okey am curious miss raven, but what do you think about vil's uncharacteristic "KYAA" screaming from chapters 6 and 7 bc i was torn between concern and laughter

The context, for those who aren't aware: Vil happily squeals at the end of book 6 after Malleus restores his youth. Then, in book 7, Vil screams in terror as he falls from the sky (courtesy of Silver's UM). So we get to see what Vil's like when he's genuinely super excited as well as what he's like when he's afraid of something quite mundane.

I’m personally not a fan of Vil (I do not like celebrity characters), but I liked that we got a glimpse of his vulnerable side. It's such a contrast to how cool and put-together he usually is for the public and lets us know that he, too, is human.

In a way, that's sort of sad... Because of Vil's career as a child star, he has to maintain his image and be composed in all that he does. He has to be guarded to keep up with the pressure of the entertainment industry and act a certain way to keep up with the expectations of the public and his peers, who are constantly judging him. And now that the media has branded him as this mature, wicked beauty, it's hard for him to really be seen as something different. Someone gallant, like the heroes he wishes he could play. Someone cute and innocent-looking, like his long-time rival Neige. In the end, Vil is stuck with his assigned role and can't really deviate from it or risk harm to his reputation, since his audience might perceive that as a "mismatch". The regular Vil always gives off these powerful vibes, creating the impression that you're beneath him, that he's untouchable. But what his "kyaaa"-ing shows us is that he's a regular person too. He can be unbearably happy. He can be fearful and experience motion sickness. This is the Vil behind the lights, the cameras, the makeup. The Vil that he wishes others would see and give a chance to, rather than the villain they want to see.

... Anyway, that was a lot of words for me to say “I thought it was cute and very different from the usual Vil!” 🤡

T's Top Three Favorite Nico Hischier Lore Drops:

Nico Hischier did not have his New Jersey driver's license his first couple of seasons playing on the New Jersey Devils. - Nico got his Nova Scotia driver's permit while living with a billet family in Halifax when he played for the Mooseheads from 2016-2017, and got his license in Switzerland in the summer of 2017, but he didn't have his New Jersey driver's license his rookie season. You know who else didn't have their license? Jesper Bratt. So Nico and Jesp used to go to the rink every day with Pavel Zacha (Pav) and Blake Coleman (Pickles). They would drive these two to and from the rink every day. Nico and Jesp were relegated to the back seat which they would refer to as "the couch". This carpooling also gave us some of my favorite Nico videos of him playing Swiss rap in the car and annoying the shit out of his teammates. Nico did not get his New Jersey license until early 2019 if anyone is wondering.

Nico Hischier is always late. - so I don't know if this is still true, but one of Nico's biggest things that his teammates would chirp him about during his early seasons was how often he was late. If they're going somewhere or meeting up, he's always the last one to show up. Its nothing egregious, just five minutes late here and there. This has a lot to do with the fact that he is not a morning person whatsoever, so when he'd be meeting up with someone to go to practice or something he's usually late because it takes him a bit to get up in the morning. There's a story from his rookie season where some of the guys started doing special fines for Nico when he was late and he'd have to hand whoever he left waiting like five bucks each. I don't know if this still holds true. I bet his Captainly instincts have kicked in by now.

If Nico Hischier didn't follow through with his hockey career, he would have finished school and continued onto university. - In an interview with his brother early on in his career when he was asked what he would have done if he didn't have hockey, Nico said he would have finished his schooling and gone to university. His favorite/best subjects in school were the languages. And if he wasn't a hockey player he said he would maybe be a teacher. When Nico was out for about a month last season due to his injury, he got into the Roman Empire and history documentaries/history in general due to the "How often do men think about the Roman Empire" meme. He also has a soft spot for history related shows with Peaky Blinders and Vikings Valhalla being some of his television choices. I just love the idea of nerd adjacent Nico. He's talked a lot about wanting to always be learning and I haven't been able to get post-hockey Nico returning to school. And now that we've learned that he likes to talk philosophy with his mother!

Honorable Mention: Nico Hischier and Jack Hughes and their pre-game three hour naps when they were road roomies Jack's rookie year.

I am not asking this in a "Do what you want forever" way I am already doing what I want forever. But anyways. I had a friend say it was "deranged" that I just sleep in a sleeping bag on my bed when I mentioned I do this. I have no other bedding besides a couple pillows. I do this because it's extremely warm and comfy and I don't have to make my bed or get tangled in sheets and I also HATE how sheets feel across the board, never found a set that was actually comfy. So, sleeping bag fixes all of these issues. I accept that it's odd, but is this actually offputtingly bizarre behavior?

Work shopping some ideas for a knife that's a gift from Hermes, do you guys think it should be unstealable, as it is a gift meant for a particular person and given from the god of thieves who could totally enchant something to be impossible to nab one way or another (after all, he did give it up because he was especially fond of this one specific person), or should it be loyal to whoever manages to steal it, as it is a gift from the god of thieves and he tends to, yknow, promote thievery, maybe an added drawback here that it can't be given to another person willingly, it will stay with you unless someone steals it, it HAS to be STOLEN to leave your side, even if you don't want it

hello hope you are doing well! I had a scenario question but would love any information ❤️❤️

If you suddenly woke up in Twisted Wonderland and had to face Azul, what strategies would you use to win against him? How do you think someone can manipulate or defeat him? I’m curious about how we saw it happen in Chapter 3, but I’m wondering what other weaknesses he might have.

Realistically, I feel like there's only 3 ways the average person ("average" meaning assuming average skills/talents and intelligence; no magic) could "beat" Azul at his own game:

Know smart or powerful people who can help you find loopholes and/or to lend you a hand in executing a plan. This is essentially what happened in book 3; Yuu gets advice from Malleus that helps them realize the true nature of the contracts, then recruits Savanaclaw to help them pull off their heist. Without the support of Malleus and Leona, it's highly unlikely Yuu and co. could have come out victorious or successfully manipulated Azul's actions as they did.

Don't entertain Azul or make a deal with him in the first place. This is what Leona recommends doing in book 3. It follows very simple but effective logic. If you never get involved with Azul, then he can't exactly take advantage of you, now can he?

Weaponize information against him. I don't think this would be feasible for someone who just got isekai'd to another world and is still trying to get their bearings on it. However, I do feel like Azul isn't the type of obstacle you can brute force; you'd have to take your time and gather data on what his weak points are in order to gain leverage over him. We sort of see Yuu and Jack attempt this in book 3; they follow Azul around to try and see where he struggles but he appears to be perfect in all of his classes. You'd probably have to dig even deeper than his high school career. For example, if you were somehow able to dig up dirt on Azul that he doesn't want to let out (such as his experience of being bullied as a child), you could open up the route of negotiations. As it currently stands, you don't have anything to bargain with besides Ramshackle Dorm.

If it were me in Yuu's shoes, I'd probably avoid making a deal to begin with (I'm very risk-averse www). If I do have to make the deal, I'll prioritize information warfare (blackmail is okay sometimes/j). My absolutely last resort would be to such up my pride and phone a friend for help. That's... kind of the same order Yuu goes in canon anyway, no?
