My book goal!

I, like many people, have set myself a Goodreads reading challenge this year! Last year my goal was 12 (one book every month) and I was able to read 15. Therefore, I decided to give myself a challenge this year of reading 20 books since I was turning 20! Currently, I am at 15 so I have 5 books to complete by the end of the year. I am also one book behind schedule but I am determined to get back on track by reading a book a week...

I am not sure that it will be entirely feasible with my university deadlines but I am up for the challenge...

I am more than 65% into the book & I am finding myself putting the book down more number of times than I imagined.

I flew through the parts involving the school but I am finding it hard to get through the parts that I am reading now. Anybody else having trouble like me?

Kalau novel thriller biasa mampu memicu adrenalin, rasa takut, atau perasaan terintimidasi, sedangkan novel ini lebih memainkan emosi si pembaca dengan menyelami tokoh Liz, wanita biasa, seorang guru bimbingan konseling, yang harus "bersaing" dengan wanita-wanita luar biasa cantik dan hidup glamor di perumahan The Palms. Tapi yang paling mendominasi adalah persaingan antara Liz dan gadis remaja bernama Kelsey. Karena sejak awal novel ini, sudah membocorkan siapa yang bertanggung jawab atas kejadian-kejadian aneh di The Palms. Sehingga kita fokus pada emosi tokoh yang ada Nggak cuma Liz, penulis juga menulis dari sudut pandang Phill, suami Liz yang digambarkan menarik. Bagaimana Phill berusaha mati-matian menutupi bahwa Kelsey telah berbuat tidak senonoh padanya tanpa menimbulkan kecurigaan Liz. Sebagai orang ketiga, aku memahami semua keputusan Phill, tapi kayaknya nggak terlalu bijaksana menyembunyikannya terlalu lama. Mungkin pembaca akan greget dengan tingkah Kelsey. Satu-satunya hal di dalam novel ini yang bikin aku pengen nimpuk itu cewek 😤 Novel ini lebih terkesan membuka "aib" kehidupan mewah. Membuat kita sebagai pembaca nggak perlu cemburu sama kehidupan mereka. Endingnya, ditutup dengan keren tanpa benar-benar menutup akhir cerita. Intinya sih rasa penasaran pembaca terpuaskan.
