my biggest issue with the httyd live action-and just about any live action reboot is that it seems that the live action adaptations are being made to make the original “better”? like, so many people talk about a live action spiderverse, a live action hercules, a live action PRINCE OF EGYPT (dont piss me OFF.)-like animation is a beautiful work of art, and for some reason putting real people and cgi in it is supposed to be an “upgrade”? im probably being that friend that’s too woke or whatever, but i just think it’s so disrespectful to act like something that takes so much time and effort and energy is immediately considered as lower because it is animated. animation is beautiful, and it is one of the most heartfelt art forms there are, and erasing that for the sake of a cash grab is downright degrading to animation as a medium.

Despite what people complain and snark about, Bruce does in fact have contingency plans for pretty much everything. And while he doesn’t have an exact contingency for Jason apparently accidentally kidnapping the apparently prince of the Realms- some infinite space where the dead resided according to Zatanna and Constantine, he’ll have an existential crisis about it later thanks- he did have one for his kids accidentally kidnapping someone. 

He just doesn’t think that exact plan will work in this case, seeing as that plan had to do with civilians and not very large kings that could obliterate the entire world with a hand wave, nevermind the fact that they have so many armies. Not to mention what is apparently both the king’s second-in-command and brother. 

Well, if none of his usual contingencies won’t work and Constantine’s attempts at making a deal isn’t working, nor is the other’s attempts to talk the two down, then it’s plan Z time. Seduction it is.

Thinking about how fun of a concept the Mystery Kids AU is however I couldn’t never really get into it because, as much as I LOVE Psychonauts and Invader Zim, I never felt like they fit with everyone else

Like, Psychonauts and Invander Zim work really well together because their worlds are strange and fantastical to a fault, but everyone else? Coraline, Paranorman, Gravity Falls, or Over the Garden Wall are very much movies/shows about being weird and strange in a very normal world, experiencing things that you can’t tell normal people because they won’t believe you, so of course they’d mesh well together.

It doesn’t help that I think a lotta fans also didn’t know/like the inclusion of Psychonauts or Invader Zim because almost every time I saw them included in the crossover they were either a) very out of character (like you can tell the person drawing them hasn’t consumed the media they’re from) or b) extremely out of place or barely even there.

Again, I love Psychonauts and Invader Zim, well I know less of Invader Zim but I’m literally the Psychonauts liker. I just don’t think Raz and Dib fit really well into The Mystery Kids AU. They’re just too outta place.

You know who WOULD fit into the AU? The fucking kids from Monster House. They are PEAK “Insane thing just happened to me and we can NEVER speak of this to anyone else because they won’t believe us.” Or if you wanna get a little silly with it, even Danny Phantom fits better than Psychonauts!

Excuse my rambling, this has been in my brain for the past 2-3 years and I feel like I can finally talk about it lol
