Intellectually I understand where people are coming from, but personally I do THE biggest double take every time someone boils down conservative Christian ideology (and/or secularized cultural reflections thereof) to a kind of dour puritanism that proclaims happiness is sin/suffering is a moral good/everyone should be miserable all the time. Like I get it! I do. But also, institutionally, I have never met a group of more passionate worshippers and vicious defenders of their own comfort than evangelical Christians. There is a reason the common thread between my various weird triggers more or less boils down to "toxic positivity." There is a REASON my exvangelical tag is #walking away from omelas.

There's a light humming in the air, a tune that seemed like idly nonsense to some, and something close to a lullaby to others. A dark clad figure in the one that's humming, his hands fiddling with something.

He only pauses when his phone rings.

"Heya, Mama. You actually have great timing; I just finished this job."

"So it seems, since you were able to answer. Though... you did answer a bit quickly. Did you forget to silence your phone again, Jinx~?"

Though the words were teasing, Jinx floundered a bit nonetheless. ""N-no! I mean... it was on, but it's fine! I'm already finished, and no one saw me--"

A pause. And then he tilts his head. And slowly turns his head behind him, bright green eyes locked on the figure behind him.

"...No one saw me before."

"Always pay attention to your surroundings, my dear treasure. Well, it cannot be helped... handle things, hm? Be sure not to attract more attention."

"Yes, Mama."

Hanging up, Jinx stands slowly. "Y'know, most people hear a noise going on in an alley, they usually turn the other way. It's typical human nature, y'know. Staying in your lane and all that."

And then the intruder turns to run, Jinx is suddenly right there in their face. "But then there's the people who wanna get nosy. Sucks that you're one of the latter... sucks for you, anyway."

With an easy little smile, Jinx taps a finger against the intruder's cheek, while a second Jinx is behind them with a knife at their throat.

"My Mama didn't say to hurry back home, so I'll take my time. We're gonna play a game. Let's see what breaks first. Your body, or your mind." And his eyes shift from bright green to glowing violet. "Let's put on a good show of madness for my patron."

The original 'virgin vs chad' meme

I feel like everyone is sick of those stupid soyjack vs Chad "my opinion is good and based and correct, your opinion bad and wrong and stinky" memes by this point, as they're some of the lowest forms of current internet 'humor.' But precisely because those memes are so bad and also everywhere, I feel it's worth giving some credit to the fact that the original "The Virgin Walk / The Chad Stride" was actually a brilliant meme.

"The Virgin Walk" image showed up first, and it was standard 4chan stuff - which is to say, highly negative. Just a whole bunch of random small traits that people can have, bundled together in an accusatory way to try and make people insecure about them having "virgin" posture, by the kind of people who genuinely worries about being an "alpha male" (Or possibly pointing out their own flaws as a form of self-hatred, flip a coin when it comes to 4chan)

And then, on another thread, someone made the Chad Stride edit to go along with it.

It's a great piece of satire by how simple it is. Just by taking the traits listed in the original image, then inverting and exaggerating them, the result is an absurd caricature of a man who does not (and should not) exist. Through exaggeration, it demonstrates how the people who constantly worry about seeming 'Chad-like' are chasing after behaviour that is utterly unhinged and disconnected from reality.

I think this gif demonstrates it perfectly by putting it in motion:

Virgin is a normal, if insecure dude. Chad is an absolute fucking maniac. (Not to mention all the references to violence in the image)

So, while it did degrade into those awful soyjak memes we all know and hate because that is the nature of the internet, I feel like it's worth remembering that in the original image that spawned this entire trend, you're supposed to laugh at Chad. Plants can evolve between monoecious and dioecious fairly quickly. I think the main application of being dioecious is that it prevents the plant from self-fertilizing, so whether mono- or dioecious is better mostly depends on whether selfing is useful in the current environment.
