Vessel Artifacts 2018-2019. C-Prints on Matt Archival Paper 24” x 36” Edition of 3
Some artifacts from the Vessel have been recovered from the time of the phenomenon. While we do not know the exact  functionality of these artifacts, research indicates that they are types of Prayer Receptors, Intention Processing Units and Prayer Capsules.

These two pictures really stood out to me, so I decided to post some more information about them here:
Saks Afridi, Sighting #3, 2019
The Pakistani-born artist calls his work “sci-fi Sufism,” as he imagines a future inspired by Islamic mythology, Sufi poetry and Afrofuturism, among other references. Among the works he shows here, he’s showing his Prayer Catcher, which imagines a time where collective goals are more important than personal wishes, and SpaceMosque, which looks towards a utopian world that is changed by the power of prayer. A sense of selflessness is a thread throughout Afridi’s work, much of it which calls to mind sleek design work, charged with a psychic energy. “If we don’t start thinking collectively, our children will have no future to inherit,” said Abichandani. “They could very well be the last generation. Humanity has never faced such an existential crisis together, we need to come together for solutions for our own benefit, or else all is lost.”

"In my work, the UFO represents the outsider. The patterns surrounding it represents the insider. I find the combination of Eastern traditional craftsmanship and Western contemporary sensibilities, has led me to this work and a category I refer to as Sub- Continental Futurism." VERGE, a group show at The Border Project Space on Bogart street, closes this week on April 7. On view this past month, five immigrant artists comment on borders, territories, immigration, people, and edges using various mediums. The wall Trump is currently imposing on our country calls for exclusivity and radical nationalism. However, “Verge inverts the concept of a wall as a barrier, transforming it into a platform for the convergence of human experience which was created with 1300 clay bricks,” as stated in the press release.
The five artists featured in VERGE are Anna Costa e Silva, Iván Sikic, Fanny Allié, Qinza Najm, and Saks Afridi. All of the artists are immigrants to America and were asked to be a part of the show by Martinez. “The idea behind this exhibition is to invert the concept of a wall as a barrier by transforming it into a platform to display five immigrant artists’ work,” Martinez said. “To me, border control at this moment is a heated conversation about the wall which is why I curated this exhibition, as a rebuttal to that conversation. I know that borders have to be controlled but not in an abusive way.”
