Sailor Yurameku Profit Jr. +10 set - Kitsune Biyori
I wasn't expecting to find this locally in a tea & stationery shop at all 😳 The pen comes with a fude nib and a 10mL bottle of ink, the bottle looks very baby next to a regular 20mL Sailor bottle LOL

Morning pages in the journal. ✒️
And yes, I caved to this adorable Sailor Pro Gear Slim Line & Friends Brown pen. It’s a teddy bear fountain pen and it’s very kawaii. 🥹 I do wish it was a little more transluscent, but I’m also happy to have another brown pen in my collection!

Happy Fountain Pen Day!
My souvenir goal for Japan was to buy myself a really nice fancy pen and I succeeded! This is a Sailor Profit 1911 21k with a zoom nib, it's kind of like a fude and the nib is really neat. And if you want to learn about fountain pens, maybe check out the zine I did with my good pal {tu:thesandlorde] https://topazcomics.com/shop/product/fountainpenpdf/ [Image ID: Photo of a Sailor Profit 1911, 21k fountain pen with it's cap on and sitting on top of a test page. Another photo showing the pen uncapped and the top of the zoom nib. A third photo, a close-up of the side of the zoom nib showing off it's shape. /end ID]

Today's pen is the Parker 51:
Also known as the most popular fountain pen ever made. The original production run lasted from 1941 to 1972 and sold at least 20 million pens.
As simple as it looks, it has some features that were groundbreaking at the time. The cap is a slip cap, when everybody else was using screw threads. The nib is tube shaped, making it especially rugged. Said nib is protected by a plastic hood so that only the point sticks out, to minimize drying when uncapped.
And the plastic is acrylic, which has stood the test of time. No cracking, no shrinking, no weird discoloration. Look at this sleek little bullet of a pen!
It's a nice size, lightweight and well balanced. And it writes beautifully.
Also, fun fact, this was Queen Elizabeth II's favorite pen. She had a red one.
I think in any industry there's a model that just works. Like, all the engineering comes together in such a way that you get exactly what you were aiming for. There are prettier fountain pens than the 51, and many more expensive. But the 51 is pure Fountain Pen in the best way.
#fountain pen#vintage pen#fountain pens#parker pen#parker 51#sailor ink#it's also virtually indestructible#the only self-filler that can spend six decades in a drawer and only need a good cleaning to write again

Got a Sailor Shikiori with a 14K medium nib.
Beautiful pen. My first nicer sailor, second 14k nib. Been fun to write with. The nib is stiff, gives some feedback. I have to use it gently, it doesn’t like pressure much.
The Celadon Cat by Diamine ink I used is a bit too light for this thin of a nib. Definitely thinner than western style medium nibs. Probably 0.3-0.5mm line width.

Started transcribing The Haunting of Hill House the other day. Probably won’t transcribe it all. So far I’m reading one section ahead and then deciding if I’m transcribing it or not. Transcribing always gets me excited for when I can finally write my pens dry and switch out the colours. I love my current palette but I still have some more samples I haven’t tried out in pens yet.
#journaling#transcribing#fountain pens#fountain pen inks#the three inks are:#a BPC brown mix#Monteverde strawberry shortcake#sailor shikiori Fuji-sugata#and the title is#wearingeul the plague#which is honestly just an almost black purple#I was disappointed but not surprised#using it for titles with a 2mm hocoro dip pen#haven’t tried it in a pen yet but I think it’ll be much the same

NEW BABEY ALERT 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Some notes: I LOVE the feedback 10/10 for me.
Yes I went with this color bc none of my faves were available in EU in anything less than a Medium and I wanted an MF nib minimum.
Plus I also quite like the sparkles :3
This was a big investment but the first impressions have been great so far :)

Review of my Sailor Pro Gear Regular Fountain Pen
I have had the pleasure of exploring the world of Sailor fountain pens, and it has been quite the journey. Initially, I found myself needing time to adjust to the unique feedback these fountain pens offer. At first, I was unsure if I enjoyed it, but as time went on, I began to develop a deep appreciation for it. This newfound appreciation has even sparked my interest in expanding my collection with more Sailor fountain pens.
When people liken the experience of writing with a Sailor fountain pen to that of using a sharp pencil, I couldn't agree more. While some may perceive it as scratchy, I personally find the writing experience to be smooth, albeit not as buttery as with Pilot nibs. Trying out a Sailor fountain pen is crucial in determining if it aligns with your writing preferences. It may take some time for this fountain pen to truly grow on you.
Upon unboxing my Sailor fountain pen, I was immediately impressed. However, I did encounter some initial struggles with the feedback until I dedicated more time to using it. My nib preference is either medium or broad. I purchased a medium nib assuming it would suffice. To my surprise, it wrote thinner than expected, so I would recommend considering going up a nib size to what you would normally use.
The allure of Sailor fountain pens, especially the Pro Gear line with its captivating array of colors, special editions, and limited editions, is simply irresistible. I am particularly drawn to the modern and contemporary design of the Pro Gear, which not only looks sleek but also feels incredibly comfortable in hand. While I have yet to try the slim version, my regular Pro Gear has proven to be a delightful companion for my writing adventures.

Someone on reddit asked about my journaling supplies so I thought I’d share here too!
Traveler's Notebook is my only journaling system, I started using it in 2017 and have been loving it ever since!
The 4 fountain pens shown are my current inked pens that I'm cycling through, the Sailor Pro Gear Slim is my newest baby 🥺🤧
Having both the Kodak Mini 3 Retro and Mini 2 Retro is probably unnecessary but it’s nice having options of printing my photos in either 3x3" or 2x3". The 3x3" sometimes take up a lot of space on the page, and the 2x3" is perfect for that spot on the inside cover of a TN insert. The Kodak photo paper is also less bulky than Fuji Instax films!
The Kokuyo Dotliner is super handy for sticking photos and ephemera on pages without using liquid glue or a glue stick, and I think it gives my pages a cleaner look as opposed to taping them down
The rest of my supplies are watercolours, assorted washi tape, markers/mildliners, fineliners, stickers, etc

Excited to get some ink samples this week. I've drooled over Troublemaker Inks for years, but they're based in the Philippines and for a long time nobody in the US carried them. So I was very excited to learn that Vanness stocks them now.
Love love love shading inks. Troublemaker does dual-shaders. Not many brands do. Sailor is another, with their Manyo line. I have Manyo Hinoki and I love it.

I’m working on an art project which requires me to swatch a lot of inks by obtaining a lot of samples.
You will all be getting my unsolicited opinions about bottled inks. Here’s a sampler:
Sailor inks are for the rich. Noodler’s did some shit and you shouldn’t support them. I wrote three words in Organics Studio 5 months ago and it’s still smearing on my hands and over everything oh god oh god to this day. Ferris Wheel Press is my nemesis in this life and the previous.
#ink#fountain pen#bottled ink#fountain pen ink#ferris wheel press#sailor ink#noodler’s ink#writing#organics studio ink#fuck ferris wheel press#seriously okay? it makes me so mad#i want their colors to be good and they suck so much#don’t ask what noodler’s did just look it up
