I love the asks about the pack with kids (this is not a pregnancy fic!!!) but especially the one about the guys being the fun uncles and how Simon doesn’t know how to deal with kids

In my head he reminds me of when I was little and went to camp and there was always one male counselor who would just be kind of like 🧍‍♂️and all the kids loved him. We were so annoying about it too, trying to climb him or drawing on his arms or hiding his silverware at meals. He’d put up a bit of a fight but looking back it definitely was for show and he was so tolerant of us. Anyways I feel like that would be Simon, big, scary, covered in hello kitty bandaids and concentrating on tying a friendship bracelet

Oh 100% and the especially well behaved kids get to color his tattoos 😂 there was a church camp I'd go to every summer and there was a counselor from another church that was like that. Big, tough, very intimidating but so one of the boys 😂 he really was sweet but he didn't know how to not be intimidating. He'd always go out in the canoe and save the kayakers that flipped lmao

Backstory: Mix was born into a dangerous time and place, his family was noble but known to dissent from the more strong families. He had been on an excursion on his own - Mix always liked to be alone - when it happened, and he came back to his home burned down and being cleaned up by neighbors who explained what happened. From that moment on there was no more turmoil between nobles of the area, as the rest fell terrified in line, so Mix decided to just leave. Nowhere safe or good for him there anymore.

He packed up some necessities and walked aimlessly from town to town, killing time in taverns but never finding one he wanted to stay at. Eventually he found a very relaxed town nestled between coast and woods, where he met Turgi first. They hit it off right away, sharing many interests in combat styles and loving to hear each other's foreign ideas. They became inseparable, just the two of them until their group grew.

Goals: Mix is an attack dog in human form. He will fiercely protect his loved ones, and if it's too late he will take revenge.

He's also very sweet. He works to cultivate a caring and loving environment within his close circle, so in order to balance these two things his brain works in a very friend or foe kind of way 🤔

- Modern AU Mix would probably be a chef or a dishwasher. Whatever he does he works in a kitchen ♥️

- Mix wishes he was more powerful - he is plenty effective but he'd like to be *really* powerful - and it bothers him, but he hasn't consciously accepted this yet. Thank devil he has Turgi to clean up the scraps between his goals and his ability. But he'd probably make a deal with Raphael if it meant being able to protect his friends even better 😳 Since he doesn't really acknowledge this about himself he would certainly never admit it!

Mix is also oblivious of people and their intentions unless they're in his pack and he knows them *well*. Again he is not good at acknowledging this and Turgi must protect him smh.

- Feral boy would hold his wine glass differently every time. Maybe by the rim sometimes to be honest.... Drinking it like a hot coffee 😂

- Mix doesn't really consider lying day to day but will if it's part of trying to lure someone in his crosshairs into a trap.

- He as a jewelry collection, mostly full of sharp edges. He likes to play with the spikes and use them against his skin to stim, especially when he needs to bite his tongue as he watches Sasli make what he deems to be bad decisions, or anyone treat her as anything but a queen.

He also has a small thumb piano that Turgi got him so he can try to jam with her, but he's usually too nervous to try since he doesn't consider himself musically inclined. But he wears it on a hook around his waistband so he's always ready, should the confidence emerge. Turgi and Sasli decorated it with geometric patterns using paint.

- likes scotch and rye, particularly smokey and dry. With nothing but one large piece of ice. Without alcohol, he likes hot chocolate, thick and spicy, with marshmallows.

How does the crew feel about baths? 1 being “ew never. medieval filth cauldron” and 10 being “I’m not getting out until the water is tepid and I look like a prune”

Well, the most common way for people to bathe in Blest is still by using baths (and the Shepherds' compound even features really big, Roman-style communal baths), so anyone eschewing baths on the basis of them being medieval filth cauldrons are likely filthy themselves! 😂 Showers do exist, but aren't as common, and the Shepherds' compound doesn't have them because it's an older building!

Anyway, to answer your question:

Blade: indifferent/neutral, they're just a means to an ends for him! actually would enjoy baths if he would allow himself to sit in one for any longer than was strictly necessary and perfunctory. He is very clean and fastidious about his hygiene, he just doesn't sit in them to ✨ relax ✨ and would have more positive feelings towards them if he did

Trouble: prefers showers for sure, he hates sitting in baths getting pruny and tends to take pretty fast ones, all while scrubbing his face really chaotically like in that distinct way some men just

Tallys: enjoys baths on like an 8/10 scale, she's not like OBSESSED but she definitely enjoys soaking her aching muscles and just sitting and relaxing, especially after a long hot day at the archery range!

Shery: likes baths a decent amount, like a 7/10? Sometimes she likes to wrap her hair in a towel and bring a book and just sit and relax, but it's not typically something she's really looking forward to throughout the day (that's usually a cup of tea or a good book)!

Riel: indifferent/neutral, baths are necessary because he must be CLEAN but it's not like he's sitting there genuinely enjoying the experience, he either gets it over with in a businesslike but seemly and dignified way, or it just affords him the opportunity to sit there in the hot water and think furiously about stuff until he gets dehydrated

Chase: indifferent/neutral, you can peak his interest more if the promise or potential of a partner/sex is involved...

Red: he really enjoys baths, probably the same amount or even a bit more than Tallys (8 or 9/10) - it's where he gets a lot of his best thinking done XD He can often sit in there for hours, gazing up at the ceiling and just thinking!

Ayla: naw, the sensation of just sitting in hot liquid feels kind of weird to her, like she's getting slowly cooked like a braised pig, so she's typically in and out as fast as possible! She actually prefers more tepid or cool water to really hot!

Briony: she likes the sensation of a bath for the first 5-10 minutes; then she starts to feel overheated and almost sweaty, even though she should be feeling clean and refreshed! So, like Ayla, she probably sticks around longer in 'warm' rather than scalding hot baths. Her enjoyment is probably a 6/10 and probably more so when it's a social/group experience!

Lavinet: she probably loves baths the most out of the whole gang, it's a 10/10 for her! A hot scented bath is one of life's greatest pleasures and luxuries, especially if she has time to use all of her accoutrements and scented oils and bath accessories! Of course, she's also used to having a servant on-hand to wash her hair and etc., so her concept of baths is inherently a bit different from everyone else's!

Halek: he actually likes baths quite a lot, probably a 7 to 8/10, but mostly because he can relax and fall asleep in them, and also because when he's in there, people will leave him alone for the most part 😂😂

22! 3 are collabs, and some of mine are quite short but I am still proud of that number.

315,168. (That number is crazy) but again, some of that is collabs, including Birthday Man which is 39k and written by several people, and my part was very short. I would guess the real number is around 265k, which…damn. That’s still a lot.

Always! I love getting comments. We have such a rich comment culture in our fandom and it’s something I really enjoy participating in. I feel like I’m doing my part to keep that comment culture robust when I engage with other commenters.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I was about to say I don’t do angsty endings, but then I remembered my mafia fic Button Man and, fuck. Yeah, that one’s real angsty.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Most of them are happy I think. Beastly is a fairytale with a traditional happy ending, but honestly most of them are, especially the longer ones. I even left Button Man as ambiguous because I’m a wimp 😂

Nope! This fandom is so nice, we rarely see hate and I hope we can keep it that way.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do! Mostly super tender and full of emotion. Sappy porn.

I have some things languishing in my docs but the only WIP that’s published is Depth of Reason and I fully intend to finish it.

Probably emotions and inner thoughts. I like the plots and premises that drive my stories as well. I think I’ve got some creative ones in there.

When I read other works I can always find things i appreciate that others do well that I wish I could do better. I wish I was funnier. I wish I could write banter or witty dialogue or crack. I wish I could be more poetic. I wish my writing was sexier or more visceral. Maybe I’ll get better at these things. And maybe I’ll never write in styles I appreciate. Which is okay. We can’t do it all.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Besame mucho 😘 No, idk my language skills are crap so I doubt I’d do this in a fic unless I saw a need for it in a story and I had someone’s help with it.

hmm, okay. fave and least fave RH stories!

Let me start here: I know TPOT and all the ridiculous Robin Hood references I made in it might make it seem like I have an intense wealth of knowledge of this particular story, but the truth is:

I decided to do Whumptober 2022

I wrote Bree's arrest and did not have a plan. (I was also writing Fen and Freddie and The Curiosity Collector at the same time, and I was winging all of it.)

I needed a plot to go along with the "makeshift bandage" and "self-done first aid" prompts, so I invented a guy, called him Will, and then put Bree in the cell next to him.

As their characters began to form, I came up with the title The Prince of Thieves (obviously and knowingly stealing from the movie) because it sounded cool.

When I decided to rewrite the story, that was when I decided to fully lean into the Robin Hood foundation I'd set up for myself.

And it required a lot of random research! 😂

All this to say I'm neither a fangirl nor an expert, but Robin Hood stories have a bunch of things I actually love: archery, heroes with strong principles, evil bad guys, fun character archetypes to play with, a cool historic setting, found family, and romance. So I simply couldn't resist.

Okay now that I've made it clear that I'm no RH expert, let's assess the RH stories I've consumed.

Disney's Robin Hood (1977): a classic childhood thing. Lots of fun. 100% part of my whump awakening.

BBC Robin Hood (2006): probably a terrible adaptation overall (don't remember it well), but it was filled with such attractive people that I absolutely did not care. Fondly remembered by me because I watched it around the same time as the BBC Merlin.

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991): I can barely remember this movie but I am aware of its reputation. I am slightly emotionally attached to it because I watched it while I was on a student exchange. We dragged mattresses into the common area and watched it together. So fun.

Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993): most recently watched, as you know, and truly hilarious. Extra points because I am in love with Cary Elwes in this era.

Once Upon a Time (2011-2018): meh. don't remember much. Sean Maguire as RH didn't thrill me. Can't say much more.

Once Upon a Time in Wonderland (2013): I will actually die on the hill that this short-lived show is fun to watch, but it has some tropes that speak directly to my soul plus characters from Aladdin and RH so of course I would say that. Objectively, I don't think it's very good. Will Scarlett is funny and has a great northern accent (but Cyrus is my man). Robin is still boring AF.

Verdict:

Fave: goes to BBC or Mel Brooks.

Least fave: Kevin Costner or OUAT

E) Creates a Tumblr account. What does the character like to post?

Fred's blog starts out entirely as cat pics. People think because there are so many different cats that he's stealing other people's cat pictures and reuploading them, but then people do a deep dive and realize that a) the photos were all taken on the same device and b) his posts are the first iteration of the pics on the internet. He makes cat memes. Eventually he becomes the subject of discourse because it's unethical to have so many cats. Fred is very private and doesn't actually say anything other than the names he gave to the cats... they are stray cats that he is trying his best to keep out of trouble. Yeah, of course it is unethical to keep so many cats but that many cats are keeping him. It's not his fault.

James' blog is alllll over the place. Random cottagecore aesthetics (but like, not like the blogs that do this in a housewifey way, just there are floral patterns and pastels and maybe some like nice suits or something along with it), food (and drink) pics, shenanigans (he absolutely has at least one Deleware-saga level post), shit posting, he probably has at least one fandom. It's not organized in the least and he uses it super casually but somehow is still an influencer.

W) Is born from a Greek god/goddess. Who are the character’s parents and does the character have any powers?

Oh gosh I don't know the Greek pantheon fuck. Uhhhhh

Fred is maybe Persephone's child? Yeah I like Persephone for his mother. She helps him be slightly better at growing things actually. (I know I could have chosen Demeter for this as well but I do think Persephone fits Fred better than Demeter).

(Looks through a list for a while) You know what -- I like Eros as one of James' parents. I think that works well for him. Fuck if I know about powers.

Z) Is a YouTuber. What kind of videos does the character upload?

Fred -- animal and cat videos again. This is brought to his defense re: his tumblr account probably. It's why anyone knows the cats are well-cared for strays and that he's trying to make their lives as good as he can, since there is no shelter for all of them.

James -- imagine the kind of chaos that is Brandon Farris, except he has his own gimmicks. The videos ostensibly have a point but they WILL get him into trouble. He's charismatic and entertaining as hell, so somehow it doesn't hurt as much to watch this trouble happen, and he somehow manages to end each video safely. You somehow feel you have learned something from watching it, but you are not sure what.

T) Is in the Olympics sports AU. What sports does the character play?

Excuse while I look over what sports are in the Olympics ...

Fred - I was looking for something akin to parkour and I was left with either gymnastics or sport climbing and neither really feel right. But skateboarding is apparently an Olympic sport and for some reason my brain will accept that for him? So I guess he's an Olympic skateboarder 😂

James - I really wish that they had like a horseback archery category. I think he would do all sorts of cool trick shots if he could hang off the side of a horse. I'll stick with regular archery though. I do think that in modern times he'd like a shooting sport but enjoy archery more than guns. There's more art to it.

oh my gods, i never thought i'd find someone like this ever, i thought being stuck in the middle is actually really weird. like, i often find myself replying with "it depends" to questions or if i share my opinion in something, i open it and say something like "well of course, you can argue against what i said with these points, and that's valid" its like i could never fully commit myself to one mode of thinking! and it frustrated me for the longest fucking time because it made me feel so small compared to others who have strong convictions; "THIS is what i believe and Im STICKING TO IT NO MATTER WHAT" idk but i cant fucking do that 😭😂 i would take steps back and go "hmmm... are you sure? sounds a bit extreme..."

i dont read about politics, and i dunno if the right-left thing doesnt work where im from since i aint american? but most of the time, nothing much about my home changes, no matter who's in charge. i would say im pro-choice. i dunno if i would call myself a feminist or not, i don't read a lot about today's feminist movement. i would say that i dont consider myself a Catholic anymore, just whatever was taught to me doesn't jive. i love the freedom of witchcraft, but i dont like the word "manifestation" (my mom uses it all the time and it sounds soooo new agey) even though that's what a lot of—if not all— practitioners do. i also love how our living world and its wonders have logical explanations from science, its fascinating how we know all this stuff and how a lot of it are backed up by evidence and tests, but it sometimes gets in the way of how i feel about spirits, fey/fae, sirens/mermaids and other mystical, wonderful things. i think mentioning aliens are kind of silly but that's probably because the people around me use them in contexts like "they built the pyraminds of giza" even though i believe they were built by human hands. but if you were to tell me that aliens exist because the unfathomabke amount of planets out there would have at least ONE with intelligent life, i would believe you. i agree with what you said, 'hunting for sport' just feels... unnecessary and cruel. although i dont think they should be used against humans either, i can still understand why one would need it for defense. i've grown a little fascinated by archery but I don't have any plans to hunt with it, at the very most I'd do what Merida does in Brave, riding a horse and shooting targets to get that feeling. also im pansexual, just felt like adding hehe XD

I consider myself Christian. But ya know what, I dislike a lot of Christians. Oh boy do I love my god! But sometimes Christian's can be such a-holes.

People can do whatever makes them happy as long as they aren't physically harming someone. The idea that someone getting surgery or talking about health will hurt some insecure person's feelings so we shouldn't do it is just ridiculous. Someone who is insecure will most likely be hurt by a lot of things. It's no reason to attack someone. So basically positivity isn't just for those who are anti makeup or anti surgery. Guys, let's stop bashing people for wearing makeup or getting a nose job. Its getting really annoying and its turning into bullying. Instead of bashing, let's lift each other up and be encouraging.

I love deep conversations. I'm okay with small talk. But I'm not really interested in a friendship where that's all there is to it. Just deep shit mixed in with some casual "I just found something new at the store and i love it" whether that's a new vegan product, paintbrushes, a crystal.. idc I just love hearing about beliefs and things that make you happy.

Also if you like going shooting and want a buddy to tag along, I'll totally go. I'll also go shopping. Just because I like guns and getting my hands dirty doesn't mean I don't want to go to the mall and find cute shit.

On the negative side, sometimes I get angry at those that lack compassion and empathy. Narcissists really get my blood boiling. But I also really hate when people who are just looking to get angry over every little thing call themselves empaths. You aren't an empath, you just like complaining about everything and talking crap about others to feel better about yourself. A lot of these "empaths" have very narcissistic traits.

Oh yeah, I grew up with covert narcissistic siblings. So you could say I'm very fucked up emotionally and probably have some toxic traits because of my childhood. But you know what, it's also made me very understanding and less judgmental of some people. It's made me realize that you can't always trust anyone and that sometimes the people that you think are bad, are really just the victim.

Also, I may sound very narcissistic right now writing all this shit about myself, but you know what? I actually never really talk about myself that much. I never open up and I never tell people who I really am because I'm always scared that people will think I only care about myself. But thats not the case. I really hope that someday I can find someone who can know all of this about me be like "hey me too" and actually understand what its like. I love my husband so much. He's always been supportive of me and the least judgmental out of everyone in my life. But sometimes it gets so lonely because it feels like no one fully understands. Almost everyone hates me for not taking sides. Someone will hate me for being shy because i don't ever text or call or start a conversation. It's not because I don't like you, its because I don't want to bother you. And no matter how much you tell me that I'm not bothering you, I will always still feel like I'm bothering you. One of my toxic traits lol And others will hate me for opening up and telling them my beliefs because I'm either dumb for caring about animals or I'm dumb for being pro life or I'm a sinner because I don't fit and this perfect little box that Christians want me to fit into blah blah blah.

So far it feels like I'm screwed either way.

one reason, among many, that i love vyntem is cuz both of them see their relationship development as the "enemies to friends to lovers" trope which is True.

but vyn thinks theyre in the enemies stage for far too long even once him and artem are already hanging out doing groceries together. vyn appreciates artem's input on quality ingredients and which ones go good together. vyn, of course, Knows Food Well. but the selection at stellis groceries is still not what he grew up being familiar with, so he still has to have trial and error periods. but vYN? EXPERIENCING ERROR?? HE'D RATHER SET HIMSELF ON FIRE. so he and artem start doing groceries together, but it's Not because theyre friends. it's a mutually beneficial relationship because vyn gets to acquire more grocery savvy knowledge and also he gets to see how artem's mind Works (in....grocery aisles.....) which is important for......reasons....like getting the upper hand, on artem, of course. like, vyn and artem will already be firmly in the Friends territory of the trope and vyn is still 100% certain they are Enemies
