imagined companion dialogue for my durge, Izar! more under the cut because i think about her 85% of the time these days.

Izar is my second durge, and knowing the backstory, I wanted her to be someone who you could learn has the leadership and organisational skills to spearhead a doomsday cult and world-ending multi-god conspiracy and be like... yeah. okay, that tracks. so while her low approval is very impatient, and you get the sense she isn't going to listen to anything you say, medium is when she starts to see you as an ally and possible partner in getting through this mess, but only at high approval does she see you as the leader, and someone whose advice she'll trust.

similarly, when romancing her, she starts out flirtatious but fairly distancing, but after she tries to uh kill you in act 2, your belief in her makes her strangely optimistic-- until she learns about her past in act 3. the more she learns, the more she fears her drive and ambition are inextricably linked to the urge. she's struggling, and tries to keep the focus on you to stop herself from spiraling into despair.

if she accepts bhaal and isn't being romanced, she leaves the party and goes to join gortash, and either has to be killed when you kill him, or is also killed by the brain when you all go to try and control it. if she's being romanced, she tries to kill her partner as a final offering and has to be killed.

if she rejects bhaal, she's adrift but happy: mourning her lost memories and capacity, but ready to start anew and to be as open and trusting with her partner as she can be.
