Shugo Chara Party Recap #NahIFinishedLikeWeeksAgoAndIJustRemembered
Update: Shugo Chara Party is just as unwatchable as I remember it, do not recommend. At one point, I found the variety segments and Pucchi Puchi more watchable than the actual anime. Of the anime episodes, I can say the only ones worth watching in any capacity are 3, 7, 12, and 19. That’s because 3 and 19 focus on Utau, 7 has Rimahiko which is still my bias, and 12 has more antics with Ami. That’s it. Don’t bother with the rest of the season.
And look, this is coming from someone who actually enjoys filler (to an extent). I didn’t mind most of the filler episodes from SC or SCD. But Doki Doki just doesn’t offer enough material in a short running time. Read the manga or fanfiction instead.

Shugo Chara Recap #6
The Dia arc felt much shorter than I remember it being. Like now there's only six episodes left before I hit season two.

Spring is the perfect time to sit down and rewatch all 102 episodes of Shugo Chara Also, why does it sound like Colette gives that weird egg monologue in English?

Shugo Chara Recap #5
Started episode 27 and I nearly cried watching Amu break down. More proof this show seriously became more relatable to me as an adult.

Shugo Chara Doki Recap 5
I forgot that ramen kid in episode 75 is voiced by freakin Goku and the episode proves that Utau could be a rival character in both shonen and shojo

Shugo Chara Doki Recap: A Prologue
ugGGGGggGgggggHHHHhhHHHHhhhHH
So... on the one hand, SCD brings back Nagihiko, gives us the fun relationship of Rimahiko and has some legitimately fun episodes. Plus Omakase Guardian! and My Boy are respectively best OP and Ending Theme.
BUT THEN THERE’S LULU. (more on my hatred of her later).
ALSO THE FACT THAT THE FIRST TWO EPISODES OF THE SEASON ARE RECAP. WE LITERALLY JUST HAD A RECAP EPISODE A DOZEN SOMETHING EPISODES AGO AND LITERALLY NOTHING OF IMPORTANCE HAPPENED.
Oh, and I hate Take It Easy. It’s the only Buono! song I can’t listen to without raging. But more on that later.
Needless to say, it’s going to be a mixed and varied ride. And we’re not even at the worst part of the show. But more on that way, way later.

Shugo Chara Doki Recap 2
This look Ikuto has when Lulu shows up like “Hell nah, leave me out of this narrative, I already have enough BS to deal with” is my acethetic.

Shugo Chara Doki Recap 1
On another note, I completely forgot about the “Shugo Shugo!” segment that opens up the episode. Almost ten years later and I still don’t understand who wanted this.
#scarfninja watches shugo chara doki#shugo chara doki#like i don't hate it#but i don't really get why we need it either

While I can’t stand Lulu, her parents are actually pretty cool.

Shugo Chara Recap #7
You know, I actually don’t mind these filler episodes years later. It’s annoying at the time of airing, because you want to see the next bit of plot adapted into the show, but some of these fillers let us just have fun. Rima the Comedy Goddess, for example, was the exact kind of whimsical fun that you need following the heart-wrenching, self-actualizing, realizing “omg-i-was-just-like-amu-in-sophomore-year-of-college”*, Dia arc.
Of course, not all filler episodes are made the same, but I’ll talk about that when I eventually recap Doki and Party.
*yes, I found Amu’s breakdown and growth in this arc to be relatable during my sophomore slump in college it’s not my fault i’m an overemotional dork

Shugo Chara Recap #4
1. I was thinking this episode was giving me Princess Tutu flashbacks (despite having SC first but whatever) but then I remembered that Miki has the same seiyuu as Ahiru! (Bonus: Utau has the same seiyuu has Rue!) 2. I can actually relate to Mai's depression over injuring herself during her favorite athletic and artistic activity. It happened to me quite a few times a few years ago, so now I'm a lot more careful but I remember what it was like being restless and impatient to finally get healed back up. Geez, the older I get the more I relate with this show.

Shugo Chara Recap Part 3
On episode 6, which is the ballet episode, and I can't help but think the prima has a secret crush on Amu because she's super insistent to show her on how she dances, compared to Yaya, whom Amu was so impressed by.

Shugo Chara Recap #2
Damn I didn’t realize how creepy Nikaidou was back when I first watched this (to be fair, I mostly skipped this arc). Like, what teacher goes to their student’s house to watch them fall into depression? Is this Yamada kid even one of his students!?
