Can't believe I've never asked this, but how would the townspeople react to the farmer having a baby (With the idea that they've already been here a while so they are an established member of the community).
Maybe when they are pregnant and when they've had the baby if it's not too much? (Especially if it happens to be their grandchildren)
I have to admit, I had to translate the question several times because I was hella confused. Spent about 10 minutes trying to figure out if you meant a Farmer who already has a baby (like, 2+ years old) or a Farmer who just had a baby (just being born/adopted), or the fact that Farmer came to town with a child and the child is already a full-fledged member of the community, or.... I feel dumb, I'm sorry... Hope I understood the question correctly, dear anon.
I'm not going mention pregnancy to make the Farmer without a specific gender (everyone can imagine their own Farmer). I hope that's okay with you, or feel free to ask the more specific question again. I will also write in this hedcanon exclusively non-marriage SDV candidates. Hope it's alright too! ❤️

Oh-ho-ho! You can't hide anything from the moms and gossips of the Stardew Valley. Caroline and Jodi have already told each other everything in great detail: how cute the baby is, how happy the parents are. If it so happens that the child is their grandchild, their joy will not be limited - they already dream of the days when they, already as grandmothers, will spoil their grandchildren and coo over them.
After arriving home, Kent couldn't remember the last time he smiled sincerely. The only people who could see his smile were his family members, and that was rare. So when Kent saw the little baby laughing in Farmer's arms, he smiled so broadly that his wife and sons were even startled for a moment. In fact, the sight of the cute little baby reminded him of Sam and Vincent when they were just as little. He was grateful to both Farmer's baby and Farmer themself for helping him remember a quiet life, it was those memories that allowed him to get back on track a little faster with his beloved family and community.
Robin will be calmer than her friends, but will also be endlessly happy for Farmer when they have a baby/adopt a child. As a woman with good experience of motherhood, she will help the Farmer if they have difficulties with caring for the baby or just give some useful advice if they ask for it. And watch out if it's Robin's grandchild - she'll spoil them with wooden toys she makes herself, and she'll be a cool grandma in general.
Don't let it fool you that George is grumpy because small children are very loud, interfere with the TV and are on their way to inadvertently break a tea set in the cupboard of his house. George loves children, and if it's Alex and Farmer's baby, he'll just melt with sentimentality. He still can't believe he's lived long enough to call himself a great-grandfather..... Hear that, suckers? He's now a proud great-grandpa with the best grandchildren and great-grandchildren!
There's a baby in the Farmer's family? And Pierre just happens to have the best baby food in the store, and at a great price, plus ten percent off. All the best for a baby! .....What? Okay, okay, don't give him that look. He may be a businessman (albeit a "slightly" desperate businessman), but he's not completely insensitive. He's actually happy for Farmer and their partner that they have a long-awaited child. He's even happier that Farmer's partner happens to be his daughter Abigail. The "businessman" Pierre is relegated to the background, so the first place will be taken by "grandpa" Pierre, who is just very caring and gentle with kid, and maybe a little overprotective.
And who do we have here? Hehe, such a cute baby, they are very similar to Farmer, the same energetic, running around looking for adventure and problems. Oh, don't look so angry at Lewis, he's just joking. The Farmer has long been a full member of the Pelican Town community, and he will also happily welcome a new little member as well. At such moments, he feels proud of the position of mayor. Just please keep an eye on the baby, because they will definitely be troublemakers, just like the Farmer themself. What? Don't look at him like that, he's absolutely right!
Heh, how happy the old fisherman's eyes are that there are already many young people there in their small town. Usually all the young families with children go to the big cities to look for happiness, but Willy is glad that the Farmer has found their happiness, and family, right here. His heart will melt at all if the Farmer's child becomes interested in fishing, just like their parent once. Considering that he treat Farmer almost like his own child, it's safe to say he now has a grandchild.
No one would have thought that Demetrius, after learning that Farmer had a baby, would have such a small bout of paranoia. Since Farmer is a frequent visitor to their home, knowing that they would be visiting with the baby, Demetrius decided to remove all sharp and glass objects from the lab, as well as some of his wife's sharp tools. And the concerns for the baby's safety will be even greater if it's his grandchild. And he will be equally concerned and paranoid if it is Maru's or Sebastian's child. So don't let Sebby say that his stepfather doesn't love him: he does, but it's hard for him to find common ground with him. But he will show concern for his safety to everyone.
It doesn't matter to Evelyn that the Farmer's baby arrived by midsummer, the caring grandmother has already sewn almost a dozen different sweaters, scarves and mittens for the Farmer's baby as gifts. And it doesn't matter if it is her great-grandson or not, she will treat them with the same love and care, and will always be happy to see them and Farmer in her home. What a saintly granny, nothing to add, bless Yoba for her good heart!
Well, as if Marlon and Gil knew in advance that the Farmer was about to have a baby, as they recently stopped by the Guilds and gave the reason why they wouldn't be able to temporarily handle the adventurer's duties. Farmer had served the Valley well, protecting it from the monsters that lurked in the mines, so the old adventurers quietly let them go and wished them, their partner, and the baby happiness. Maybe when their child grows up and behaves well, Uncle Marlon and Gil will show them their collection of weapons, or tell them different stories about their adventures.
Yay! More people to play with! Jas, Vincent and Leo are excited to have another person in their company for tea parties and outdoor games. And that's all they need to be happy.
Hmm... A new addition to their family? Ah, yes, Rasmodius remembers that moment too, when he saw the Farmer's future. Though, to be honest, he saw other developments that bothered him greatly, for it included his ex-wife, strange statues, and a prismatic shard... But he was glad that Farmer had chosen this fate, though outwardly it would appear that he didn't care at all about the lives of the people of Stardew Valley. If child will show an interest in magic, feel free to visit his tower anytime. And no, he won't be giving their child that moss and fly agaric potion, so please stop looking at him so suspiciously.
Oh, how wonderful that Marnie's friend had a little happiness, and the Farmer sometimes brings this little happiness everytime they goes to visit her at the Ranch. Such a wonderful baby, she is sure that they and Jas will become wonderful friends in the future. Of course, she loves her niece and nephew (who sometimes behaves like a child too), but sometimes she would like to know what it's like to be a mother. Well, at least know what it's like to be loved. What? No no don't think anything like that, Jas and Shane love Marnie mutually, she just means SOMEONE, and she hopes that SOMEONE finally gets up the courage and confesses her feelings openly. Isn't that right, Mr. SOMEONE?

I wouldn't call Clint an incel or stalker, personally, but I understand why people get that vibe. Clint in particular really suffers from the static feel of SDV characters that I also got after getting 5+ years into one file. Like I chose to marry Sam and got a little tired of him repeatedly saying he never learned how to cook bc his mom was always responsible for that...I know that you've mentioned this feeling WRT the spouses but it can also affect non-marriage candidates like Clint. I'm sure part of the dislike for him is his appearance, but he's so miserable all of the time and the lines about his life outside of Emily never really change. His heart events are all about her too, not allowing him any opportunities for growth. I really don't mind him when he's being normal, mostly when you speak with him for his shop. But the rest of it does drag my opinion of him down a bit. I think if he was more like platonic Shane, that would be a lot better for him. I've heard that Shane gets worse again as a spouse, but his overall transformation even outside of heart events gave me the opposite effect that Clint did.
it’s interesting that you bring up how static most characters in the game are, because it’s such a blessing and a curse. the game is meant to be relatively chill, one where you can take it at your own pace, and if characters starting changing in significant ways before people have gotten to know them, they might feel left behind. i’ve seen some possible examples being sebastian moving to zuzu city after a certain time, or george and evelyn passing away, or jas and vincent growing up to be teenagers, which would all definitely be interesting and make the world feel a bit less frozen in time, but could also not mesh well with the chill vibes the game is trying to maintain.
regarding clint, i do think it would help if he got some actual development. having him still be hung up over emily over the course of potentially years is a bit weird, and not a good look for him. but you could say that about nearly every character in the game, and i don’t think it warrants the negativity surrounding him in the fanbase.
#stardew valley#sdv clint#though as somebody who knows this game like the back of his hand#if they added in super dynamic changes to the world i would eat that shit up#let the shop owners retire and have their kids take over#let characters go out and fulfill their dreams#let people actually age a bit#i know why this isn’t a thing in game and it’s probably not a part of concernedape’s vision#but god it would still be cool as hell

Oooh i see, okok that makes sense. Thats cool!! I also play MC & SDV! Do you play java or bedrock? If both do you perfer one over the other? Also! Do you have a fav romanceable NPC + Who's your fav Non romanceable NPC?
Its been a bit since I've played sims and ngl when I did play I just had fun building stuff haha. What abt it do you enjoy most?
D&D is cool!! I've only been in 2 games but its tons of fun!! Whats the last character you played? Alsoalso what the most recent board game you've played? Sidenote sorta but what got you into the yandere community (subculture?)?
I play on both for Minecraft and Stardew for Minecraft I currently prefer bedrock as I have a realm with my friends (even if they haven’t really gotten on :( ) that’s the world I was talking about before. I mainly use Java for mods. And for Stardew I mainly play on my computer when out of the house as I play on my laptop then on my Xbox at home, but I took a break from playing until the update comes to console too.
I love Haley as my marriage candidate npc very stereotypical of me I know. And I also love Caroline she deserves so much better than Pierre. Who are your favorites?
For the Sims I really enjoy everything I like making sims and really detailed houses, and I like putting them through horribly traumatizing situations because it’s so much fun! Also absolutely fair I love building what’s your favorite style to build in for the Sims? I like doing cozy cluttered houses as that’s my ideal living place.
My last character was a Druid moth girl from a cult I wrote a like 10 page google doc on her and the campaign ended after one session and I was so upset. It ended because the dm had a falling out with one of the players because she was a shitty person, so fair enough but still sad. I always play druids because I love plants and animals and magic so it’s just perfect, what about you what class do you like?
The last board game I played was monopoly I love monopoly it’s so stupid but to me that game is so much fun, I love it playing monopoly any version of it is amazing.
What got me into the yandere community was just getting recommended yandere posts on here and just kind of recognizing my own thoughts in there and then I started following a lot of Yandere blogs and now I’m posting about it.

basic identity headcanons for the SDV marriage candidates (age/pronouns/sexuality)
Elliot looks like he’s in his forties 😭 he also strictly uses he/him pronouns and will be confused if you use anything else for him. He’s probably straight but he would date the player regardless of gender. He’s a hopeless romantic but also he’s greyromantic. He enjoys reading about romance more than he enjoys having it.
Alex is in his early twenties. He uses he/him pronouns and he’s gay. We’re ignoring the fact that you can romance him as the female player. My brother says his dialogue/character arc is better if you befriend him as a male player and that kinda tells me he’s gay.
Sam is around the same age as Alex. His pronouns are he/him and he’s pansexual. I feel like he’s mostly uninterested in romance though. He definitely COULD have a relationship, but it’s not his priority.
Sebastian is in the same age-range as Sam and Alex. He’s transmasc and uses he/him pronouns. He probably lets his close friends uses they/them or neos on him though. He’s also aroace but is lowkey in a QPR with Sam :3 I’m basing this on the fact that he seems really uninterested in the player and I see him hanging out with Sam all the time.
Harvey is in his forties for sure. He uses he/him pronouns and he’s bisexual but doesn’t know it yet. I feel bad for him because he’s a man with a career and a mortgage (probably) and he’s STILL unmarried 😭 he’s probably lowkey lonely
Shane is prob in his early thirties. He’s non-binary and is okay with he/him and they/them pronouns. He’s also bisexual.
Abigail is nineteen. She’s the youngest bachelorette. She’s also transfem non-binary and uses she/her pronouns. To me, she’s bisexual with no preference.
Penny is in her early or mid twenties. She’s cishet 😭 but Maru has a very unfortunate crush on her.
Maru is like, twenty-three. She/they pronouns and lesbian. She partakes in the classic lesbian pastime of having a crush on your straight bestie
Emily is thirty. She uses any pronouns and is non-binary. She’s also pansexual :3
Haley is in her mid-twenties. She’s cisgender and uses she/her. She’ll also get mildly insulted if you use any other pronouns on her. She’s bisexual but lowkey hates everyone.
Leah is in her mid-twenties. She uses she/her pronouns but is okay with any really. She’s also a lesbian methinks

Saw this in the notes and figured I'd step in!
So, for non-SDV players, in most farming sims you can get married to certain characters and have children with them, however this is typically a permanent choice that can't be undone, so if you want to marry someone else or not have kids you would have to start over with a fresh save.
But SDV is different. The game has a witch's hut you can eventually unlock that lets you use...black magic, basically, to soft-reset marriage/children choices without starting over. There's a divorce option so you can ditch your spouse, but that's the only normal one. It also adds an option to turn your children into doves to get rid of them, hence OP saying they "birded" their kids. You're not...technically killing them...but only barely.
(It also adds an option to mind-wipe your previous spouse so they don't remember being married to you and thus don't hate you, and you can even remarry them then if you want, but I don't think that was needed for this, just figured it was sinister enough to warrant a mention.)
All that to say, the reddit OP married a character, progressed to the point that they had a child with them, and then used black magic to "kill" the child and divorce their spouse before moving on to the next marriage candidate and doing the same, over and over until they had gone through all twelve marriage candidates, resulting in a collection of twelve "dead" children.
Which, I must agree, is some uniquely unhinged behavior indeed.

2,3,4,5 for the sdv ask meme? 🌻
ooo good questions!!
2. Which marriage candidate attracted you first?
oh that would be my darling leah, she was the first person i ever romanced on my very original account and i still come back to her - but elliott and sebastian are a close second
3. Which non marriage candidate villager is your favorite? Why?
hmmm i dunno!! i guess maybe caroline? i love her whole vibe (especially in this moodboard), but also i love robin and her actual service to the town jkldfj;sa
4. Would you like to live in Pelican Town? Why/why not?
there are definitely some aspects of pelican town that i enjoy - the layout is very walkable, horse friendly, car hostile, the town festivals and community feel is real, and i love the concept of magic being just under the surface of everything - but the mayor is not one of them. the wizard of trans your gender, however, i do thoroughly enjoy
5. Out of every NPC in Stardew Valley, who would make the best mayor?
emily actually genuinely cares about the other people in pelican town, and strives to meet people where they’re at!
+ send me a number!

I always thought of Linus as parental figure for my foraging-freak farmer. He shares deep forest's secrets with her, he taught her the art of beekeeping, so they are naturally bonding over apprecitating nature. He was farmer's grandpa's friend, so even if he's a loner, he has a soft spot for his patchwork granddaughter. I always feel like Linus is a bit underrated by SDV fandom, so could we give him some love? Do you have any headcanons about his past and present in the Valley? (。◕‿‿◕。)
Aaww, I love that! It’s honestly one of my favorite things ever to see how people integrate their OCs into Pelican Town and the relationships they forge with the villagers in town apart from marriage candidates. It’s always good to see some Linus love. And I LOVE the idea that the farmer’s grandpa was friends with him, I’m sure it makes their bond that much more special. I’ve always hc’d that the farmer’s grandpa was friends with Lewis and George, I’ll be honest it never once occurred to me that he very well could have been great friends with Linus and that just warms my heart.
I do think you’re right, Linus is incredibly underrated. The first time I ever played, he was actually my favorite villager of the non-marriage candidates and the one I befriended the quickest. I’d always stop by to see him on my way to the mines with whatever goodies I’d foraged and we gained hearts very quickly as a result. I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for Linus; my very first SDV friend.
This hc is not mine, though I’m not sure whose it is. It’s one I heard a long time ago and fell in love with. Someone came up with the idea that Linus actually used to work as a higher-up at Joja Co and lived quite a well-off life in the city as a Joja executive. I think I’ve even heard variations where he was the CEO. Basically, once he realizes how corrupt Joja has become and how far gone the company is, he can’t live with the guilt of working for them any longer. He quits his job, leaves the city, and never looks back. Over the years he lives a more humble life free from the materialistic lifestyle of the city and over time, lives a life that is more and more modest until he ends up in the valley. That’s always been a favorite hc of mine. It’s somewhat supported, there are actually unused sprites in the game of Linus clean-shaven with jet black hair wearing a suit. Maybe this hc isn’t so far off from what ConcernedApe had in mind for his past.
(also, to you and to others who’ve sent in asks, I’m SO SORRY for how long it’s taking me to get to these! Ack!)

Welcome to Tumblr! Curious to know who your favorite Stardew character(s) is, and why? I'm not going to automatically assume it is Elliott and/or Sebastian, haha
- a fan of your SDV fic
Thank you for the warm welcome! Oh, this is a tough one, because there are so many great characters in Stardew Valley. I’m going to break them apart into marriage candidates versus non-marriage candidates, because I feel like those are two entirely separate categories. Also, just because someone isn’t on this list doesn’t mean I don’t like that character, it just means he or she isn’t one of my very favorites. (Also, these aren’t in any particular ranked order - I like all the ones I’m listing about equally)
Marriage candidates:
Sebastian. Sebastian was the very first character I married in Stardew on my first save file nearly five years ago. In many ways, he’s the character who’s closest to my RL husband, who also has depression and anxiety but who is a very loving person underneath the gruff exterior. I appreciate Sebastian’s slow evolution from being walled off away from everyone and everything (literally at the start of the game - it’s damn frustrating trying to get him up to two hearts so you can go in his room) to slowly opening up to you more and talking about his desires and wants and fears. After marriage, he has beautiful dialogue where he admits his mental health isn’t always the best, but not to doubt that he always loves you. So great.
Elliott. Yes, I’m going with the obvious two off the bat. I actually didn’t pay much attention to Elliott the first few games I played through. I got him through his heart events because I was being a completionist and wanted to see everyone’s heart events, but he was so out of the way on the beach most of the time that I didn’t pay him much heed. Then in my third game, I decided to try something new and started pursuing Elliott early on, and oh, man. He’s so great. He is hands down the best post-marriage spouse with how affectionate and loving and kind he is all the time (and he has some great moments of unexpected humor, like his line about the million iridium bars). I do understand where his loquaciousness can be a bit off-putting to some, but I find him to be an absolute joy, and one of the kindest characters in the game. (Also, the first Winter Star after we got married, Elliott was my secret gift-giver and he gave me a glow ring, which made my heart completely fall out of my chest and go splat on the ground.)
Emily. Come on, who doesn’t love Emily? She’s completely bonkers, but she has such a good heart. One of my favorite cutscenes of every character in Stardew is when Emily meets her friend the parrot and talks to him about how they’re both different and the ones around them don’t understand. Like Sebastian and Elliott, Emily is a bit of an outsider, even though she’s around people all the time. But she has such joy for life and for experiencing everything that I find her to be one of the most satisfying marriage candidates.
Maru. Maru’s awesome. She’s a great balance of being serious about her experiments and her robotics and yet such a dreamer about the future and what she might do. I feel like she gets overlooked way too much, even though she’s probably got the best head on her shoulders of any of the marriage candidates. In a town full of people who don’t know what they want, Maru’s got a clear, strong direction she wants to head in. That alone puts her in a category by herself, but she’s also such a good, kind-hearted person as we can see in the MARILDA scene. She’s got the best combination of her dad’s scientific mind and her mom’s work ethic and compassion.
Non-marriage candidates:
Robin. ConcernedApe knew what he was doing making Robin the first character the farmer meets in game. Not only does she always make efforts to reach out to the player and ensure he or she is part of the community (extending invitations to come visit, making sure everything’s going well on the farm), but she’s a loving, caring mom and wife, she looks out for the rest of the community, and she’s got a snarky side I really appreciate.
Gus. I adore Gus. I didn’t know quite what to make of him at first because he seemed to be almost a Gunther- or Marlon-level NPC who virtually never went out from his business, but then Linus’s first heart event happened and I realized how much Gus cares about other people and wants to take care of them. He’s always cooking massive amounts of food for everyone at all the festivals, ensures everyone has enough to eat, and is incredibly gentle and kind.
Linus. Speaking of Linus, who was my first-ever five-star friend, he is a total treasure. Like some of my other favorites, he’s definitely a little different, but there are a lot of layers to Linus. He’s clearly a very intelligent guy, well-read, empathetic, resourceful, and kind. He is wary of the farmer, but it’s explained that he has to be because of how he’s been treated in the past, and when he does open up to you, it’s clear how meaningful your friendship is to him.
Marnie. The first time I played Stardew, I was incredibly annoyed by Marnie because I could never get her schedule straight and would always swing by the ranch only to realize she wasn’t there. But the more I got to know her and found out how much she cares about animals and other people, I really grew a new appreciation for her. As with Robin and Gus and Linus, Marnie is incredibly compassionate and doesn’t ask for much for herself. And also, I love her happy dance. The fact that we see it both when the community center re-opens and at the player’s wedding shows that she’s genuinely happy when good things happen to other people.
Thanks for the question and for reading “Fire Walk with Me”! I’m in the process of working on the last couple scenes in the next chapter now and it should be up tomorrow for New Year’s Day.

31 44 45!
31. What’s the nicest thing someone has ever said about your writing?
I've received so many wonderful comments in the time I've been in this community (y'all are so nice!) but there's a few that stick out in my mind. I've received meaningful feedback, heartfelt feedback, emotional feedback... but as far as NICEST goes, I can't say that it's anything specific. It's the readers that comment their excitement and encouragement chapter after chapter that just warm my heart. It's those small check-ins that kept me going when I wanted to quit and the fact that there were readers out there continually giving me encouragement and praise along the way to help me finish Runaway was the nicest thing I can imagine. Writers are fragile creatures, I hate to admit. All it takes is just a quick “I love this chapter!” every so often to turn us into a giant puddle of over-emotional goo. That’s the nicest feeling in the world, to know that people still care about the heart and soul that you pour onto the page.
44. What ship do you feel needs more attention?
Honestly, Robin and Demetrius! Yes, they're a canon couple, but dang they just don't get enough love. A lot of the non-marriage candidates kinda fade into the background, sadly, it seems that the main 12 marriage candidates get most of the focus and attention. I know Demetrius is very polarizing, there's a lot of people that dislike him as a character, but dang... I love Demetrius. I think his relationship with Robin is just fascinating and there are SO many story-telling opportunities there. I've actually debated digging deeper into their relationship and writing a fic about them, I just love the both of them so much.
45. What is your all time favourite fanfic?
I will shout from the rooftops how much I love the Stories series by @sdv-hiddenfarm . It's just such a masterpiece, that's the best word I can use to describe it. Over 2 dozen characters to juggle is no easy task and it's easy to let a few fall flat or end up forgettable. Nope, not in this series. Each character is fully fleshed out and given life and personality and it's done just flawlessly. Canon character traits are combined with a personal twist that make even characters I usually dislike enjoyable and fascinating. Now I don't care if I'm biased, my favorite is Clinic Stories because it's very Harvey-heavy, but all of the Stories are just a delight. I will never stop loving this series.

What do we think? Who’s your all-time-favorite SDV Villager?
Personally I have to give it up for Robin, I LOVE her! To me, I always see her as feisty and fun despite being a bit older. For sure she’s one of those that has a sign that reads “Growing old is required, Growing up is optional” hanging in her workshop. I love picturing her being a huge ABBA fan and she regularly brings a portable stereo with her to jobs around town and blasts her music while she works. And yes, she shamelessly sings along. 😂Folks around Pelican Town always know when Robin’s working on a project in town when they can hear “Dancing Queen” echoing through town square. I could go on forever, I swear, I love Robin so much.
But anyway, curious who some other non-marriage candidate favorites are!
Who is your favourite SDV villager? This means anyone who is not a Bachelor/ette. I rarely ever see anyone talk about anyone other than the main 12, so here's a chance to see what people think about the others.
