It’s been a little over seven weeks since I missed a dyno (jump) and landed on the side of my left foot while climbing. I could barely walk for a couple of days but it was not broken (got an x-ray to make sure). It is now almost 100%. I can climb on it. I can jump again. The last thing that eludes me is triangle pose. I cannot get my front leg to straighten because of the scar tissue and tightness around the ankle. I’ll get there. Maybe another week or two. I can’t believe how much I am looking forward to doing something as simple as triangle pose again (without pain and the left leg straight)! I often teach a sequencing of one leg balancing poses and tell a little story with the pose. The story starts with a tree (pose) high upon a mountain top, in the light of the setting sun. An eagle (pose) lands on the tree, perching itself on top, so that it can see far and wide. It eventually spots its prey far below, a fish in the lake by the mountain. The eagle spreads its wings (the modified warrior 3 shape) and swoops down upon its prey. As the sun sets, the eagle is still in flight and turns to one side, twisting around the back side of the half moon (pose). Then we take the sequence in reverse back through the flying eagle shape, landing in eagle pose, and ending the story where it started in tree pose. Apollo 11 was the spaceflight that landed the first two people on the Moon. Mission commander Neil Armstrong and pilot Buzz Aldrin, both American, landed the lunar module “Eagle” on July 20, 1969, at 20:17 UTC. ... This shape is inspired by @iamafitmam and @luka.fotka. Even after several tries, I could get not get my lines to look as long as I would like. My left leg and right arm are farther from the camera and look short. I dropped all of my yoga classes at one of the studios where I used to teach. Yesterday was the last class. It was not an easy decision to let go of the classes, but it was necessary. The studio and the students are great. I just did not fit in there. My classes were not well attended. My teaching style was not well received. This pose looks simple, but the balance was crazy difficult for me. I fell over EVERY time. Swipe left for your original and one many bloopers. I could not get the feet perfect to save my life. ... So as we move forward with the project, I think it might help me to set some ground rules. (1) Does every shape have to be “new” or can we go back and catalog previous shapes? I feel like my “wings” shape and your “antenna” shape should be recorded as part this project at some point. (2) I assume that we are looking for shapes outside of traditional yoga poses (because that was the intention of the shape challenges). (3) Most of what we do is inspired by something that we’ve already seen. But can we outright copy shapes that we see too? (at Los Angeles, California)
