Not The Psylock You're Thinking Of (Psyduck TF)

Scribbled a quickie up for Pokemon Day of my friend SomeToon's character, Warlock! What started as some joking around about what type of Pokemon certain OCs would be quickly produced this, as his go-to villain of the week was turned into a debatably more intimidating Psyduck (it does include the Psychic Powers package after all). So yeah, just kind of a fun exercise/warmup!!! Toon's not even that into Pokemon, I just like his birds!!!

Misty vs. Marina Rewrite

On a lark, I decided I wanted to rewrite that Marina fight to try and make it work better.

Round 1: Goldeen vs. Tentacruel

Tentacruel uses Wrap but misses. (Good opener, I agree.)

Goldeen uses Agility, then follows up with turn advantage for Horn Attack. Horn Attack hits, dealing a small amount of damage. (Also good, but I'd prefer to let the move land rather than interrupt it.)

Misty gloats about her Goldeen.

Tentacruel uses their second turn to fire off Hydro Pump, OHKOing Goldeen. (Scrap the Poison Sting; Much too weak for a oneshot KO.)

Misty is shocked. Ash is confused. Wasn't that a Water move? Marina gets on her catty jerk horse and berates Misty. With the difference in power between her fully evolved Pokemon and Misty's base form Pokemon, the Type resistance barely even matters. And you call yourself a Water Pokemon Trainer!

Round 2: Staryu vs. Tentacruel

Dramatic action scene where they both use Moves at once. Tentacruel goes for another Hydro Pump, but Staryu uses Minimize and vanishes, skirting around the blast.

Marina and Tentacruel look around confused, trying to figure out where Staryu went, while Misty stands there smug and self-satisfied.

Misty calls out Thunderbolt. The bolt fires off from the tiny Staryu, electrocuting Tentacruel for the KO.

Misty gloats about coverage Moves like in the episode as written. Staryu's Thunderbolt means this match is in the bag.

Round 3: Staryu vs. Psyduck

Misty goes to call for another Thunderbolt but before she can do that, Marina calls for Disable. Misty is shocked and loses her trump card.

From here, Psyduck uses Swift to pummel Staryu despite being Minimized. Misty's forced to withdraw Staryu and Psyduck takes the win.

Round 4: Golduck vs. Psyduck

Team Rocket's interruption happens here, of course.

But when we come back to the match, Marina acknowledges that she's seen what Golduck can do, and her Psyduck wouldn't stand a chance. (She formally concedes this round, rather than it just being skipped over entirely.)

Round 5: Golduck vs. Starmie

Knowing what's about to come, Marina has Starmie use Reflect.

Golduck uses Hyper Beam, punching through Starmie's Reflect for massive damage. (Basically the same, but we cut the Bubblebeam and use the correct defensive move for blocking a Normal attack.)

Look I love Golduck, but I have TWO problems with it. ONE-its name makes no sense as...its NOT gold, if anything it was gold in its PREVIOUS evolution of Psyduck/Koduck. TWO-

-we are being VERY generous calling this plucky little gremlin a duck still. That is not a duck, that is a FULL ON dinosaur, that's the god damn Creature from the Loop Lagoon, THIS...is BARELY a DUCK! GOOD DAY SIR!
