i do think they are managing expectations and not going into the season as contenders for the title (tbf no one is) but even if charles wins races that will be huge for 2025-26

I agree anon! From the little I've heard/seen of Fred, he seems like a pretty no nonsense guy, so if he tells me that the goal is for Ferrari to win five races, I feel fairly confident that Ferrari might win five races. I actually prefer having my expectations managed in this way, rather than trying to pretend it would take anything short of a miracle to compete with Red Bull in their current form.

That being said, if anyone can pull off a miracle, it would be Charles. I'm less confident about him winning a WDC this year, but the way that this team is being restructured from the ground up to give Charles total control and the best shot at the championship, from Arthur Leclerc becoming a development driver, to Ollie Bearman being a test driver, and Ferrari reportedly refusing to re-sign Carlos unless he takes on a clear n2 position–well I think Charles has a good shot at 2025, and an even better shot at 2026 where the regs change and there's no guarantee that Red Bull will be on top anymore.

Something interesting to note as well is Adrian Newey (the technical mastermind behind RB's current success) thinking of standing down from the F1 team at RBR, and Fred apparently poaching several RBR engineers who worked on the RB19/20. All in all, things are looking like they could swing in the favour of a Charles Leclerc WDC at some point within the lifetime of Charles's contract extension. Charles definitely made the right choice staying with Ferrari, and I don't trust anyone saying otherwise.

adding to my tags because i’ve been thinkin a lot about the post i just reblogged and have more thoughts:

i’ll be real, the more i saw ‘hey adhd influencers are so annoying’ the more i worried that i was unconsciously contributing to the spreading reputation of adhd folks as annoying and over-pathologizing every symptom they experience

and then i realized. i am not a goddam influencer or life coach or representative. obviously i have some obligation as someone who cares about myself and the people that like my comics to not spread harmful ideology or blatant misinformation but i never intended myself to be a “’increase your productivity!!’ blog OR a ‘if you have XYZ you have adhd!’ blog. and i do this for fun, and originally started this blog bc i had a lot of internalized shame and self loathing about my adhd and thought if i could make it funny i might have less of that. let’s get real! and it worked!

i’ve obviously done this kind of thing— (hey these symptoms might be adhd!) a lot before in my life & on this blog, but there’s more to it than trying to be an “influencer” or whatever. a term that didn’t even exist when i started this blog!

i felt very isolated trying to find out if i had any mental problems & what have you originally because of large advice (etc) blogs with staunchly anti self Dx views at the time

so i overcorrected when i DID get dxed and tried to validate everyone who was like me. and of course. not the best course of action always for the ol mental health. tried to be the source of positivity and jokes that i didn’t see because the online adhd presence was near non-existent.

and anyway. i make a lot of fun of myself & the way m brain works in my comics obviously but it is not my obligation to... how do you say.... not be annoying online.

because if folks interpret MY little jokes as a strict guide to diagnosis. that’s on them, really, not me. i also believe “making adhd your entire personality” is a non-issue. so what if people find out they have it and get over excited with identifying as adhd. saying this as someone who DID do it. criticism of this gives the same vibes as people being annoyed that young queers make “being queer” their whole personality. im very obviously more than a guy with adhd, and id reckon other adhd comic artists are too. (im friends with a lot of them!) it’s fine to post about it online.

anyway. i just don’t take myself too seriously and i’m a comic artist for myself first! and you know what, i’ve been considered annoying my entire life. what do i care if a few more folks think i’m annoying. neurotypical or not

I’m always hesitant to talk about a problem that’s in Christian communities online because you get a lot of people telling you just to leave Christianity and our beliefs. I once saw a post from a woman pastor talking about the sexism she faces and how much more difficult it was for her and most of the replies were people telling her to abandon her beliefs or just being rude and stuff.

I know things like this are important to talk about and the internet is the best way to connect with people and spread awareness but it also means that people who hate have access to this kind of information and they try and use it against us.

One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision:“Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. (10 )For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.” —Acts 18:9-10

Also in that situation the best thing to do would probably be to block those people they clearly don’t care about the situation or the people affected by it. I know it doesn’t make the feeling go away but it prevents more people like that from seeing that post

something about the fact that el has been bought up with such exclusive ideas about good / bad people irks me because she's literally using entirely objective terminology (re: monster / superhero) for the two ends of her morality spectrum, and that fails to take into account the extreme grey area between the implications of those two terms. and humans as a whole cannot be monsters or superheroes and if she views herself as either one or another and cant accept herself as both or neither, that means she's been bought up with a distinct lack of association of sense of self with humanity. do you guys ever think about that?

I was thinking about dispassionate romance, where they're just in love as a matter of fact, when sparks don't fly when they touch but it's casually intimate -- y'all know I love passionate 'bloodlust in multiple ways' romance, but dispassionate romance is severely underappreciated!

And I was thinking that I would even be interested in a straight dispassionate romance (straight romance genre generally holds no appeal for me whereas queer romance does), but I realized I was only imaging a very old-fashioned and formal period piece couple, so I tried imaging a modern straight couple, like normal people I would see around campus, being sweet and casually intimate, just leaning into each other (way more high contact that historical couple's hand-kiss cause Change of Society Norms) and y'all, I gagged.

So it's shaping up that I definitely have some romance-aversion/repulsion xoxo couples stay away!

I'm not sure whether I would say Hank's view of things is entirely him being in denial, because on the one hand, he did play an undeniable role in Cristobal's death.

But on the other hand, the line between unintentional complicity and outright harm has always been a very big component of their relationship, this one case being different in that (unlike the bomb for example), it actually killed Cristobal, not just harmed him.

Hank did perceive his decision as a way for both of them to survive and tried desperately to persuade Cristobal to stay when it turned out they weren't on the same page. I fully believe he would not have made the same choice had he known the stakes were this high. He just genuinely "didn't think this through".

So while he's glossing over his complicity, it would make sense for him to see that Cristobal was killed by an outside 3rd party who was out to get them both.... because he kinda was.
