this isn't exactly a take but the SADDEST part of Hey Jude is when John harmonizes with Paul. I can't not hear all the unspoken pain.

I kind of hope we get versions of Free As A Bird and Real Love with cleaned up John vocals like Now And Then. I don't want to erase those originals because the audio quality tells a story of its own, but Real Love especially suffers so much from it. I listened to it earlier today and nearly got teary. "No need to be alone" kind of gives me goosebumps. There's something so raw and emotional about all three of these songs…

This is almost the opposite of a hottake, but it kind of Doesn't Matter To Me who Now And Then is about. It could be about Paul, it could pretty easily be about Yoko too, and a few people I've seen say they think it's about May, which could be too! It perhaps not being directed at Paul doesn't take away from the song for me, because the song feels bigger than just its direct inspiration.

On that note, I sort of think that sometimes people could stand to.... Die on fewer hills? Like, the notion that Now And Then could be about Yoko doesn't negate John and Paul's relationship or most things people theorize they may have gotten up to. Now And Then Release Week bonus round, cause it's been long enough to talk about it a bit:

Paul (and Ringo and George! they also have a writing credit, guys!) making editorial choices about John's unfinished song with the blessing of his widow is literally fine. "But John might not have approved–" yes, this is how death works. John also might have found the song embarrassing and not wanted it released at all. It wasn't on Double Fantasy after all! Or maybe he would have specifically wanted to remove the same bit! (which I maintain is musically strange and unfitting at worst and at best a still really rough idea that would probably require a lot of work in of itself – echoing the chord progression in the instrumental bit is the best compromise I could imagine)

I actually really get the George girls who were a bit bummed out by the rollout of the song. He DID get the short end in this situation! but… what would have been better? I saw some people say Paul isn't nearly as good a slide guitarist at George. Okay well then… So Paul should've hired a session musician? How does that makes sense? Paul should've asked Dhani to find some random guitar bit George recorded 25 years ago and frankensteined it onto this song? I'm asking this honestly: what should have been done instead? Because… I sort of got the feeling from some of the criticism that the only acceptable solution was to not release this song at all. And TBH I don't think George "getting the short end" is worse than not allowing Paul and Ringo the closure of completing this song. This wasn't perfect but again: yes, this is how death works.

Hello hello, I’m just dying to tell someone about a random laundry list of things that kill me about Paul and Andrew, so I thought to share it:

1. The sincerity in their compliments for each other and interactions, which I trust because they both come across genuinely - especially Andrew, who is not new to the showbiz and has always maintained this sincerity through the years

2. Their heads are often so close to each other. Like less than a head’s width apart. Which means when they’re looking at each other in those photos/interviews, each other’s faces are basically all they see. Kms

3. I loooove how Andrew is the one more comfortable verbally expressing his love (using the literal word) for Paul, understandably - but Paul is more “obvious” during interviews, often not even trying to face the interviewer and straight up turned towards Andrew staring at him. Not to mention leaning in all the time

4. The fact that they really want privacy and space away from the public is really sweet, and it speaks to the longevity of their relationship they plan to have. Dead. Absolutely killed

The way they sit and talk so close to each other, that blue jumper/purple cardigan interview, Paul is almost curled around Andrew. Even at the Baftas, Paul always leans into Andrew and talks to him. It's like no one else in the world exists to them.

Andrew is very comfortable talking about his "feelings" for Paul. The shyness Paul has around him also adds to my tinhatting. Paul blushes so much around him. Paul seems a very confident guy, but Andrew has him giggling like a schoolgirl.

And don't even get me started on two actors wanting to be friends outside of the limelight. They are so important to each other, on whatever level you want to think it is.

Truly I don't think it's anything more than an extra layer laying it on thick that he's her ride or die, ya know? That on her wedding day she'd want him standing next to her, and he for her as well. And maybe weddings are on the mind because he just went to a big one (maybe Finn truly didn't go so Chloe was his date!) and it is a mark of closeness, a lot of people talk about who they'd want as their maid of honor, best lady, best man, etc. For these two, they're clearly besties, and twins, and it's just one more thing to be like boom look how codependent we are but look how sweet that is!! I can't see who the person is peeing on the Walker sign. But I don't think the Amell comparison works here. First, it was J2 joking with Amell about not standing HIM, not his work per se. (The sign said Arrow and Stephen Amell, I know, but the precedent was Stephen Amell himself.) J2 had set a precedent for messing with Amell, and it was never barbed and Amell always reacted hilariously, whereas J2 don't have a precedent joking about hating each other's WORK. Jensen's mean jokes abt not standing Jared were about Jared, not each other's projects or work. (There's of course also the fact that most of the time it was Jensen jokingly dumping on Amell, not J2, and the tinhats ate it up because Jensen pretended to be jealous of Amell's time with Jared. We know now that he was pandering of course. Ugh.) When they peed on Amell's sign, it felt to me (and I think many of us) as their famous joke that SPN was better than any other universe, plus the usual messing with Amell. I think this distinction is important because work is an important factor here. Work is SPN that got canceled because Jared wanted to whereas Jensen didn't really want to stop milking the SPN cow. Work is Walker that Jared was offered but not Jensen. Work is an EP title and a leading role for Jared whereas Jensen is still having to do with guest roles. So when J2 pretended to pee on Amell's sign, it wasn't them out of work or having to settle for guest roles after having worked as partners with Amell for 15 years, and it wasn't them peeing on his show. It "haha famous pranksters to everyone ELSE but each other" J2 messing with Amell himself Also, who is peeing? Is it Jensen? Or someone else? It's bad in both cases of course, but it's worse if it's someone else, because in Amell's case it wasn't someone who works on SPN dissing Amell. It was J2 pulling the pranks themselves. In this case, it's someone from the brewery (so a subordinate of Jensen's) belittling Jared's work. I don't know. I don't think it's comparable to the Amell thing. But of course you could be right. At best, it's petty and in poor taste. But I realize know that you can't really expect anything else from Jensen and his circle. Ugh. So glad Jared is free.

Yeah, there does seem to be some distinct differences in the way each photo is presented. (The Walker photo is just a random person in a historical setting, so no direct involvement from Jensen.)

We don't know who picked the photo decor or when it was added (could have been added before Walker), so I'm not willing to go full out and place direct blame on any one person, but still believe, like a lot of people, it's not the best look while Jared's employed on Walker and Jensen's struggling.

You guys know how interested I am in fashion when it comes to my fics. I’ve done a couple of fashion post about myrah in fcc. But I’m also interested in the fashion transitions both Helaena and Alicent go through as they ease into their new roles as queen consort and queen mother respectively (in fcc).

As stated before, I see Myrah, once she married and officially a mainstay at court, ushering in the Burgundian type of clothing popular in the Vale. A style that was more than likely also worn a lot in KL when Aemma was around. Houppelandes, brocade fabric, elaborate sleeves, and fun headwear like: headbands, ribbon in the hair, barbettes, and different types of hennins. this is also coupled with the style she gets from the different cultures in her life (dornish, Myrish, summer islander). But I think the Vale style would be more of a hit amongst the stuffy court crowd

Now onto how this compares to Helaena and Alicent.

Alicent is dressed like this when we first see her post time jump. There is a slight change in her pre driftmark versus post driftmark fits. Pre - she plays a bit more with her sillouttes, specifically her necklines and sleeves. Post - we get high neck lines, more intricate details. She’s leaning into the established queen and pious figure look.

Imo Alicent not only adopted green as a sign of her loyalties to her home, but green specifically this deep emerald shade, is very mature. Alicent became queen at 15 (viserys and otto you’re going to hell), and becomes the green queen around 17/18. We see her trying to act more grown up bc of it. I think she never transitioned out of that feeling, even as an actual adult. She is a teenage essentially stuck in an adult woman’s body

In reponse to Alicent, ladies at court adopt this style. A more conservative, almost stiff look. Either opting for other mature colors (deep blues, browns, purples etc. lots jewel tones) and or just green as well.

As Alicent takes a more behind the scenes role and transitions into queen mother/grandmother, she changes silhouettes more and even *gasp* plays with prints. Still more rich colors. I think she would even go back to the fun sleeves and capes like before her more conservative looks. She feels less restrained to the color green or the tighter sillouettes bc the thing she feared so much (losing her children) is behind her.

There would be a shift in color palettes and styles as Helaena becomes the new hbic (affectionately). While Alicent wanted to lean into how she is feeling at the moment, creating an air of power/isolation or piety with her styling, I think Helaena would take a different approach.

Her transition into a fashion it girl is a bit more organic (???) than her mother’s. Simply because Helaena is more of a ‘oooh that’s pretty I’m just gonna wear it’ type of person while Alicent wanted to curate a certain image for herself, at least in the beginning for the both of them. Helaena is far more youthful and whimsical. She’s not afraid of showing a bit of skin, and enjoys unique patterns/prints

The top looks are more day to day, while the bottom when she really wants to show up and show out. Helaena by nature is not a flashy person so those moments are few and far between. I don’t mind the dresses she wears in the show, especially the blue coronation one. But something about the lack of visible waistlines reads as matronly to me sometimes. So, I see her trying out shorter bodices. For the most part, she keeps the pastel, and girly colors she likes.

I added the pic we got from on set for s2 bc I think it also works with what I mean about her looking more her age in dresses that arent just straight up and down. The more dimension the better. I don’t see fcc Helaena wearing darker colors like this often tho. Random tinhat but I think in s2 we are going to see Helaena adopt darker colors after ***. A bit contrast to the light ones we see her wearing most of the time.

Anyway, as usual, the court ladies follow suit. Older noble women would not opt for the lower cut dresses, but still follow the light colors and higher waist lines. Younger girls are living for this. As Helaena gets more comfortable, she understands the power in what she does. She gets championed as beloved for her gentle nature in the book. So, I like the idea of as she gets more politically minded she understands how the playfulness of her clothing lends itself to that, and she leans into it.

Somehow that makes sense to these people,I guess??????

Mstoxictea, as we call her, thinks there's this giant conspiracy against Ben and that everyone who posts things about (or she thinks is about) him are paid to destroy his reputation and career. She seems to spend her entire day annoying the fuck out of everyone because she can't accept he's married.

She didn't use to be this bad. But personnal circumstances and another blogger called Gatofisch have pushed her over the edge. Gator came up with a completely deranged narrative where Ben as Dissociative Identity Disorder (multiple personalities) and his wife and her accomplices are using mind control on him. No, I'm not making this up. Since then, Mstoxictea decided to be Ben's savior. Unfortunatly for her, all she's achieved is to annoy the fuck out of everyone and make her mental health worse.
