for enjoyment. She can't let herself have fun for the sake of fun, not yet at least.

Roman would never dare admit to it, but he really enjoys the kinds of video games that are slow paced and lead a very simple life, like Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, etc. The more violent ones make him jump and he can't stand all the yelling and noise. He watches you play a lot, sitting beside you, making fun of you. You nudge him, laughing, telling him that he's distracting you. Roman never gives your hobby a second thought, it's just something you do, something you enjoy. He'll stay up late with you and blame the games for missing his alarm, though he's all smiles so you know it's not serious. If you do play more of those horror, violent games he just excuses himself, busying himself, not wanting to make you stop, but not wanting to listen. He loves to see you so happy, especially when you get to the next level or beat the big boss. He's all sarcasm and jokes, but really it makes him happy to know you are.

As he saw three different colors, the air in his lungs seemed to exit his body all at once and he deflated. Three soulmates then. Joy. Against his better judgement, he found himself reading the sentences, despite every part of his brain screaming at him not too.

That was—he took several more deep breaths. Fine. That was fine. This was fine. Everything was fine. (Why did this matter so much to him? (It didn’t because he didn’t care. Honest. He was fine.)) 

Soulmates weren’t for him or his family and that was fine. He didn’t need them and they didn’t need him. It was fine. Completely fine. He was fine. (He really needed to stop using the word ‘fine’. But it’s true, he’s fine.)

He didn’t bother reading the rest of the conversation, nor tell his mother about this discovery. Instead, he turned off the light and pulled his covers up to his shoulders, curling into a ball as he tried to fall asleep. It didn’t work.

Logan woke up blearily, arms sprawled out as he tried to not fall back asleep. He let out a large sigh, rolling off of his bed as he landed on the floor with a thump. He lifted his head to look for his phone, grabbing it and checking the time. 6:34, four minutes late. He scrunched his nose as he realized he forgot to set his alarm last night, groaning. 

The 15 year old stood up, stumbling to the bathroom to wash his face. After drying his face and putting on lotion, he changed out of his pajamas, putting on a light-grey long sleeve shirt, dark grey jeans, and a navy blue hoodie. He walked out of the bathroom, flicking the light off before walking into the kitchen. Logan made himself a single piece of toast, spreading butter onto it and eating it as he stuffed his things into his backpack. 

“Hey, ma! Do I have soccer practice today?” he yelled, unsure of where his mom was in the apartment. 

“A game, actually!” he heard his mother shout back. 

“Oh shit, really?”

“Yes! And don’t swear!” he heard his mom laugh. 

“Sorry!” he yelled back, not sorry in the slightest. 

He finished eating the toast and zipped up his backpack, slipping his phone into his pocket as he stood up straight. He slung his backpack over his shoulder, grabbing his water bottle from the fridge. 

“Bye, Ma, I’m heading to school!” he shouted. 

His mother popped her head around the corner before walking into the kitchen. 

“I’m sorry I can’t drive you to school, bud,” she smiled sadly, leaning up to kiss his forehead. 

“It’s fine, Ma, I promise. You have to get ready for work and everything, no worries,” he smiled. 

Emillia pursed her lips, “Yeah, but I still feel bad.” 

“Then don’t,” he grinned, kissing her on the forehead as well, “you do this every time. Really, Mama, it’s fine. Promise.” 

He adjusted his backpack strap before grabbing his water bottle he had set on the table. “Bye, Ma! Love you!”

“Bye, Logan! Love you too!”

He walked out the door and down the stairs of the apartment building, beginning the walk to school. 

The 15-year old walked leisurely, having left the house earlier than usual. There was a smile on his face that just didn’t seem to want to go away and he certainly wasn’t complaining.

Logan was on his phone when he finally reached the high school, shoving it in his pocket as he walked up the steps. 

As he finally reached the top, he let out a relieved sigh. Logan might play soccer, but that didn’t mean he had to like those stairs. He glared at the steps for a moment, pointedly ignoring the fact that he was staring down an inanimate object. He huffed out a small laugh at this dumb situation and walked to his homeroom, his day officially starting.

Logan chatted with his teammates on the field, grinning at them as he passed the soccer ball. 

“Who are we playing again?” Nate asked, stopping the ball with the side of his foot before sending it back.

“I think it was Willow?” Seth guessed, launching his own ball into the goal.

“Willowcreek?” Logan chimed in, raising an eyebrow.

“Yeah, them!” Seth chirped. 

Brian snorted, “You guys are hopeless. How the hell do you not know who we’re playing when the game is literally today?” 

“We’re special like that,” Logan winked playfully, laughing. He had to duck to avoid getting hit by a ‘stray’ soccer ball from Brian. “You ass!” he shouted, a grin on his face belaying any irritation he might have portrayed.

“Oops,” was all he got in response from Brian. Seth was laughing up a storm when a soccer ball pounded into his stomach, making him fall over.

“Oof,” was the sound Seth made as all the air left his lungs. “You fucker,” he wheezed as he tried to suck air back into his lungs. Brian laughed at the two of them, a grin on his face. 

“Hart, Lattimer, Viotto, focus!” their coach yelled.

“Sorry, coach!” the three shouted in unison, trying not to break down into more laughter.

“Dumbasses,” Nate snickered.

“I do have an ass, thank you for noticing,” Seth mumbled automatically, flushing slightly as he realised what he said. Logan raised his eyebrows, trying to fight a shit-eating grin that was worming its way onto his face. Seth flushed even more, looking down at the ground as his ears turned red while Nate guffawed. 

Brian turned away from the scene and studied the other team practicing on the other half of the field. “They don’t look too friendly,” he commented idly.

Logan hummed, “Well, they sure wouldn’t bake you cookies.” 

“Weirdest fucking analogy,” Seth whispered under his breath to himself, a comment which Logan wisely ignored. 

Logan chewed on his lip for a moment before finally saying, “Eh, we’ll be fine.”

“You four!” they all startled at the sudden noise and turned around to see Coach Morgan yelling at them again. “C’mon, guys, focus! Also, Logan, can you come over here really quick?”

Logan jogged over, “Yeah, coach? What’s up?”

The coach had the decency to look a little bit sheepish as he said, “Well, I know that you have a…tendency to rile up the opposite team during a game—and not in the sexual way.” 

Logan snorted before recovering and waving his hand, “Sorry, continue.”

The coach huffed out a laugh, “I’m just saying that maybe you shouldn’t do it today, these guys aren’t exactly the…nicest bunch.”

“I did pick up on that,” Logan commented, glancing at the other team. “Well, thanks, coach. I’ll bear it in mind.” 

Coach Morgan groaned, “I swear, Lattimer, if you get pulverized—“ 

“I’ll do my best to avoid that, coach!” Logan grinned as he started jogging backwards before turning around fully and running back over to his teammates. 

The coach looked on, a small frown evident on his face. 

“This isn’t going to go well, is it?”

Time for episode 15 lets hope Garroths not fucken dead

Oh man the doctors voice

The opening scene stays exactly the same, I might have to adjust the doctor's line about the Lord of Brightport being missing for a week now, bc I might change the timeline a bit there

Im making it so thats nighttime during that opening scene and when Aph leaves for Brightport for the sake of ~°•*Atmosphere*•°~

Her little exchanges w/ the doctor n Dale stay the same (save for his mention of Thorgi), I would linger a bit more on Aphmau looking Garroth whos breathing heavily and struggling n stuff

Kiki is sitting at some kind of table or on a chair while Brendan is pacing around a few meters away from Garroth, Kikis dialogue stays the same but she just gives Aph the doll rather than telling her its inside the chest

Brendans dialogue stays the same, Aphmau actually tries to say something to him about how its not his fault but he just goes "No." and then leaves, maybe Kiki follows

After that she goes out, asks Emmalyn to make sure Meowki doesnt die while shes gone and packs everything else she needs, I'll say that she has a golden sword (maybe she got when fighting zombies one day or smth) but its kinda broken so. thats not great

Im cutting her exchanges w/ Donna, Logan n Zoey, theyre kinda pointless and I want her to get to Brightport right after packing everything, so no going to the plaza (I might give Logan some dialogue about how he feared he was set up for failure here but is grateful Donna got him to stay, once everything is settled though)

While shes sailing, shes already thinking about how to best convince the Lord of Brightport to help, shes not really thinking about finding him or how to find bc she doesnt even want to think about the possibility of not being able to find and bring him over to Garroth in time

She arrives and is greeted by Azura, I find the way she greets her really weird though?? Like, they killed zombies together and Aphmau tried to talk (ig) but she went all Professional Guard on her (as she should tbh), so this is just idk. weird to me. I think Aphmau should approach her and Azura should be more like "Oh its you! I remem-" only for Aph to interrupt her and tell her all about Garroth in a panic

The rest of the convo pretty much continues the same way it does in the OG, I'll just tweak the dialogue itself later bc it sounds particularly unnatural here to me

Also, Visher's wife does have a name and its Merida, I was very off

So yea, then Aphmau rushes off to Merida, (maybe she pushes some people around bc shes in such a hurry idk) and talks to her

I'll keep Merida's greeting but move the "I trust youve taken care of the one who killed my husband" line bc idk man, it sounds so unnatural there too, I'll just have Aphmau cut her off too and ask her about the missing Lord. Merida gets kinda upset and says her line ("I trust youve taken care etc etc"), Aphmau answer truthfully and Merida responds the way she does in the OG

So Merida throws her out, Aphmau begs her to help but she keeps ignoring her, Aphmau starts to despair and almost runs off to try and find help elsewhere but then she notices this kid John who seemingly heard everything

Her exchange w/ John is the same, maybe I'll extend it a little but its mostly fine

Then she asks around in order to find this cabin, (she doesnt just enter qny of the houses) has some interactions w/ the Brightportians who are all on high alert, maybe theyre kinda snapping at Aphmau and she starts getting even more anxious

She tries looking through some of the house"s windows and sees that the inhabitant of one of them is passed out and when she checks the door, she notices that she can easily open it. She's kinda like "Uhhhhhhhh this is a really bad thing to do, but Ive got no time to lose and I'll just quickly check this house for this friend of John's and then I'll leave right away" before sneaking

She sees the wolf child in the cell and shes like. "is that what John meant?? I mean, werewolves are apparently A Thing so this actually makes a lot of sense" and then she just breaks the door open. I mean, she tries to be delicate and quiet about it bc theres a guy sleeping but still.

She opens the door, has the same exchange w/ the wolf child she has in the OG and grabs them

Aph is just about to leave the basement when Uh Oh, the hunter got woken up by her breaking down the door and is now standing right there! Fortuntely for Aphmau, hes all groggy and confused and hangover n all that, so she pulls some manuvers and ends up locking him in his own basement. Shes panicking at this point and just runs out of the house, wolf child in arms, everyone can see her but no one stops her as she runs as far away into like, the woods as possible

I have to admit, the fanon idea of the orange side being some form of rage used to annoy me. And the theory that he would be connected to Logan somehow was smth I straight up hated.

But the execution of WTIT has, at least partly, swayed me. I can see how it would make sense in the story. I can see how the team could work with a plot thread I think is stupid in a way that comes out very interesting.

And it's not like this story is perfect like there has been stuff i've just found dumb (cough janus' character development fucking Speedrun in POF cough), but idk it's very comforting to remember that this show does know what it's doing with it's characters most of the time and that it can do it well. Even if it goes in a direction that I personally dislike I can still tell that it's going to be an engaging story and I'll like, get over myself pretty quickly. I’ve already started tbh.

So um. I've flipped. Give me my edgy Logan arc now please 🤲🤲🤲

but uh. #1 is Definitely Chainshipping bc y'all know me,, I care those two so very much and just want them to be happy.

upon doing some thinking I believe tht #2 is actually Adam/Lawrence/Strahm? at least right now (I realized in thinking abt my response to this question tht my fave ships shift around depending on how I'm feeling, though Chainshipping is always first)! there's a lot of thoughts in terms of writing these three in my head still jshjkas head full brain scrampled egg.

#3... honestly? the huge SAW polycule I've talked abt w my bestie adam on here a few times <33 there's so many different dynamics and intricacies but at the heart of it all is love and being with people who you love and who love you. found family and having ppl that Understand, yk?? #4 is Amanda/Laura!!! I love them so so much!!! the girls!!! to me this ship is abt learning to trust other ppl, realizing that ppl may not be as terrible as you thought even if you have very good reasons for feeling tht way, forgiveness and acts of kindness tht you may be unfamiliar with until experiencing them w someone who loves you. they are very important to me + I Love the idea tht seeing Laura (+ Daniel) in the Nerve Gas House is what kinda gets Amanda to have the realization of Huh, Jigsaw Kind Of Fucking Sucks.

aaand #5, even though I don't rlly talk abt it At All (still trying to figure out what I want to write for them) is Logan/David. this ship kinda like... chose me? in a way?? I read a fic 1 (one) time and I was pretty much sold. this one is especially funny to me too though bc think of it this way: logan & lawrence work in the same hospital. david is an orderly at said hospital. I love the hc that david specs n adam are triplets. therefore adam and david both nabbed hot doctors who KNEW EACH OTHER lmao!!!

but rlly this ship to me is like... somewhat tentative abt the concept of a relationship (logan after he lost christine, david bc I hc him to have had a few shitty relationships in th past) but liking each other enough to give it a shot and finding smth they didn't know they could have again. they feel safe w each other and comfortable and know that they can trust each other w pretty much anything. Uh,,ok so like,,,,,,,I had this? Idea? And I just wanted to know what people thought of it before I actually wrote it, so uh. Yeah

Named 'Cleaved Apart, Cleaved Together': abt The Split and how the two were separated (physically AND emotionally) and then how they bond again after Remus is accepted and the boys like,,,,,,accept each other as Bros again

At first I was thinking No Fusion but also like,,,I really like the idea of them fusing again on accident when they're really super happy or in sync

So after a Lot of bonding-chilling in the Imagination, just fucking around with each other, and even talking thru shit together-they finally manage it.

They were just in the common room with all the other sides, maybe setting up for a movie night or something?

They came rushing down the stairs, talking frantically together about a new idea they had while pushing each other lightly with every silly tease and making jokes about old shenanigans that only they could really understand

(Patton and Janus could remember days before The Split, when the two were one.

Janus could still remember them shouting not to be seperated.

Patton still hated the fact that it was basically his decision to keep them apart.

Thank the Lord they were close again.)

The two finally stepped into their usual spot in front of the tv, chatting with each other and the others

Eventually, they ended up talking about some stuff they'd made together. Some plans they'd been making together. They finally told a joke at the same time that got them falling over each other laughing,

And then it happened.

There was a flash of light and then-and then-

It wasn't King. It wasn't Creativity, the original.

But it was them.

Patton and Janus only sat there, teary eyed with dropped jaws, and Virgil and Logan began questioning what the FUCK was up, how are two sides fusing-?

And Roman and Remus sat there, tearing up before laughing a moment. 

"Roman."

"Remus."

Two almost-different voices right after one another, happier than any of them had ever heard them.

"We need to talk about this separately though, hm?" Roman, with a laugh.

"Yeah."

Another flash and he was gone, replaced by the brothers again who shook their heads, in a bit of disarray.

"Was that ok?" They asked at the same time, staring at each other.

"We don't have to be him anymore...I mean, we're our own people now Remus."

"Yeah, but that was FUN!" Remus replied, throwing his arms around Roman.

Roman laughed. "Then maybe every now and then?"

And Remus just laughed back. "Why the Hell not!"

They finally turned at the sound of a sniffle.

Janus was crying, and Patton wasn't really much better. Logan and Virgil seemed bewildered, though Logan a little less so.

"Janus? Patton? I understand you remember original Creativity more vividly than we do, but I do not understand what elicited sadness. Are you alright?"

Janus gave a watery laugh, wiping away some tears. "God, I couldn't be better."

Remus and Roman stopped, their smiles finally dropping. Roman reached forward, arm just a few inches in front of Janus. "Did we...do something wrong?"

Janus smiled again and shook his head, tugging on Roman's arm. "Come here you dork."

Patton pulled Remus in along with them and they all ended up in a little cuddle pile, Logan and Virgil joining in too, on the outside, bc Bitch, We're Worried Too.

Remus looked up at them, just Confused. "Then what's up??"

Janus and Patton's smiles dimmed a bit, and Janus began with a sad smile; "It's...simply a long story."

"That long story short, though, uh…" Patton continued, rubbing a hand on his neck nervously. "Wellll...the Split was really scary…"

Janus chuckled. "Exactly. Imagine the friend you've known since you were born splitting into two all of a sudden with ear-ringing screams to match."

"And then, after that…"

"You...decided to split those sides of him...just because one wasn't as perfect as the other."

Patton looked down and held Remus a little tighter. "...that was...mostly my decision."

Janus gave him a Look that simply meant 'we've talked abt that Way too much dude' and moved on. "But either way...it was...well…"

"Neither of you remember it, but...you...didn't want to be split."

Janus smiled again, sweet as honey. "And even after all we did...you two still managed to stick together."

"And even if the person you make now wasn't who he used to be-and it shouldn't be, really-it was like…"

"...seeing two...old friends you used to know meeting again."

"Or seeing two pieces of a whole come together again to make something even more than what they started with."

Janus teared up a little again, gripping them a little tighter. "It's so great to see you two whole again."

Remus and Roman had memory upon memory of feeling...empty. Like there was a piece missing of them. Like nothing they made was quite right. And since they had started to bridge their gap, they'd finally felt that emptiness filling up.

Janus and Patton could remember so, so many times where the two of them had missed their brother, where they told them something wasn't right-especially in the beginning.

Even Logan had memories of trying to figure it out with Roman.

Virgil remembered plenty of days where Remus just seemed off, but couldn't explain what was wrong, and...no matter how little Virgil understood, he would sit with him and try to ward it off anyways.

Remus and Roman laughed, eyes teary, and locked hands between them all.

"Yeah.

We're glad too."
