Big infodump under the read more, if you like my OCs and/or agree with my flawless music taste this should be interdasting

1. MUSE - Thought Contagion

Vampire stuff, punk vibes, a nod to thriller, all of the above fit the mood of a FR show + the song is genuinely very good and I could see it being used on stage easily.

2. PAIN - Call Me

Absolute banger. But that's besides the point. I see this as being the bassist Jez/Jamie's song (with a side of Deuce as the second vocalist). Jez is a fairly quiet lad who generally keeps to himself but I always imagined that he’d be secretly very flirty and cheeky, but would mostly only really express it via music. I actually wrote a lil short story where most of FR's band (minus Rex and Isabella) find themselves in some dive bar after a show, and end up performing in the place of the no-show band that was meant to be there that night. That band ends up being the very same one that kicked Jez out, so it’s a bit of a revenge story for him. This short is on my discord by the by.

3. Emigrate - Eat You Alive

Oh boy, this is a strong one. Basically, just watch this video but pretend that Axl is Richard (the frontman). That’s it. That’s the explanation.

Being serious though, RZK is and always has been a huge influence for Axl's visual design, mannerisms and on-stage behaviours. On top of that, this is 100% the type of music he'd listen to, and the lyrics may as well just be plucked right outta his brain. Are the words meant to be aimed at Valeriya in a threatening way? Or is it a cheeky flirt with Trinity? Both? Neither? We’ll never know.

Also, completely unrelated I’m sure, here’s a wip you may or may not be able to force me to finish on stream via channel points soon...

4. Axel One - Out of the Dark

Can't exactly say much about this one cause it's spoilers, but I will say it's less about the song itself and more about the video, and that it does concern the one FR character who is already dead when the story begins.

5. Lord of the Lost - Raining Stars

Just seems to me like a real good song to perform to. I can imagine seeing acrobatic stunts in slow-mo to this track. That’s it for this one, just “I just think they’re neat”. Gorgeous song and video by an amazing band anyway though.

6. Oomph! - Supernova

Kinda the same deal as the Emigrate song, you can just insert Axl into this one in Dero’s place, along with Jez, Vlad, and Thatch. Once again the style and lyrics fit him perfectly, and this one earns bonus points since Dero is actually Axl's canon voiceclaim - specifically in this era of Oomph!’s music too.

7. Die Kreatur - Kälter als der Tod

At the risk of this thread becoming Oops All Axl TM - AH YES. This one is perfect for the point where Axl finally gets the fuck over himself, and stops being horrible to Vlad because of guitar jealousy, and they become bros.

Realistically, I doubt that Vlad - the clueless human vampire fanatic - will ever realise that Axl is a real actual vampire, but he'd be so glad that they seem to have this ~shared interest~ in them, and he'd by hyped as heck to do a performance like this with his guitar buddy. By the way, Vlad wonders to himself, isn’t it odd that he’s never seen Axl putting his fake fangs in?? Weird

As for the girl on the altar, there are a couple ideas I’ve toyed with. Random audience member for fun. Trinity but Axl gets mad jealous even though he thought and said he wouldn't. (No sharing!! Not even for jokes.) Valeriya but the poor thing is scared to the point of tears because this is just a little too close to a real experience for her and Vlad just can't figure out why. Axl insists she’s just being dramatic. Rex has to rescue her because she’s too shy to put her foot down.

Or perhaps Isabella would wanna join in, but she can't take it seriously and keeps laughing which just causes a chain reaction every time with even Axl cracking a smile. There are like a million cut takes now. Send help.

All in all a fun crossover to think about.

8. Adelitas Way - Still Hungry

This one is just Diesel’s anthem. This is the story of a young punk who can’t stop, won’t stop, never gives up and needs more. Right kinda music for him too.

9. MONO INC. - Shining Light

100% a full-cast song. I feel like the lyrics apply to a number of different things about various members of the circus' backstories, and their found family vibe together - if you think about them in super vague terms, at least. I liked to consider the vocals a duet between Rex and Isabella, being the two singers, but there are a couple lines that are kinda too adult for Bella and would make the duet sorta odd so ehhh 90% of it can be that, let’s say. (This is baring in mind that Isabella is an orphaned minor and Rex is like a father figure for her - as he kinda is for many of the members of the circus)

I also did a doodle of this. This one will also be on the force-me-to-work-on-this-WIP-live pile.

9.5. Lacrimosa - Lichtgestalt a.k.a the original version of Shining Light

Same song, just German and carrying a much darker, creepier tone. It fits in new, fun ways.

10. Oomph! - Viel zu Tief

Lyrics are very important for this one. Once again, music is the right style, Dero is still his voiceclaim, and Axl actually speaks German in canon (and NO I didn’t do that just so Oomph! songs fit him better, shUT UP)

11. Pet Shop Boys - It’s a Sin

Bit out of left field for this playlist, sure, but with all the controversy and extremely shakey morals in FR's world and with its characters, this one just seems fitting. Plus I'd want em to cover it for a show. Banger.

Honorable mention goes to Ghost’s cover of this song. I don’t even listen to Ghost but my reaction upon finding out this exists was like “lmao yes, of course, why wouldn’t they”.

This song in general I associate instinctively with Vlad, purely because its 80s and campy and I feel like he’d be the type to listen to Ghost.

12. Destiny Potato - Lunatic

Very strongly feel this is a performance song featuring Isabella. This song fits the character - and in particular her tragic backstoryTM pretty well. I’d even go so far as to say the singer would be a pretty good voiceclaim for her if her voice wasn’t meant to be more robotic in canon. This is pretty close to what I imagine, though. Strong n sweet.

13. Nightwish - I Want My Tears Back

One of the first songs I imagined to go well with stage performances. This one for sure would be a duet between Rex and Isabella.

Plus at about 3:10 there's a long solo with a bit of back-and-forth between the guitar and hurdy gurdy (I think?) that I could 100% see Axl and Vlad doing on guitar and keytar respectively.

15. Lindemann - Steh Auf!

So, this would be from Isabella’s perspective. Did I mention she was orphaned? Yeah. I guess this one is a little dark.

16. Otetsu & GUMI - Disordered Self-Restraint Girl

The song itself seems to be the story of a child who is trying to coax their parent/guardian into getting up and doing things, not realising that parent had passed away from a drug overdose. Drugs isn’t the way Isabella’s parents died, but the rest of the song fits that part of her backstory imo. Plus, it’s German, and Isabella is German, so yay!

Uh oh, vocaloid.

For a long time I've associated this one with Valeria, and her feelings towards the circus in the early days. After she's accidentally turned by Axl, Val gets effectively kidnapped by FR, taken in before she can even regain consciousness and completely against her will, since it would be incredibly irresponsible of them to just leave a fresh new vampire out in the world so they kinda don't have a choice. While she eventually finds her place and elects to stay after some time has passed, there was a period of time where she definitely would have felt trapped.

This is without even going into the fact that she's now stuck travelling and living with her would-be murderer, and - due to the fact that half of the circus don't even know non-humans exist, let alone what actually happened to Valeria - many of the people around her don't seem to care, or simply do not understand why she's so scared and stressed. It leaves her, at times, feeling like she could be killed tomorrow and nobody would give a shit.

(Don't worry, in reality Rex, Diesel, and Thatch are there for her & understand the shit she's going through. I promise the folks in the circus do actually care. It's just hard for her to see it in this period of time.)

On My Music Tastes, Organized in Approximate Order of “Weirdness”.

Super Normal

Some pop songs/rap. Not very much, especially for rap, but whatever. I do enjoy some Taylor Swift.

Classical. I do enjoy it. I am not remotely educated in it, but it is nice.

A Bit Niche but Normal

Epic music. Sometimes the same thing, maybe a sub genre. I need my music to have some energy. The day I learned there were entire bands focused on making music that plays during the epic battle scene of a movie was a great day.

Hymns/Chants. Not much to say on these. I do enjoy some, especially God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman, but they haven’t had a huge influence on my life.

You Still Haven’t Grown Out of That?

Nightcore/Dancey Trance EDM Stuff. Yeah, I still listen to that stuff. It’s actually most of what I listen to. See previous comment about needing energy from my music.

“Angstcore”. My personal name for the sub genre of nightcore where the nightcore process is applied to rock/emo songs. This has the effect of making any male(?) singer sound like a teenager, automatically enhancing the angst factor by at least 300%

Vocaloid. Yeah, I still listen (some) to this as well. I have no defense. Well, except for the fact that it was the first music I got into. Miku and Rin’s Promise was one of the first songs I ever enjoyed, and I think a lot of what drew me to it is what I still seek in music. Electronic sounds, high pitched voices, usually but not always female, a language I don’t understand, a moderately fast pace, though it’s slower than most of what I prefer. Yeah, I always have been musically retarded, to use the word it its most proper sense.

Maybe a Bit More Niche, Definitely a Weirder Community

Powermetal. Rock music but more intense and historical. Or to phrase it differently, rock music for white supremacists. IDK, that just seems to be a lot of the folks who listen to it. I’m a history nerd, okay! It’s good for weightlifting as well.

Bollywood. I’m not familiar with a huge variety of songs from this tradition, but I did used to sing Malhari from Bajirao Mastani when things were getting hot at the restaurant I used to work at. That’s the nice thing about being in the back of the house, you can do stuff like that.

Pretty Niche

Mongolian Throat Metal.  Metal, but featuring a traditional form of Mongolian singing. I just wanna say, there was at least one song in this genre that I enjoyed before The Hu came along. I liked it before it was cool. Yeah, mega hipster points.

Wait What??

Nasheeds. Islamic hymns. Only really odd in the context of an agnostic white American guy who has never lived in a remotely Muslim area, only ever had one Muslim friend, and doesn’t know any Arabic beyond insha’allah and shahada. In that context, rather odd. These hymns usually (but not always) come from a tradition of a cappella music. I don’t understand the full theological reasoning, but at various times and in various places, Islam has had issues with instrumental music. Nasheeds were then the permissible music. Trying to sing along with these was also the reasons that I said Shahada a great many times without realizing it’s significance. Sorry!

Yeah, I have no real excuse for this, besides my infinite love for the oddness that the internet can produce. It is quite likely heretical, and plenty of people may find it an offensive idea. Post 8 Facts About Your Character, and Tag 8 Other Characters

1.)-- Her father is Sanae Hanekoma. To the public, he’s known under the famous alias CAT, but they think CAT is actually multiple people. But no, CAT is a single person, and that person is her father. CAT gets a lot of revenue from various projects that Mr. Hanekoma works on (albums, art, fashion, you name it). Which might mean that Runa’s rich right? Well, you’re not wrong, Mr. Hanekoma does put aside some of the money he earns for himself and his daughter, but what they don’t use goes to charities. And even then Runa doesn’t even /see/ herself being a rich person. She doesn’t flaunt her money all over the place, she doesn’t buy the flashiest clothes, and she doesn’t live in a penthouse with servants or anything like that. She has an allowance, she has to do chores, she lives in an apartment with her father above the WildKat Cafe. They don’t want to be seen as rich, so they mainly appear and act Middle Class for the most part, especially Runa. What she does do is ask her father for video games and game consoles, and, when she gets into band, instruments (ones he doesn’t already own of course). So Runa’s room has gathered various consoles throughout her years like a Nintendo GameCube(5), a PlayStation2 and 3(6 and 10), a PSP(8), and a DSi(13), and the Wii(10) that they have is in the family room. (they did have an Xbox and Xbox360, but they gave those away). Mr Hanekoma only had to buy one instrument, since he already owned the ones she wanted to try/learn. It was a Flute. A little perk she likes though to being “wealthy” is that she can treat her friends that like CAT’s stuff or concert tickets to see 777. This all comes out of her paycheck and the money set aside for her of course.

2.)--Speaking of parents, let’s talk about her mom Calista! Runa’s legal first name is Rukaru, named after her grandmother. Calista did it in a way to make it like she’s making amends for her own mother (Grandma sadly passed away after having a fight with Calista prior to her marriage to Sanae). Calista has felt guilty about it for a while, being that she still loved her mother dearly. So she named her daughter Rukaru Hika, but she wouldn’t /call/ her that. Her “nickname” came from the time the twins were born, Sora after the sky above, and Runa after the full moon shining through the window. Runa and her mother’s relationship started off well, they loved and cared about each other. They were a big happy family. But when Hanekoma went back to his world (Calista knew), Calista said that he was off on a business trip. Time went by, and when Runa asked about where her father was and why he wasn’t home, the two got into a fight, starting with Runa saying it was Calista’s fault. This is by no way true, but one cannot help but think. Runa disappeared that night and ended up in Shibuya. Things just don’t work out like they should huh..? Both of them regret that fight so much and wish things had been different.

3.)--Runa has similar passions to her father and mother. They both shared a heavy passion for music (Sanae actually first met Calista when he saw her playing a guitar and singing on a bench by the beach on Destiny Islands), and Runa had that same passion, loving all types of music. If the music had a meaning or a story behind it, that was even better!! She also took an interest in creating music when she saw Hanekoma work on an album one day when he had to take her with him to a recording studio. She was like 5 or 6 when she missed a school day because she had a cold, and he couldn’t leave her unattended at the cafe. And god forbid he let Joshua watch his kid. Ever since then, she always peeks in on her father when he’s working on an album in the studio above them. She starts taking band classes in 5th grade, picking the Flute. 

4.)--Speaking of music, she /loves/ to sing. Wanna go karaoke? She’s there with you! Runa has a good singing voice, and when she was little she wanted to be an idol. One of the things that inspired her to sing, besides her father, was when he took her to an NSync concert. She started singing a lot more after that. Runa still hasn’t lost that passion for singing or music, but she doesn’t see herself being an idol of any sorts any more. She finds joy in just making covers of her favorite songs and listening to her music on her ipod on walks around the shopping district of Tokyo. One of her other inspirations is Michael Jackson. Another is anybody that uses the VOCALOID program, because damn.

5.)--Runa had tried doing graffiti once. Yeah.... She’s not that good at doing it, so she’ll leave that talent to her father. Runa likes trying to see which of the things her dad can do that she cannot do. Graffiti being one of them, the other things on that list include: Playing the Tuba, playing the Drums, Photoshop (she’s getting a bit better at that), and furniture designing (like why). She /is/ good at: Sketching, Drawing, Painting, Remixing, Cooking (better than her father), and playing the Flute, Bass Guitar, Guitar (her father’s still better), and Trombone. There’s a bagpipe and a didgeridoo somewhere in the studio she saw once, and she’s been wondering if her father knows how to play it.  

6.)--Runa’s a polite and friendly person. She really tries to be at least. You might see her trying to be nice to someone that’s being mean to her. But, she wasn’t like that, not when she first arrived in Shibuya. Being raised from birth up until she was 5 on Destiny Islands, she was a pretty open, loud, rambunctious, happy-go-lucky child. More so when Sora, Riku, and Kairi were beside her. But there was a huge cultural difference (at least to her) when she started living in Shibuya with her father. Suddenly, that personality wasn’t exactly “accepted” at the local school Hanekoma enrolled her in. Some kids made fun of her for acting the way she did. One day in 3rd grade, some kids even went out of their way to physically harm her on her way back from school. She ran into Hanekoma’s arms, crying, telling him all that had happened since she got into school. “I wanna go back home!!” She’d cry, burying her face into his chest.  Hanekoma explained that she couldn’t, that he can’t take her back /there/ even if he wanted to. The road between had been broken. He soothed his daughter by telling her to live life the way she wanted to. It didn’t matter what others thought of her, and if they thought she was weird, screw them, they didn’t deserve to know her. Their thoughts shouldn’t change the way she sees herself. And that’s how she started to live her life. She lived the way she wanted, and acted the way she wanted. The next day, she stood up to her bullies when they made fun of her in a way she knew how: with a smile and a hard shove towards the shoe lockers. 

7.)-- So Runa’s been bullied as seen above. After that pep talk, and when Runa decided to ignore them and stood up for herself when she needed to, the bullies stopped. She even gained some friends (since they bullied other kids as well). But, then came middle school. A whole new playing field. And the bullies were at it again. One day, one of her friends was being bullied, they were taking his belongings and throwing them all over the place, two of them were playing Monkey in the Middle with his backpack after school. She beat them up, taking the broom she was using to clean up the classroom as a weapon. It was three vs one, and Runa didn’t win. But neither did they. The bullies were caught and expelled, but since Runa started the fight and despite being in the right, she too was expelled. Her friend met up with her after talking with the teacher about the situation, but stopped in his tracks when he saw the look on her bruised face and her father beside her (He wasn’t disappointed, she did what she had to do). Runa told him that she was expelled for standing up for him, to which he tried to apologize for. Runa shook her head and reassured him that it was fine. All she hoped for was that even if they were going to different schools, that they stay in contact. Fast-Forward a few weeks later, Runa’s attending a school all the way on the other side of Tokyo, commuting there everyday. The two of them still talk, he visits the cafe sometimes. But, one day he had to move away to the States a year later. He stopped talking after that.

8.)--Well, this is getting depressing and angsty. LET’S END WITH A FUN FACT ABOUT RUNA!! :D and one that is actually somewhat kingdom hearts related please.  Runa has a few odd abilities that she can do, and she’s not exactly sure as to why for some of them. The Keyblade, being one of them. She’s still not sure why it chose her when Shibuya started to fall to Darkness, but she’s glad that it did. It seems like her Keyblade doesn’t regret it’s choice either. Her Keyblade is the Kingdom Key (a friend of mine drew her with the KIngdom Key D, and that spewed out another headcanon), and (based on a FB RP) as a gift. on their 17th birthday, Sora gives a custom made keychain for her Keyblade. It’s called Sketcher’s Design and when equipped she can draw out a Keyblade design. Whatever she comes up with, any stats she gains is based off of the design. Her first design is based off her mother and brother and the Blizzard Spell: Gives 20% increase on Blizzard Resistance and Strength, 10% in Light Strength, and +1 AP. Runa can also just /slightly/ see the UG. It’s kinda like looking through a foggy window, Players and Reaper Wings are blurry to her. But seeing the UG isn’t a constant thing she sees, it comes and goes randomly. Sometimes it gives her a headache. And the last thing (for now), is that she /has/ a Dream Eater as a sort of /pet/. She keeps it up in the apartment above WildKat, but as far as she knew (which was as far as the TWEWY gang knew, more specifically Joshua), is that Dream Eaters belong in the Realm of Sleep, which was where the TWEWY gang was. So the fact that she was able to manifest a Dream Eater was a bit alarming. She loves it, don’t get her wrong, and she can’t exactly make it disappear or manifest others, so she has no problems there, it was just hard explaining to Eri what the heck this thing was doing in her arms when she visited the next day. Runa’s Dream Eater is a Meow Wow named Yume Omoi（夢おもい）which translates to either Dream Heavy or Dream Feelings.

☂ - favorite season?Winter!!  Nice and cool AND you dont have school for two weeks lmao

✐ - fave types of movies?Generally animated; I enjoy animation and movie animation tends to be consistently pretty high-quality (even the fucking emoji movie looks pretty decent) not to mention live action movies always seem to have really bad sound mixing??  Meaning important things you NEED to hear like whispering are too quiet and explosions are too loud even when you dont change the tv volume.  But even then, saying I prefer animated movies isn’t exactly accurate because….I haven’t gone to the theater for a single animated movie this year.  The only ones so far that I would’ve considered were Lego Batman (which I have on dvd now but i havent watched) and Cars 3.  I’m hoping to see Coco in theaters but other than that….i can wait for it on dvd or just not watch it at all because I’d prefer to rewatch a movie I like.

I also dont like calling animated movies a genre, so if we’re going by genre, I’d say fantasy-adventure stories tend to be my favorites, but sci-fi can be fun as well.  I just want a good, heartfelt story that doesn’t take itself so seriously that you can’t have fun but also takes itself seriously enough that you really feel for the characters.

♪ - music you like?GOD I WISH I KNEW??  I’ll literally listen to everything from vocaloid to mainstream pop to techno music to video game OSTs and everything in-between and outside of that.  I’m generally more picky with rap music, techno/electronic music, and just anything that gets screechy or is too intense with its instrumentals, but….I can listen to hard metal music when im trying to fall asleep at night, so i mean.

✌ - favorite bands/ singers?Again, god I wish I knew.  I have a tendency to think “oh, this is alright, I’ll listen to a few of this artist’s songs” and then moving on and never thinking about them again.  One artist that I’ve come back to repeatedly is Sabrina Carpenter though, her music is nice and a few of her songs are some of my all-time faves, its probably not for people who cant stand mainstream pop tho.  Also shout out to Mystery Skulls for officially licensing Mystery Skulls animated instead of taking them down for copyright infringement lmao also their music is some of the techno music that i actually like

♒ - fave animes?I havent watched enough animes aaAAAA but I will always and forever love Digimon.  Like I dont think any anime will surpass the personal attachment I have to the Digimon series.  It’s just so silly and charming and for a long time it was the best thing I had ever seen and it’s honestly still just….really enjoyable.  (Honestly it gives me fossil fighters vibes, I think I like them both for the same reason tbh)  Digimon Adventure is definitely my favorite, Tamers is really good but I actually have a bit of a personal bias against Tamers because it scared me as a kid :’D its still a good season tho and i appreciate it a lot more now that im older.  And FRONTIER IS ACTUALLY GOOD, PEOPLE CAN FIGHT ME it’s got the same vibe as the first four seasons, even if the concept seems vastly different, and is really enjoyable if you arent blinded by your love for the digimon partners in the old series.  After that though its kinda….ehhh.  Data Squad and Fusion didnt have the same feel, although Fusion did it much better, but…its just not the same.  I really dislike Marcus so it makes Data Squad less enjoyable, plus i just…idk, it doesnt seem to have as much life as the first four seasons and is written and animated in a different way to me.  Fusion is kinda interesting in the second arc (ive only seen the first three arcs; the third arc/seventh season [idk which it is] hasnt been dubbed yet so…) but it takes itself too seriously because it removes its primary comic reliefs - and also the best characters - after the end of the first arc.  So we’re left with the Digimon as the only comic reliefs and….ehhh….theyre not as good.  Also I havent seen the Appmon anime and idk how good it is but im still salty that they stole the name of the project that ive had floating around in the back of my head for years so i havent done anything related to Appmon.  AND Digimon Tri is good but i still need to catch up on it ahaha cries (planning to get a trial at crunchyroll to watch the last two parts when the last part comes out)

But enough about Digimon.  Besides Digimon, I really did enjoy Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood; I do have some gripes with the series (namely the earlier episode and how much happens in the earlier episodes vs how much happens in the later episodes, so pacing problems basically) but it’s still really good and I LOVE AL.  There was an anime I watched with my dad several years back called Blue Dragon that I remembered enjoying a lot, but then disowning because it turns out in the original my favorite character was a perfect example of the anime pervert trope.  Dubs are fun lmao.  But I feel like I’d pick up more on the changes they made between the two versions now (the sub version being riddled with swears and innuendos, and the dub version being dubbed for kids) and probably wouldnt enjoy it as much anymore.  I also barely remember shit about it except a plot twist at the end that i spoiled for myself but still had no idea it was coming.  I was like 11 when i watched it, its been a long time.

❦-.fave characters?Well I already mentioned loving Al, but I also love Pidge from VLD, Amanda from Dream Daddy, Baymax and Hiro from BH6, and Napstablook from Undertale.  Also like all of the main characters in Fossil Fighters Champions but shhh.

I really want to add Hunk to this list but honestly as the seasons in VLD go on it becomes more and more apparent to me that he’s just a running fat joke; Lance looks like he could be building up to something, but I haven’t got a clue where Hunk could go besides more of the same.  So :’) my boy deserves better, he can join the group again when Dreamworks gets its shit together.  Sorry Hunk, I still love you and I’d treat you better if you were mine (//looks at my characters all burning in hell and sweats// well maybe not better but…)

I try to live my life by the policy of “do to others as you would have them do to you.”  That’s like my number 1 rule about doing anything.  I dont understand how people can be intentionally dicks to other people or so something that they would hate happening to them; what, dont you realize that other people have the same feelings as you?  I know I’ve hurt other people but still, it’s always been in instances where the pros outweighed the cons if I put themselves in their shoes.

Good advice to give? hm I have realized lately, that if you think there is a flaw with you as a person, then if you really try you can actually fix that flaw! that sounds dumb and obvious but it’s actually revolutionary if you take the steps to get over it

for example, are you scared of talking to people? yeah so am I but you can work in getting better at it, first you start small by for example working on initiating conversations with people online bc I know a lot of people feel less shy online, then you can extend that to maybe meeting some of the people you’ve gotten to know online in real life (tumblr may not always be the best site for this but something that’s actually linked to your real-life identity like FB works), and wow! you’re talking to someone, that you befriended all on your own, in real life!! that’s fantastic

Wagakki Band -- Rokuchounen to Ichiya Monogatari (have you ever heard a Vocaloid song and thought, “hey the melody is kind of catchy but these vocals are horrible”? you probably haven’t because stomaching the vocals in the first place is impossible, but anyway, Wagakki Band may mostly cover Vocaloid songs but they do a really good job of it and give their songs a nice classic Japanese flair thanks to the choice of instruments. great vocalist too :D!)

Interview #6 - Marc (Modern AU)

Apparently, I really like doing these interviews. It’s just a lot of fun to figure out what the answers to these questions would actually be. This one is Marc, the modern au version of Marcurio. All of these questions are pulled from the (very short) Modern AU Asks List. Apparently the Keth family is rich now? Dunno, I don’t question these things. I feel like I’ve always known it, but never really realized it before.

WARNING: Question 9 goes into a bit of Marc’s childhood with his birth family. It’s not a lot, or particularly detailed, but it’s there.

1. What music genre do you listen to? (#2)

M: (flushes and glances to the side) A mix, really. Mostly classical, a little bit of rock, and much more Vocaloid than I really want to admit.

2. Do you have a favorite band/artist/singer? (#18)

M: Hmm... not really. I have a few cover artists I like because their voices sound nice, but I wouldn’t really say I have any favorites.

3. Do you like makeup/nail/beauty trends? (#13)

M: Promise not to laugh? Yeah, I do. Why should looking nice be just for girls? Besides, it’s sort of a family-wide interest, so it’s a bonding activity, really.

4. Did you go to college? What did you major in? (#37)

(M grins. This topic seems to make him very excited.)

M: Actually, I’m in my first year. I’m studying Applied Destruction Magic with an emphasis on Shock, and double minoring in Theoretical Destruction Magic and Applied Alchemy. It would be Applied Restoration Magic instead of Alchemy, but it turns out I have very little talent in that field. It was a difficult choice, what with the sheer number of interesting fields - Theoretical Illusion Magic, Applied Enchanting, Theoretical Summoning, Summoning History, and that’s only on the magical side of things. There’s a combat program where you can choose a class of weapon with an emphasis on a specific item like a dagger or a quarterstaff, and your entire degree is ‘I know how to use this weapon really well’. Surprisingly, those degrees are just as respected as the rest; you’re still considered an educated person. And of course there are a vast array of history and language and art and geography and political science and all other sorts of programs.

6. Do you have a cell phone? What kind? (#34)

M: I do. It’s not a Telvanni Smoothface, because Mom has a vendetta against the entire house, but it’s one of those Imperial re-creations. It’s just as good, really, and costs less than half as much. 

7. Do you tip well? (#23)

M: Why wouldn’t I? I can certainly afford it - I could tip two hundred percent on every purchase I made for the rest of my life without blowing through all of my portion of the Keth fortune, much less the entire thing. I don’t actually tip quite that extreme, but I do try to leave twice as much as is expected.

8. What fandoms are you in? (#6)

(M’s face lights up; this is the most excited he has looked the entire time.)

M: Well I don’t follow all that many at once - I don’t have the time or energy - but the ones I do follow I put a lot of energy into. I’m only really following three right now.

M: So first off there’s this animated project that isn’t officially sponsored, The Secret’s Children, which is all about this group of school friends who learn that they’re half-siblings who all share a father. They start looking into it and they eventually find out that Arnisis Macilus, the man they were told was their father, never existed in the first place. They’re still looking for the truth, but my current theory is that they’re demiprinces.

M: Then there’s Servants of the Serpent, which is a sort of historical drama book series set in the First Era about a cult that worships Sep. It’s fairly Yokudan-inspired, as you can probably tell from the name.  A lot of people think it would be dry and boring, but the writers are incredibly skilled at dramatizing the events of the story. Also, the way they bring the historical characters to life without contrasting the records we have of them is amazing. I will say that the fandom is fairly disturbing though - I mostly enjoy this one in isolation.

M: The third is called Stolen Thought, it’s a live-action dramedy that tells the story of a necromancer’s thrall who starts to throw off the spells keeping her docile. But the spells don’t just fail, they sort of start flickering; it’s like she randomly blacks out without warning. She has to try to get out without being discovered. This one actually just dropped a massive plot twist - Mirasa, that’s the main character, just got a look at a recent record from the outside world and learned that two entire eras went by before the spells started to fail.

9. Can you sing well? (#19)

M: I personally don’t think so, but the rest of my family does. I do realize that hating my voice is one of the last wounds left from my birth family, however, and I’m working on it. I don’t know that I’ll ever like my voice, but I’ve already come so far - when I first came here, I wouldn’t speak at all because I thought my voice was disgusting. Everything was written or signed. As you can see, I’ve managed to get past that idea, so I’m holding out hope for my singing voice as well.

10. What is your niche on Tumblr? (#4)

M: I’m really more of a lurker than a contributor, it tends to be either completely random nonsense or fandom theories and headcanons.
