Dusted Mid-Year 2024, Part I (Oren Ambarchi to Loma)
Oren Ambarchi and crew
Half the year is gone already, and how did that happen? At Dusted, weâve spent six months listening to good records and bad. Weâve picked our very favorites, the top two from this yearâs pile. And now, in an annual tradition, we turn them on our fellow writers. Hah, take that! Â
Some of our Mid-Year switcheroos have been highly contentious. We may have lost a writer or two in the aftermath. Others have been remarkably collegial and full of positive discovery. This one falls more or less in the middle. Only a couple of reviews are notably grumpy. A slightly larger (but still not large) number show evidence of newly awakened fandom. For the most part, we came out with the same favorites we brought with us, though perhaps a little wiser about the music that weâre missing.Â
For this reason, it is harder than ever to identify winners. Thereâs no universally admired album we can call âthis yearâs Heron Oblivion.â Rosali and Winged Wheel each got four votes, as close to a sweep as this year brought. Oren Ambarchiâs Ghosted II notched three. There were lots of lone picsâwhich is fine. More music to check out.Â
As always, weâre breaking the mid-year into three parts. This one covers the front of the alphabet, a second will deal with the back. The third, as always, provides longer lists from participating writers. We hope you enjoy it.Â
Oren Ambarchi / Johan Berthling / Andreas Werliin âGhosted II (Drag City)
youtube
Who recommended it? Bryon Hayes
Did we review it? Yes, Tim Clarke said, âThey cleave closer to the meditative, exploratory grooves of The Necks, laying down intricately detailed and gradually evolving parts⌠Sublime.âÂ
Bill Meyerâs take:
Count me among the Dusted writers who hold this trio in high esteem. Ghosted II strikes so precise a balance of texture, stillness and motion that itâs easy miss how fragile it is; one misplaced note or beat could bring it all down in a second, but the trio sustains each of the albumâs four tracks for ten minutes or thereabouts. While itâs easy to appreciate the tidal flux of Oren Ambarchiâs guitar>>table of boxes>>Lesley speaker signal chain, and Johan Berthlingâs immovable bass presence, if you are about to put this record on the hi-fi for the first time (PLEASE listen in stereo), consider focusing on the infinite mirror effect of Werliinâs percussion. Your third eye will thank you.
Olivia Block â The Mountains Pass (Black Truffle)
Who picked it? Bill Meyer
Did we review it? No
Ray Garratyâs take:
This has actually none of the pretentious stuff you expect to find in a work by somebody who has been dubbed a âmedia artist.â The second part of The Mountains Pass is especially stunning where âf2754â has clearly a Giallo-esque feel to it, fast paced and a tad prog rock-ish. âViolet-Green,â perhaps the best composition on the album, brings in mind those creepy soundtracks, with synths and bells, which we usually hear on bad horror movies. And even when Olivia Block, on the same track, begins to sing, her voice is outlandish enough to think that she was abducted by the aliens.Â
Camera Obscura â Look to the East, Look to the West (Merge)
youtube
Who Picked it? Andrew Forell
Did we review it? Yes, Andrew said, âCampbell writes movingly about memory and friendship. Looking at what was rather than regretting what might have been with an honesty that goes directly to the heart of things.âÂ
Bryonâs take:
This record makes me realize that I should listen to more Camera Obscura. The Glaswegian indie pop group is a delight to take in, especially Tracyanne Campbellâs lovely voice. Look to the East, Look to the West is a comeback album, the bandâs first since they went on hiatus following the death of keyboardist Carey Lander in 2015. The most striking aspect here is the use of pedal steel and organ, which lend the album a country and western flair. This seems to be a new development for Campbell and company, but they pull it off well and the new sounds really suit the band. Similarly effective are the digital drums that the band employ on tracks like âLiberty Print.â Camera Obscura have altered course slightly but retain the loveliness that lies within their core.
Chief Keef â Almighty So 2 (RBC)
youtube
Who nominated it? Patrick Masterson
Did we review it? No.
Jennifer Kellyâs take:
Six years in the making and continually delayedâa fact the artist refers to several times during the run-timeâAlmighty So 2 is massive and ambitious, with operatic hooks and wall-shaking, body-pummeling beats. A mountainous swagger rocks, âGrape Trees,â the cut with Sexyy Red, a machine-gun ratatat thundering under brutal lyrics about gender relations. The politics are embedded in the subject matter, in the screaming sirens, the South Chicago gangland scenarios, the profanity, rage and cynicism. âJesus Skit,â though, gets a little more explicit about it, positing a sliding reparations scheme that depends on skin color; light skinned rappers like Drake and Chance the Rapper lose out big time, while darker ones, like Sosa, get millions. The violence comes in the shattering beats, as in â1,2,3,â a slow-motion eruption. Here the artist sketches the bleak world that made (and continues to make) him, chanting, âI always believed I was gon' get paid/When I got to hustlin' up in sixth grade/You ain't givin' off that nigga, you won't get laid/Sleep for the weak, I been up for six days.â The track, like the rest of Almighty So 2, is gritty and nihilistic and undeniably powerful. So glad I got to hear this, non-expert though I am.
Cindy Lee â Diamond Jubilee (Realistik Studios)
youtube
Who nominated it? Patrick Masterson
Did we review it? Nope (and shame on usâŚ)
Jonathan Shawâs take:
Diamond Jubilee commences with three dazzling songs: the title track, âGlitzâ and âBaby Blue.â Even if the rest of the record werenât so excellent (it is, and at over two hours, thereâs a lot of it), the strength of those three songs would propel it into frequent rotation, on my various devices and in my head, and likely onto the year-end list I will eventually compose. âBaby Blueâ is the crucial track: itâs one of those songs (along with Warren Zevonâs âThe French Inhaler,â Townes Van Zandtâs âFor the Sake of the Songâ and a few others) that is so ruthlessly fine in its execution and so suited to some of the least comfortable angles in the emotional furniture in my head that it requires a kind of commitment to listen to. Beyond that irretrievably subjective response, Diamond Jubilee commits, as well: to gorgeous melody, without entirely smoothing out the sharp edges that distinguished Leeâs Whatâs Tonight to Eternity (2020); to the reverb-saturated aesthetic of fading girl-group harmonies, clubland at 3 am, spangled cocktail dresses of motheaten satin and the pleasures of the last cigarette in the pack when thereâs no money for another; and, it seems, to love, in social conditions that make love nearly as unthinkable as it is completely necessary. The surreal, in its modernist avant-garde iteration, emerged in similarly extreme social conditions, after the slaughter of the Great War and amid fascismâs rise. Those forces were enough to distort human relations into monstrous shapes nigh irrevocable. Leeâs music has strong relations to the dreamlike quality of the surreal, and we have our own terrors now: climateâs awful and furious change, social mediaâs psycho-social poisons and fascism, once again. Those terrorsâ spectral presences are audible all over Diamond Jubilee, but they canât blunt the sharpness of human longing in songs like âAll I Want Is Youâ or âDonât Tell Me Iâm Wrongâ or âGovernment Cheque.â Loveâs intensities may not be sustainable, or even particularly livable, but they wonât be denied. Cindy Lee captures that set of truths with that aforementioned dazzle, and with depth.
DIIV â Frog In Boiling Water (Fantasy)
Who picked it? Tim Clarke
Did we review it? Yes. Tim Clarke said: âDespite the musicâs dense layering and the overall feeling of frustration and confusion, Frog In Boiling Water thankfully leaves the listener with a feeling of hope and eventual redemption.â
Ray Garratyâs take:
If I were given this with no title and artistâs name Iâd say this was written by a no name indie band circa 2016. Itâs the same shoegazy guitars and sweet and melancholy vocals weâve been hearing since when, 1994? The songs like âReflectedâ got things moving but itâs far from boiling temperatures, merely lukewarm. Itâs been written somewhere that the DIIVâs album is about âcoping with capitalism,â yet itâs evident that itâs feeding the same capitalism, giving the fans the same thing over and over. And that is how capitalism works.Â
Nomi Epstein â shades (Another Timbre)
youtube
Who picked it? Christian Carey
Did we write about it? Yes, Christian said, "Epsteinâs music is unfailingly attractive and elegantly paced. Shades is an excellent introduction to her work."
Bill Meyerâs take:Â
Since Nomi Epstein leads the Chicago-based new music ensemble a.pe.ri.od.ic, Iâve had plenty of opportunities to hear her guide performances of other peopleâs music. But shades is only the second album devoted to hers. Its three long pieces are, like the Wandelweiser and minimalist composers that a.pe.ri.od.ic has often supported, sparely arranged and deliberately paced. She puts intriguing sounds â some prepared piano notes, or a barely-there vocal tone â just far enough inside the frameworks of the music to invite one to listen in. Once your consciousness is inside the music, the slow movement of what surrounds you mesmerizes. Music this reserved and respectful is a welcome respite in a world where reality smacks you upside the head every day and even that influencer babbling on the phone belong to the person sitting next to you on the train insists on staring you in the eye.
Fuera de Sektor â Juegos Prohibidos (La Vida Es Un Mus Discos)
Who nominated it? Jonathan Shaw
Did we review it? Yes, Jonathan wrote, âItâs a singular sound, by turns compelling and bewitchingâlike the beautiful face you can just about discern across a dim and crowded room, a set of lines and textures briefly lit up by occasional drags on a cigarette. Not quite (or not just) postpunk, pop or dance music, the songs on Juegos Prohibitos itch at your hips and scratch into your brain.â
Christian Careyâs take:
Barcelona band Fuera de Sektor released a demo in 2022, but Juegos Prohibidos is their first full length recording. No Wave is a significant influence, particularly in the fiercely intense sing-shout vocals from Andrea Jarale. If you visit the bandâs Instagram, it includes an amateur video that is an homage to Richard Hell, replicating a 1970s comic from NY Punk Magazine in which he starred. But there are many more reference points. The guitars channel the chops and soloing of eighties New Wave, and the rhythm section provides relentless uptempo playing. The defiant demeanor of the songs themselves depicts an unstoppable wall of intensity.
Daryl Groetsch â Above the Shore (self-released)
Who picked it? Andrew Forell
Did we review it? Yes, Andrew called it âa 75-minute floating symphony that insinuates its way into your subconscious with almost imperceptible stealth.â
Ian Mathersâ take:
Whether approvingly or not, works like this 75-minute composition/album are often described as if they were very static in nature; as if even when there are changes they happen in rigid, predictable ways. It may be that if you poke around under the hood of Above the Clouds enough you might be able to diagram out the way elements meld, progress, and separate again, and possibly under that light the whole thing looks regular. But in terms of the way it feels when you listen to it, thereâs something quite different going on with Groetschâs work. The whole thing does feel quite immersive, almost environmental. But as opposed to any number of ground-level or even underwater vistas that come to mind with similar works, here I feel suspended in the air, very far above any shore indeed. The listening experience feels akin to endlessly falling, eventually not so much above as through softly glowing clouds. Itâs somehow soothingly vertiginous, and more captivating (and attention-rewarding) than most of its peers.
Icewear Vezzo â Live From the 6 (Quality Control Music)
youtube
Who picked it? Ray Garraty
Did we review it? No.
Patrick Mastersonâs take:
Chivez Smith has been a familiar name to anyone keeping an eye on Detroit rap for the last decade â longer than you might think and long enough, now, to make him an elder statesman among the cityâs spitters. What better time, then, to take a step back and assess not just how far youâve come, but what all that hustling has amounted to? So goes Live From the 6 (not a Drake reference, in case you were momentarily confused; Vezzoâs from 6 Mile on McNichols north of Hamtramck), which isnât quite a career retrospective but carries the themes of one. Vezzoâs in a reflective mood over the course of these 13 songs, his slightly frayed vocals forever unhurried and his beat selection consistently nodding to the high West Coast era; you could put Ice Cube or Snoop (or, for that matter, YG or Nipsey) over most of these productions and it wouldnât throw you off. Itâs not totally insular bars-wise, either; a questionable DaBaby feature aside â his double-time admission that he sees a therapist is heartening given how deservedly he got shunned by the establishment just as he was fixing to peak â Memphis artist YTB Fatt also shows up. Fellow Motor City emcees Babyface Ray and Chuckie CEO provide the remaining color, but end to end, this is Vezzoâs show and he shows up. Thereâs no lack of entry points to Icewear Vezzoâs discography by now, but if you were hesitant before, Live From the 6 is merely the latest display of his acumen. Hear why heâs the one.
Loma â How Will I Live Without A Body? (Sub Pop)
Who picked it? Tim Clarke
Did we review it? Yes, Tim wrote, âYes, this is a heavy album, but luxuriously so. Itâs music that stares death in the face and instead of running, hunkers down and gets comfortable.â
Alex Johnsonâs take:
Listening to How Will I Live Without a Body? is like eavesdropping on a collage of someone elseâs thoughts. Contemplation or confusion or a eureka one moment to the next. Itâs theatrical, passionate music that, to me, shares a heavy sensibility with the operatic post-rock on Portisheadâs Third. Like an unsettling daydream, the lyrics blur the mundane and existential. In âAffinity,â the narrator stares âinto the dark,â finding herself multiplied but disconnected â âmy shadows move/with and without me.â In âI Swallowed a Stone,â aâkettle boil[s] foreverâ and she âcanât live this feeling anymore.â Given the songâs tense, foreboding percussion and muted guitar âcanâtâ sounds like âmight have to.âÂ
Might, but not necessarily will. Despite the doses of dread, How Will I Live Without a Body? never feels resigned. Youâre treated to interjections of sound, instrumental and otherwise â Â flashes of illumination, portals to enter. âUnbraidingâ fits sheets of strings, bird song, and burning punches of guitar fuzz around a simple, repeated piano, illustrating the line âbring somewhere out of nowhere.â Loma is working with a robust sonic palette here, but the albumâs ethos seems grounded in a DIY curiosity. That âBroken Doorbellâ features what sound like actual broken doorbells and then ends with waves hitting a shore is emblematic. Itâs a lovely, if perhaps temporary, moment of arrival, having followed the shadows wherever they led.

So it looks like Liam kept clean until he did the US visa test and then went into a bender.
www thescottishsun co uk/tvandshowbiz/13727992/liam-payne-drugs-supplied-hotel-tests-clean/
"LIAM Payne was plied with drugs supplied by a hotel worker just 24 hours after being told he was clean, cops believe.
Argentine investigators suspect the drugs found in the tragic One Direction starâs Buenos Aires hotel room were sourced in a poverty-stricken neighbourhood 15 miles away.
An address in the city of Lomas de Zamora is said to match up with a man suspected of being involved in supplying the substance, sources say.
Police are investigating two hotel staff in connection with the deals including a cleaner at the CasaSur boutique hotel.
It is believed they hid the drugs in a Dove Soap box which can be seen in pictures inside Liamâs room.
A pal of Liamâs last night told The Sun the star had been given the all-clear on a drugs test last Tuesday - the day before he plunged 45ft to his death from his third-floor balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel.
The pop star had "tried really hard to get clean", the pal claimed before being "preyed upon" by the hotel workers.
They said dad-of-one Liam had entered Argentina on September 30 with the aim of renewing his American visa.
They claim that when Liam spoke to US embassy officials, they queried his previous stints in rehab and said he needed to take a drug test to prove he was clean to have his renewal approved.
They added: âThe embassy said Liam needed to do a strict investigation including X-rays and a blood test to search for traces of drugs.
He was examined by a US Embassy-certified doctor and last Tuesday collected his results, which showed he was clean, the friend said."
Yet again blaming service workers as if they spiked his drink or something. He could have refused.

Breathless Part 1
Part 1
âOh Man! What luck!â I swear landing my leg on a strange looking orb as I pick it up lets my eyes slowly blow up in a bright white like glow. I close my eyes a bit sending my body in to a beautiful blue glow transporting him in to the ball as it hit the floor and it rolls to the edge of the cliff.
Next thing I know I am surrounded by a red gold, silver and slate black painted giant bar I own apparently and soon enough I am behind the bar. I laugh a bit think about what else I can get out of that damn orb now presently placed in the middle of the room causing a major chain of events.
The bar is now a magical place infusing the building to help me with my aims and plans I have had in the back of my mind and truly is everything. I jet on to the bar hopping over the bar on to the bar stool slipping off till I hit the ground running and heading to the main room pick it up and send it flying.
âI wish that could have super fucking pretty hot actors Andrew W Walker and bad ass Luke MacFarlane,â
âWhat the fuck? How the hell on earth?â
âWhere am I? Where are we?â
âI am your Lord and Masterâ
âI am also your boss â
âYou do not work as actors â
âThis is my bar apart of my media â
âYou work here and always have â
âYou are my bartendersâ
âYou stay here all day â
âYou make me millions â
âYou are my employeesâ
âYes bossâ
âPut these aprons onâ
âYes bossâ
âItâs time for your auditionsâ
âStrip for meâ
âGet behind the bar â
âHurry up â
âHop off the barâ
âMake me a drinkâ
âDo it! Do itâ
âCould have been fasterâ
âSorry â
âYou clean my shoes â
âYou lick themâ
âGood job! Your butts need to be in gear, your mind out of the gutter and get to work.â
Part 2
âI need sexy servers and dancersâ
âWho Master?â
âJaime Lomasâ
âAshley Taylor Dawsonâ
âFuck? Who the hell?â
âZip it! Your mind is blankâ
âI am your God!â
âYes bossâ
âYou belong to meâ
âDress in thisâ
âStand on the table â
âStrip â
âOh Master! Babeâ
âDo you crave this body boss?â
âThe groups are packing inâ
âHell Yes! Letâs party my kingâ
âEveryone! Whoâs here?â
âMy name is Jamieâ
âLet me entertain you â
âAshley join himâ
âAs you wishâ
âMy name is Ashley â

âWatch my abs â
âWash board absâ
âMy tight assâ

The end
Breathless Part 2
Tom Hardy and Andrew Garfield are the first  celebrity and honored guest to my new club Breathless a magical island vacation spot for the elite. The two land on a private airline walking off of the planes staircase to the land they take off their sunshades and soon the sunlight is in their faces. The light rays shoots in to his eyes glowing so bright shaking him to his core very soon and enough freaking him one something stirs up in him.
ââââ
The lights surrounding him shine over the majestic forest in the latter half of the island begin to shake with the leaves and branch are free flowing.Mindlessly Tom Hardy is the first to see it in the wind a chill cool air calls to him as his toe dug in propelling his feet ever forward in to the breach.
He steps in to the forest ever forward with any and all worries washing away in his cold and blank mind the deeper he goes the more he loses himself. The forest expands in to the jungle causing him to feel the power pour from underneath his feet yanking him in to the center as his shoes strip.
Ripping in to ribbons below his sole but the entirety of the ground floods flowing a cold embrace sending them shivering up his spine. The more he walks the socks come undone as well, as his face goes slack, his eyes turn dull gray and something in him drives him in to the brinkÂ
The jeans stripping like a reel shitting on to the ground, the area begins spinning as he looks upward to the sky and he falls back to the ground.Apparently! The grounds begins to melt in to the soil growing more covering up the island like quick sand or soon sinks in to the soil of the space.
The soul forms massive arms wrapping over his massive muscular body stretching in to the air and drops down descending till it is grasping his body pulling it down. I am in awe of this gigantic, tall and super titan of a man who will be under my absolute control for yeh rests of my his life no way out.
âTsk tsk tskâ
âYou fell for that so easily â
âSorry Mr. Hardy!â
âI have loved you alwaysâ
âIâve wanted you for so long â
âI can have you finally â
âThis body â
âYummâ
âI can lay on you all day â
âMuscles for daysâ
âLegs for days tooâ
âI could eat you up â
âIâll leg you sink for nowâ
âHear thisâ
âYou belong to me for all existenceâ
âYou are not humanâ
âA mere puppet for meâ
âYou are named slaveâ
âI am everything to you â
âI guide you â
âYou have fallenâ
âYes Masterâ
âMake me your world â
âAccept meâ
ââ-
âAndrew Garfield â
âWho? Who are you?â
âI am your inner voice â
âNo! You canât beâŚthisâ
âCanât be? I knowâ
âMy body is frozen â
âExactly! I am in total control â
âI submerge your soulâ
âYour consciousness is a blank stateâ
âYou subconscious is a open world â
âI walk in to it â
âIt is my own island â
âYou love meâ
âLive for meâ
âI control you â
âYou have no free willâ
âNo loveâ
âI am your Godâ
âYes Masterâ
âYou see the ocean â
âYESâ
âWalk to the beachâ
âStand at the edge â
âTake a leapâ
âPlunge inâ
âDive and dive â
âSwoosh you fell in to oceanâ

I asked you a little while ago about Loma but now as the undisputed fight gets closer I wanted to ask you about Usyk. some people believe that what Usyk has achieved so far is an ATG case in real-time, someone went as far as to say that he's the best boxer since Floyd retired. This conversation was met with "Stop comparing him like he's some Ali" and that was met with "Why? why is it so hard to accept seeing greatness play out in real time!" I know that even Muhammed Ali received criticism during his reign for being compared to Sugar Ray Robinson so this idea of downplaying boxers during their prime isn't new and I feel the same with how Usyk is being seen. What do you think about Usyk? How do you think he compares to Holyfield as a cruiserweight who moved up HW to find success? Have you felt that as you've watched him over the years he's achieved and is currently achieving greatness?
Usyk is unquestionably one of the top fighters of the last decade and (imo) the best cruiserweight ever. Respect to Holyfield, but I think Usyk fought stiffer competition at the weight class. It was just better in the mid-2010s than it was in the 80s. And, to be fair to Holyfield, it was a new division then so it makes sense.
Usyk is one of the best boxers the sport has ever seen and a truly amazing talent. And I believe he will unify the titles at heavyweight.
THAT SAID - Usyk can't compete with Holyfield's resume at heavyweight. Like he might beat Fury twice. He might defend against Joseph Parker, Zhang, and Hrgovic but it's just not the same caliber of opposition. For as "bad" as the 90s were for heavyweight when you compare it to the late 60s/early 70s, it blew the modern field out the water. Holyfield beat Mike Tyson. Post-prison Tyson, to be sure, but still that's Mike Tyson. Holyfield didn't always win but the resume speaks for itself - Larry Holmes, Riddick Bowe, Ray Mercer, Lennox Lewis, Hasim Rahman, John Ruiz, George Foreman, Chris Byrd, etc. Not all world beaters. Not all in their prime. And again, he didn't beat everybody. But that is one hell of a resume that can't be replicated with the current field of heavyweight talent imo. I also think part of the reason the heavyweight titles are even being unified is because the field is so poor atm. It's not fair, but it's one of the tragedies of fighting. Especially at heavyweight.
Still, unifying would be a huge feather in Usyk's cap. I don't think not doing it would take anything away from what he's already accomplished though. He's an ATG, top 100 boxer of all time already imo.

Here is a little bit of World Building~
So, i wanna talk about a little bit of the FanLands i made for the session of Pibe and Zarida! Welcome to LOCAL and LOMAS!
Land of Copper and Lighting:
The planet of Pibe its a very hostile one. The entire globe is made of copper and is surrounded by artificial gaseous clouds that constantly shoot lightning.
The surface of the planet consists of high and large mountains, like the appearance of a canyon with cracks and many caves. The largest mountains reach several kilometers high, even protruding above the clouds, although this phenomenon is rare. Areas that are flatter or more stable to build on are used as cities by the inhabitants of the planets.
The cities are bright metropolises with various markets, cone-shaped buildings of which all seem to have lightning bolts to harness the energy coming from the clouds. In this way, all the cities feed magical generators through a cable that runs throughout the territory. There are about 6 big cities all over the planet, which can be seen illuminated even from space (when the sky is slightly clear).
These cities are inhabited by the "Locals", small creatures in brown robes which also appear to be made of copper. They are approximately 4ft tall and their tunics completely cover their body except for 3 lights that emerge from the darkness of their hoods. It can be theorized that under such clothing there are robots or at least a mixture between something organic and metallic since from time to time their hands peek out from the ends of the tunic, showing in some cases some orange hands or even robotic hands. They all seem to act very erratically and quickly, as if they are always in a hurry. This attitude is quite normal because you can see vehicles going from here to there around the city, everyone seems to be busy with their things and they don't like to waste time. They have their own language that is made up of various clacking, metallic and sparking sounds (Another theory that states that they are robots or similar).
Let's talk, of course, about the elephant in the room. Why does LOCAL have a giant sword that goes through the entire plant? Nobody knows, the "Locals" claim that he has always been there since time immemorial. No one remembers being there before the sword. The legends in various caves, perhaps of creatures that inhabited LOCAL before the "Locals", affirm that before the great sword crossed the sky and the planet, there were no storms. It is not known how or when. Even so, the sword serves two purposes.
The first is that it is a huge dungeon that descends to the center of the metallic planet. A dungeon with many magical enemies and puzzles, a winding path difficult to navigate.
And the second is to be the place where the Denizen of the game lives, Spes The lightning Snake. A colossal snake that shoots lightning and is the cause of storms on the surface. It is a very fierce creature and hostile to anyone who approaches it. For millennia, the Locals have tried to defeat this monster but all failed. As an ornament Spes uses the weapons nailed all over his long body, swords, spears, axes, all kinds of weapons. His teeth are as sharp as swords and so large that they extend for several meters. His mouth is so big that it can swallow an entire house. However, Spes has a very big weakness, he is blind, he does not have any way to locate himself or his opponent. His attacks consist of throwing rays without any type of pattern towards his enemies hoping to hit the target at some point. Legends say that by defeating the Denizen, the lightning will cease and the sky will finally be clear.
Land of Mirors and Sunshines:
Zarida's planet is much quieter than Pibe's. Fortunately for her, she does not have to deal with any type of creature or danger that is on the planet. However, and to Zarida's misfortune, moving around this planet is difficult. There are only two options, either by sea, or by land.
Let's start on land. The terrestrial geography of the planet is mountainous, even more than that of LOCAL. The prairies are scarce and the flat areas are even more so. The only areas where you can walk without having to climb a steep cliff are the cities (we'll get to that) Not to mention that visibility in this whole place is difficult due to the amount of light emitted by the planet itself and the light that is reflected on this planet. It is easy to get lost in a place that is made of mirrors, seeing things where there are none or reflecting elements that seem closer but are really miles away. Despite everything, and to facilitate transportation, on land and in water there are magic mirrors that are capable of teleporting the individual to other parts of the planet, as if they were portals.
The second way to travel is by water. Unlike LOCAL, on this planet there is water, or at least it seems so, since on this planet water is literally invisible. Water covers 75% of the planet, and the rest is just mountains, so this method is quite effective. Thanks to the invisible effect of water, the deepest areas of the ocean can be seen without any problem. Marine life corresponds to only one type of fish that has evolved in different variants and which vary in size but their behavior is the same. Marine life increases in size the deeper you go. The only way to travel through these waters is, obviously, with a boat, which due to the optical effect of the water seems to be flying. Several ships can be seen sailing through the place, some being cruise ships if not other inhabitants that are being transported from one city to another. There are also pirates! But these are not habitats but enemies of the session.
Finally we have the cities. They all appear to be exactly the same and do not vary much other than in size. They are cities built on water, with a circular shape that extends for several kilometers. They are not exactly large, enough to accommodate a large number of inhabitants. Both houses and commercial establishments tend to have a simplistic style like boxes, ah! and you will not find a single bed anywhere, since the planet is illuminated 24/7 nobody has slept in thousands of years.
The inhabitants are known as the "Lomals" and do not differ much from their neighbors on the other planet. They have greenish-blue tunics that cover their entire bodies. Under the hoods, it emits a very strong light that prevents the ability to see any kind of physical characteristics. One would think that they are made of light, but upon a little inspection of their hands when lifting the ends of the robes, a shiny scaly skin can be seen. It could be theorized that they may be a variant of the same fish that lives in the depths of the sea, a variant that grew hands and feet and now lives in cities establishing a trade. This theory increases when we see that their language is made up of bubbling and splashing sounds.
There is no elephant in the room this time. However, we must talk about the "Great Mirror". On the highest mountain of LOMAS, there is the "Great Mirror" which is nothing more than a much bigger, taller and more beautiful mirror that reflects the entrance to a labyrinth that extends throughout the interior of the planet. Surprisingly, the deeper you get into the maze, the darker it gets and the lights do not bounce back illuminating its interior (curious thing because every corner and cave is illuminated, this being the only exception) Inside this labyrinth full of traps, enemies and puzzles, there is nothing more and nothing less than the Denizen of this planet, Malum The Mirror Snake
It is an long creature, like a snake, whose body is covered in crystals all over. It extends several kilometers under the cave in which it lives. Her mirrors are tinted a light pale blue and when you try to see her face, you can only see light and more light. Although around this brilliant flash, they orbit a total of 8 brilliant crystals which it uses to attack its opponents. Unlike his brother Spes, Malum is highly intelligent, playing strategically with his prey and always prefers to attack by bouncing his lightning off walls and catching his targets off guard with surprise attacks. Legends say that if you kill Malum, he will bring darkness to the world and finally the night will come, something that the "Lomals" wish with all their might, since they long to be able to sleep one day. No one has ever been able to face Malum because the labyrinth is extremely complex, dangerous and complicated.
