Hector trying to get some science done at the Institute but a bunch of the poeple he ends up working with think he doesn't know that much bc they assume he was born post-war and wasn't educated like them. Eventually gets sick of it and has a "I've been doing this shit since before your great grandparents were born" moment, maybe even tries to dig up pre-war records of himself from the databanks to prove it

You tell ‘em, old man!

I feel like this can go a number of ways. Best case scenario is that it works, he’s now better respected and trusted to do his work well, people even come to him for advice.

I feel like this probably ends in Hector getting fed up and angry with someone, giving them a spook and a reminder that he’s not just a little science man, he’s also The Goddamn Overboss and perfectly able to fuck people up he dislikes enough. People have mixed feelings about him, some being able to see that he’s a good asset while others can’t get over whatever issue they have with him, but he gets left well enough alone to do his work.

Or, the underground science people hold onto their feelings of superiority and don’t believe him because the pre-war diploma he showed them was issued under a different name. And even if they believe that it’s him - if he can fake a name he can also fake a diploma.

Alternatively, he digs up the really really old video proof of him doing some instructional video, but uh oh, it’s for an outdated scientific method. And now people believe him that he’s old as fuck and has been in this field for a long time, but that also means he has tons of inaccurate knowledge and barbaric methods that are absolutely not up to par with Institute Standards, so he should really just fill out this list and not touch the experiments ever

Oh man, what if it does a 180 after it’s out that he’s together with Darryl? He gets Privileged Status because now he can have that without people getting suspicious about something they can’t know. And suddenly he has people trying to suck up to him because Power. And on the one hand it’s nice, finally people are listening to him, but on the other hand it feels all fake and insincere and at this point he’s not sure what’s worse - people being fake friendly because they want something out of it or people being sincere but rude to him
