I watched this in a directing class yeeears ago, it burrowed into my brain, and I’ve been looking for it ever since (BLESSINGS to the person on Youtube who uploaded it recently!!) Roy London was an acting teacher who worked with a tonnn of actors who went on to crush it in Hollywood (Brad Pitt, Jeff Goldblum, Sharon Stone, Geena Davis, Patrick Swayze, etc. etc. etc...) He especially made it a point to help women in the industry who struggled to find fulfillment and dimension in their acting at a time when TV/film had almost no roles of substance to offer them. A lot of the actresses he taught ended up using the success to start breaking those stereotypical molds for future generations. He did not publicly talk about his work much, nor really advertise his services which unfortunately makes it hard to look into his life and teaching style. (It seems like he also tailored his teaching to each student so it probably would’ve been difficult to share his approach to a wider audience even if he wanted to.) Sadly he passed far too young due to complications with AIDS, and this documentary is really the only thing I’ve ever seen that offers a window into what he and his teaching was like. (Unsure if the general lack of info about him is also related to the fact that he was a gay man during the 80s but I wouldn’t be surprised.) It just seems like he was such an incredible teacher, not just of acting but of life. I’m glad at least we have this. Highly recommend a watch if you’re interested in acting/directing/filmmaking/psychology/humanity.

I very rarely think about storylines for royjamie after richmond (because it breaks my heart a little to think of anyone of the team leaving) but like it's possible that jamie would choose to stay with richmond his whole career, it's also possible that the people at richmond itself would push for him to play for *insert the name of whatever other european football team is considered the best* and he becomes a proper super star, being invited for fancy events and shit.

(In a made up world where Ted stayed in London) Roy and Jamie got together while at richmond and now Roy travels with him everywhere as his own personal coach / PA / secret boyfriend / man behind the camera of every instagram post / personal grumpy cat / number one fan / emotional support teddy bear / personal chef etc He loves being with him 24/7 and finds it fulfilling to still be involved with football and helping someone be the best they can be but without the added pressure of having to constantly step outside his comfort zone that he'd have experienced being a manager to a whole team (he's doing good with being vulnerable with Jamie, he can do it with one person that he loves and he is still going to therapy for himself to work through his own trauma/CEN/grief and is focusing on learning to be in his skin as a human being and not this fucked up idea of masculinity he's got in his head) And Roy has a private instagram account under a random username where he follows and is followed only by the richmond team/coaches/Rebecca/Higgins + Keely + Georgie & Simon + his sister and he only uses it to post pictures of food, nature, weird shit he finds in the cities they visit, and his fit boyfriend. Since it's friends only he does use captions ("the muppet had a late night last night" with a picture of Jamie asleep on the floor) and all the himbos love to comment, especially Dani's "Sexy muchachos #JOY" under every single picture.

Jason and Monica are lowkey both neat and control freaks (obviously more Monica) and both feel under appreciated by their parents. They both discover who they are and learn to love and accept themselves of course with the help of their silly sarcastic boyfriend who just happens to be their older brother’s best friend. Roy and Chandler, 1, have had past addiction issues (chandler and his smoking, not matthew perry, rip) but both choosing to right their addictions. 2, Both use to be in a band *teehee* and 3, both want love but find it hard and have bad luck.

Me [sits up straight in a straitjacket]: You know what I just realized? That the verses in the original Les Rois du Monde match Romeo’s, Benvolio’s, and Mercutio’s personalities perfectly. Romeo’s verse is about the kings “living at the top” and having “the most beautiful view,” contrasting it with the true kings talking shit about them “below,” which is in-character for Romeo; even in the original Shakespeare his language vacillates between the ethereal and grounded and practical. So of course he would focus on that. By contrast, Benvolio’s verse focuses on how bored and alone the kings are compared to them. Sure enough, Benvolio is a party boy who loves “la danse” (hell, even in the Shakespeare he is the most gung-ho about going to the Capulet party). And of course, Benvolio ending up alone would be his own worst nightmare, which is what happens at the end of the musical (ouch, ouch, ouch). Mercutio’s verse, meanwhile, focuses on the kings’ fear and making “traps” that they would fall into one day. Mercutio comes from a ruling family, so of course his verse would be more political, and it’s in line with his cynicism (also, doing anything out of fear would be so damn stupid to Mercutio). Even the mention of the kings “protecting themselves from everything, even love” is in-character, because Mercutio himself doesn’t believe love is something to be guarded against. It’s something light and not very serious (see: his Shakespearean counterpart describing love as a “tender thing”). So when Romeo and Mercutio sing together, they continue the politically-tinged theme of the kings fighting amongst themselves (Mercutio) and the idiocy of that war (Romeo), with Benvolio echoing them as support. So I guess that’s why I prefer the Romeo-Benvolio-Mercutio verse order rather than the Mercutio-Benvolio-Romeo one in the Hungarian. It just makes it more about the three of them rather than it just being Mercutio talking shit (legit, though, lol), Benvolio being his wingman, and Romeo mostly vibing with (1) throwaway but insightful critique. Also, it just so happens to be the same order the three speak in the equivalent scene in the play, which is a plus. I don’t know, does this make sense?

This is one of my favorite insignificant scenes in Ted Lasso Roy handing the ‘best dressed’ award to the girl with the pony tail and the girl with the two pigtails looking all sad and annoyed, but when the camera switches to focus on Roy you can see the first girl handing her the award in the background

Like that’s exactly the way a child would react to not receiving the pointless award that they wanted and the fact that her teammate gave her the award without hesitation was so cute. The concept of a best dressed award in football is so ridiculous yet she handed over straight away because she knew it would make her teammate smile 😭

Also pigtails girl deserved best dressed either way, she dressed up with her little bracelets and her bow, it’s not her fault Roy didn’t care to notice 🙄

Always lowkey simmering a Leverage AU in the back of my head hear me out:

Ted is an ex-insurance investigator who was able to get his son life-saving medical treatment because his first, original Crime Pal Beard was like ‘Ted if your company doesn’t come through with the coverage, we’re doing things my way.’

The company did not come through. The company did let him go due to suspicion of Ted’s involvement in the incident, but Ted will happily remind folks that no charges were formally pressed. Henry is alive and healthy and living with Michelle, who divorced Ted shortly thereafter (not just because of pre-existing marital problems, but because Ted wouldn’t tell her anything about why the doctors “””suddenly decided to do the procedure for free”””). Shortly thereafter, Ted fled the country.

What Ted learned from the whole experience is that there’s a lot of people out there, good people just trying to live by the rules, but sometimes things happen that are just out of their control. And well- if we’ve got the means to help the good people out when no one else will, then shouldn’t we try?

“We’ve got means,” Beard agrees. “And motives.”

They do things Beard’s way now.
