been scribbling out some little comics for my EoW!Zelda Impersonates Link AU!
#echoes of wisdom#the legend of zelda#princess zelda#zelda#loz eow#loz#josh art tag#This one is based around the idea that Zelda never actually met Link properly#and thus impersonating him is trial and error#but also that the situation emphasizes the tragedy of what happened#that Link (presumably) went on a whole quest to save her#and yet she knows nothing about this wonderful hero that she now has taken the place of#also this comic (and possible future ones) are indeed slightly born of me wanting to show people that my AU isnt just#“make zelda link”#cuz some people dont see my vision. which is fine!! how are they supposed to know?#but a couple people are like “well doesn't this defeat the purpose of having protag zelda in the first place? :/”#but no that is not what this is about!#In my vision for how this au would play out it would still be very different than playing as link#like sure she looks like link but princess zelda isnt just some girl in a dress you know#So the fact that she is indeed actually impersonating link isnt just like a backstory or anything#its something that is constantly relevant#in my eyes of how such a story would go#wait i need a tag for this au now uhhhh#imposter!zelda au#<- maybe that'll do???#maybe its too among us-y#if u have suggestions pls share

The thing w Slater when I put him in AUs/situations is like. Similar to the way the player in PMD EOS is written- when it comes down to it, the PMD Partner is the real chosen one. It just so happened the player is the one with the plot device.

My brain keeps trying to poke at a Blood+/My Hero Academia crossover and I’m like? The fuck would that accomplish? I already got like 3 different cannibalism aus. I just fucking put up a spur of the moment weredragon/zodiac shapeshifter au. And I already have an au with vampire related stuff with some crossover components with a horror series (does crossing Dorohedoro into the My Hero universe make sense? No. But I’mma have fun with my murder puppies.).
Why would I need to have this au???
On the other hand... I could do worldbuilding to make the Blood+ vampires make a little more sense. All the vampire au fanfic for My Hero stuff is boring as hell. I would kill off Inko or make her a bad parent or make her completely absent from the narrative b/c I’m not an uncreative misogynist. And I could have another au where I give Inko a cool monster spouse

pro tip: make your other OCs so so so so stupid and gullible and have very perfectly designed weak points to exploit with big glowing neon arrows pointing to them. So that you can show how evil gaslight gatekeep girlboss your villain OC is bc their schemes always bamboozle and devastate the other OCs every time 👌
the problem with having an evil mastermind manipulator oc is that i am not particularly good at being any of those things
#Literally Dr Blake and scp Tommy not even joking#actual advice: you do have to pair up villains and heroes very carefully#Where one villain’s strat would run circles around one protag another might have different experience and abilities that make them useless#So a villain that is manipulative and escalates everything is very effective against a character with anxiety/insecurities thatre exploitab#Causing the hero to catastrophize into a despair spiral with well placed manipulations#(Aforementioned Dr Blake and my man toms. She sees only the bad in him and forces him to see the same)#buuuut. Some heroes might be level headed/clever/emotionally stable where they don’t tolerate baddie bs#Like Phil would just murder Dr. Blake and move on. So he needs a different antangonist#Say one that can twist a character’s good traits into weaknesses like Webb does#Force a patient analytical character into acting only when it’s too late. Or turning loyalties into liabilities. Stability to be stagnation#Minimizing/downplaying/gaslighting so that the hero doesn’t act in time or think there isn’t enough of a threat#it really does come down to pairing villains up to be in a position to uniquely be a challenge for other characters#fault analysis#fault au#writing advice#writeblr#writblr#something to nom on

(hilariously, these are both fandoms where I read copious quantities of fanfic before I even considered engaging with canon)
#my hero academia#boko no hero academia#wormblr#MHA#bnha#worm web serial#was thinking abt that post complaining abt why all the worm fic is Taylor alt!powers#even tho canon provides a million blank spaces for fics to fill out#which honestly valid complaint#when I get finally around to reading and finishing worm this will probably piss me off too#however my two great loves in fanfic are 30k+ fics where#a) we change something abt the protag and see how that change butterflies thru canon#(via for-the-want-of-a-nail or via “everything is the same except this one part of protag’s life AUs)#and b) outsider POVs that show what the protag looks like to normal people#including crossovers#so the glut of altpower!Taylors and post-GM crossovers in the worm fandom are actually net positives for me specifically
