so
i wanted to make a low effort comic thing with just a generic furry character duo
but, i wanted a twist:
these guys are "open source"/public domain.
make your own drawings with them, make your own comics to be canon to the actual series, literally do whatever.
the limit is your imagination
your art skills could be barebones, and you can still do stuff with them, go nuts
just use the tag associated with the two and like tag me or whatever so that i can see it
ALSO @ bedsharing IS MY DISCORD TAG
NOT MY TUMBLR THING WHOOPS

In celebration of steamboat Willie coming into public domain, I made some totally original characters: Will and Petey!
Will is the captain of the S.S WILLIE (he named it after himself)! He’s pretty infamous for being petty, grumpy, and generally rude to almost everyone that he meets. He also has barely any social whatsoever, other than talking to his brother.
Petey on the other hand is the newest (and only other) crew mate! He loves his job and takes it very seriously, so much so that it usually gets him into a bunch of trouble (and Will has to get him out of it)
What kinda trouble you may ask?
Oh, you know… just your usual.
Sea monsters.
Pirates.
Angry customers.

saw that my old mickeysona was getting notes again, so here's an updated version! more of an oc now hehe.
not sure on the name, i'm torn between mickey, mitchie, and mars. also torn between color palettes! feel free to comment which name and palette you like the most :]
as for lore: this lil guy lives in an alternate universe where he is the lead singer and songwriter of an emo/rock band (oswald and julius are members too!) that's still very underground and struggling to hit the big-time.
he is usually very kind and daydream-y, he saves his gremlin side for the stage. unsure of voice hc, will keep you posted. he is dating minnie, who is a loyal fan who goes to every show. maybe she joins the band at some point!

[ID: Banner for a site called Landofelcarim.com which is in a white font with pink outline and shadow. its on top of a map of some sorts with only the marking "Wonderland" visible. To the left is an image of a girl with long hair with large anime-like eyes and a skull on her hairband END ID]
Alright, the moment has happened where I move my series formerly known as the Fictodim series to its own website, Landofelcarim.com where it will be known under that name, Land of Elcarim.
Land of Elcarim is a meta-narrative about a universe filled with familiar and not so familiar characters and the lives they live and the struggles that come with so many unique personalities being in one world. Queen Lola rules a portion of these lands, Wonderland with a soft and gentle touch but is bored by the bureaucracy of it all as she has to figure out who she is and also stop factions from destroying the world.
Prior stories have to be adjusted and edited to fit the narrative I'm building but so far Queen Lola's Boredom is up on the site.
Read, comment and share to your hearts content. The other two stories will follow suit and then I will kick it into high gear and add new stories as they move from my brain to the page.

MONGRELTOWN MISCHIEF: NEW REDESIGNS & SOME STORY INFO
as much as i love my initial designs of the rat & rabbit duo, i had to scrap them because they ended up not really matching the vibe of the setting i came up with.
so here are the new ones! plus there's a cat fella now, but as you can see, it's Julius, not Pete! don't worry, soon you'll see him too.
now, i've been working on the actual story of MM, and here's what i have so far. warning for very brief mentions of death, drowning, and criminal stuff, i guess.
Willie and Julius make up the crew of a steamboat named "Iron Will". Julius is the captain, he's in charge of navigation, keeping track of the resources, paperwork and other important stuff. He might come off as rude and harsh, even overbearing at times, but it's only because he takes his job very seriously and just generally has a lot of things to be worried about. Julius is very responsible, and he's got a kind heart and a great sense of humor.
Willie is a deckhand, pretty much doing the dirty work. They're a cheerful, rambunctious scamp, who's clearly hiding some inner turmoil behind their silly jokes and crazy antics. Often described by others as childish and reckless, it has a hard time keeping up with society's demands and expectations. (hey, Willie's canonically autistic, if you're wondering. he just like me fr.)
Willie and Julius rarely, if ever, get along. But despite their constant banter and bickering, they try their best to look out for each other. They both detest their job and the man they work for. Who is none other than the ruthless and fearsome crime lord Pete Bullet, boss of the local mafia. Aside from various cargo transportation, he often tasks them with disposing of evidence or carrying out executions. So the actual plot of the story basically starts with the Iron Will's crew having to kill a guy. You know, tie him to some concrete blocks and let him go for a swim. The issue is, they CAN'T do that. Because that guy turns out to be Willie's long lost brother Lucky! Thus, start the glorious misadventures of our critters, as they decide to claim the boat for themselves and try to escape the wrath of the mob.

Why?
I mean seriously, if you have access to such an iconic figure in cinema, arguably the first proper character to be animated and have a personality, why make only horror movies and gore fests with it?
It's the low hanging fruit, also it's really funny to me how these movies were ready to drop the moment Mickey Mouse was about to enter public domain. This means these movies were made several months in advance. I'm sure there's an argument for a lawsuit in there somewhere.
How about this for an idea? Mickey Mouse escapes his drawing prison and goes to see the situation with cinema these days. He sees how terrible everything is, and decides to go back to his drawings, because nothing brings him comfort like the past...not realizing he's doing exactly what so many creatives do with their movies. Bam! Actual mature themes touched, and you didn't need to splatter them in blood to achieve so.
