Hello! Long time no see. I’m back in the world of searching for roleplay partners now my life has calmed down a little and I have a lovely work from home job. I currently have one long term writing partner (writing together for probably about 4 years now… jeez) but I’d love to expand my horizons. I’ve done these call-out posts before but if you’ve commented/sent me a message before and I haven’t responded due to my own inactivity, please get back in touch! I’d love to chat and do trials with as many people as possible.

For my preferences, I am 25 so I definitely will not write with anyone under 18 (though I prefer 21+ just so I don’t feel so old). I tend to be an email role player these days but I’m probably going to kickstart my Discord again so am more than happy to write there.

I am fine with NSFW and dark themes as long as everything is discussed beforehand. I always have my own plot ideas but love it when my partner is into planning things out too. I can RP in text format and also literate, my responses tend to be between 1-3 paragraphs but I am happy to match length. Creative writing is a hobby for me and now I have time I’d love to flex my writing skills again.

Moriarty is down bad for the detective, isn't he? Sucks that so many people don't see beyond his odd demeanour.

There was literally no other explanation for his characterisation. It wasn’t even subtext to be honest. It was canonically explained how Moriarty was obsessed with Sherlock, he was writing his name in the walls. Sherlock was the only thing keeping Moriarty from his suicidal tendencies. And he was so flirtatious at him, although him being a villain and all, it could basically qualify for harassment.

He told him “we were made for each other Sherlock” while almost simultaneously hitting on him as a regular gay guy.

Having said that, if memory serves me correctly, back in the day more casuals acknowledged Moriarty’s lust for Sherlock than, say, Johnlock. Sheriarty or Moriarty’s feelings in specific were mostly denied by fanatic Johnlockers, because it was an unhealthy ship but in truth also because it was a threat to the major ship. And I say this as a Johnlocker myself.

I who believed in both ships being canon often felt pretty alienated, everything was either black or white.

In regards to Mark Gatiss' "playing with homoeroticism in Sherlock" interview question, is it possible he was talking about Sheriarty/Moriarty, not Johnlock here?

I associate homoerotic subtext mainly with those hero / villain "I need you, I want to destroy you, I want to kill you, but I don't want you to die because I need you, and they may be a deeper reason behind it) dynamics.

Johnlock on the other side, is mostly romantically coded, not sexually. And it's written more like a traditional romance, with the structure and the tropes.

I think you're referencing this interview here? I just reread it, and the part I have seems to just be talking about Sherlock as a whole, and doesn't reference any ship specifically, so I think it's safe to say that I believe it's for everything done for the show. Regardless, in another interview, I believe, post S4, he still admitted to putting it in there to essentially bring in an audience. To me it doesn't matter which pairing it's referencing, it's still kinda awful.

And yeah, I agree re: the romance. But that's the thing... why put it in there at ALL if they weren't going to follow through? It's kinda shady. They could have stopped it in S3. Maybe they didn't realize what they were doing, but I doubt it. Mofftiss, for all their numerous faults are neither dumb nor unaware of what they're putting in their own material. Moffat has put subtext in his shows for years. His run of Dr. Who was full of it. But inevitably, what they did is kept dragging it out and got pissy at the end.

But yeah, that's my very loose take on it. I've written about it before and I still think it's pertinent today.
