He was sweating. It was a hot sunday in Wabang.

The heat of the holy day wasn't the only thing sending him into a swelter. It was you. 

Your families had liked each other, doing work for one on the land if needed, and the other returning the favor. They were friendly. You’d known Rhett from school. 

There you stood before him in the pew, back facing him. You wore a white sundress, your hair was down, a light pink bow pasted in, holding up your half-up hair-do. Cowboy boots adorned your feet, he smiled at that. Dash of personality in the mess of the sunday-stiffness. Your parents spoke with his, and you turned around to face him, red-polished fingernails curling around the bench as you leaned in, cross necklace falling perfectly between your breasts.

“Hi, Rhett.” Plush lips pushing into a smile.

He swallowed, “-hi Y/N”

“It’s so nice to see you’re still comin’ into the lil’ old church after all these years, bull riding, college, all that. Nice to see you” You beamed.

His lips curled into a slight smile, and he avoided eye contact. 

“How’s your sunday treating you, you like you’re just…burning up in your sunday best, Rhett.” Your head titled, sinister frown replacing your bright smile as he leaned closer to you over the pew.

“We both might as well have burst into flames when we walked in.” He whispered into your ear, and you shivered. 

Fact is, you have seen Rhett. Last night, and the night before that, and so on. You’d reunited with Rhett at the bar after a few years of his absence two months ago. He’d asked you to dance drunkenly, you agreed, drunkenly. All that a few shared cigarettes outside and you’d find yourself rolling around with both your pants down at your ankles in the back of his truck in your driveway when he’d driven you home that night.

Each night since then had been hushed, texts reading ‘meet me here’ ‘meet me there’. After last night Rhett is particularly flustered on God’s day because innocence is radiating off the body in that white dress that he had done sinful things to the night prior.

He first had you on the driver's side of the car.

“-com’on baby, god…shit, baby you feel ngh-so damn good” Rhett huffed with his hand cemented to the ceiling of his truck as you bounced on top of him, your sweet moans echoing off the steamed windows. 

“Rhett, baby…so deep. Makin’ me sweat like a sinner in church, jesus.” You panted, hands gripping his hair and shoulders as your bodies suctioned together in the humid air of the truck. 

Then he took you on the hood

Your palms were firmly planted on the hood of the car, a ford logo was being pressed into your breasts, as Rhett slammed into you. 

“-Shi’ baby, hold on.” His chest heaved with every word. “God damn, girl” he let out a chuckle as you started to match his thrusts by pushing your hips back at the same time

“Com’ on Rhett, git in there deep, baby how I like it.” You bit your lip into a smile as he gripped your waist and continued his attack.

“Rhett!” Your mother turned to speak to him, “So lovely seein’ you. How are you?” 

“I am just great, Mrs.L/N, thank you for askin’ ma’am. Been a long time since we seen y’all.” He choked on his words a bit, as he was pulled from his lustrous thoughts of last night.

“Y’know, you two knew each other right? Why dont yall get together sometime, hang out? Y/N just been loungin’ like a cat and smokin’ like a chimney since she been home this summer…” Your mother droned

“Momma!” You yelped, pulling her sleeve “Have not…” You pouted, and Rhett let out a chuckle. 

“Y’know maybe we will just plan somethin’, we do have some catching up to do.”

The service was over, and everyone was finishing their ‘peace be with you’s’ and you turned to Rhett, hand reaching to his. You looked up at him with long lashes, smiling. You grabbed his hands, 

“Peace be with you” You finished, and felt a paper slide into your hands from his. He winked,

“And peace be with you.”

John's the lead singer, I'm thinking a Kaleo/NEEDSTOBREATHE style voice. Raspy but clear. Hes a little bit of a rake, a little bit of a trouble maker but nothing too bad.

Evan's the bassist, but he also sings. Because they all sing cuz I say so. He's got a strong, clear voice. I'm thinking along the lines of Shinedown.

Teldy is the lead guitarist and she can shred like no other. Slash wishes he could do what she does. She sounds like Bishop Briggs.

Cadman is not someone who sings a lot, but she can belt. Adele/Leona Lewis those kinda power houses. She just really enjoys the piano more than singing.

9. What is Rook like on the battlefield?

Bishop has two modes (and it isn't just because the game let me have my cake and eat it too) 

1 - the distraction, big shiny opulent swords, flipping about, attention on him so everyone else can either line up their shots or get to cover, can land a deadly blow his knives but that’s mostly from sheer amount of slices or poison, he prefers to use them because it’s a turn brain off, defend kind of reflex.

 2 - serious business, you will not even know who shot you before an arrow is sticking through your chest. throat. eye. Bishop’s dad was an ex-Dalish hunter who taught him how to shoot when he was young, he didn’t tolerate anything but a debilitating blow for a quick death. (Slowing down time, taking a breath, landing a headshot is my FAVORITE)

10. Does Rook know their history? Do they know of the HoF, Hawke, the Inquisitor?

-Bishop truly knows piss all about the fifth blight, his extent of HoF knowledge is because his ex’s sister - Seja - is married to a man who knew the HoF. From hearsay Warden Commander Aeducan sounds like a fine woman, a little larger than life from the stories but Seja’s husband is always saying some insane shit about some hero/legend he’s apparently friends with when he’s in town. (and that man is Nathaniel Howe sdjkfjdfk)

-Being good friends with Isabela in the LoF, Bishop has actually met Hawke a few times. Isabela’s loves live on the coast of Llomerryn, hiding away from their pasts so it’s not often they make it up the the mainland. Marian is a delight but has a lot on her plate. He’s met their kids though and all of Bela’s “pups” are very cute. Sounds like they came from a shit place and Bishop doesn’t pry, Lords come from all backgrounds and he’s not fused with southern chantry bullshit/Bishop has personal beef with the southern mage circles anyway. (“Bishop, they blew up a church.” “None of my business. Plus she makes a mean pickled egg.”)

-Bishop doesn’t hold the inquisitor very high, his sister Eleni got killed from a fade rift on the Stormcoast and he’s still angry/resentful about that ;;; his anger dies a little when Isabela puts in a good word for Varric and Varric tries to put in a good word for Nollwyn even though Bishop is determined to dislike them - upon meeting they are just, a 30 something kid and it fucks him up. (when he finally meets Minnie and finds out Solas charmed her away with him when she was only 21 y/o he wants to kill the Egg inside his head even more-so than before, it’s messy, she’s haunted about it and Bishop feels the need to comfort her but doesn't know what to do.)

40. Describe Rook’s bed:

Bishop is a stomach sleeper and runs warm when he’s sleeping! So his ideal would be a firm bed with a million pillows and just a sheet. To be acceptable to sleep on whatever he does need at least four pillows, and if it’s cold at least a quilt to temporarily drape over himself and kick off in the middle of the night when he gets too hot. He’s not picky about what it looks like, he doesn’t spend much time in it anyway (at least pre-veilguard wink/wonk)

Right now the main storylines in this division appear to be: Strickland vs. Danielson; MJF vs. Garcia; Ospreay or MJF vs. PAC; Perry vs. a returning Darby Allin; and Briscoe, Cassidy, and O'Reilly against Strong, Matt Taven, and Mike Bennett. I'm confident Jericho, Big Bill, and Bryan Keith will continue feuding with HOOK, Samoa Joe, and Shibata, but that seems to be on hold (possibly creating room for the teased Jericho vs. Minoru Suzuki program).

Okada and Page seem a bit lost in the shuffle for now, even though they're both in the "blood & guts" double cage match on 7/24, and Okada has a non-title match with Strickland this week. Both men could be set up as challengers for Swerve, but not right away. My guess is they'll just be squashing a lot of undercard guys over the next six weeks.

The Don Callis Family is in a bit of disarray, what with Powerhouse Hobbs and Trent Beretta getting injured, Ospreay leaving the group, and Takeshita about to tour Japan for a month. On 7/13 Callis started an issue with Billington, Cash Wheeler, and Dax Harwood, but as it stands he won't have anybody to back him up against those guys except Kyle Fletcher. So I expect some big moves from Callis, and it'll take more than simply trying to recruit Rush.

The tag division is pretty lopsided, although that doesn't have to be a problem if you're keeping both sets of belts on the two heel teams. But if, for example, the Acclaimed actually dethrone the Young Bucks soon, they're gonna need a mess of heel teams to work with in a hurry. (In theory you could just cannibalize the trios division to fill the void, but I'm not a fan of doing that.)

Five months into AEW's alliance with CMLL, Kommander seems to be the only luchador left in AEW that hasn't severed all ties with CMLL's rival, AAA. I expect he'll either drop the title and stop working for AAA, or he'll gradually get phased out of AEW (which would be a huge mistake in my opinion).

The trios division has been kinda wild lately because a lot of the bigger acts, like Chris Jericho's Learning Tree or Mark Briscoe's Conglomeration, have been nowhere near the trios title. Instead we've had two heel teams--the Patriarchy and the House of Black--chasing a third--Jay White and the Gunns--and two of those three teams are now down a man, so now it's Patriarchy vs. Robinson and the Gunns vying for the vacant title. I'm not even sure if AEW is trying to turn House of Black or the Bang Bang Gang babyface, but it's clearly happening one way or another.

(Technically, Buddy Matthews is out with a storyline injury and has yet to return. But since that was to cover for his legit honeymoon, and since WWE is heavily promoting the return of his wife Rhea Ripley for tonight, I assume Buddy doesn't have anything better to do this week than to stage his own return.)

It feels like the women's division is firing on all cylinders lately. We've got four key feuds--Storm vs. May, Mone vs. Britt Baker, Nightingale vs. Statlander, and Rosa vs. Purrazzo--not to mention Athena vs. Aminata and Billie Starkz vs. Red Velvet over in ROH. It also seems like Shida, Nyla, and Skye are being primed to step up when the time comes. This is really good--it feels like a division, and not just the same six women endlessly wrestling each other.

No televised AEW matches in over 30 days: Aaron Solo, Alex Reynolds, Angelo Parker, Bobby Dutch, Brandon Cutler, Diamante, Evil Uno, Griff Garrison, John Silver, Lance Archer, Lee Johnson, Marina Shafir, Taya Valkyrie, Vincent Marseglia

Everybody here is mainly working midcard matches for the ROH tapings. Right now I can't even tell that any of them are being set up for matches in the Death Before Dishonor show on 7/28, which seems like a waste. But all of them are still working regularly, even if you haven't seen them around lately.

Baker, Harwood, Wheeler, and Allin all just came back to TV. Lethal and Singh have been on-screen supporting Jeff Jarrett, but that's about it. (Singh was recently moved out of the official roster's wrestlers' section to the broadcasters' section, for whatever that's worth.) Athena is doing an angle on ROH where she says she can't wrestle but she has a title match scheduled. Velvet is also booked for the ROH PPV. The Patriarchy clobbered Sabian on TV the other day, but I'm not sure whether that means he'll be doing anything in the near future.

The last I heard about Guevara is that his suspension was lifted some time ago, so I can only assume they haven't come up with a story to bring him back, or they're holding off so he can return alongside Tay Melo. Scorpio has been doing some weird vignettes to set up his return, although I can't remember seeing one in a while. I'm starting to wonder what's up with Wardlow, Starks, and Vance, and at this point I've given up hope Danhausen will ever be back.

No televised AEW or ROH matches in 2024: Dralistico, Luther, Mark Sterling, Michael Nakazawa, Mother Wayne, Paul Wight, Penelope Ford, Prince Nana, Rebel, Sonjay Dutt, Stokely Hathaway

Dralistico and Ford are the only ones on this list that I would expect to see wrestling regularly. Wight is clearly semi-retired, if not retired altogether. Luther, Sterling, Nana, Dutt, and Stokely could wrestle, but they're firmly established as seconds. I can't even remember the last time I saw Nakazawa or Rebel. Shayna Wayne, to my knowledge, has never been a pro wrestler, but I suppose sooner or later the Patriarchy will do a comedy mixed tag match.

I don't expect Hook, Jay White, or Garcia to be gone for very long--ideally all three should return to set up grudge matches at Wembley Stadium. I'd say the same for Joe, except I don't know how long it will take to wrap up his filming schedule.

I don't know when Adam Cole will be back, but the fact he took a brainbuster from MJF in May suggests he's coming along pretty well. The big question is what there is for him to return to, now that the guy he turned heel on has also turned heel, and has moved on to new business. So there may be no rush to get him back on-screen, unless they have a story in mind.

Ortiz expects to be back around August. Melo is training for her in-ring return, but I wouldn't know how long that will take. I heard recently that Bandido is getting his wrist re-evaluated, but it's been a tough recovery so I won't be surprised if he's not back soon. I never heard of Copeland tearing any ligaments, so if he just had a broken bone that may not take much longer to recover from, although at his age I think he should take his time.

Everybody else on this list is a total question mark as far as I know. And I think it's worth remembering what Britt Baker recently said about suffering a mini-stroke during her time away. There are a lot of injury reports floating around online, but we never really know everything the wrestlers are going through when they're not on-screen.
