i know tiktok and shit reels are making you think that not only does your art need to be aesthetically pleasing but also your painting process must be simple and clean and your hands can’t get dirty and every stroke needs to be beautiful.

this is a complete illusion. that artist with pretty hands is scrubbing every drop of paint off with every cut. The brush is barely touching the canvas. There’s rags everywhere. There’s gamsol on the floor. This is the fifth time they’re trying this composition. There’s 10 shredded attempts off-screen. The room isn’t ventilated enough. It’s annoying as fuck to paint with acrylic nails glued on. keeping the palette and palette knife clean for the camera is the most obnoxious thing possible.

You don’t have to sell your process. Not every moment you spend drawing or painting has to be sanitized for aesthetics. Keep something for yourself. idk

i find the hc that shang qinghua's pre-transmigration name was also shang qinghua hilarious for multiple reasons. like first of all why would he do that. ur telling me his heehee inside joke self-insert oc was the fucking rat murder man???? the truest reflection of himself was some guy whose only personality trait was being a traitor??? and he made him serve his ideal man for like ~30 yrs before killing him off like it was nothing??? name a duo more iconic than a shitty porn writer and their unaddressed childhood drama that they deal with by making poor writing choices.

SECONDLY it is well established that the name in itself is a homonym for "attend tsinghua" which is fine and dandy for a one-off two-bit villain's name but is crazy to give to your own CHILD. like as shitty as airplane's parents were are you really telling me they looked at their newborn child, back when their marriage was still somewhat stable, and were like "let's give him the name "Goto Harvard." holy shit no wonder hes such a trainwreck, he was doomed from the start.

...Something's kinda hitting me, guys. I think something just clicked.

So we all know that BB!DOTC is the arc I'm not staying faithful to, right? A lot of characters are getting total overhauls? I'd actually been dancing pretty heavily around the pro-colonialism themes in the original text, simply because I don't really feel comfortable handling them (same with certain sexual themes, it's not great for my mental health to force myself to engage with certain elements that are triggering)

So I'd made it so there was Park Cats (Wind Coalition and River Kingdom) who arrived relatively recently, and Tribe Cats (Sky's Clan, Shadow's Clan) who nestle into an unclaimed spot in the forest. All groups roughly equal in power until Thunder's Clan which was existing in defiance.

But Clanmew isn't JUST comprised of Parkmew and Tribemew-- there's a third contributor. Old Townmew, which mixes with Parkmew and forms Middle Townmew, mixing again with Clanmew to create Modern Townmew.

Since I'm now really thinking about the colonialism themes, especially in my re-read where it starts reaching its narrative conclusion in Books 5 and 6... I think I need to add that 3rd cultural group. I need to make them a player. I think I'm doing a serious disservice by only having the Park Cats, Tribe Cats, and then saying all others mostly lived in the town.

I'm gonna do a BB!Brokenstar with Slash. Previously I'd just cut him completely-- but I think I should, instead, walk him back from being "Pure Evil" like he is in-canon and make him into a real character.

One Eye's a god drawn to the festering stink and rot of the First Battle; Slash is a mortal, leading a group like any other in the Forest Territories.

I think I'm also going to significantly bump up the time the Park Cats have been in this territory. Slash and his cats have been fighting them for years, and until the Mountain Cat influx, were basically spread through most of the Forest.

days of the week lore in sun/sky (real not fake)

so if youve read that fic you know that icarus has a terrible time on thursdays. and this is intentionally a thursday!! the word "thursday" comes from the norse god Thor, god of thunder. Thor's day overtime became Thursday. This came from the latin word of the day "Jovis" day of Jupiter, which is the planet that is said to rule over the day

all of this collectively associated Thursday very heavily with storms and thunder and lightning. and that's kind of the biggest part of it, Icarus' repeated breakdowns are storms. you'll even notice that they have a day of lull, the calm before the storm. the storm metaphor is in regard to their mental state and their dissociation. in my experience, dissociating during a time of hightened stress, with a lot of thoughts and feelings swirling around my mind it can feel a lot like being in the eye of a storm. feeling like everything is going on around you instead of you being involved at all

and it's also very important that Friday is the day after. Fridays are my favourite days because they're ruled by Venus (and she's one of the gods i actively worship) Venus represents love, and thats what Violet gives Icarus after their little breakdowns he gives them lots of love and care.

Icarus also returned to their world on a Friday (one of the reasons friday ended up being the day i publish chapters, as well as it being convenient) and they do actually confess that they love Centross on the first day they get back- in the tavern when theyre drunk.

i actually dont even mind thursdays that much in real life. TUESDAYS however. i fuckin hate tuesdays.

anyways thats your dumb little "ember managing to make the dumbest shit possible important" like the massive loser i am. nothing is an accident. everything is intentional. you aren't even safe from the days of the week. just you wait until you hear about the months lore (that's not even a joke i'm not normal)
