i listened to tristen robins' showbound episode while doing tasks today, losing my absolute mind that little man was fully prepared to go to an ivy on academic scholarship and study engineering...but he was too short to be scouted 💔 in the frat au he is the one guy in the frat who is not studying finance, business, or international relations. everyone else is headed to dc, new york, or chicago etc but tristen is headed to the west coast (bay area) for some good old-fashioned software engineering at a tech company. starts at google. gets bored at google. goes to twitter. gets bored at twitter (quits as soon as musk takes over.) goes to ea games. still bored but if he quits his third job in three years his resume is going to be a mess. goes to a university happy hour meet up thing in sf and meets aaron dell, who was not part of the frat and graduated several years before tristen started.

aaron dell is a civil engineer slowly losing the will to live as he works on the bart extension project. he got a green card for this project and he wants to die. he talks at great length to tristen about train tracks. he is so boring yet so enchanting, to tristen (and tristen only.) "i have to fuck that old man," tristen thinks. he is intellectually and sexually stimulated for the first time since he graduated university. decides in that moment to devote his life to psychosexually terrorizing aaron dell into bed and/or marriage. boring software jobs will be worth it if he has this old man to come home to. aaron dell is still talking about train tracks and doesn't notice how bright tristen's eyes are getting
