#season 3 and 4 are just sooooo frustrating

Whoops I started thinking about it too much, so here’s 

LITTLE WAYS I’D FIX AGGRETSUKO (without deviating too much from the original!)

Season 1:

I wouldn’t change much tbh this is a great season! But the one thing I’d tweak is that I’d want Haida and Retsuko to have a more interesting dynamic, where you can see him bringing out flashes of her more energetic, abrasive self before she hides back in her “polite work persona” again. I would also have him explicitly confess to her at the end of the season and have her turn him down, with him having the same realization of “I don’t really know her that well”. He’ll take the rejection well and for the next season he’s JUST her friend and vows to get to know her for herself more.

Season 2:

Again, I wouldn’t change much but I’d waaaaay tone down Haida’s jealousy and stalkery tendencies; just lean on him being a fanboy of Tadano and then being concerned about Retsuko’s health in the second half (I will allow a wistful look, but nothing more). I think I’d actually introduce Inui here as Haida’s new girlfriend and they’d date probably up until either halfway through season 3 or the start of season 4.

Season 3:

The first half of this season can mostly stay the same but I would absolutely have Retskuo stay in the band at the end; like she can definitely keep her day job, the other band members work them too. But Haida and Fenneko are also just supportive of this. Retskuo probably tries to hide it from them out of embarrassment so we can have an episode or two of shenanigans but there’s no guilt tripping her into staying at her office job that she hates. 

The Inui drama that happens in the original season gets rewritten and will somewhat mirror Retsuko’s breakup with Tadano. Inui can get an opportunity that requires her to move while Haida is moving up in the company or something and they have to decide if the relationship is worth one of them giving up their dream/career opportunities. They’d decide to amicably break it off there, though they’re both really sad about it. Maybe there can be a scene where Retskuo is comforting a sad Haida and he says something like “thanks for being such a good friend through all this :(“ and she can maybe feel something like “oh I actually want to be more then his friend now” at the very last minute.

I also would not have Haida drag Retsuko away from her parents home SO SOON after being attacked, like have it start actually turning into a problem that they need to pull an intervention on. Like maybe Haida invites her to a friendly hangout and it’s only the temptation of karaoke that draws her out, and even then she can’t bring herself to do the heavy metal stuff until Haida starts playfully yelling at her with rock music. Also all the band members show up and tell her they love her and to stay with the band.

And to reiterate!!! Haida and Retsuko’s banter will have been growing more earnest and and like... playfully bickery! One of the main issues I have with them as a pairing is that every conversation they have Retskuo is so painfully polite and impersonal, compared to how she is with any of her other friends in the show. Show them “getting closer” by having their conversations actually be meaningful and fun.

Season 4:

Pretty much none of the Haida and Retsuko stuff is salvageable here ugh. In this hypothetical canon I’ve constructed, I think it would work okay to keep Haida reluctant to approach Retsuko romantically, since she’s already turned him down once, he’s still getting over his breakup with Inui, and he’s very conscious of Retsuko still recovering from getting attacked at the end of the previous season. I think I would have it so that he THINKS he might be getting signals from her, but not wanting to overstep any boundaries. 

I would keep their character interactions consistent at least by having them continue guitar lessons and having him drive her to band practice (Fenneko can come too, maybe she can start seducing the leopard band manager or something) A lot of Retsuko’s arc here can be a combination of A) recovering from the attack and learning to find joy in the band again and B) Coming to terms with her new feelings for Haida, since they’ve been actually forming a good healthy friendship the last three seasons and he saved her life at the end of the last one. She can also either decide she wants to keep singing in the band OR she decides to step back from actually being a member and just wants to do the accounting. Either way she stays with them though!

I’m not sure about the office drama... I really like the stuff with Ton so I definitely want to keep that part of it there, but I’d take out the Haida being jealous and running off to the evil new president because of it stuff because that was irritating. MAYBE Haida could be getting blackmailed into being a patsy and the reason he doesn’t tell Retsuko is that he’s trying to protect her and not wanting to burden her.

Their big emotional finale can be either Retskuo just finding out about the mess Haida’s gotten himself into or he can come clean with her himself, and she can tell him that she WANTS him to burden her with things like this because she cares about him!!!! And they get together! He probably still looses his job though, sorry Haida.

Season 5:

This season can also mostly stay the same thankfully, though I think I’d take out the losing all his money to gaming parts with Haida and Retskuo thinking he’s cheating on her because. Sigh. 

Just have him get evicted from his apartment after running out of money on rent and food and is unable to find a new job because of how he’s been blacklisted from the accounting world. He can just be too embarrassed to tell her, and his judgemental father can help reinforce where he got this behavior from.

Other then that, I think I’d just bump up the Retskuo running for a political office to start a little sooner in the storyline and maybe have a few more interactions with Haida and Retsuko’s parents.

Splatfests

oh boy, this may get long but, I just need to get this off my chest.

The current state of the Splatfests has been frustrating to say the least. Especially for Frye fans.

Like, for starters, the mirror matches. Holy hell, that needs to be addressed! I need to know if Japan faces the same issue that we have because it can’t just be us! I want to know how they feel on the current status of the game. It feels so disheartening and demotivating to play Splatfests when mirror matches are an issue that Nintendo never addresses or fixes.

And please stop saying it’s a skill issue when one team keeps getting mirror matches. THEY DO NOT CONTRIBUTE CLOUT FOR THEIR RESPECTIVE TEAM!!! What are we supposed to do?! Please tell me!

And another thing! Why is it that when Shiver and Big Man get the popular vote, they end up winning, but when Frye does, she’s guaranteed to lose? How does that even happen? Is the game not programmed for 3 teams? Is the game itself biased against Frye? What is going on there?!

The maps for the Splatfest have been awful. Like, are they even trying at this point? Is anyone play testing at all?!

There are sooooo many more problems for me to list. Spawn camping, the themes, connection issues, etc.

Where did the love go? Why are games becoming so lackluster and awful? I’m worried about the state of gaming as a whole. Pokemon is a prime example of the lack of care, and that’s why Palworld exists! It’s why Palworld is so well liked because the developers showed care. I don’t want to see Splatoon end up in the same state. I love these games, and I want them to thrive. I just wish companies would take their time with these games! If we have to wait for them to properly work, that’s fine! It’s not going to be the end of the world if we don’t get it immediately.

If Nintendo plans to make a Splatoon 4, they should not do 3 teams again if they’re not going to fix the issues in Splat 3.

I think this is why the energy for Splatoon 3 is dwindling down. And the new season kits and lack of more new maps added to that. I don’t think I can blame them.

Frye fans, we need to conjugate together and come to terms that she will never win another fest. It’ll be easier on us when we come to terms with it for Splatfests.

Just finished the 3rd season of Young Royals and here are my thoughts and opinions:

1. I actually do feel bad for August and kind of forgive him. What he did was shitty but I feel like this scene gave him some sort of look into his past and his problems. I think the letter he read to Sara was really important and meaningful now I just wish he would have read it to Wille.

2. Sara may be annoying a lot of the time but I honestly forgive her too. August was her first love and she did something stupid. I think she needs to start being a better sister to Simon but I really liked her storyline with her dad and think it added some depth to her character.

3. Simon breaking up with Wille on his birthday after he just got into a huge fight with his parents was sooooo wrong. Like saying “I didn’t even recognize you” is so fucked up considering his circumstances. Enough said.

4. I understand Simon’s frustration with Wille and how he doesn’t use his power for good or take a stance and how Wille doesn’t understand his privilege. I think those points are all fair. But I don’t think Simon tries to understand Willie’s perspective enough either. How he has no freedom and can’t be himself. Like Simon dealt with that for a couple weeks and that was enough for him to break it off.

5. Justice for Felice because her friends suck. When she mentioned how she’s treated differently at the school because of her race her friends literally said “Felice you are beautiful” and she was like “umm thanks but that’s not really what I was getting at”

6. I just really want August and Wille to make up because I feel like they could really support each other. The only person who could really understand the pressure Wille is under is August.

7. I think that everyone kinda glossed over Willie’s trauma about his brother dying. He has been through so much and I feel like he didn’t get enough of a grace period.

What does a time jump of 1.5 years mean for Mike and Will?!?!

Hahaha, it's so fascinating thinking about how they're gonna pull this off, exactly. That's a LONG TIME in the formative years of teenagerdom. We're missing the entirety of sophomore year. I've seen three schools of thought for this one.

IDEA 1: Episode 1 - Mike and El have a moment where they break up by the end of the episode, since I really am pretty sure this episode will entirely be pre-1987 jump. I feel like it's going to be a full episode instead of just a small portion. It's a big ask to go from the end of season 4 to Hawkins in 1987. Possibly, we establish by the end of this that Mike and El are separating as she needs space and she's going into hiding.

IDEA 2: Time jump, Mike and El were unclear/together at the end of episode 1, time jump, then we see that they have broken up or slipped away from each other like we saw with Lucas and Max in season 4. I'm not sure the show would repeat this twice, though we know that sometimes they do repeat lines - but with a switch up! So I'm not sure. A tell not show situation.

IDEA 3: Mike and El are technically together in concept only. El's in hiding, they don't see each other or talk much, going through the motions, but then we see them have a conversation about where they stand, their friendship, etc.

I'm sure there are more IDEA 4, 5, 6... I can come up with. What ideas and timeline possibilities do you guys think? My mind can spin about a dozen others but these are common ones I've landed on listing. It's so damn complicated it drives me crazy.

WILL THOUGH it's so much, it's so sad. A lot of people say that he's going to have taken the time to have moved on from Mike because he's lost all hope - that's so unrealistic, he's not going to move on from that boy. He's in love and that love is painful. I think he's definitely lost most hope, but that doesn't mean he's not going to drive himself crazy with pining and longing and hating himself for feeling the way he feels. It's just going to be worse than ever before, and Henry is going to capitalize on that to torment and torture the poor boy. All the while, the plot throwing Will into even more tension and confusion being with Mike all the time. I'm really starting to lean into him having lived at the Wheeler's for a significant amount of time.

They are so entwined. What life experiences have we missed from them? That's a lot of time. A lot of time to grieve, to rekindle friendships. Are the boys still playing DnD? Have they reunited as the Party? They've got lives to live - they can't have been just plotting vengeance and living on the edge all that time. We are missing 2 summers!! That's a lot of downtime away from school. The Mike and El factor is incredibly frustrating - in the way that there are sooooo many ways it can go and I honestly cannot settle on how I feel plot-wise. A YEAR AND A HALF is such a significant span of time for every element of the show.

AND HOW DOES THE PAINTING FIGURE IN TO ALL THIS?? HOW DID I FORGET ABOUT THE PAINTING?? Wow it's getting wild out here, I literally forgot about this very important aspect. Gotta move on. Continuously confused and insane.

Anime I Watched in 2021 Part 3:

21. Tokyo Revengers 4/5

Sighhhhh this one. This one. THIS ONE!! The frustration that this one caused me! I know that all MC’s don’t need to be physically strong to be interesting but jeeze Louise this MC needed some serious physical development. I really wanted to enjoy it like everyone else but my stress levels were way too high 🤦🏽‍♀️

22. Violet Evergarden 5/5

Another anime that made me consider therapy. Thankfully the visuals were so beautiful that I didn’t need to go so far. I started to watch this last year but decided to drop because it wasn’t interesting to me at the time but jokes on me because now I can’t get it out of my mind.

23. Akudama Drive 5/5

This is seriously an underrated gem of an anime. If you’re looking for character development this is the one. If you want an interestingly unique story with a new world setting, this is it. If you want to simp over morally gray characters then look no further. If you hadn’t watched this one please give it a try.

24. Yasuke 2/5

I had such high hopes for this one. I actually saved the date and everything for this one only for it to be a huge letdown ☹️. They could’ve gone so many ways with this story but they went soooo far from the original story that everything felt like one big mess.

25. Komi Can’t Communicate 5/5

Ahhhhh the cuteness of this anime was too dang much. I seriously loved this one. I think I may actually rewatch because it was just so damn cute. There isn’t a character that I didn’t like from this anime. I’m counting down the days for season 2.

26. Jujutsu Kaisen 5/5

Yooooo this one took me by surprise. I went into this one completely blind and boy am I glad that I did. That first episode had me hooked. The action, the comedy, the characters were all amazing. And I really appreciate that there are age appropriate characters for me to simp for 🥲. Also the day Toji gets animated I might seriously combust!

27. Dr. Stone Season 2 5/5

This season was shorter than expected but it was still very much enjoyable. I literally learn so much from this anime than I ever did and in school. Really can’t wait for the next season that I’m considering reading the manga.

28. Horimiya 5/5

I’m kinda torn with this one tbh. It was a wonderful anime. The animation, the scores, the character designs, the voice acting were all spot on, but as a manga reader I was severely disappointed. There was sooooo much content that was left out to fit everything into one season. I’m really glad that we have an anime but I was really looking forward to seeing its entirety animated.

29. SK8 Infinity 5/5

Tik Tok led me to this one. Not a day went by that a video would pop up on my FYP about this anime. It was like the universe was telling me: this one, this one, look at this one and I did. I didn’t have any expectations but I was blown away. Thank you Tik Tok for recommending this gem to me.

30. World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated 4/5

I almost dropped this one midway ngl. The first episode drew me in, the second piqued my interest but by the 6th episode it started to get repetitive that I got bored. Thankfully I managed to continue and I’m glad the last few episodes were a bit better. At least the opening was a banger.

Top 5 "i didn't think i'd like them but i dooo" about fictional characters

OHHHH this one is so hard. i think instead of ranking them on how much i like them i'm going to rank them on how dramatic the flip was, because that's a bit more objective. i am paranoid i am forgetting somebody but here we are:

arthur pendragon, whomst i wanted DEAD for being so shitty about hating magic and so shitty to merlin - and then i watched 2.08 where he snapped and tried to kill his own father for murdering his mom and it flipped my brain inside out. i'm sure there have been more dramatic flips in my life but if there have i can't remember them

cullen rutherford, who frustrated me in da2 and creeped me out during da:o (played them in that order) and finally won me over in inquisition when he was like "actually i am a recovering addict attempting to overcome my completely repulsive base nature." nobody come at me i know we can argue about how well they pulled off the execution but the secret good plot that exists for him in my head is incredible. it occurs to me at this moment that arthur and cullen are almost the same character and now i want to throw myself into the sun

susie deltarune!! she actually really scared me at first and i disliked having her along a lot because of what a big meanie she was. i even worried about lancer because she was on his team! but it only took until the next scene with them in it to realize she just needed someone to like her and not be scared of her. now susie delatrune is my favorite <3

d'avin jaqobis. i didn't DISLIKE him most of the time but i did initially think he was dumb and unnecessary and uncompelling and detracted from how fun and great dutch and johnny were. and then it turns out due to a military experiment he can be brainwashed. and you know. made to kill a bunch of people. and so with a heavy heart i wound up stanning him enough to remember to put the apostrophe in his name

castiel supernatural. spent the first 3.9 seasons as a deangirl, didn't hate cas so much at first either but again felt he was taking up too much screentime/replacing sam in the narrative as dean's deuteragonist. which ultimately did end up happening lol but whatever. like d'avin, i thought he was a little unnecessary!! his turn at the end of season 4 to dean's side somehow managed to surprise me and by mid season 5 when he defended sam against lucifer i was obsessed with him <3 which was sooooo bad for me on november 5 2020 <3

I don't like the idea of some deleted Malex-related scene being out there that could have connected some things better for the audience in the first few eps, but I distinctly remember Vlamis answering a Twitter question about a deleted scene way back in S1 that was Michael calling Alex on the phone and being annoyed (me not Vlamis) that it was cut because it's exactly the little things like that show us where Malex is with regards to each other that the show would absolutely consider redundant for the queer audience. Showing the times one of them is thinking of the other/wants to reach out is the most important thing, especially with two characters who have such a hard time expressing need. Michael looking at the photo is a great example of showing a lot with a little. And remember the tiny scene with Alex in his car after Michael showed him the console? Michael didn't understand why he left, but the audience was immediately clued in. We haven't seen anything like this for them since. I don't know if it's not even being written anymore or just doesn't make it into the episodes, but it really sucks.

Yeah, they have really dropped the ball this year on using these little moments to clue the audience in on what is happening, especially since a lot of GA members won't be so deep in fandom and know all the Malex hype Tyler and especially Vlamis have been doing, but also, just because we HEAR about it from BTS stuff or cast interviews, or posts, doesn't mean we don't deserve to SEE it on screen during the episodes! I'm sooooo frustrated that we wasted like, half the season on that vision plot that, while I do believe it's coming back, won't be changed or avoided by anything the group does. So there was no need to focus on it at all! Literally we could have just gone in blind and been shocked by a death, OR it could have been a MUCH smaller side plot that started a few episodes before the finale. Dallas? Where has he been?! He should have come in at the beginning of the season! And Heath!! We were all speculating if he was evil or not when we should have SEEN him talking to someone, seen some moments that made it clear he was after Liz's research, stuff that made it LOOK like he might be evil but Liz doesn't know and then BAM! We get the reveal that he's not evil, he's been trying to save his friend. He's been being like Liz, all along and that's why they worked so well together! They are both so dedicated because they are trying to save people they love! It would have made his character so much more interesting early on, AND we could have skipped the majority of the "love triangle" stuff and gotten Liz back to Roswell sooner. We could have gotten so much more build up to the Lockhart Machine too, and depth to Deep Sky and Eduardo, and so many other things, and most especially more build up for Malex to show us that journey from 2x13 and Michael walking away and Alex looking crushed and settling for kissing someone else to 3x08 and them getting together. It's unfortunate that this season had all the bones to be really phenomenal but missed a lot of the beats because the writers can't manage pacing or 10 episode contracts well, write friendships worth a damn, and because we are still stuck with, and sadly this season catering to, a character that was never given a real reason to be around aside from giving Liz info about her dead sister, and keeping Malex apart, the rest of the season and characters got bogged down and twisted OOC while still not giving m*ria anything to do that actually holds weight, affects anything, or wasn't also found out another, far more interesting way. It's eternally a shame that Malex didn't get the build up their 10+ year relationship deserved and we as the audience missed out on those moments. BUT domestic, soft boyfriends are HERE and that at least it something that I am LOVING to see. I know some of the writers from season 3 are not writing for season 4 so fingers crossed we get the growing pains of switching showrunners out of the way and season 4 will have ironed out some of these kinks.

14. tis the damn season

im sorry i like the song but the instrumentation reallt isnt for me. the story is incredible but the lyrics just dont resonate with me.

13. cowboy like me

i dont like the melody on this one. cant explain it, theres nothing specifically wrong with it, but i just dont vibe with it. that being said, i still listen to it regularly, just less than the others.

12. willow

I used to like this song a lottttt but more recently its kinda dropped. i think i finally wore it out after listening to it on loop for like. literal days. its definitely a solid song that i still really enjoy though. the fact that its kinda low is mostly my fault lmaoo.

11. happiness

something about this song makes me cry, and out of all of taylor’s “sad” songs, this one is up there. i love it so much, but I cant listen to it if im not in the right mood, so it sometimes ends up getting skipped if im emotionally fragile or whatever.

10. champagne problems

now were getting to the problem i experience in every single album ranking i have of taylor swift’s, where there are farrr too many good songs. champagne problems is one of my favorite songs, but it took a while to grow on me. even now, its not at the top of my list, maybe because im still young and dont really relate to a lot of the singer’s experiences. music wise it slaps though

9. marjorie

i hated this song the first time i heard it. and the second time. and third and fourth and fifth and sixth. but eventually something just clicked and it gets stuck in my head at just the sound of the name. its such a good song omg idk how me from last december disliked it aaaaaaa

8. tolerate it

this was actually my number one song when evermore first released, and my love for it has not decreased. its so filled with pain and resentment and frustration, but theres so much sweet liberation in it that is so so so magical. the reason its dropped in ranking is not because my opinion on it changed, but rather because i finally stopped listening to it almost exclusively and gave other songs a chance and realized “oh shit this whole album is impeccable”.

7. Gold Rush

its just so catchy. like idk i love it theres something about it that just makes me go “oooaoaoaoaoa”. like idontlikeslowmotiondoublevisioninroseblush. fndmdndnd. it turns me into a gremlin of the best variety. (also this was the fav song of a guy i thought i liked who is now a good friend so theres a lot of nice memories attached).

6. no body, no crime

this is just. omg. i love this song. i cant like say anything about it other than “go listen to it right now”. its good. no one better disagree with me because i will cry.

5. long story short

now were getting to the ones that make me dance around my bedroom. long story short is a bop. plain and simple. good song. i have no analysis other than “wow this song is really good, top 5”.

4. its time to go

this song is so emotional and passionate, and a little existentially terrifying. but the poeticism involved is just sooooo unbelievable and the musicality is great and the lyrics and- i cant stop raving about. why are the bonus tracks always so good?

3. right where you left me

even though this is only at number three, this is my most listened to song of evermore. i have both apple music through my family and spotify, so i dont think rwylm showed up on my wrapped, but if you combined them it would probably make my top 5 most listened to songs. its incredible in its melody, lyrics, instrumentation, imagery, and every other aspect. not to mention how catchy it is, like goddamn!

2. ivy

speaking of goddamn! this is song is underappreciated everywhere, i feel like. (this may or not be true but it feels true, y’know?) The story it tells is a beautiful one, and the figurative language is multilayered and very complex. i love every moment of this song, and i absolutely cannot pick a favorite part.

And for number 1, i present: dorothea!

this took the number 1 slot fairly recently after doing a lot of climbing in the past year. it started our mid-tier for me, but the more i listened to it the more i loved it. now, it stands out as one of the cutest, most passionate songs on the album that i also feel gord underrecognized. congrats to taylor for making something so incredible!

so thats my list, obviously its just my opinion and very heavily influenced by my own experiences and taste. im curious to hear other opinions as well! happy birthday, evermore!

Hanna, episode 3

1. Again with the pretty.  I absolutely love that first shot with them all coming up and onto the street.  It all makes me want to go to Germany in a way that other seasons didn’t do in quite the same way.  I’d forgotten just how much I genuinely love the cinematography of this season.  I sound like a stuck record, but it’s so pretty and it fits Hanna so well, and it makes me happy.

2.  Yikes this conversation with Jonas is sooooo ugh.  It starts well with him apologising.  But then he totally undercuts it with the whole ‘we only spend time by ourselves lately, why don’t you hang with friends?’ thing.  Like buddy, dude, pal.  Jonas, my man.  When you plan a romantic getaway with your girlfriend it’s not a normal everyday hang out situation, she has every right to be pissed and this line of conversation is SO off.  Stop trying to deflect the blame onto her and take some damn responsibility for your shitty behaviour over the last few days.  Making her feel terrible for having no friends is the absolute worst way to ‘make up’ for being such a dick the last week.  He tries to turn it around later, but... you know.  This whole thing really does seem to be trying to palm off his responsibility to her and make it all about her deficits when this entire trouble has been because he hasn’t been caring for what she really needs and is close to entirely focused on himself and his friends.  No sweet talking can cover over that part.  Not forever.  Which is partly why everything shatters later.

3.  This ‘messaging Mia’ thing is again so damn gay.  What we could have had.... I mean I know a lot of people saw this in Noora and Eva, but even so.  Cutting from the thing with Jonas to this nervous ‘how do I chat up the cute girl?’ vibe fits so well with a storyline that involves figuring out how badly the guy you’re seeing is treating you (even if you have this good chemistry with him) and finding a better fit with a lovely, supportive girl.  She even has a special little ‘Mia smile’ which she gets when she’s trying to connect, and the panic when she tries to explain her first message...  It’s all sooooooo gaaaaaay.  It could have been so GOOD.  Le sigh.  Eh.  Maybe I should write this sometime.

4.  Okay so I’ve mostly been focused on the Jonas situation before, so I never really mentioned Kiki.  But she honestly is such a good character.  Vilde always bugged me in some way and I have no idea why.  But Kiki never felt like that to me.  The way she just goes ‘oh the girl from the toilet - we are now mates, I shall kiss her cheeks’ is so endearing.  And Sam works too.  You can kind of see why they’re friends which I never really did get with Chris and Vilde (imo Chris feels like a better match/fit with Sana and I really really miss them connecting in Sana’s season - but that’s something to talk about more when I get to Amira).  Anyway, I always liked these girls together.  And I forgot how enthusiastic Kiki is here.  And, as much as I really like Leonie and Sara in later seasons, once they’ve grown up a bit, they really do work as the mean girls here.  The acting is pretty spot on.  Leonie does a great job of the ‘hurt so I’m lashing out’ thing alongside being kind of getting off on being in control, and Sara is a wonderful support for her.  Their friendship works and makes sense too.  Again, Druck is able to build on the work done by the original and I don’t want to discredit any of the groundwork that was done because it’s always easier to refine than to start fresh.  But the dynamics of the groups Druck has created work so well for me, and when they sort of combine by season 4 it makes sense.  They drift closer and the various relationships have so clearly been crafted with care to be able to do that.  It feels like this was always the intention - so many very small things change and those tiny changes make for something quite different.

5.  I don’t really understand why Kiki, Sam and Mia are treated the way they are around heroesparty jobs, though.  Hanna is obvious and Amira could be because Leonie and Sara are harbouring the same biases as the welcoming committee people.  But Mia, while not understanding, seems cool enough and Kiki and Sam don’t seem to be any different from the other people.  Unless Leonie really is so petty that she really enjoyed playing with Kiki, promising her the best job and giving her the worst one.  Either way, I really do love the visual of them all just sitting by themselves surrounded by all the chairs and kind of starting to gel because of that.  This is a nice spin on the original which actually works in this context and I love that they did this as the way to join our girls into a crew.

6.  As with William, I do not understand how these girls look at Alex and think he’s all that.  I guess I’m not the right demographic because this type of guy has never appealed to me, and the way they both dress also leaves me cold.  But it is genuinely funny in both the original and here the way these girls just about fall all over themselves over this guy.  And the way Kiki sighs his name like it’s a gift in itself?  Comedy gold.

7.  Spanish class.  Gay.  So gay.  Both of them.  The smiling, the hearteyes, the flirting!!!  But I feel again like I’m a broken record with this.  So I’ll leave it at that.  And maybe do some frustrated fic writing at some point.  The urge is getting stronger...

Anyway, overall, I really like this episode as a start to this friendship.  Kiki’s attitude to Amira is so cringey and terrible, but Amira just holds her own in such a nice way.  And Hanna.  My lovely Hanna.  It’s so nice to see her supported and accepted.  She barely knows these girls and yet she seems happier and more comfortable around them (particularly Mia, ahem) than she does around her other friends, who are tbh more like Jonas’s friends and who really aren’t very nice to her.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - the format of this show (thank you, Skam!!) works so well because Hanna as a character works so well.  We’re so tight in on her, and the way she’s played - the charm, the vulnerability, the way she feels so real - makes this season.  There are still some wobbles with some bits but overall it’s working and it’s working well.  Because of this character, because of her actor, because of the cinematography which is still a delight, and because when it changes things it makes those changes thoughtfully and with purpose.  And I like that.  A lot.

hinata - gemini/cancer cusp

okay for starters one thing very interesting abt kagehina is that they're both cusp babies

(for those who dont know being born 'on the cusp' means ur born a day before another zodiac season so u share traits between both signs)

in hinata's case its gemini and cancer which makes sO MUCH SENSE

the hyperactivity and hinata just being In Constant Motion is very gemini

but the his pureness of heart and soul is very cancer

while scorpios are very emotional (like every water sign) and tend to be quite dark , serious and pessimist with thinking, i've read that they usually undergo a large amount of personal transformation

with yamaguchi, his anxieties tended to overwhelm and prevent him from thinking of alternate possibilities and doing his very best

but his fears also pushed him to do much better and eventually develop his skills to become a key player for the team

scorpios are also very protective, honest and the most no-bullshit out of all the water signs

that's why when he told tsukishima off for being uncool, it was very much a build up of his frustrations abt tsukishima not being serious enough despite all his skills

his relationship dynamic with tsukishima is also v interesting because they're basically sister signs 

so they're different but they keep each other grounded

while yamaguchi is protective of tsukki he's also unafraid to call him out which makes him a Great Friend

Sorry for taking so long to answer, I had like a whole ass essay on each season I was starting to write and I thought it was way more than u wanted to hear lol, I honestly could just talk about my thoughts on each season forever. If you or anyone else is interested I'd totally be down to go more into detail of my opinions, like review style in a separate post.

Season 1 is so campy and cheesy and I mean that in a good way!! I remember watching btvs for the first time bc my aunt put it on for me when I was in like 3rd grade and I was shocked I thought it was literally the best thing I'd ever seen, after that I wanted to be just like Buffy.

Season 2 is my favorite, I love like 98% of it, the only parts I hate are j*ss being shitty and writing some offensive/racist/sexist things, and that we unfortunately have to deal with for the duration of the show. I even like the super dumb corny episodes. The finale will literally make me cry, this is one of very few pieces of media that will consistently make me emotional.

Season 3 is sooooo good. Probably my second favorite. Have so many thoughts and I honestly don't know how to make them make sense to other people but this season feels like trying to find a way back to the way things were despite knowing you'll never be able to, it feels like the end of an era. I just adore the way even the costuming choices for buffy reflect who she's trying to be and the image she wants to convey, especially when compared to faiths wardrobe (and the way she mimics faiths look in bad girls and when they fight). Idk dude I just love this season.

Season 4 is... not my favorite. It's good, I do love a lot about it. I love tara and I think spike is hilarious in this season. Idk I watch it a lot and I do like it but I don't think it has the same emotional weight for me that 1-3 do.

Season 5 is good, however I think it's probably the season I rewatch the least. I like a lot about it and I think it has a lot of really great eps I just don't watch it very often. Honestly the Body was very hard to watch for me, I first watched it as a kid and I couldn't even finish the ep and I've never gone back to watch it all the way through. Yeah idk it's a great season but as a whole I don't really rewatch it often even if some of the episodes are in my "rotation" of ones I'll throw on pretty much whenever.

6 was honestly really great. It was dark and it delved into some darker aspects of the characters in ways that were heartbreaking for someone who has grown up with these characters. I think a lot of it was done well and a lot of it was frustrating. I hate that they killed Tara, I hate the whole mess of consent issues with buffy and spikes relationship (not even just in seeing red, there were consent issues from the beginning) and yeah toxic relationships can be shown on TV and often are but the way it's handled in most shows, including buffy is not good imo. Idk this season makes me sad but some of it is in a good way.

7 is another one I don't watch as often. I love a lot of it, so much great dialogue comes to mind when I think of what happened in 7. I also love getting faith back. I felt really moved by Cassie even tho she was only in 1 ep, it was so tragic. I love conversations with dead people!! Peak late seasons buffy horror ep it's fucking scary! I actually really liked the ending, it felt so bittersweet but I think it was really good (hate that they killed Anya tho)

All in all I love this show, I like everyone else, have a lot of issues with how a lot of the content was handled as well as just having issues with j*ss but it's a childhood favorite and the good aspects of it are so so good.

ngl genshin is like, one of the first games of these type, that i played yknow?? like i didn’t know shit at all, so i just did stuff randomly and i was such a noob and didn’t do basic stuff so i remember, i was fighting a world boss (the big boys; stormterror) and it took me like twenty minutes just to beat it up :/ anyways, to avoid wasting time as a noob and to avoid doing 5 dmg per hit again a 100000 hp mob LOL

u should def work on leveling up ur characters, weapons, and artifacts. if u have any 4* weapons, u should def level those up! and 3* are the next go to. this is assuming u don’t have 5* weapons. u can always use the 3* weapons as enhancement materials once u get better weapons; same goes for artifacts. there’s not much options for artifacts when ur new, so u can pretty much level up whatever, but pay attention to the set bonus for a little boost! u can read up on ur character’s kit (talents n all that), and see if they receive any bonuses from scaling on certain stats. example: i believe noelle’s sweeping time does more dmg based on her defense, so i’ll find artifacts that have defense sub stats

also, resin is VERY precious, and it refreshes every eight minutes, so while you can, try to use all ur resin so u can have more resources that can be sued in the long run. i think at the moment, the only thing u can do with resin as a noob is do the mora/xp leylines

also, don’t give into peer pressure when it comes to characters. just get the characters u like and don’t pay attention to the meta :// it ruins things. ALSO, everyone says the weapon banner is a waste for “f2p” and whatever, but at one point, ur gonna have enough characters that u like to use and some upcoming characters just don’t appeal to u.. so if u like a weapon and u want it, don’t be afraid to roll on the banner. i feel like in terms of long term investment, a 5* weapon is much better than being a “character collector.” but that also depends on the person LOL i don’t mind skipping characters so that’s why i have room to wish on weapon banner :’>

i don’t feel like i have much general advice but if u have specific questions, don’t be afraid to hmu!

me watching Free! Eternal Summer

Okay okay okay I know I should be sleeping because we're driving to the beach in the morning but I really wanted to check out the first episode of Free! Season 2 and OMG sooooo the intro theme song showed this new guy who seems to be on Rin's team and, ahem... He's rather very good looking 👀 Best looking boy so far, and that's saying something because you got Haru and Rin and even lowkey Rin's ex-team captain so...yeah. Welp I'm looking forward to this season 😁

So I believe I've watched up to Episode 4 now, and I know I haven't been commenting recently but sometimes I just wanna watch without any journaling interruption :P But okay so far OMG, so Rin's friend Sousuke (the big tall buff good-looking guy) is kind of a jerk, I mean I get that he was friends with Rin first back in elementary and ngl, I'd feel slighted too of my old best friend abandoned me for some new kids. But he doesn't have to be such a...jerk about it.

AND HE DOESN'T HAVE TO BE ALL POSSESSIVE EITHER 👀 👀 👀 👀

Hahahahaha yeaaahhh, so there's legit like this friend-triangle going on where Sousuke is acting all possessive over Rin and then there's Haru who's just happy to have his Rin back in his life and there's Rin who's just the It boy it seems who cares for both friends and is totally oblivious to the battle going on over him 😏😆 And am I loving it?? Absolutely yes.

I just...ugh I just love the dynamic between Rin and Haru, and though high-school Rin isn't my favorite anime character, elementary-school Rin IS and idk why but I love the idea of everyone loving and wanting him and just ugh I love that aloof, expressionless Haru gets all emo over Rin like Rin is his bestest friend without him actually ever being his bestest friend, like Haru secretly admired Rin so much and was inspired by him and came to love him though Haru, being the non-emotional-don't-show-feelings guy and kid he is, never indicated how he felt about Rin and UGHHH the feels in this show are too much.

Elementary school-Rin literally is one of my most favorite characters ever in anime, I love him so much; he's like a shining light to the world.

Anyways, gonna check out the next ep! (aaaaand I'm actually really exhausted and have to run errands tomorrow, so maybe I'll just be going to sleep, idk :P)

Episode 6

OMG...is Makoto starting to question whether he's Haru's best friend anymore in comparison to Rin???!?! I'm like sad but also like eeeeeeek because I literally love RinHaru so much but I also love Makoto and don't want him to be sad :(((( He hinted at it when Nagisa asked him why he competed against Haru, and Mako said that he just wanted to try a serious race against Haru...but then, while watching Rin and Haru standing next to each other chatting after their race, with wistful eyes added, "I’m not sure. Was I jealous of Rin?" ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️

And then Sousuke had a similar look in his eyes when Rin was talking about Haru beating him in their race. Methinks these friends are feeling like Haru and Rin have this special bond/connection with each other, and like they're being left out in a way.

Idk, this is just my initial impression without thinking too deeply into it.

IN SUMMARY...

Okay, so let me talk a little bit about Season 2.

So yeah, I enjoyed it, and I absolutely LOVE my bois so much <333, but I'll admit, it wasn't as emotionally intense as Season 1. Yeah, Haru had a couple of meltdowns with his whole "I don't know what I want to do in the future so stop trying to force me to choose a dream" personal drama, but outside of that there wasn't too much interpersonal drama, not like in Season 1 :( And honestly, that’s what sucked me into this anime, as I was livinggg for all the emo drama between Haru and Rin lol.

But it felt like this season lacked in that department. Of course, it makes sense since Rin has already reconciled with the others, but I guess I expected to see more of elementary-school Rin in high-school Rin, but there were only hints of little Rin in older Rin :/ Still love Rin ofc (my boyyyy) but he wasn't as charismatic, as outgoing and idealistic and happy and shining as his elementary-school self :( And I guess I was expecting that, so maybe in a way I set my own self up.

But back to the RinHaru lack, like don't get me wrong there was a ton of RinHaru-ness (I mean, Australia) but it wasn't as emo and intense as last season's. I wanted Rin and Haru to spend more time together, to see more of that need they had for each other that they had in Season 1. But it just…lacked. And not gonna lie, I'm sad about it :( I want Haru to need Rin and Rin to need Haru, and yeah we already know they do, but I want them to show it. I want HARU to show it.

(I want to indulge in my feels some more lol.)

And now that they're in totally different countries in Season 3, my RinHaru heart is so frustrated, like there better be some texting/skype calls/letter writing/something between these two because y’all can’t just give us all that emo angsty “YOU WILL SWIM FOR ME” “I WANT TO SWIM WITH YOU” “I KNOW WHO I SWIM FOR” “LET ME SHOW YOU A SIGHT YOU’VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE” drama and then separate the two after you spent an entire season telling us how much they need each other like, come on KyoAni! You’re killing me here!

I wonder if this means we won’t be getting much RinHaru in season 3?? Rin is in Australia while Haru is going to college in Tokyo (as well as Makoto, so happy for you babe!). If Rin is the one who lights a fire in Haru when swimming and vice versa...how're they supposed to do that 4k+ miles away from each other? I’m hoping KyoAni’s got something up their sleeve because RinHaru was the very reason I fell for this anime, please don’t deprive me now!

Season 3 also has some old-but-new characters come in: Haru and Makoto’s old middle school swim teammates. And apparently there will be drama there, while some new character comes into Rin's life and there's a story there, too. Not to be such a fangirl, but…I don't want them only interacting with new characters and then having separate stories from each other; call me greedy (because when it comes to RinHaru, I totally am, no shame) but I want RinHaru, not Rin in his own world and Haru in his.

Anyways, I'm going to watch the OVAs and then the middle school movie before starting Season 3. Maybe those "new" characters in Season 3 will be in the middle school movie, and then we'll get some story set up for Season 3. Also, I think it's absolutely hilarifreakinous that at the beginning of all this I literally was like, “Meh, gonna check this anime out, don't expect to fall for these characters like I did with Haikyuu*" and yet here I am with elementary-school Rin as my best boi after Levi and my first ever anime ship ahahahaha funny how the cookie crumbles 🙂

*note: I still love Haikyuu more overall, for I fell hard for the entire friggin volleyball team, not just two three characters (Gou is best girl, Gou >>>> Haikyuu girls), but I definitely feel more emo towards Rin and RinHaru and I really like Gou. I don't think I'd even really consider Free! one my top animes in regards to overall story 'cause it's honestly not all that remarkable, but the characters; I just love and little Rin is definitely one of my favorite anime characters ever, GAH I LOVE HIM SO MUCH 😭   edit 8/20/20 - pfftskdjkkklds wow how naive I was lollllll (I still love Karasuno OFC, but as of now I've been more emotionally involved by and absolutely obsessed with RinHaru than I have with Karasuno, but it doesn't necessarily mean I love one over the other. They're both the loml <3)

what are you working on right now? I'm working on both my Bellarke fic for BLM and a personal fantasy story that I've written and rewritten from the beginning to about 5000000 times because my ideas keep changing. My Bellarke fic is a modern day COVID AU that is also the longest I've ever done so it's been taking a minute to finish! :) 

what’s something you’d like to write one day? A YA either historical fiction or realistic fiction LGBTQ+ romance. I have  a ton of ideas for plots, but I haven’t quite gotten the chance to sit down and try to plot them out. For historical fiction, I’m very interested in the 1900-1950s era, especially the Roaring 20s and WWI/II so I’d most likely set it there! I’m all in for the angsty romance, but I'd definitely want to end it on a happy note (unlike my current fantasy work) and I’m really looking forward to getting the chance to write a character driven story that doesn’t focus so much on heavy plot elements - something I can’t do as much in a fantasy setting!

what is the fanwork you’re most proud of? This one is actually pretty hard considering how my writing style has developed since I started writing fanfics. But if I had to choose, I’d probably say my FirstPrince (Alex/Henry from Red, White, and Royal Blue) fic on Ao3 called To Love Another Is to Cherish Life Itself. The title is a bit dramatic but basically it is an angsty/fluffy one-shot that I wrote really late one night and did minimal edits to before posting. It definitely feels like the most in character and honest fic I’ve ever done, and it broke my heart to write about some of the darker stuff, but in the end I’m pretty proud of it! 

why did you first start writing fic? Well, I’ve been writing fanfics since I was probably 10 or 11 years old (I had PJO phase that spanned close to a decade and I’m still not totally over it 😂) but I started publishing work on Wattpad literally the night I turned 13. That was actually my first Bellarke/the 100 fic! It started out as my predictions for season 5 and then evolved into a fix-it fic for everything I didn’t like about the season. I’ve abandoned it for almost two years, but I’m slowly coming back to it so...slow updates y’all :)

what frustrates you most about fic writing? Everything! Just kidding - I love fic writing! But if I had to choose, probably two main things tho. 1) Creating a plot for a long term fic - I’m sooooo bad at it because I always feel like I’m writing too much in line with the actual show/book/movie and it feels like copying. 2) Making sure that I stay honest to the character I’m writing about. I have a huge tendency to write my fics (ESPECIALLY my one-shots) from the POV of the character who was not the main character in the original thing (like my POV for my RWRB fic is Henry, the love interest of Alex/other main character). This means that the only look inside their head that we’ve gotten has been through the eyes of the main character - which can obviously be biased. I try to stay as honest as I can to my interpretation of the character drawn directly from the text - but sometimes that means that I can’t include scenes that I want to because it feels off/out of character and that’s always disappointing. (also dialogue is just...something I really need to work on)

what are your top five songs right now? Ahhh see it changes on my day/mood but right now it’s probably

what are your inspirations? Ahhh - there are many. First and foremost, The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak. It’s my favorite book for so many reasons, but it teaches me so much about writing and character development. Also Liesel and Rudy melt my heart every time. I also love all the songs listed above for inspiration, and I listen to I Get To Love You by Ruelle (it’s the Malec wedding song for any Shadowhuners fans out there!) whenever I write a really emotionally intense romantic scene. If you’re looking for amazing fic recs, I highly recommend all of HMS-Chill’s works (multi fandoms), clarkesbell, and DracoWillHearAboutThis on Ao3. Though not all of them write Bellarke/the 100, if you are in any of their fic fandoms, I highly recommend checking them out because they are fantastic writers!

what first attracted you to Bellarke? what attracts you now? Honestly? #1 - their development. I love enemies to lovers with my whole heart, but I honestly didn’t see Bellarke as romantic until the 2x05 hug where I was just hit with a wave of OMG THEY BELONG TOGETHER!!! Seriously, though, the fact that they go from enemies, to grudging allies, to co-leaders, to partners, to friends, to best friends, to soulmates just makes my heart go !!!! - Also they have insane chemistry, and that certainly doesn’t hurt. What attracts me to them now is much the same, but also how much they care about each other. They’d go to the ends of the earth to save one another, and it just blows me away how powerful their screen time is, even when their scenes together have become so rare. I also don’t thinkI’m ever getting over 6x10. I swear my heart actually stopped beating when I watched it live the first time. 

BESIDES Bellarke, what character or pairing do you like best on t100? Ha! Umm, I actually really like Murven, both platonically and romantically. Their journey might not be as well developed as Bellarke’s but it is still a powerful one hinging on love and forgiveness. I love how Lindsey/Richard play off of each other on screen - it’s such a joy to watch! I’ve also loved the Octavia/Indra dynamic, but it’s kinda been tabled in recent seasons which is sad :(

why did you decide to start writing for bellarkefic-for-blm? Two reasons - 1) I wanted to do everything I could for BLM and it was so amazing that I could do that, and write works for my favorite show! 2) I was super curious about the prompts people would send in. My work right now is a modern day AU COVID fic where Bellamy and Clarke have to share a room together in an overcrowded hospital until one day Clarke disappears. It’s so different than what I usually write - bc I almost always write canon compliant/in universe fics - so it’s a nice challenge!

what’s your writing process like? Honestly it depends. For long/multi-chapter fics I try to plan out as much of it as I can, characters, plot, important moments, etc - even though I am not very good at planning. But for one-shots I tend to go off of emotion or feelings. Usually when I write one-shots, it’s because a particular line or moment in a book/movie/show really spoke out to me, and spurred this idea in my head. I always start with the line I want to get to at the heart of the fic and then write around it from there. I am definitely much more of a panster than a planner- which is why one-shots work much better for me!

what are some things you’d like to recommend? 1. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Also, All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven, The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee, Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, Red White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuinston, The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller, Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz. 2. Musicals! They can be amazing inspiration - my favorites are Les Mis, Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, Six, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Hadestown, Anastasia, Island Song, Newsies, & Tuck Everlasting! 3. TV Shows besides The 100 - Anne with an E, Shadowhunters (just pretend you haven’t read the books), French SKAM, Love Victor, HSMTMTS, Merlin, Lucifer, I think I’m just listing fandoms at this point 😂

Also, almost any Taylor Swift, Troye Sivan, Conan Gray, Dua Lipa, Emma Blackery or Harry Styles songs are amazing!
