Sorry random thought but the discussion I see around labru being "yaoified" or "fetishised" bc of the height difference and whatever makes me go like... Kabru is canonically short. It's not bad in itself to depict him as short. He also canonically has soft features and is quite lean. It makes me think people think of shortness + petiteness + transness as inherently emasculating and it says more about them than labru. Kabru isn't even "feminised" most of the time he's depicted with body hair etc. I've SEEN the difference in other fandoms. Feels weird to witness that criticism for this in particular

so much that I could say

I’m gonna start here even though I already posted about this before but I definitely think Mike fell for Davy first and kept it a secret for so long and never intended to do anything about it. Silent pining. Davy would fall hard for Mike but would also try to keep it a secret to not ruin their friendship, eventually tho it would come out that he loves Mike, whether he acts on it or says something or Mike just figures it out (or Micky and Peter try to set them up bc they know they like each other hah).

I talked about date ideas :) so im going to jump into some reasons why i like them paired together

I think they are really well suited for each other bc they tend to be on the same page, like Mike can start saying something and Davy will pick up on it and add to it. like for example in Monkees Race Again when they’re explaining why the engine blew up and Mike says it makes the car lighter and Davy adds “so it goes faster” (Micky does this too! but I like to think Mike and Davy are really good at picking up on little things from each other so they do it more often)

I also love their contrasts with the obvious being British/American (specifically from a southern state cause they got an accent difference going on). Mike’s bit of country twang vs Davy’s broadway type ballad voice. I think they have very complimentary sounding voices and the live on the Johnny Cash show version of Nine Times Blue is my favorite for this reason (the monkees should’ve done more duet/group-type songs rip). 

Their other obvious contrast is their tall guy small guy thing! I’m not usually one for height difference ships but they’ve turned me onto the idea :D I really love the way Davy can just lean his head onto Mike shoulder and Mike can rest his chin on Davy’s head 🥹 Davy is also the perfect height for Mike to just drape his arm over his shoulders. Also I really love how grabby Davy is, he is with all the guys but it’s extra cute when he’s pulling on Mike’s sleeves or hiding behind him because Mike likes being the protector and caretaker of the group, so I think it’s a nice dynamic for them. Also I like to think that because Davy is so grabby he’s probably also a cuddler. I just know he always ends up spooning Mike even if that’s not how they fall asleep.

Random headcanons:

Mike definitely uses romantic nicknames and my favorite one he uses for Davy is “doll” (i know the special nickname used in fics is honeychild and that one is sooo cute too)

This one kinda goes along with Davy being touchy but I know he loveessss wrapping his arms around Mike’s waist either as a hug from behind or just to hold him while standing next to him. He just can’t resist it me too Davy 

Davy obviously has great puppydog eyes bc he’s so pretty and young looking but Mike’s puppydog eyes when he decides to use them are an instant knockout you just can’t say no to him.

This one is nsfw: I do see them as a switch couple but primarily Mike tops bc I think he would feel like there’s more control being in a “dominant” position and also he likes being the provider (a service top). But Davy does get to top occasionally and when he does he puts his all into making Mike come apart under his touch, LOTS of foreplay until Mike is whimpering and even begging 😳

i think collei has an actual canon age right? unless I'm tripping and fanon has solidified so much in everyone's minds. I still haven't read the manhua <3 but iirc people think she's 12-13 there right. maybe she's like 17 rn, i can see anywhere from 14-16 though. idk anything abt her timeline so these are quite literally guesstimates from vibes and they're likely to be wrong. Layla is such a college girlie, she's like 19-20 and sleep deprived (same fr); begging for her to catch a break on behalf of uni students everywhere. I don't have a set age for Faruzan, I can see her anywhere from 30-40, 26 years old minimum (the redesigns people give her where she looks visibly older are so cool <3). Given she was a pretty well known researcher back in her day and since academia is a long and arduous career choice, I think it makes sense; also if she's like way older than Kaveh appearance wise (≥ 10 years) , even if she hadn't gotten trapped for a century, that would be sick af (their dynamic is impeccable and I think a larger age difference makes it better, sweeter, and funnier). Nilou also feels 19-20 years old to me; no real explanation, she just has a young adult vibe, like someone just out of her teenage years but quite capable at managing her life, although still testing out responsibility for major decisions and stuff like that (age solidarity w yun jin)

iirc cyno was already mahamatra or something WHILE tighnari was still in school; thus this makes cynonari EXTREMELY funny if you're a moral purist who ships it and thinks they fell in love in their akademiya days LOL. jkjk it's also a reasonable interpretation that Cyno became mahamatra at an insanely young age, since uhhh fucked up temple of silence background smth smth and honestly it feels in character for him to go buck wild at a young age like that (person most suited for young collei fr). HOWEVER. personally I think being mahamatra at like 19 is insane—thus I think tighnari's probably 23, cyno might be 27? Freminet I'd say is around 16; 14 minimum. Hi, aura!! Sorry, it took a while lol… thank you for your request angel<333 I decided to take Pieck as the reason for Yelena’s jealousy bc they’re polar opposite and I thought that sometimes our tall baby probably thinks that you’d be happier with someone more bubbly and lively than her.

Storyline: Yelena being jealous and insecure after she saw you very close to another girl. The tall blonde woman, usually very confident, start doubting herself.

Lights, flashing lights, again and again, never-ending flashes. Your head felt dizzy, ready to explode as the loud music was at its peak. Maybe you shouldn’t have had so many drinks too.

You tried to look through the crowd of people for your girlfriend, usually very easy to notice because of her height and her androgynous appearance.

Nowhere to be found.

She couldn’t have left you, all alone at this party, no it’s was unthinkable, especially Yelena, you knew how overprotective she was. Maybe something happened to her?

You started panicking a bit, sweat leaving multiple parts of your body, the previous vast room didn’t seem that big anymore and the lights in addition to all the ambient noises made you lose control over your body. Trying to find a way out to breathe deeply outside, you bumped into someone, a black-haired girl with a concerned expression.

« Hey hey!! Are you alright sweetheart? » The young woman said before grabbing your arm and taking you away of the party’s heart, to the corner of the room, close to the door.

« My name’s Pieck, and you? Do you remember it? Did you drink a lot? » She then said, shifting her hands to hold your face, placing her thumbs under your eyes, catching and wiping some of the tears they let go minutes prior.

Your name is the only thing you managed to say, your mind still under Yelena’s spell.

« Okay y/n, my name’s Pieck. Do you have any friends here, someone with you? »

« Yelena… Yelena I don’t know where she is… Very tall… blonde… tall… and… and… » Your eyes started to water again. You usually won’t don’t that at all but this time, you just wanted to go home and have a long and quiet cuddling session with your lover.

« Hey hey calme down okay baby? Come here… » She opened her arms and took you in her tight embrace, one of her hand slowly stroking the back of your head, reassuring you.

Raising your head from the woman’s chest, you finally saw Yelena. Happiness and comfort should’ve been your first feelings but instead, confusion and concern arrived first. Your girlfriend had her eyebrows frowned and a unfamiliar facial expression.

Your drunk brain took some minutes before realising that Yelena was currently looking at her girlfriend in someone else’s arms in a random party.

« Yelena!! » You finally said after some second spent lost in her gaze, removing yourself from Pieck’s embrace. « I thought that something happened to you!! »

« Yeah, you quickly moved on. » Her usual cold gaze wasn’t here; something that started to worry you a lot.

« Yelena this is Pieck, I wasn’t feeling good and I couldn’t find you so she helped me to calm down you know how panicked I can be… »

« Hi Yelena, nice to meet you! »

The tall woman looked at Pieck from head to toe and rolled her eyes.

« Let’s go home. »

You quickly said goodbye to the raven-haired woman and followed Yelena, a dead silent surrounding both of you.

« Where were you ´Lena? »

« Not with another girl if that was you ask. » She was walking quicker than usual, it was already hard to follow her because of her long legs but she was always slowing the pace with you, holding your hand or grabbing your arm. But not this time; the back of her thin silhouette was the only thing you could see of her.

« But baby she was just helping me! I wasn’t feeling very well I really thought I was going to pass out… »You noticed that she slowed down a bit, turning her head to you.

« Yeah. Come in the car. »

The ride felt like it lasted hours, Yelena isn’t the most talkative but this time she didn’t even put her hand on your thighs — something was really wrong—. But you didn’t say anything, knowing that she prefers silence over awkward conversation when she isn’t ready to talk.

Once home, you directly went to bed after a quick wash, not handling your headache,drunk state and your girlfriend’s strange behaving anymore. Feeling another body sliding into the sheets, you turned to her, on your side, placing one of your leg and your head on Yelena, finally hearing her calm heartbeat after this eventful and stressful evening.

« I’m sorry y/n.»

You could feel the guilt in her voice as the not-so-confident blond woman finally talked in an almost inaudible voice.

Zofia's the first to sense that something is wrong. The air between you and Reiner being too tense, avoiding eye contact or talking to each other in general. Only putting up an act whenever one of them talks to you both, as if you're only acting nice to each other in front of them

The next to notice was Falco, it isn't like you two to not sit next to each other or act unaffactionate. He started getting a bit worried when your usual playfulness and lovey dovey sides didn't show at all.

Udo observed how unusually down Reiner seemed, it reminded him of how he'd act in the past before you came, unfocused and out of reach, as if something keeps replaying in a loop in his mind.

People couldn't just fall out of love this fast so...what's wrong?

Gabi didn't notice anything at all actually, she was too invested in her chips bag. Smiling proudly to herself after convincing Falco to buy the spicy hot kind knowing fully well he couldn't handle it, and so he gave it to her.

It wasn't until you and Reiner leave the room, that the other three began talking sharing their theories while she watched. That's when it clicked and now recalling how you too acted, you really do seem strange huh.

Reiner always seemed following you as if he wants to say something, but whenever he'd open his mouth no words would come out. Gabi thought he was acting weird.

It was almost dinner time, you and Reiner went to cook something for the kids before Colts picks them up. Both of you silently deciding to cook together and then resume your game of avoidance.

Your brain keeps bringing back random moments from the argument you two had mere hours ago, some harsh words you said, the way Reiner put a lot space between you whenever you got close.

Things you said, things you've done in anger and frustration.

Sensitive topics Reiner brought up from the grave, saying both of you got really emotional is an underestimation.

Why did it happen in the first place...well, it's because you wanted to help. Help Reiner with the something he's been avoiding facing for a while.

You knew it could go south fast, but goddammit you couldn't just watch the love of your life spiral into a hole of his own making just because he let it fester long enough to swallow him whole.

But one topic followed the other, the main problem forgatton as defensive words and denying facts took over.

The sizzling of the whatever Reiner is cooking on the stove brings you back to reality, it smells good. Goddammit his food always smell good but you can't tell him that because you're still angry.

But isn't anger just hurt sadness who didn't get the comfort it needed?

The atmosphere is uncomfortable, both of you cooking in silence, barely acknowledging the other or talking. Thankful to your brain for being on autopilot while you were cutting vegetables, all your fingers intact.

Reiner steals glances at you from time to time, deep in his own head. He wants to apologise, he truly does but he stops himself each time, instead drowning in guilt as it bubbles up his chest burning his throat.

He scolds himself for getting so defensive, you ment well and you knew that. So what ticked off his brain to go in defence mode?

Maybe it's the way you phrased things that hit an insecurity he had...he knows he isn't good at confronting problems but he's trying and it's just too painful to look at reality as it is.

Well look at where that got him now.

A sigh leaves his lips, you look at him. Both of you staring at each other, unlike the previous frustration and anger your eyes held, now it's filled with...exhaustion and tiredness.

Sadness resurfacing back, regret and guilt following it.

He wonders how'd react if he held your hand right now, would you push him away? Or pull him closer...he takes a deep breath, licking his lips before speaking

"Could you...uh, pass me the salt" was all that managed to come out.

There's that look of disappointment in your eyes, he looks away. Frustrated with himself and the stupid salt shaker.

Neither of you aware to the four pairs of eyes watching your every movement through a crack in the door.

"Wow...they're like robots" Udo says.

From under him, where Zofia's head was "more like Zombies, at least Robots have some form of communication" she said.

Falco was attempting to get closer to the door without opening it, "Do we really have to stand by height? I can barely see anything."

" you think you have it bad?" Gabi was attempting to push their combined weight off, "I'm being crushed by gaints here."

After they retreat, a discussion about how to get you two to talk begins, Gabi suggest locking you in a room together under the threat of violence.

Zofia thinks putting one of you in fatal danger is the key to opening up. Udo wonders if a trip to the hospital from food poisoning will make you two bond more.

Finally, it's Falco who suggests reminding you both about the good times and memories you have with each other.

The other three reluctantly agree to his idea

Tha plan is set to action when dinner is served, they make sure to hog all the chairs so you and Reiner are forced to sit next to each other.

Whatever empty chairs you had left, Udo put his plush toys in and Zofia's limited edition collection dolls. Yeah it did invovle bribing.

So now you're having dinner with four children and four animal plushies and the monkey one keeps giving you weird looks.

Gabi brings up the beach trip that you took them to before, saying how she missed playing volleyball and the beach. You remember Reiner helping you with sunscreen and carrying the sleeping kids back to the car.

Falco talks about how their english teacher is decorating the class for  valentine's day....Oh right it's right around the corner, didn't Reiner bake you a cake last valentine's. It was your favourite flavor, really delicious.

Udo offers to help you with the dishes after. While handing him plates to dry, he tells you how much Reiner talks about you when they text.

"He brings you up whenever something reminds him of you" he says, "he really seems to like talking about you."

...he does, huh.

You look at him, in the living room currently getting his ass kicked by Zofia and Gabi in Mortal Kombat.

Falco seems to tell him something that makes him smile, looking at you after.

And without realising it, you're smiling too.

he drinks up praise like good wine; endlessly and without complaint. who doesn't enjoy being validated? and i don't think there's anything deeper here for mio -- as much as amun pushed him, he also had praise for him, it was not something entirely lacking in his life. and if not from amun, then absolutely from other people -- his mother, friends, random nobles of the court, all manner of visitors...

criticism is usually brushed off. there's nothing that mio hasn't heard before, near enough, so any offense taken is minimal and his acknowledgement even less. the only criticism he would take note of by choice is going to be something from someone whose opinion he values, and the response largely depends on the deliverance of said criticism lol if he's in a tense situation, he's probably going to bite back before he settles down and listens.

20. what attracts them to someone—platonically and/or romantically, anything counts.

when mio first arrived in-campaign, he definitely sought out the people who he couldn't necessarily keep. it was much easier to be a moment in someone else's lifetime than it was to consider commitment, and he still felt validated in the process. more so if they were grumpy or aloof, deliberately putting space between themselves and the rest of the world -- mio enjoyed feeling wanted specifically by these people, because they didn't seem to want anything else.

now, he's feeling more and more estranged by his love of pelor and sehanine than ever, even though it's also driving him to new heights at the same time. it's like the further from the ground he gets, the less he finds in common with those around him. so he finds it attractive when people are driven by the divine, because he knows he can relate to them -- and that's what he wants, a true connection where he's allowed to be vulnerable about things that are soul-deep to him, without the worry of being misunderstood or thought to be a zealot or something. he also finds competence attractive both in friends and partners -- and that's not like, "competence in LIFE" bc who has that bro wtf, it's more someone having a skill they're really good at, it means they're driven by something and it's a draw to him.

aesthetically and romantically, mio can find pretty much anyone attractive tbh there aren't specific features or types he enjoys, and i think he's fallen into the habit of not seeing people as Things like he was. generally he prefers masculine presenting folk, but even then it's kinda hand-wavey.

45. what lies do they tell themselves?

that he's a king, that he's going to be of some importance back home, that there's some glory left waiting for him and his triumphant return -- he knows that ship literally sailed the day he left akhen, but it's a necessary lie that burdens him with just the right amount of duty. otherwise it would be so easy to let his family keep on thinking that he's dead and gone, even if he lives the next ten thousand years watching every rise and fall of that city and his indirect descendants from across the ocean.

i think he also lies about what he wants, and often. sometimes it's to keep other people happy, and sometimes it's because letting people know what he really wants would give them cause to stop him.

off the top of my head, i can't think of anyone other than viktor that he really relates to. and that link is tenuous at best -- kve sees himself as "other" and to a point, believes that viktor is also different, but he's realizing more and more that it's because he's never seen viktor's culture or clan, and not for any other reason. so it's him unlearning his own bias LOL otherwise, by intentional design, kveða does not relate to anyone else in the party on anything other than superficial levels (an understanding of the clans shared with Hyrr, a style of fighting shared with Siggri, a love of drink and conversation shared with Arsen, and an interest in fantastical stories and tattoos shared with Tor, in a way)

which kind of answers the latter half of the question: EVERYONE. but how much of that distance is self imposed? it's hard to say

60. what do they have faith in? what keeps them believing?

god this is such an empty question for kve because he truly feels hollow.

he finds life easy enough to enjoy - there's drinking, there's fighting, there's simple pleasures that fulfil the most basic and fundamental desires of a mortal vessel but it just feels like there's no soul that drives it. it's why he's so keen to find a way out - the longer he stays on this plane, the more he feels he's been carved away from the inside.

he believes he'll find rest if he's gone, basically. but he refuses to do it without honour, or some touch of glory to follow him out.

67. do they consider themselves to be special?

special, no. "other," yes, very much so. it's a hard thing to describe, but it's a kind of dysphoria, in a sense? he's so unlike what everyone else around him seems to be, and his ideal self has been formed by that environment, so of course he feels like he doesn't fit at all.

What's a better way to start the New Year with tickles?

It was during their video discussing their grudges they held onto other members. Since you still weren't fully close with the members you only spoke about Isa and her random cute moments. How there was a time you saw Isa petting your stuffed bear and how she was talking to it. You weren't really upset about it, you were laughing, but it wasn't a big deal. Once you came up to the stand with the cat ears the girls suddenly had a lot to say. The topic was on: sneaky fingers. The girls were constantly annoyed by your pokes and bratty attitude. Today seemed to be worse than usual. Seeun saying how she was tickled while eating breakfast or Sumin getting remarks about her small height. Then Sieun getting tickles backstage making her extra whiny. Yoon got tortured in the car, J getting chased by tickles only for her not to get tickled, Isa getting kisses which results in washing her cheek (it happened thrice before performing). The girls didn't care that it was late, or that in seven hours they needed to wake up for dance practice. They won't give up, they really needed you back. hmm, they both initiated the relationship? ykwim? They both notices they had feelings for each other and just...go from there. they never have like a relationship talk, they just go with the flow until at some point they starts to get comfortable to refer the other as partners. They basically can read each other's mind, after all.

Did they have an official first date? If so, what was it like?

Yes, sort of. A tennis game! And a coffee sesh after, just like canon. They plan this to be just "let's just relax, this case has been really exhausting, take a one day break, L" but when Light got home, sayu asked "how's the date going?!" He immediately said "it's not a date, you watch too many dramas it's rotting your brain" And sachiko gave him a smile while shaking her head at this statement and when he's back to his room he immediately calls L and was like "hey does that count as a date?" and L answers with "depends, do you want it to be?" with a smirk that light can hear.

it was late at night, light was helping L with the case when everybody went home. they were sharing their view about this certain criminal when light notices L staring at his lips, first he ignored it but it happens again and again to a point where their face just got real close and then...kiss, somehow. idk lmao.

Light!! The thing is it was said over the phone. He gets more and more comfortable talking with L through calls, since every now and then L travel frok countries to countries. One time he just like "yeah, safe flight. love you, bye" he expected L to say goodnight to him as a response as usual but L was silent and he realised what he just said and realised that he fucking mean it. L seems to still be able to read his mind even thousands miles away so he replies with "i love you too, goodnight". they never missed seeing each other more than that night.

"me too" "great" and then they go to sleep. at breakfast the next morning L called watari from across the room and said "wammy i need you to prepare [enter marriage stuff here], and light, you must call your family after this". poor old watari chokes on his tea.

👠 - What's the height difference between you and your f/o like?

I've seen two height estimates for him and both of them make him taller than me lmao, I'm about 5'5 (168 cm), and the first estimate I've seen that I like better is that he's 6'5 (198 cm)! That estimate came from a character lineup someone did where they took characters with known heights and used those to estimate everyone else's heights, so it feels pretty solid; I saw someone else's estimate and, idk where they got this number from, but they put him at 7'3 (222 cm), which I think is just a little too tall 😳 Even before I had specific numbers, I still estimated him to be around a foot (30 cm) taller than me, he just seemed. spindly lmaooo, but yes! He's noticeably taller than me!

He doesn't take it well at all U_U He likes habits and routine and sudden changes bother him really badly; even with a heads up, he still gets pretty uncomfortable. Things have to be a certain way for him and he likes being able to have a degree of control over things around him, so he's pretty easy to knock off balance in that respect U_U

So much 😳 as often as he can, he LOVES being able to do things for me; this ranges from cooking for me all the way up the days where he just straight up carries me bridal style from room to room. He's also fond of little "I saw this and it made me think of you" trinkets too, both small and big. It all kinda reaches a peak with how physically affectionate he likes to be, since that doesn't require any preparation like almost everything aforementioned does; he likes being able to get his arms around me and he likes to cling U_U If I wake him up bc I needed to get out of bed for something, he whines U_U

🌵 - How long does it take for your f/o to warm up to new people?

VERY long! He's naturally suspicious and anxious, sometimes even a little paranoid, and doesn't trust very easily. A lot of it stems from his royal guard job, with the very (initial) purpose of his life being to protect his king, but he's also just unfortunately got a few issues with anxiety. He can be a little quick to judge and also tends to assume the worst, so it's a huge challenge for anyone to get to know him U_U

Depends on what kind of day he's having, but usually everything except himself 😔 He takes a lot of pride in the work he does in support of his monarchy, doesn't take any of it lightly even when everyone else does, and wouldn't trade it for the world. Goes without saying that he values me as well, he'll put me before himself in any given scenario, but therein lies the issue 😔 He doesn't really value his own thoughts and opinions and would much rather hand that spotlight to someone he feels deserves it more; it's an issue we've had to discuss before and one I've personally had to work on for a few years, but we're making some progress on it! Same goes for his self destructive tendencies; he's had many issues with his own self worth and pushing himself far too hard, but we're working on all that as well. I've talked about hc'ing him as having adhd a few times here (though he also checks a few boxes for what could be autism too; however I personally have adhd and (probably) not autism, so all the discussion is based entirely off my own experiences 👀), but I've never really talked about the idea of him stimming! It's very subtle, but the clearest way it presents is with his wing beats! He flicks his wings real fast if they happen to be open. Not exactly stimming, but he fidgets with his hands a lot too, so his violin is actually a pretty good fit for him!

A character page for what is, at its core, something of another au for my main, Astor, buttt... it’s basically bc one day I had a random bought of inspiration and followed through on “what if I came up with a deer-like race for XIV” and... then I spent like two hours making lore for them and listening to whitetail deer noises on YouTube. PHYSICAL APPEARANCE ---

Hair: Long, falling down about his mid-shoulders when worn loosely and dark brown. Typically worn with at least one braid, and often pulled back in some sort of fashion. Occasionally braids feathers or flowers into it.

Eyes: A pale crystal blue, almost gray. Often wide, curious, and warm.

Height: 5 fulms, 10 ilms, not accounting for a full grown set of antlers.

Build: Lithe, lean, and long in the legs - all traits rather common among his race. As a fully mature adult, Brooke generally grows in a full antler set featuring an average of 4 points that typically form a generally crescent moon-like shape. The typical adult male Dryad will grow anywhere from 4-6 points, while a female will grow 2-4.

Distinguishing Marks: Much of Brooke is rather... distinguishing, given the rarity of his people to the rest of Eorzea. They are generally a reclusive people, living deep within the woods and mountains from the land, migrating occasionally with the season and food supply, but rarely actually leaving. Given such, it wasn’t until prior to the Calamity that Brooke ventured beyond the bounds of his wooded home deep in the Shroud at the behest of his herd that he came into contact with the outside world. Given the antlers and the fluffy ears and tail, most... didn’t exactly greet him with kindness. He was odd and unlike anyone else most had seen. The Calamity has pushed their survivors from their homes and more into the light, but they’re still a relatively unknown factor. Many regarded him initially with the same judgements and mistrust afforded the beast tribes.

Outside of the physical denotations of his race, the only other marks one might occasionally find that could be helpful are the paints he still tries to find some time to don in honor of his kin and ancestors. Life as an adventurer has taken him further and further from his roots, but no further from his respect for their traditions.

Profession: Brooke initially left his herd, sent by their leader, to act as an emissary to the nation of Gridania in the days leading up to the Calamity. While the details of the time after Cartenau are yet fuzzy to him, he had not intended to abandon his post in the Calamity’s wake. In the world that remains, however, he is unable to ascertain whether any of his herd survived. By lucky chance, he has fallen in with the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, lending his strength and mixed arcane knowledge to their fight for peace.

Main Job: Brooke and his people are something of an enigma by standard definitions of magical practice. They are gifted in a wide variety of arts, and their semi-nomadic nature has brought them into contact with various remnants of ages past. In Brooke’s case, the closest standard classification may be Red Magic, as he possesses an affinity with a wide variety of skills typically associated with both White and Black Magic, though, unlike the duelists of the Red, Brooke still prefers to focus his energies through a staff or scepter than a blade.

Hobbies: Gathering is more a standard survival skill of his people than a hobby, so he would hesitate to classify his botanical knowledge and pursuits as such. Instead, he would much prefer to count his reading as his favorite one - particularly into history and prevalent folklore and tales. In his role as emissary, he sought understanding between his people and those sharing the Twelveswood with them, even if they had been doing so unwittingly. Thus, it was only natural he needed to seek an understanding of their customs as well as shed some light on his own. He finds the telling of history and belief systems fascinating, marveling at the many differences and nuances to be found within them.

Languages: Though Brooke possesses the Echo, he still struggles with languages, at times. He has steadily grasped a more firm understanding of the Eorzean Common Tongue, but it would not be wrong to say his Echo granted him a better understanding of the language and intentions of creatures, beasts, and elements than any language of man.

Residence: At times, it is still difficult to feel settled among civilization, but his efforts and work with the Scions have afforded him the security of a small residence within the protection of Gridania. At least the more seasoned adventurers aren’t so prone to gawping at his unusual appearance.

Birthplace: His herd lived somewhere deep within the Twelveswood. After the destruction reigned down by Bahamut though, he has found more malms of it unfamiliar to him than ever, and he cannot even be certain they survived - much less that their home may have.

Religion: Dryads believe in something one might call spirts, more than any gods. They revere natural elements such as wind, water, and earth and pay a deep respect to the balance of these things. Taking more than one needs and reckless destruction are considered sacrilegious to them. They host celebrations for each season, each having a representative and associated elemental spirits of focus - the closest one might find to a pantheon of gods in their beliefs. This is something he has held fast to even in the face of their many adventures.

Curious, warm, and soft-spoken, Brooke has a quiet love for life that some might find a little naïve. He’s a deeply passionate individual that does not often find a reason to hide the way he feels. He believes strongly in such things as the beauty of a star-dappled sky or a color-changing sunset. He feels strongly about preserving the ways of his people, finding a nostalgic familiarity in them as he uncovers the world beyond the wood. It has been daunting, at times.

But curiosity has kept spurring him forward. Seeing marvels like airships and linkpearls up close are strange, sometimes terrifying, but incredible experiences.

He endeavors to remain honest to himself and true to his beliefs. He does not believe in turning others away over superficial differences. If one is in need, that should be enough. Where they are from or what creed they follow should not restrict them from aid. It might make him something of an idealist, but if it is foolish to believe in and want such things, then he would gladly be a fool. He tries his best to remain willing to learn, and finds joy in understanding and sharing. He’d gladly listen to someone tell stories for hours, if it would make them happy.

Born and raised with his herd in the secluded depths of the Twelveswood, Brooke thought and new little of the world beyond the wooded reaches of their herd until he was well along to becoming a young adult. In the brewing chaos of looming calamity, their leader bid him go forth to their neighbors of the wood in Gridania in an attempt to reach an understanding and mutual aid. Such levels of destruction would doom them all, regardless, and she bid them not remain idle and wait for the coming darkness.

The troubling times would provide their own draws and setbacks to opening a dialogue with the Gridanians and their Seedseers, but, ultimately, Brooke would succeed in at least opening these discussions, revealing the Dryads’ presence within Eorzea with certainty and agreeing to aid in the developing struggles against the Garlean Empire.

What, exactly, followed is, as many others have described, something of a blur. The only certainty of the matter was that it left the young Dryad stranded alone in a wholly new and twisted realm that was all just... a bit funny. Familiar in ways... Entirely not in others.

He may just have ran afoul of a little cult. Y’know. Nothing major. Definitely not a voidsent interested in aether. Definitely not his. Or... perhaps he did. And perhaps he’s quite lucky he met an adventurer not keen on letting cultists lurk about in underground tombs or let unsuspecting strangers get turned into voidsent treats. Quite lucky, that! But... all’s well that ends well, right..?

With a little to be desired for a solid sense of direction and purpose, Brooke found himself once again woven into a greater tapestry of fate than he could have ever predicted. There were, thankfully, a few... passingly familiar faces along the way, it seemed, but still little in the way of ascertaining the fate of those he had left behind, grown up with.

But there was still their hope - hope for a better future, for a way forward, the dawn of another day they could enjoy and share with their loved ones. That had always been worth fighting for, so fight for it, he would.
