Located in the Yuseraln system of the Isdoraijung galaxy, Texaseyrg is home to an abundance of diverse flora and fauna, including one native diplo and two skyworm species! For Travellers eager to get to know the planet a little better, Texaseyrg features ample cave systems with bountiful minerals and plantlife. More conventional Travellers will find that building bases or starting a colony is key to survival - when one of Texaseyrg’s signature monsoons rolls in, temperatures frequently exceed 90 degrees Celsius, a real danger for those without heat protection.

Aight, here's all I have about my project that I like to call "Ouranos II"

It'll probably be set in my Tale Of Humanity (look at the tag if you want more)

It's a spec evo project set on a gas giant (that being Ouranos II)

The primary producers are aeroplankton, which stay in the air via the wind (that's why they're called plankton)

The main predators of the aeroplankton are the skyworms and the aeromedusae.

The skyworms are like Dune's sandworms, but in the sky. They fly via jet propulsion. However, the jets face only a little skyward, so like sharks, the skyworms must be constantly flying in order to Not Fall, and falling is bad as it's on a planet where the only solidity is only solid because of the immense air pressure. They're primarily filter feeders, with one species being a predator of the Geoscalids, which will be talked about later.

The Aeromedusae are jellyfish like creatures that inhabit everywhere. They mostly stay in the air because of ballast organs inside them that keep them afloat by being filled up with hydrogen. The aeromedusae also have members that use jet propulsion, and these "propelliformes" might be the ancestors of the skyworms.

The Oäriformes are creatures that have (basally) 18 oars that they use to move around. They stay afloat via the same air ballasts that the aeromedusae have. They're the most diverse clade on Ouranos II. I didn't make much for them, sadly.

The geoscalids are a group of derived aeromedusae that are the biggest lifeforms on Ouranos II. The biggest individual ever recorded was about the size of the island of montreal. That's why they're called the geoscalids, it just means "earth scale". They float via humongous air bladders. They eat via special symbiosis with photosynthetic mocrobes (that has gone comparitively as far as us to our mitochondria). They live near the surface, and a reason they get so big is due to pressure differentials in their ballasts and the atmosphere. The geoscalids are primarily preyed upon by the Spearing Skyworm, who pops their ballast, and makes these beautiful creatures fall to the core. Scavengers get a lot of the body before it falls completely tho.

I Want to Thank You

Thank all of you for the brilliant and wonderful prompt requests and interactions I received in the past week. This round has been enjoyable and motivating, and it warms my heart to see our small part of fandom still going strong. This past year has been equal parts devastating and liberating for me. I have experienced incredible loss and found so much of myself I thought I'd lost over the years. It's put my mind through a bit of a rollercoaster ride, and made much of my writing fall to the wayside. I still have WIPs that need my attention. But these one-shots that I do are my moments of joy-in-writing without expectation beyond needing a reason to force the words out. And that very good reason is all of you. I know I'm not as prolific as other Ao3/tumblr writers. I don't have a huge fan base, my ships aren't as well-known. But I feel like I have found a solid and dedicated group with all of you. And I hope to be here with you until long after the day tumblr falls into obscurity. Over the years, I feel as though my writing has evolved and transformed. I've grown more confident. And I grow more grateful every day. And a big, important part of that is all of you. Every like, every reblog, every kudos and bookmark. And especially the comments. These are the things that fuel a writer's heart. I know sometimes sharing can be scary, especially if your followers don't know about certain ships you have. I also know commenting can be terrifying because you worry about how the writers will respond. But I want to tell you a secret... Writing is terrifying, too. Putting our work out there, whether we're doing it for ourselves or for you or for the giant skyworms that live in the tumblr skies, it's nervewracking to think we're giving an insight into that part of our psyche. Will you hate it? Will you love it? Will you tell me? Will I languish in the anticipation of a single heart or one-word comment? Trust me when I tell you that every reblog, every share, every kudos, every bookmark, and especially every comment makes me incomprehensibly happy. Thank you for being on this journey with me. Yes! She understands him! And recognises him! Perfect. He curls up in a nice little dip in her palm, making a soft little noise that could be a purr.

Until, that is, he realises that Selkie does, in fact, not recognise him. Worse, he’s never heard of anyone in the monastery called Chad, which leads him to only one conclusion. The guy with the weird shoes who yelled and sent him flying into a the bush he had crawled out from under before Selkie found him.

Wait wait! Not that guy! He squeaks, we don’t need him to find the string! Just, please, I’ve taken way too many flights today.

A few ideas!

The creature is not native to the Sphere, and is in fact very much not a part of the Sphere's ecology (there are several, all of them related, but the skyworms are one of the weird ones).

They eat only water, in large quantities.

You can buy bags of kosmos spiral, a synthetic alternative to the food that they eat in their original ecosystem.

When feeding one, you should be prepared to deal with the creature leaping off of you to get to the food, or, indeed, getting the food onto the creature, because it is large and heavy (it has to be that way).

Sorta been burning out, and haven’t really been in the mood to paint for the last few weeks. Been drawing instead!

Also been listening to podcasts, Unexplainable by Vox media and SFIA (Science and Fiction with Isaac Arthur). Unexplainable looks at current phenomenon on Earth that is deemed “unsolvable” or a mystery for the time being. The structure of the podcasts start quite factual, and then begin to use known facts as a means of hypothesising answers to these phenomenon.

SFIA jumps straight into speculation, mainly focusing on alien life and AI sentience. These podcasts run through the most plausible and/or extreme scenarios in order to start dreaming of many what-ifs. 

These podcasts have been awesome at helping my brain conjure more nonsensical BS. Horror movies have been keeping my dreams freaky.
