can you believe these marbs my dearie friend found in a dumpster?? I sortened and countened them & then we (the fellas) each took 1/3 of the stash. Now we can play marbz! My favorite way of playing marbz is examining them one by one. As you would ponder any other orb

The Curious Case of the Cracked Clock
You know, what sticks out to me when it comes to questions of like "Hey, when did The Girl Who Fell From The Sky happen?", and "How long ago were Alyx and Lewis in the Ever After?", is how their answers have next to nothing to do with each other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Ever After is on a timeloop, because there's a tree with a clock on it anyone could just pluck the fruit from to rewind time, and we have no idea how many times this has happened, how long it should've gone before Jaune cracked the clock, the timescale before this latest loop is unknowable.
And how long it's been in the Ever After since Alyx's story…
Tumblr media
What interests me is that Jaune looks the exact same age in the flashback from when Alyx and Lewis arrive as he does now, right down to the white streaks in his hair-
Tumblr media
-Which are missing from his ever so slightly less than guaranteed to be completely factual 2D flashback on what happened in the fairy tale.
There's no other suggestion of time passing in the Ever After, the Red King is the Red Prince because of Ascension rather than anything related to age, the Herbalist getting rundown from overwork could have been the case by the time Alyx and Lewis showed up, nothing tells you time has had a tangible effect on anyone but Jaune.
Except.
Tumblr media
Weiss: He's adorable!
Blake: And a lot older than I remember from the book...
Jinxy being older than the fairy tale depicts, which would be weird to assume is another lie of the story, since what would anyone gain from it being one?
So, Jaune got as old as he is before Alyx and Lewis arrived, and Jinxy got as old as he is after Alyx and Lewis arrived, and they're the only characters who signify time has happened at all in the Ever After. What's the connection?
…Hey, isn't it a funny coincidence that the clock fruit Jaune broke-
Tumblr media
-is in the same jungle Jinxy scavenges for shit to sell off?
Tumblr media
Almost as funny a coincidence as the Curious Cat's little quips towards Jaune, like:
Tumblr media
"Jauuuune! Oho my, it has been an indeterminate amount of time hasn't it?”
Tumblr media
"A lot of good that's gotten you after, oh, how many years?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"I think ol' Jaune's maybe a few sandberries short of a picnic these days, wouldn't you say?"
What's especially provocative about the last bit is how the rest of the maze's reflections never actually show the person in their view, only still images of their regrets and loses (Jaune's were Penny and his old self, Weiss's was Atlas).
But only Jaune's transforms, to reveal the person he was before the Rusted Knight, as his perception of the world is questioned.
The only thing remotely similar to this...
Tumblr media
...Is Ruby becoming Summer without noticing, which certainly rhymes, in the sense of her and Jaune trying to paper over their identity issues by trapping themselves in roles they don't know how not to fail, like they always have.
So, what does this all amount to?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think Jaune spent a couple of years to a matter of months in the Ever After, and aged on this beach almost as fast as the scene transition took because he literally broke time, and Jaune has not a fucking clue because he sat on a beach alone, depressed, waiting for something that would take forever to happen because of his mistakes, and straight up got rusted and wrinkled while he wasn't paying attention.
Jinxy got a hold of the busted clock fruit (because grabbing one fresh off the tree would've restarted the timeline all over again) and it made them a senior citizen some point afterwards, and the Cat has spent the majority of their relationship putting up with Jaune's time blindness, either unable to, or unwilling to bother with correcting his delusions (exposition is terribly boring after all).
TL;DR: Sorry gamers, Jaune is embroiled in agefaking discourse, Weiss will have to find another Dilf to be cringe thrist over.

Fun fact about the Blender I just realized. We use the same blender to make fertilizer as we do our medicine.
Just to clarify- we put literal feces into the machine alongside plant fiber to make fertilizer, and then there's no 'clean' option before we start making our medicine and Sandberry Jams out of the same machine immediately afterwards.
We also use it to make paint.
Our paints smell of yakmel shit, and our medicine is putting people at risk since it's made of poop.
I mean... I guess builders really do keep an economy functioning? Maybe? Not sure this is the best way to go about that, though...

Bearberry
Arctostaphylos uva-ursi
Common Names: Arberry, bear’s grape, kinnikinnick, mealberry, mountain box, mountain cranberry, red bearberry, sagackhomi, sandberry, upland cranberry, uva ursi.
Medicinal Part: Leaves.
Description: Bearberry is a small, evergreen shrub found in the northern U.S. and in Europe, especially in dry, sandy or gravelly soils. A single long, fibrous main root sends out several prostrate or buried stems from which grow erect, branching stems 4 to 6 inches high. The bark is dark brown or somewhat reddish. The leaves are entire, oval or obovate, rounded at the apex, often puberulent, ½ to 1 inch long, and slightly rolled down at the edges. The white or pink flowers grow in sparse terminal clusters. The fruit is a bright red or pink berry containing several one-seeded nutlets.
Properties and Uses: Astringent, diuretic, tonic. Bearberry helps to reduce accumulations of uric acid and to relieve the pain of bladder stones and gravel. Use it to alleviate chronic cystitis; it usually will change the color of urine but this need not cause alarm. The tea or tincture can also be used for bronchitis, nephritis, and kidney stones. It may also help where bedwetting is a problem. CAUTION: Excessive use of bearberry can lead to stomach distress, and prolonged use can produce chronic poisoning.
Preparation and Dosage: Fall is the best time to pick the leaves.
Infusion: Soak the leaves in alcohol or brandy, then add 1 tsp. soaked leaves to 1 cup boiling water. Drink 2 to 3 cups a day, cold. You can also let the leaves soak in brandy for a whole week before making the infusion with water and add a teaspoon of the brandy to each cup of infusion.
Tincture: Take 10 to 20 drops in water, 3 to 4 times a day.

[ID: A tweet from Critical Role @.CriticalRole which reads: “Enjoy a sweeter Taste of Marquet with @.quincystavern's delectable Sandberry Pies! 🥧✨” There’s a video attached of Quincy of Quincy’s Tavern preparing peach-mango hand pies he calls sandberry pies, with lemon sugar icing. The video originated on Quincy’s tiktok, @.quincylk. Quincy is a Korean man in his late 20s with very long black hair tied back, and is fully kitted out in detailed adventurer’s cosplay on an elaborate set dressed to look like a fantasy tavern called The Lucky Gryphon. His demeanor is kind and comforting, like the living embodiment of a warm, bolstering hug. /end ID]

I'm such a sap, but it's so cute that Fang is talking to my builder more. Saying actual sentences!
I feel bad for traumatizing the poor guy (more than he already has been), but being able to gift him and hearing him say stuff (even if he attributes some of it to X, which X calls him on) is nice.
I will (not so) patiently wait to be able to romance the dude. Because he will be mine.
I also thought it was neat that when I tracked him down (having friends show on the map is so useful), talked, gifted, then watched as he gathered sandberries (and the spawn properly vanished).
