A guide for making a horse stencil (but it also works for cats and dogs, technically).

Edited 16/10/2023: Updated to add more info on hash ID generation and better practice.

If you've read my previous guide on making custom brushes, you'll find that it's relatively similar.

If you're brand spanking new to making any mods, this will probably take you through every single step, because I have an issue with being over-detailed.

Things you'll need:

Sims 4 Studio

GIMP

Notepad

Tools in S4S we'll be using:

Begin by making a new, empty package file, after that, open up the game file cruiser.

Find the "Pet Pelt Layer" and tick the box, after that, in the search box below the file types, write in "EP14", as this will hide cat and dog stencils that will show up.

From here, it's important that we find the right one to work with, it has to be tagged as "Stencil", in this case, it'll be the 3rd from the top of the list or - 00000000000554B4

You can definitely work with just the first one which is a pattern if you want to, but if you're completely new to modding, it will be much easier with the one I've linked. If you do choose the pattern route, remember to change it from pattern to stencil and ThumbnailKey is responsible for the thumbnail you'll see in game.

Now, grab your trusty notepad and make note of these ID's:

Once you've made note of these ID's, make sure you add the file to your current package. You can also skip writing down the ID's and just view them from your package editor screen, but I find it helps keep the workflow more compact, however it is up to you.

Now, go back to your filetype list and select "DST Image" and "RLE 2 Image":

Additionally, make sure you still have "EP14" in the search bar, for the next part we'll be using the instance search bar, as marked on top right.

Enter your first ID -

Add to package and do the same with the second ID.

Now, your new package file should look like this:

Once you're at this point, it's relatively easy sailing.

Start by going to Tools > Hash Generator and generate 3 ID's:

Edited 16/10/2023: When generating your hash ID's, please use your creator name ie.: "[YourCreatorName/Blogname]TutorialCustomFurCoat1", this will give you a more unique hash code than hoping to be as descriptive as possible when generating the hashes (in this case instance ID's). PS. You should still be descriptive.

I do it this way, descriptor + numbers, but you can do it whatever way you want to.

After that, we'll assign your newly generated ID's.

Respectively, my first ID will be used on the Pet Pelt Layer, Second ID will be used on the RLE 2 Image and 3rd ID will be used for the DDS image:

The package you're working on should now look something like this:

After this, you should save your package (so you don't lose your progress, I had a bluescreen happen and I'm still mad, so don't make my mistakes, it's easy to fix, just takes too much time).

Once you've saved your package, we can begin exporting/importing images.

For editing, I recommend actually grabbing the horse skin file. I've uploaded it to SimFileShare, it comes in two flavours .dds and .png, .png will be easier to work with, since it won't have the same layers are .dds.

Anyway, back on track we go:

Export the RLE2 image, it'll be saved as a .png, keep that in mind for later.

Once you're happy with your results, get to exporting your image.

IMPORTANT: remember to export the file in L8 format.

Once you're done with that, go ahead and import your picture into the package:

Repeat the same steps for the DST image, and you're done. Now, save your file and load it into the game:

And you're all set and done.

My name is Tix (they/them, occasionally it/its), and welcome to my rotomblr blog! I'm 23, I'm from Unova and i have a small café on Route 3 right outside Striaton City. If you don't find it, just look for the Daycare on the hill, walk up that hill and look for the building at the foot of the hill! And now come in and get a cupcake, you earned it!

Don't be alarmed by the poison types around here! Most of them are registered to me and are completely harmless unless you touch them. They are also friendly, so if you wanna pet them, ask me! I'll gladly provide handling advice.

ZERO: don't be a dick. easy, right? right. This is the important part :)

First: blanket #unreality warning. I will tag posts usually as pokemon irl, #pkmn irl or #pokeblogging. The actual unreality tag is reserved that genuinely blends reality and fiction (such as talking about animals in the context of the pokemon world.)

Second: i went on a BIG hiatus for like 6 months. I've retconned a few things, but i didn't want to actually go through the blog and delete stuff. Instead, i tagged all old posts as #Koffing-Time-1.0. Everything with this tag is not neccesarily canon anymore. case-to-case basis i guess.

Third: If anything comes up, I'll try to put a warning tag. I'll keep it to one format: #cw [trigger]. I will probably still use them sparingly, since i'm personally okay with most things. Please tell me if i should tag something.

Fourth: I won't participate in high stakes a lot and probably never in ultra stakes. Everything will be appropriately tagged #high stakes pokereality on the off chance that i do join. I don't think i will be getting into details like "low stakes" and "medium stakes" for tagging.

Fifth: Regarding sentient/sapient pokémon: they are allowed. I might ignore them if i ever do any story-arcs or so, but go ahead! (this was different for 1.0)

Sixth: Ask games will be tagged with #ask game. Once i reblog them, they are open indefinitely, including old ones from #Koffing-Time-1.0. The tag will be for the initial meme only, not the answers to make it possible to find them. Generally, please put the question for the meme into your ask, especially if it's an older ask game. Tarot Notes & Musings Part 3: Advice for Picking Cartomancy Decks

♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡

Hi! This is just a list of recommendations and advice for choosing cartomancy decks. This isn't an exhaustive list, but most of it has come from my personal trial and error in finding decks for cartomancy so I hope it helps!

🕯 The first thing you need to figure out is what you're in the market for. Specifically, what purposes are you wanting to use the cards for? A lot of oracle decks are designed around specific themes/topics so you can really find a variety of decks that can mesh well with whatever you're wanting to do. A lot of tarot decks have theming as well, so get whatever is going to work best for you. There are all sorts of decks with specific topics/purposes in design, so if you want a specific vibe/focus for a deck there's probably at least one option if not several out there. If you're going for a general use or learner tarot deck, the Thoth and Rider-Waite tarot decks are both safe bets (you can also make your own with images online with those). It would also be a good idea to set a budget range for what you're willing to spend on a deck at this point as well.

🕯 Figure out the skill level of the deck and if it will be readable for you. There's going to be a learning curve with any new deck, but the deck's art should be something you can be able to sight-read fairly quickly if you already know how to read tarot (this is especially true for tarot decks of the same type. IE if you're familiar with the Rider-Waite deck format don't get a Rider-Waite style deck with visuals you can't identify quickly). If you can find sample pictures of the cards or a flip-through online your decision for this will be a lot more accurate.

🔮For example, my 3 tarot decks are all use the Rider-Waite format. My Rider-Waite deck, my Shadowscapes deck, and my Nature Spirits all have the same cards and the same card can be identified easily within all three decks even though the art styles are different. An example of a deck I personally would not get is the Tarot of The Haunted House for myself because I honestly don't think I'd be able to read it easily (it's a beautiful Rider-Waite style deck though).

🕯 In my opinion, deck art is Important. For a variety of reasons, whatever tools you're using for your practice should be tools you mesh well with. Don't get decks with art you don't love (or at least like). Readability should be kept in mind too, but in my experience not only are you're going to work best with tools you're happy to have- you're also going to want to work with those tools more often. If you don't vibe with the deck art don't get the deck.

🔮The visual seeds/card art are also typically going to lead you on how to interpret cards. While card definitions within formats stay generally the same (the King of Pentacles/it's equivalent is going to stay the King of Pentacles deck-to-deck) I find decks tend to lean towards one interpretation of their meanings over others.

🔮For example, there are some decks that are off-putting to me or that I find are just severely not to my taste. That doesn't mean that they're bad decks, but that does mean I'm not going to get them.

🔮I've found that a lot of people definitely seem to have trends in what their art/style/theme preferences are for decks, and once you get a feel for what you like deck selection for art and themes gets a lot easier. Personally a lot of my decks relate with other parts of my practice that I've picked up and their themes tend to lean towards how my practice operates

🕯 At this point practical things are going to come into consideration. After scoping out a few decks you might be into, look for deck reviews and flip-throughs so you can get a good idea of how all the cards look and how the deck performs (YouTube is actually a pretty decent source for deck reviews). A lot of longer deck reviews/discussions will also talk about how it feels to work with the deck, which give you some insight about whether the deck will be compatible with you. Some good ways to practically evaluate a deck are:

What is the card stock quality? How large are the cards and what shape are they? Are the cards easy to shuffle and durable?

Does all the art stand up to my preferences?

Is the guidebook (very important for oracle decks) easy to understand and good at explaining the cards?

Shuffle-ability and durability are important generally since you want your deck to be able to stand up well with wear-and-tear from regular use. Deck guides, and their quality , are incredibly important for oracle decks or cartomancy decks that are designed with only one guide. If you get a Thoth or Rider-Waite tarot, a variety of detailed guides will be pretty easy to find in print books or online. HOWEVER, if you get a deck that only has one guide then that's really only thing you're going to have to work off of as you're learning the deck.

🔮These criteria are on a spectrum and you're going to prioritize them to you want and need. In my experience (and I have 2 of their decks) Lo Scarabeo decks tend to have lovely art and decent card quality, but the guides are small and often too brief and difficult to understand to be really useful (think the little white booklets you get with tarot decks in that they're not nothing but also not super helpful). Meanwhile the Faerie's Oracle has not-fantastic cardstock quality but very interactive cards and the guidebook is really top notch (hardcover and quite in-depth, I also believe there may be a facebook group for discussing working with the deck). Kim Krans' Wild Unknown cards fall somewhere in the middle with (imo) decent guidebooks and serviceable cardstock.

SERIOUS TALK. I'm heavily considering moving this account to a new one. This one is getting really cluttered between the awful tumblr changes not remembering my tags, not being able to find headcanons, old asks & threads accumulating, in general is a mess. Not only that but things as general graphics and aesthetics feel very outdated. Being pretty honest, Tomoya was supposed to be a "TEMPORARY BLOG" while I took a break from my previous main muse. That's why I didn't even bother to make pretty fancy tags, pages or really elaborated graphics. I didn't expect to get attached to them, surprised myself with the bonds they have created too ! Plus, I think I have grasped by now the direction of this muse, builded up a story I still have to talk about and AUs set that I sure do love exploring. So as soon as this semester is over, I'll start preparing a new blog to move this one and have a fresh start. Here comes a to do list for myself on what I should prepare before moving this account though. Will be done in the shadows as I continue using this one for the time being.

Look for a new URL ! If possible one that matches the spring aesthetic I want to give off. If not, one about fate / destiny or lighting / thunderstorms will do.

Make a new rules page and be more precise in the unfollowing / following section as well as some things I want to prevent while plotting and shipping with others.

Use a new formatting that uses purples and reds ! C'mon Berry, use to your advantage the new formatting options.

Make that mains / bonds page. But make it extra special by adding drawn chibis of Tomo's bonds: Chihiro, Tem, Satoru, Kaeya ( aka. I gotta start doodling them ).

GRAPHICS with a new aesthetic ! Mobile header, dash icon, not doing a theme this time tho, a header for asks and threads even. But especially a new icon border cause I hate the current one so much.

Draw. yourself. new. Tomo. chibis. berry.

We are now THESTARHQ and all pages have been updated to reflect the change to roleplay premise outlined in my previous admin post. Other than all labels now being sub-labels/subsidiaries under one main corporation, STAR Labels, and details being updated to reflect that fact, most changes are merely minor or cosmetic. A few questions and answers are included under the cut about small mechanics tweaks. Mainly, I'd suggesting checking out the ABOUT page and its corresponding links, as that's the most need-to-know information about the change. A few posts will be going up over the next few days; this will include a few overdue posts, as a well as a some writing opportunities and worldbuilding! I'm incredibly excited to explore the new-but-old world of STAR Labels with you all! Feel free to contact me or send in a revamped application if there's any changes you want to make to your muse under this updated premise. You're welcome to ask any questions you have as well. Our Mod Team Application is still open and has been simplified as well. Stat points aren't listed anymore. Are those still a thing?

No, they are not! Booking points are the sole point form now to simplify the process.

Did booking points change?

Not majorly. It's still the same basic system: 1) earn points from activity checks and events/tasks and then 2) redeem a set number of points for a new career item. One point is now earned for each passed activity check and each event prompt or task prompt completed. Consequently, five points is now the set cost of a career item. This allows more regularity and nuance in tracking booking points. I have already converted everyone's points to the new amounts and these can be found on the official admin tracking of booking points here. You don't technically need to track your own, but you're welcome and encouraged to if you want to doublecheck and ensure I don't miss anything.

Do we still need to submit a form to the points blog to earn booking points?

No, you'll only need to submit a form to redeem booking points for a career item. Booking points will be automatically tracked. (If something that should earn you point doesn't show up on the dash, please send a link to the main!)

Are mun-created collectives still a thing?

Not in the format they were before with formal applications. Survey results showed people seem to be more partial to either only canon collectives or having both around, so the formal focus is going to be on canons. It's still possible to have a group such as an idol group, band, or dance crew involved in your muse's past, present, or future that isn't a preset canon, though. The only major limit is that non-canon groups must have been formed and debuted under a non-canon label, if applicable. They can behave signed under a canon label at a later time, debuts are limited to the canons. Beyond that, just list any major activities involving the group on the muse's career page. You can make claims for them, but they'll need to count toward the four moment limit per year (unlike canons' activities). If you would like other muses involved in it, submit a wanted connection form!

Are there any new blogs to follow?

For the most part, everything's just had its name converted, such as The Source now being Star Source. I will ask everyone to follow STAR Labels, which is where company-related content will be posted.

03. formatting; i don’t personally use gif icons, the sizes of my gifs vary from small to medium and to keep my page tidy. i’d prefer if you did the same but i don’t require it. you can have fancy little pretty format for your replies too it’s stunning and i appreciate it, but don’t expect it to be mirrored. what i do expect to be mirrored, however, is the length of my replies. if i give you a paragraph and you give me two lines in return that don't even move things along, i'm not gonna bother replying.

04. selectivity; i’m semi-selective, but, apart from stuff mentioned in point 01, i don’t really have a concrete list of things i won’t interact with roleplay-wise. shitty, i know, but it’ll mostly be a gut feeling. i'll try working on a banned fc list sometime soon. but if something isn’t picking up and we’re both feeling like it’s meh, we can always plot something else! shoot your shot, i don’t bite. as of late, i have an overwhelming preference for female muses. my muse for my guys is very selective and i don't wanna deplete it.

On Tragedies Over HEAs, Emotional Wrecking Balls And The Next Fic I'm Hitting "Publish" On

Since I'm writing in the Harry Potter Fandom, is it more British to say "Emotional Wrecking Bollocks?" 🙃 Note: This post may contain implied spoilers for several works. Everyone in my IRL life to whom I have revealed my recent love/obsession with Harry Potter fanfiction ends up hearing about Draft of Living Death by Maloreiy. I refuse to shut up about it and if my friends can get past some of the content warnings of the piece, l encourage them to read for the thrill of riding the broken emotional rollercoaster that lands every reader in the sinking pit of "tragically bitter-sweet." Bitter-sweet, that is, if you're the kind of person who drinks extra-strong coffee black and thinks sourdough bread tastes "too sugary." Draft of Living Death deserves its own post of praise and soon I'll be sharing a post here's a post of the fics I have listed as "Emotional Wrecking Balls" in my nightmare of a Fanfiction-I've-Read tracking spreadsheet. While I love a happily-every-after (HEA) ending as much as the next reader, I live for fics that are tragic or at least angsty with an ambiguous ending. Perhaps it's the over-abundance of HEAs that I've read that drives me to seek a counterbalance. OR MAYBE, really, it's because I grew up on late second-wave and early third-wave emo music, so it's ingrained in me to emotionally get off on tortured feelings of unrequited love or stories of partners who can't stay together. I have my list of WIPs (aka Works in Progress) and at least half, if not the majority of them would get the #EmotionalWreckingBall tag. I've only recently shared my first fic and my itchy fingers and addled brain are eager to publish the next piece. Based on which one is closest-to-completion, the work that is the most ready to go is a rough piece whose working title in my Drive is currently just called "Dead Dove Do Not Eat," like the common tag. (See info about the DDDNE tag here.) DDDNE was initially the first fic I wanted to prepare-to-share, but since I wanted to launch this writing project around something tied to Neville's birthday (July 30th) and my love of Nevmione, it just felt like starting on this more difficult piece was not The Vibe(tm). But now that I'm refining this tragic work, it feels very close to the world of the first piece I've already posted, in a way that almost makes them undermine each other. (Read my first fic, In All The Ways That Mattered here.) DDDNE takes place about 2 years after 8th Year Graduation, so it's like a jacked-up sequel to IATWTM, if you've wished for a dismal continuation of the storyline. I haven't looked at DDDNE for a month or two so I was surprised as how much I liked reading it today. The good news, for me, is that there was more tenderness written into this fic than I remembered but then I realized, while editing and filling in some gaps, that I've created more emotional investment latch onto. It'll makes it easier to render the reader gutted, where possible. I'm torn if this should be the second offering I put out there but it's so close to being done that I'm very tempted to just say "eff it" and let it rip. I want to read more tragedies and ambiguous endings in one-short formats. So far, I've found that shorter works focusing on dark themes, angst, and no HEA tend to be more successful in achieving their (perceived) aims than longfics, but maybe that's my bias. I have yet to really find a DDDNE longfic that captures me (but I'm open to suggestions in the comments.) There were two big holes in my DDDNE fic that may end up softening my overall approach, making the final product a little less intense. While I want to rebel against the impulse to make things more palatable, the muse is calling, truly. It's telling me that the ending, which I didn't have until about half an hour ago, needs to inform the next review of the piece and I'll need to place anchors for the logic to stand throughout. When it's posted, I'll link the info for the DDDNE fic here. I'm so curious to know what it's title will end up being!

Ranking Songs from Hazbin Hotel (Season 1) Based on How Much They Contribute to the Narrative

Overview:

So recently there have been some announcements about Hazbin Hotel, particularly the reveal that seasons 3 and 4 have been green-lit, as well as teases relating to the upcoming season 2. A couple of things that I have heard about season 2 were that it would have 8 episodes (following the season 1 format) and also a rumor that season 2 will have more songs than season 1.

I’m not sure how I feel about that.

Here’s the thing: I do like the songs in the show. I like that it’s a musical series. However, my biggest complaint with the first season (something I’ve seen parroted by many other people) was that there wasn’t enough of it. Only 8 episodes and 22 minutes per episode? That is really not a lot of time to put together a cohesive plot for a season of a show. It especially takes away the opportunity for filler episodes and fun side plots. There’s just no time! So if season 2 is going to have the same total runtime as season 1, I’m worried that more songs will take away even more time for the plot and character developments.

While I was musing on this, I got to thinking about songs in musicals, and how they work with the story. Sometimes they reveal key plot points, but other times they’re just for fun, and sometimes they are there to emphasize emotional weight of information that was already given to the viewers. It was this line of thinking that led me to making the following list. I’m going to take every song in season 1 of Hazbin Hotel and number them from 16 to 1 based on how much they add to the story line. I intend to take into account events that occur during the song that move the story forward, as well as new information that the audience gains from the lyrics.

Extra Note: I am doing this for fun. This is not my way of saying which songs are the best and which are the worst. As I’ve already pointed out, a song’s total merit is not based on its addition to the story alone. However, that will be the sole metric of this particular ranking. Some of my personal favorite songs end up surprisingly low on the list because they are not as plot heavy. Also this is my personal opinion, and I’m sure there will be some people who disagree about which songs contribute the most to the story. I am happy to entertain polite debate in the comments. With that having been said, enjoy.

Number 16- More than Anything (Reprise)

It makes sense that this one made it to the bottom of the list. I’m guessing because episode 8 had a big battle scene, they had to make one of the songs really short in order to accommodate the runtime. Also, this is the one song that doesn’t tell us anything we didn’t already know. They love each other. If you had been paying attention throughout the whole season, you would have picked up on that one.

Number 15- Poison

This song doesn’t really give us plot per se. Rather, it provides important insight into the character of Angel Dust. Specifically, it shows how he views his relationship to Valentino, and allows the audience a rare glimpse into how he really feels underneath the mask of ‘an actor’. There are also hints about events that happened in his past mentioned in the song (Angel singing about how he should have known better and how he was lured into Valentino’s trap).

Number 14- It Starts with Sorry

When I started making this list, I thought for sure this one would be at the bottom. However, it managed to crawl into third-to-last place by virtue of having one (1) thing happen.Charlie forgives Sir Pentious and convinces him to stay at the hotel for real. When trying to weigh the plot relevancy of a song, one of the biggest questions I asked myself was this: would the story make sense if this part was taken out? Obviously, it would make no sense if Sir Pentious was found out to be a spy, and then everyone just went to bed. Both of the songs listed before this one could have been cut and the story would still make the same amount of sense. So yes, this song did contribute to the story in some way, and it is the first song on the list that is considered crucial for the cohesion of the plot.

Number 13- Out for Love

So this song has two things that occur for the plot. One is Carmilla giving Vaggie instructions on how to fight (which foreshadows Vaggie’s showdown with Lute), also indicating that while she will not put herself in harms way, she is willing to side with the hotel in some capacity. Two is that we see the return of Vaggie’s wings (Side note- I really wish they had explained that).

Number 12- Loser Baby

This one is not so much about showing us who the characters are. Rather, its about the characters (specifically Angel Dust) actually undergoing development. The duration of the song is when Husk and Angel Dust grow closer by sharing a moment of vulnerability. This song could not be cut from the story because it where Angel Dust goes from despondent about his situation to hopeful and happy to at least share his misery with a companion. Also, Husk hints at the nature of his deal with Alastor (he sold his soul to save his powers? What does that mean? I’m hoping it’s something that gets explored later on).

Number 11- Hell is Forever

As I mentioned in the overview, some songs are not about revealing new information, but about emphasizing things that have already been stated. In this song, the characterization of Adam is something that has already been explored before the singing starts. It has even been pointed out by some fans that during his meeting with Charlie, Adam speed runs the 7 deadly sins. We already know what he’s like. The song is just there to hammer the point home. However, this one gains a higher spot than the others before because there are two important plot points revealed during Hell is Forever. One is that the angels are not interested in working with Charlie’s plan (it was obvious it was going to happen but we still needed to see it). The other is the Extermination being moved up to 6 months instead of a year.

Number 10- Hell’s Greatest Dad

Once again, the dynamic between Alastor and Lucifer was already established before the singing began. In the single minute before the chandelier came crashing down, we saw that Alastor hates Lucifer, and that Lucifer took no time at all to hate him in return. The majority of the song is just showing over and over how much they dislike each other. However, we have to ask ourselves what else do we learn in this one? For one thing, we get to learn a bit about Lucifer’s powers. We can see that he can summon things from out of nowhere, and that his power is still considered ‘angelic’ despite his fall. We also get a glimpse of how he thinks. He provides Charlie with flashy things to draw in sinners (champagne and caviar) without really offering anything that aligns with her vision. This is a good setup for the talk they have later on the balcony. Finally, the song ends with Mimzy arriving onto the scene, who plays a significant role in the story for this episode.

Number 9- Welcome to Heaven

So at first, I didn’t see this one being this far up the list. However, the more I thought about it, the more I realized that this song does a fair amount of subtle world building and foreshadowing. First of all, it introduces us to the kingdom of Heaven. After five episodes, we get to finally see what it looks like and what the after life is like for those who are deemed ‘winners’. It also shows us how Heaven interacts with and perceives those from Hell: in a way that appears outwardly polite but with an attitude of looking down on them and being obsessed with perfection (‘please keep your brimstone off the floor’). Finally, the song hints at the differences between Emily and Sera. Emily is happy to host people that are not native to her home and wants to treat them with all of the warmth that she shows towards the residents. Sera, on the other hand, interrupts what Emily is saying to remind Charlie that her visit is temporary, firmly (and unnecessarily) stating that they cannot stay. This interaction does a good job setting up the later conflict that occurs between the two seraphims. It’s an impressive amount of story-telling from one of the shorter songs.

Number 8- Happy Day in Hell

Once again, I do have to take off points here because the characterization of Charlie is fairly well established before the song itself starts. However, as the first song of the first episode, this one does a good job of setting the overall tone for the series while establishing our main character. It’s a song that tells you exactly what kind of story you’re getting yourself into: one that is fun and colorful, with a humorous juxtaposition of peppy optimism in a place that is dark and gross. Like Welcome to Heaven, the strength of this song really comes from its world-building, which makes sense. At the start of a story, you want to set the scene. While Charlie is singing she goes from the lobby of her hotel to the steps of the angelic embassy, taking her on a whirlwind tour of Pentagram City. She bumps into several of the residents, showcasing what Hell and its denizens are like. She also mentions different places in the city as she passes by them, further painting a picture of the story’s setting. Another point in favor for this song is Vaggie’s lines. The way she talks about the angels not only characterizes her as a down-to-earth realist in contrast to Charlie’s head-in-the-clouds dreamer, but it also acts as foreshadowing, hinting that she understands the exterminators on a familiar level far better than the average sinner (‘those angels’ minds are hard to change’).

Number 7- Ready For This

The main plot point that occurs in this one is that Charlie convinces the cannibals to fight against the exterminators for the hotel. On a volume level, it may not seem like as many things happen in this song, but the things that occur do weigh pretty significantly in the story. Since this is such an important part of what happens in the finale, it places this song high up on the list. Charlie also gains an internal victory by becoming more confident and stepping into her role as ruler of Hell, which adds to the song’s character development. Furthermore, there are hints at Alastor’s intentions. His one line about her being madly powerful and filled with potential sets up a possible story arc in later seasons that involves him playing mentor to Charlie as she grows into her powers.

Number 6- More Than Anything

This song does a lot of heavy lifting in terms of telling us about the characters. It starts with Lucifer talking about how he tried and failed to see the best in human beings before and how it blew up in his face. It helps us understand his mindset and motivations for why he acts the way he does. The second stanza then moves on to Charlie, and we get to see a deeper look into why she is the way she is. We see her backstory and learn that her father was the one to inspire her. The rest of the song involves character development, with Lucifer coming around to see Charlie’s point of view, and the two reconciling. Getting a look into the two character’s minds while also showing how Lucifer changes and decides to help Charlie are pretty important elements to the story, landing this song high up on the list.

Number 5- Respectless

This one helped to characterize several minor characters. First of all, we learn a lot about Velvette. We see that she thinks she knows everything and that those who came before don’t have anything to tell her (almost like she’s a caricature of how many older people see the younger generations). The song also showed the unusual relationship between the Vees and the other Overlords- how they stand apart as young upstarts whereas the other Overlords tend to be methodical and thoughtful. It’s very clear from this short interaction that the Vees are not popular with their peers. There is also the characterization of Carmilla and Zestial, who seem to be the ones that most of the overlords look up to and follow their lead, as well as the friendship they have with each other. On a final note, the final lyrics of this song hint towards the reveal that comes shortly later on in the episode.

Number 4- Whatever it Takes

So a lot happens in this one. It starts with Carmilla telling the story of how she managed to kill an Exterminator in order to save her daughters (which is a pretty huge part of the plot, not just for the episode but for the season). It then quickly moves on to her thought process of how she decided that keeping her actions secret was the best way to guarantee the continued safety of her family. Of course it’s not just Carmilla that we end up learning about in this song. In the next stanza we get a good look inside Vaggie’s head, how she sees herself and how she views her relationship to Charlie. We see how important it is for her to be Charlie’s protection and support, and how she can’t handle failing at that. And again, in her first lines of the song, we get some hints that foreshadow her big reveal in episode 6 (being ‘a stranger in a brand new place’).

Number 3- Stayed Gone

For starters, this one tells us a lot about Vox. Not only do we get to see the extent of his powers and how he can stretch his influence all over Hell, but we get to see deep into his psyche. Vox is, physically, a powerful overlord. He can teleport, he can plug into pretty much any outlet in Hell, he can spy on thousands if not millions of technology users all at once. Despite all of this, Vox is painfully insecure. It comes through in his every word and line how much he is trying to convince himself as much as everybody else about Alastor’s irrelevancy. He could have completely ignored Alastor’s presence in Pentagram City, but instead he chooses to bait him into and Epic Rap Battle of History that Vox then proceeds to lose in the most public way possible while Alastor doesn’t even break a sweat. Speaking of Alastor, his part of the song does a good job building his character as well, at least in relation to his dynamic with Vox. It’s clear when he exits the tailor and sees Vox’s program that he too is affected by their rivalry (after all, he also could have ignored Vox and not allowed himself to be pulled into a petty conflict). However, his strength lies in his ability to keep his cool and his wit. Alastor is shown to be a master a psychological warfare and happy to go after his opponents where he knows it will hurt (telling all of Hell the Vox asked him to join is team). This is the same tactic he uses later against Lucifer in Hell’s Greatest Dad. Alastor always goes for the throat.

Note: When I was weighing this one, I ran into a bit of a quandary- do I count the song as starting from when the music begins, or do I only count the song from when Vox’s singing begins? Here’s the problem, if I only count from the singing, starting at “Welcome home” then I leave out a handful of lines that are fairly significant pieces of story-telling. From the short interaction between Vox and Valentino just before the singing begins but after the beat starts playing we learn:

-Alastor has been gone for seven years (the same amount of time Lillith has been gone, so obviously important)

-People thought that Alastor was gone for good because no one had seen him

-Alastor and Vox had a showdown where Alastor ‘almost beat’ Vox

-Vox has grown more powerful in Alastor’s absence

So yeah, a lot of extra info in that quick exchange. Personally, I chose to count it as part of the song because the beat of the intro was playing during this clip. Also, the talking was done in a way that it felt like the character’s were following the beat, even if it couldn’t be counted as singing.

Number 2- You Didn’t Know

Wow. So where do I begin? It was cool to watch the debate that took place between the Angels and Charlie after Angle Dust passed the test given to him. Particularly, Sera’s lines hinting towards information about things I’m sure will be explored in later seasons (“not everything is spelled ink” “there’s a lot that you don’t know”). Of course the next thing that happens in the song is Adam talking about the next Extermination in front of the entire court of angels, something he was supposed to keep secret. This causes a chain reaction that determines the course of the rest of the song: Emily is horrified, Charlie learns that many of the people in Heaven we unaware that the Exterminations were taking place, Emily going against Sera and siding with Charlie. This was a lot of stuff happening in a short amount of time. We are then shown the fallout from these actions- the court is now divided, with some angels horrified while others are arguing on the side of the Exterminators. And finally, the song ending with Adam revealing the truth about Vaggie to Charlie.

Number 1- The Show Must Go On

I know some people are probably thinking “yeah of course this one was going to be number 1 on the list, it was the finale song of the season”, but honestly it was a photo finish between this one and “You Didn’t Know”. Both of them had a decent amount of action occurring, as well as character exploration and revealing of information to the audience. However, after a bit of deliberation, I determined “The Show Must Go On” did have slightly more that it added to the plot.

Much like how “Loser Baby” took Angel from depressed and hopeless to feeling better about his situation, this song did the same thing but for Charlie. We went at the beginning to staring at the wreckage of the old hotel to a shot of the newly rebuilt one, shifting the entire tone from dark to bright. Speaking of the hotel being rebuilt, we once again get to see more of Lucifer’s abilities, as he stretches them even further than he did in “Hell’s Greatest Dad”. It’s also interesting to note that this time around, the conjuring and magic he uses are far more in line with what his daughter wants, further showcasing his character development through the season.

Part of the reason this song was so plot-forward is because in some ways it’s almost like 3 songs put together (the hotel gang, the Vees, and Alastor each have stanzas that don’t really share the same beat). After the first part with the residents working to rebuild, we then shift to the Vees in Vox Tower being ominous and whatnot. They talk about how excited they are to take advantage of the opportunities presented in front of them to gain more power and influence in Hell, setting them up for their roles as the main antagonists in the next season.

We then, of course, move into the third song in this song- Alastor’s. We get confirmation that he is trapped in a deal that he is desperate to get out of, we learn a bit more about his intentions, and then after a very sinister note, we are taken back to the first song. Finally, we do see Alastor returning to reunite with the gang, before one final shot of the brand new Hazbin Hotel.

with this in mind, the metas i write are portrayal specific to this blog, so please give them a read! i know i can be rather wordy- anyone who has followed me elsewhere may know this, but for my first time followers, worldbuilding is one of my favorite things to do. i am particularly fond of analysis of character psychology.

Things you should know before becoming a mutual

List 10 or more things you find to be essential for your blog. Essentially, highlight your rules! Let people know what they should be aware of and expected, from you! Then tag anyone you would like to learn more from! Feel free to steal this~

You must be at least +18 years old to even follow this blog. I’m well over the +20 years old mark, I’m uncomfortable having minors around me and my blogs (agelless blogs will be softblocked). I’m also constantly delving on subjects that just aren’t suitable for any minors, so really, there’s absolutely no reason why they should be here, period.

Your blog must have: a rules page, muse’s info, a sample of your writing (I have a preference for para/lengthier replies. I don’t like heavily formatted replies, if I find myself struggling to read your stuff then I will give it a pass) and there shouldn’t have a lot of OOC/things that are unrelated to RPing (negativity, very personal stuff, political rambles, support of call out culture, heavy on the discourse side of things, etc.).

Be mindful, english isn’t my first language! While I welcome and accept help with my grammar/writing, don’t use that to your advantage, so you can spin & twist the things I say for whatever reason. I’ve had this happen to me one too many times, and I guarantee you it’s not fun.

Mun =/= muse, fiction isn't reality. If you don’t have that concept clear, and you have a hard time separating those things. Then don’t even bother coming close to me.

Fictional kins and self-inserts aren’t welcomed here. Regardless if you're an OC, or if you hide behind a canon character. I feel IMMENSELY uncomfortable with people who heavily live through their muses, due to very bad experiences in the past. I’m not here to fulfill anyone’s fantasies in that way. Don't be dodgy about it.

Be upfront about what makes you uncomfortable, establish your boundaries and don’t ever be afraid to tell me I’ve crossed a line for you whenever we are plotting/writing something. I ALWAYS ask this to all of my partners, whenever I approach anyone to get discussions going. I always ask out of genuine care, for the other. Unless you tell me I’ve screwed up, there’s no way I’ll be able to fix it or even apologize for it.

Fandoms and communities I outright refuse to interact with: MLP, Undertale, Homestuck, FNaF, FNF, Genshim Impact, League of Legends (Arcane isn't an exception), Disney and the MCU.

Things that will make me unfollow: too much unrelated stuff to RP being constantly posted, if I feel like I’m only being used as a +1 follower to your count and lastly. If I no longer can see our muses interacting, either because their developments are clashing or plotting has taken nowhere.

I preemptively block users, that rub me in the wrong way. I also softblock users, when I don’t want them following my blogs. Take the L, don’t try to reach me out through other means. And for the love of God, don’t try sending people in an attempt to score an answer for you.

I don’t do well with people, who are CONSTANTLY moving around. Every other day making new blogs then abandoning old ones, picking up new muses and every so often changing their pen names. I’ve learned how there’s no enjoyment for me get out of those folks. I really need partners who wish to stick around, for the long run.

Just because we’re mutuals, and we’ve exchanged a few messages, it doesn’t mean we are friends. It’s nothing personal, but please let things take its natural course. I’ve been in this awkward situation, one too many times over the years.

I will not dumbify or tone down my portrayals, please, avoid muses that you know will touch on subjects that are touchy or make you uncomfortable. No hard feelings.

Shipping is FUN, but that’s not my priority. I’m definetely being a lot more chill in this blog about that, compared to my other ones. But still, I take huge enjoyment out of plotting & developing my muses. As such, shipping ends up taking the backseat most of the time.

It’s pretty easy to tell when someone is trying to befriend me, in hopes of scoring freebies from me. You guys aren’t being subtle at all...
