Sango was 19 when she had her second kid, not 21, and 17 years old when she had the twins. She is only 1 year older than Kagome. Now, think about Souta, he was only a year older that Rin in the series, an in the sequel he has to be an adult to be able to adopt 4 years old Towa.

ANYWAY, the argument still stands. If Rin is going to be a mother at 17 (like Sango did) Kagome will be 24. This is 6 years after the finale of the final act. You really think that in those 6 years Inuyasha and Kagome were together they waited 6 years to concieve a child?? After they’ve been together for such a long time? And after making Sango having her first one at such a young age (17) i believe they have similar plans for Kagome.

Even If They’re Apart Now, The Yashahimes and Rion Are Sisters at Heart

Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha have continued to battle rigorously against Kirinmaru. The girls meeting with Rion allowed them to gain new weapons and power up. No matter if each of their circumstances differ, whether they be half-demon, quarter-demon, or demon, their faces are that of ordinary girls. A bond like comradery/friendship has sprouted between the 3 Yashahimes and Rion. However, danger has now befallen on that connection. Kirinmaru’s incarnation, Kirin Osamu, has kidnapped Rion and is trying to create a new world using her and the Grim Comet’s power. Can Towa and the others save Rion who’s been absorbed by the Grim Butterfly? For the days the 4 of them spent together laughing to not end in memory, they take on the final battle that is about to begin with strong determination!!

Character Bios

Higurashi Towa Sesshōmaru’s older twin daughter. Even though she uses the Zanseiken that Rion entrusted to her, sucking up demonic energy steals her Kon at the same time; thus, she risks her life fighting.

Setsuna Sesshōmaru’s younger twin daughter. She can cut the threads of fate of humans and demons with the naginata, “Yukari no Tachikiri”. She worries about Towa fighting with the Zanseiken.

Moroha Inuyasha and Kagome’s daughter. Receiving a bow that Kagome made, she faces the threat of the Grim Comet alongside Towa and Setsuna.

Rion Kirinmaru’s daughter. For 600 years, she was sealed within the barrier of Mt. Musubi. Cooperating with the Yashahimes, she attempted to stop Kirinmaru’s ambition but……

Secret Stories One After Another, “Yashahime” A Long Conversation on the Eve of the Decisive Battle Director Hishida Masakazu X Naka Hisakazu

With a depiction that has crossed over from The First Chapter to The Second Chapter, the Yashahimes’ battle is finally reaching its climax. We had Director Hishida and Producer Naka talk about Kirin Osamu, who’s existence has become that of a final boss, and highlights for the final stage!

The Final Decisive Battle Has Finally Come! Kirin-Sensei Holds the Key

— Gearing towards the climax, Kirin Osamu’s existence has become big, but what is the “difference” between him and Kirinmaru?

Naka: In The First Chapter, Kirin-sensei was still something like “an existence that had some sort of connection with Kirinmaru” and he hadn’t been deeply established yet. However, with the story setting returning to the modern era, the only existence that could become a key was him; thus, because we discussed how we wanted to depict him with that, he became the kind of character (that you see now) as a result. Kirinmaru is the type to seek his own strength rather than destroy humans, but Kirin-sensei’s way of thinking is more extreme and goes in the direction of “destroy demons”. In that sense, he’s an existence with a position that hasn’t been seen until now.

Hishida: Also, a clear difference between (him) and Kirinmaru is their knowledge. He himself has lived for around 500 years and has seen how mankind has behaved within that time. In the present, he studied human history and knows about the huge wars that have crossed over twice*. He has a vague understanding of what he needs to do to dominate the world from an intelligence perspective which is different from Kirinmaru who seeks only strength. However, their core of loving Rion is fundamentally the same. Rion is at the center of their thoughts, so they end up taking actions that turn their surroundings into hell.

(Translator’s Note: I think he’s referring to World War I and II)

Naka: The trait of (Kirin-sensei) deciding for himself that “Surely this is what Rion wants too” is the same as Kirinmaru, isn’t it?

Hishida: It’s completely the same. That’s why we depict a way that ensures that that part doesn’t blur or rather, we’ve (hopefully) been expressing that nothing good comes from that kind of overprotectiveness.

— Hosoya Yoshimasa-san, who plays Kirin, also plays as Kirinmaru, so what sort of acting directions did you give him?

Hishida: I told Hosoya-san to fundamentally do the same as he did in The First Chapter, indifferent and detached basically…… that’s how I had him play Kirin.

Naka: Sound Director Nagura (Yasushi)-san directed him in a way that allowed him to differentiate from Kirinmaru, but I think it was a lot of work for Hosoya-san. Afterall, we get to the final stage and Kirin-sensei suddenly shows all these different sides to him.

Hishida: He does talk a lot in the final stage.

The Story Heads into the Climax with Various Feelings Accumulated!

— Looking back on The Second Chapter, which scenes are you personally attached to?

Naka: For me, it was when Setsuna fully mastered the “Yukari no Tachikiri”. After entering The Second Chapter, there was a build up for the mastery of “Yukari no Tachikiri”, so I was glad that the goal was finally accomplished.

Hishida: My personal favorite was when Setsuna held Towa’s hand during Moroha’s reunion with Inuyasha and Kagome. She couldn’t hug her own parents due to circumstances that didn’t allow for a reunion, so it gave you a sense that Setsuna still had her older sister despite that. The impression of the image was simple, but I think it was a good scene.

Naka: You could feel an internal change within Setsuna in that moment.

Hishida: Before, she wouldn’t have cried at all…… I did a good job if I do say so myself (laughs). It’s there that Setsuna realizes that she “didn’t have any sentiment towards blood relatives”. Towa grew up surrounded by the Higurashi family in the modern era but if asked whether Setsuna grew up with the same kind of ample love, the answer would be no, not as much. That’s why I was truly glad that Towa was right beside Setsuna at that moment. The fact that Setsuna became able to hold Towa’s hand shows how much she’s grown. Even though the scene was short, it had a lot of meaning behind it.

Naka: At first, there had been a plot idea for Setsuna to not go to that place.

Hishida: At first, yes, but I wanted Towa and Setsuna to see the figure of Moroha reuniting with her parents no matter what. There was also the fact that it was there that I wanted them to clearly realize the thing that they did not yet have in their possession. In a way, it was a preface for the last (phase of the story).

— We are finally diving into the climax, but which character should we pay attention to?

Hishida: I’d say Riku.

Naka: As a character who’s facing Towa from the opposite side, Riku is in a good position. He’s trying to protect Towa while being in a state where if Kirinmaru dies, he will die as well. He also protects Rion because she’s always been important to him, but what will happen to him in the final part? That I think is a highlight.

Hishida: There’s also Kirin-sensei. From how he’s been depicted so far, Kirin-sensei seems like a good person, but he changes after reuniting with Rion.

Naka: He’s ultimately not a bad person though.

Hishida: Everyone in this work has their own (definition of) justice and believes that theirs is correct, which is troublesome (laughs).

— We’re also curious to see how the Yashahimes will act.

Hishida: In episode 41, “Akuru’s Pinwheel”, Rin did say “Please come back alive without fail!” “And then please allow me, along with Lord Sesshōmaru, to hug you both as tight as we can!”, so it’s a matter of whether that will be realized or not. That along with the aspect of “Will that Sesshōmaru really hug his daughters though!?”, is a point worth noting.

Naka: As a principle of this work, we think it isn’t right for the three (girls) to resolve things in a way that Inuyasha or Sesshōmaru could, so we’re making it in a way that “it’s because it’s those three that things were resolved like this”. That’s something the director has always been fixated on, so it would be great if (viewers) can think of a solution that is unique to the three (girls).

Hishida: To kill or to save. I think that will become key. Getting close to Rion is something Inuyasha and Sesshōmaru can’t do.

Naka: We want to end things in satisfying way so please look forward to it.

#The Right Arm and The Daughter’s Counterattack!

Kirinmaru In order to revive his beloved daughter, Kirinmaru planned to use Towa’s body as a vessel for Rion’s soul. However, Kirin, who was once his own right arm, snatches Rion and Kirinmaru in turn gets used by him.

#Unexpected Last Boss!?

Kirin Osamu Originally Kirinmaru’s right arm that had been thrown away into the “Bone Eater’s Well”. Though he is Towa’s middle school homeroom teacher, he secretly slays demons in the modern era. He tries to fulfill his ambition by using Rion.

Sesshōmaru During his battle with Kirinmaru, Sesshōmaru sustained serious damage. Even though he escaped danger thanks to Towa’s Zanseiken, will a time ever come when he can spend peaceful days with Rin and his daughters, whom he has watched over……?

Riku An incarnation born from Kirinmaru’s horn. He falls in love with Towa and betrays Kirinmaru as a result. He was in a position of protecting Rion, but they were separated because of Kirin. Thus, he heads to save her alongside the Yashahimes.

“Papa Sesshōmaru, when will you give a sister or brother to play with?” Rin asks sweetly and innocently yet it’s the question that makes Onigumo ---a reborn Naraku free of his evil soul--- spit his tea.

In the three years since Naraku’s defeat, many things had happened. The first was their former enemy being reborn in the spider demon clan with no memory and evil in his heart. The second was the return of Kirinmaru and the third was the inevitable wedding of Sesshōmaru to his lovers Kirinmaru and Onigumo.

Rin had welcomed her two new fathers with open arms and had made them all come have this very special tea with her.

“Go on, husband, answer her.” Kirinmaru teases.

“I do not know, Rin.” Sesshōmaru was very sure it would be impossible for three men to produce a child. Rin did not know that, and he would rather wait another year to explain why to her.

“Well, daughter, he may not know, but I do.” Onigumo said with a smirk. He had news it seemed. “In eight months or so you will have sisters.”

Sesshōmaru choked on his tea.

I always thought Rin and Sesshōmaru was a disgusting ship, I still think so, and in the Yashahime Series they even got kids. So... Yeah. 🤢

Compared to RinxSess I think Childe/Tartaglia/Ajax x Lumine is a nice pair. Even IF Lumine was 16/17 before the 2k years of sleep (and even if you don't count that even though it IS TIME THAT HAS PASSED so she's literally over 2k years old,so is Aether) and EVEN IF Childe is 18/19(which is an adult in most European Countries and Russia, which Snezhnaya is based on,which where Childe is from!) they're just 2-3 years apart from each other.

Back in the days boyfriend was 19 when I just turned 17, so I was a minor too, so what?! No one bat an eye. We were happy with our relationship. It's just 3 f--ing years! Besides, aren't there more important things to fuss over instead of PIXEL IN A DIFFERENT UNIVERSE with different rules?!

Please stop bullying the Childe|Tartaglia/Traveler shippers. And I noticed if it's Childe/Aether or Xiao/Aether it suddenly became okay. Wtf man.

Kohaku did exist

Since hearing about the sequel I have noticed alot of speculation regarding how Sesshōmaru must have slept with Rin to get his kids, but I’m pretty sure the series ended with Rin marrying  Kohaku and  Sesshōmaru promising to protect her bloodline. Demons also live longer than humans so I would assume it more likely one of her decedents or if you follow the game series maybe another time traveler?  

Sorta feeling the vibe from the episode where Hojo’s ancestor line had Kagome’s name, but it turned out that said ancestor just has some random woman change her name in the end....so could be something similar. 

Still I’m pretty sure Rin and Kagome would be very loyal to their spouses as they proved character wise through out the original series. So as much as people are screaming  Sesshōmaru x Rin is the cause its more than likely not the case since Kohaku did exist to marry Rin in the end!

The Key is 7 (Rainbow) Pearls and Zero! Save Mother (Rin) With the Bond of Sisters!!

Towa and Setsuna learn that their mother, Rin, has been cursed by Kirinmaru’s elder sister, Zero. Setsuna’s naginata “Yukari no Tachikiri” has the power to sever the connection between Rin and Zero, and Setsuna is gradually mastering that power. Towa, who has acquired the new “Zanseiken”, is currently facing her inner self. Sesshōmaru watches over his daughters from a distance that is neither too far or too close. Although his true intention is difficult to understand, it can be thought that Sesshōmaru believes in his daughters’ growth and has entrusted Rin’s fate to them. Character Bios

Sesshōmaru A proud, ruthless demon who guides Towa and Setsuna as their father. He’s having Rin, who’s been cursed by Zero, sleep within the Tree of Ages.

Setsuna Sesshōmaru’s daughter and Towa’s younger twin sister. In order to save her mother, Rin, she is currently training to master the “Yukari no Tachikiri”, a new naginata forged by Tōtōsai that is suitable for the blood blade she inherited from Sesshōmaru.

Higurashi Towa Sesshōmaru’s daughter and Setsuna’s older twin sister. She uses the “Zanseiken”, which is a counterpart to the “Bakuseiken” that Kirinmaru possesses. With her feelings of “wanting to protect Setsuna” strong, she always worries about her.

Sesshōmaru does not show parental tenderness towards his daughters. However, as a result, his actions are making Towa and Setsuna grow and also guiding them towards saving Rin. — Storming in to The Second Chapter, what sort of change will come to the 3 Yashahimes?

There’s no mistake that they’re getting stronger and stronger, both physically and mentally. In The Second Chapter, there are many episodes where Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha are moving separately, but they will regroup again at the end and that’s when I think you’ll see how each one has grown.

— How is the existence of the newly debuted Rion influencing the story?

Depicting the parent-child (relationship) between Rion and Kirinmaru also means depicting the parent-child relationship between Towa, Setsuna, and Sesshōmaru and Moroha and Inuyasha. Thus, this allows each of them to compare to one another. I think that with Rion’s appearance, it gradually becomes a “story about parent and child” that you can see by looking at how Sesshōmaru and Kirinmaru act as parents and how they raised their children.

In The First Chapter, Kirinmaru in particular was depicted as an invincibly strong enemy, but this time through Rion’s existence, you come know that he actually has a weak side as well. Kirinmaru as a greater demon and Kirinmaru as a father are completely different, so I felt that that had to be properly depicted.

— Therefore, in a sense, The Second Chapter is also the parents’ story.

In that sense, there is a part that’s like a “child rearing” showdown with Sesshōmaru, but you can’t unconditionally say which one did it right. However, what is more important than anything in the demon world is “to survive”, so Towa and Setsuna are actually surviving somehow. Sesshōmaru said it was a “test of courage and cowardice” but it’s something he’s doing based on his own various ideas. (translator’s note: not confident on this sentence)

— Sesshōmaru’s every action is being watched, so what are you careful of when depicting him?

This gets pointed out in Takahashi (Rumiko)-sensei’s checks as well, but I’d have to say, “not talking too much”. There are many things he doesn’t say, even though he’s thinking it, and the notations for “….” in the script have various nuances, so we’re extremely careful with his facial expressions during those times. In any case, he’s a character that must never act affectionate (dere) or smile, and he doesn’t smile even in the scenes with Rin. Looking at this work from another perspective, it is also “Sesshōmaru’s story”, so we make sure not to blur that important aspect.

— Hitting on depicting the story of the Yashahimes, are there any points that you yourself are particular about Director?

(This work) inherits the world of “Inuyasha”, so it conforms to the rules of “Inuyasha” when presenting techniques and play production or rather, it follows the same methodology so to speak. Animation wise, there’s an arduous aspect to it but this is a work where you tackle that head on, so I make sure that I don’t spare on the number of flat animations (translator’s note: ? not confident on this). Also, girls are the lead characters, so I strive to make the images pretty. For example, adding decoration to imagery. There are many instances where mountains and forests are the setting, but I treat pretty situations like waterfront (scenes) with care, thinking it would be nice if the picture was gorgeous.

— Then is there a scene or episode that you personally have an emotional attachment to?

Episode 25 where Setsuna gets revived as I oversaw the storyboard myself. In the scene where Sesshōmaru touches Towa and Setsuna’s cheeks with his hands, he calls out “Setsuna”, which is the first time he says her name. In the final scene of episode 24 of The First Chapter, when he hands the Tenseiga to Towa, he calls her “Towa” for the first time. Calling his daughters names in a sequential manner left an impression on me.

— In the scene where Sesshōmaru touches his daughters’ cheeks, I could feel a gentleness from the movement of his hands.

I was very unsure if that part was slightly too affectionate. For Sesshōmaru, that is top tier affectionate that can’t go any higher. Doing that when his daughters aren’t looking is like a father putting the covers over his child while they’re asleep (laughs). I also like the raccoon dog episodes of 34 and 35. They’re episodes where Moroha moves independently but the more she moves, the more incidents she creates, or rather how should I put it? I realized once again that she has the power to pull the story along. Although, it’s not good that she thinks she can overcome anything with (just) fighting spirit and will-power (laughs). It was fun seeing Moroha team up with Takechiyo and his little brother, Kikunosuke, who are cute, and Awa no Hachiemon Danuki, who also appeared in “Inuyasha”.

— Please tell us some highlights going forward.

From episode 36 onwards, there will be continuous developments that will definitely relate to the main story. Clear answers will be given for those things that made people who have watched ‘till now feel uncertain, so I think it’s definitely best if you don’t miss it. If you do by chance miss it, streaming is fine but please watch it somehow. It’s to that point that you must see it. After that, it will continue to heat up with climactic developments, so it will be intense for us work wise, but I’d like to do my best without stopping!

Q&A With Numbers

Q. How long does it take for the three princesses to fall asleep?

Moroha probably falls asleep 3 seconds after she’s laid down. Despite Towa looking at Moroha and saying, “You’re already asleep?”, I think she falls asleep within a minute. Even though Setsuna has become able to sleep, she still has old habits, so she has a hard time falling sleep and she seems like she would get lost in thought so I think she wouldn’t sleep for an hour. And then she would be the first one to wake up. Until now, she’s lived her life imprinted with “I’m fine without sleeping”, so I think she’s a short sleeper. (Hishida)

Q. Feeling down! How long does it take for the three princesses to recover?

Moroha probably takes 3 seconds? She acted as if nothing happened when she was thrown in the prison cell, so she recovers quickly. Towa has dragged with her the fact that she let go of Setsuna’s hand since she was young, but for things outside of Setsuna, surprisingly, she doesn’t really get depressed, I think. She seems like she would recover after sleeping overnight. Setsuna seems like she would drag on until the problem is resolved. For example, if she couldn’t buy something she wanted, she would regret it for a long time. She might be the type to line up for something a month before it goes on sale. (Hishida)

Q. How long do you think Inuyasha and Sesshōmaru would wait for a meet up?

Sesshōmaru is 0 seconds! There might be times where he’ll keep someone waiting but he’ll never wait for someone. Even if he did wait, he’d watch from afar and when the other person arrives, he’d fly to them like zoom. If it’s Rin, I think he’ll show up the moment she arrives and it’s probably the same with his daughters as well. If it’s Inuyasha, he seems like he would make someone wait around 3 months. I also have a feeling that Inuyasha can wait on someone for around 3 months, though he’ll complain saying, “They’re so late”. Demons do live for hundreds of years. (Hishida)

He doesn’t know what possessed him to give in to her. He says as they lay side by side in some strangely comfortable bed in wherever the fuck they were.

“Two years of repressing your less honorable feelings for me, and this is my bedroom in my estate in Spain.” she is still out of breath, her dark almost black hair is a wavy mess on the soft light blue bedding. Amaya’s red and purple eyes shine brightly from the exertion and her pale neck is lovingly adorned with his bites. The bites would fade away and she would leave again. She always did and one day she would never come back and he would not care that she had left him.

That was the lie he told himself nowadays. He had feelings for her, but the last person he loved had died because of it and he did not wish to repeat the experience. Amaya Mendoza was a time traveler assigned to keep the past as it should and he knew what type of dangers she faced in each mission. Sesshōmaru remembers far to well that they met because she died in her mission to keep his brother’s wife from ruining the past.

Amaya came and went as she pleased, visiting Rin who missed her. He missed her too, but he would never say it out loud. Sesshōmaru hated to admit that he was afraid of saying what he felt. He had always been like that even with Yusuke, his late husband.

“You don’t have to; I can read your aura. Although it wouldn’t kill you to say something nice every once in a while.” She curled up beside him and for once he did not push her away.

He had thought he had done so in these past hours. Was it not her name he cried out in ecstasy? Sesshōmaru was very sure he had been rather nice and thoughtful when he let her take the lead in their lovemaking.

She laughs at his thoughts, “It’s a wonder you were married, Sesshōmaru. I know you are reserved and quiet, but you must have made an effort for him.”

Amaya understood him, he did not need to say things out loud for her. Although she did not hesitate to tell him how she felt, she did not pressure him to be as vocal about it as she is.

“I prefer letting my actions do the talking.” He smirks.
