omg I need your thoughts on the terminally o line author culture bc ngl it makes my eye TWITCH, there are authors I deliberately avoid even tho I've heard their stuff is good bc they're like that 🙈

HHHHH oh good lord, okay, from how I see it, there are two angles on this, both aggravating and sad: the official decree one and the spontaneous ecosystem one.

The officious one is that the nature of publishing nowadays demands an author have an online presence. You need Twitter/X. You need to let every potential reader know your book is coming out. You need engagement through reviews and pre-orders incentives (if you buy now you’ll get a special keychain!!) and word of mouth assurances from your peers that yes your book is as cool as you say it is. You need a newsletter with links (more buying! more voting on lists that are simply popularity contests!) and promises you’re still working on the next thing, don’t forget about me in the morass of everyone else doing the same thing. You need an Instagram and TikTok now to post pretty pictures and videos because one or two authors made it big off this kind of promotion and now everyone thinks it’s the ticket to the bestseller list (sadly, it seems to be working). You need an OnlyFans (a joke but I do recall a twt spat that was a joke/not joke about how rupi kaur will always be more beautiful than her critics and people who took issue with the conflation of beauty with talent). At the end of all this, you’re basically an influencer, a content creator creating content for the content you should be focusing on creating, the finished novel. And the novel itself seems to be disappearing behind the masks used to promote it (fanfic-style tropes, moodboards, playlists, memes) until I now no longer trust the book that I’ll pick up to have any resemblance to the enticements that brought me here. I’ve seen an author or two complain about the stress all this self-promotion generates, but it’s become such an entrenched part of the industry, I think people just accept it. And thus spend too much time online hoping that if they tweet just a little more, produce just one more reel, maybe that’ll be the difference between a sale and no sale.

The other side of this, distinct but obviously connected, is the ecosystem created by this panic of being perpetually visible coupled with the fact that so many of the new authors came of age during the rise of internet fandom culture. That opinionated community mindset that blurs the line between anonymity and friendship is the lens they bring to their own work. I mean, it makes sense I suppose—if you love yelling about characters and words, why wouldn’t you do that once you start to produce your own? This really came home to me hearing about that reviewbombgate “scandal” and how people involved were in reylo circles and that was used to provide receipts. You’re interacting with your readers and peers about your intimate work but they are also all strangers. They will not always give you the benefit of the doubt, and now—as opposed to the past when maybe the worst that could happen was a handful of bad reviews in newspapers—you will either be tagged in hate reviews, sub-tweeted, explicitly called out, demanded to atone for your sins. It’s no longer the morality of consumption but the morality of production. Of course, the easy answer is just log-off, touch some grass. But that can work only when you and everyone else are separated by anonymous accounts or when you have no platform to maintain. As an author trying to make your livelihood from this, suddenly it’s do or die. We’re in a strange moment of authorship bringing the Internet’s echo-chamber and claustrophobic into the real world (this is a lie: publishing now is no longer the real world. But it looks like it) and thus you can kind of no longer escape things.

Will the average reader who isn’t aware of all these machinations care about reviewbombgate? Would a reader browsing at Target think about the controversies around Lightlark? Very likely not. But the impression I’m getting more and more is that the average reader isn’t the one buying all the books. Or shall we say—a bestseller’s status relies on bookstore stock. Bookstore stock is only huge when they know a book will be a good investment. They’ll only know a book is a good investment if it and its author has street cred based on booktokkers, bookstagram, bloggers and reviewers (have you noticed how many books out these last maybe 1-3 years have these kinds of accounts thanked in the acknowledgments? Yeah), and THESE are also chronically online people who will Know. And decide the cast of fate.

Honestly, @batrachised, I see why you avoid these kinds of writers, though I wonder how long it’ll be before the disease becomes epidemic.

Obviously, it could be better, but we overall have decent and healthy ways of communicating with each other. Usually it’s talking out loud or leaving little notes.

Alter intros

Because apparently it’s a crime against being neurodivergent to share about your alters. We obviously can’t share everything for obvious reasons but we want yall to get to know us.

DNI alters

This may be a hard pill to swallow, but DNI doesn’t always mean the alter is some dangerous monster. It can mean that alter is too little to be online, it could mean that alter is a social anxiety symptom holder, it could mean that alter just doesn’t like talking to people outside the system/at all. These are just a few examples. Or maybe, that alter just doesn’t wanna be fuckin interacted with. But these alters should still be acknowledged. Why? Because healing is a thing. Locking them away isn’t healthy. Maybe they want people to know not to interact with them. But noooo, all DNI alters are awful people apparently.

Other mental health disorders

We have anxiety and depression (diagnosed and genetic), medically recognized ADHD, and tics. And yes, all of our alters have tics because it's caused by your brain and we share the same brain.

Hey, you know what's interesting? I've been following solarpunk blogs for years. And I never saw any solarpunk blog display any kind of apologism for violence until this past month. In the span of a few weeks, the entire eco community has completely changed its tone about violent strategies. Apparently, since everyone is hyped about violence this month, violence is on the table now.

The US government legally classifies pipeline disrupters as domestic terrorists. Now, with our newfound violent rhetoric, we can give the FBI even better reasons to call us domestic terrorists. Everyone has spent a month calling terrorism "decolonization." So now the media will have a field day portraying eco activists as terrorists any time we mention decolonization. This will make attempting to communicate with the public much more complicated and challenging. But oh well. What's done is done. Tiktok decided to associate terrorism with the decolonization movement and now we all have to live with the consequences.

Do you think the eco movement's new political attitude towards violence will help our cause or hurt it? I'm genuinely curious. By the way, oil companies are deeply integrated with the military industrial complex which requires fossil fuel for missiles. So I'll ask again. Do you think violence is a good strategy for resisting the fossil fuel empire? Should we be studying, glorifying, and emulating violent movements? Is that a form of battle that we could ever possibly win? Or is that just a way for us all to martyr ourselves?

Also, how do these violent resistance movements even get off the ground? Do they just conjure their weapons out of thin air? Or are those weapons smuggled across borders by Iran's proxy militias? Do you think Iran or some other country with proxy ambitions would smuggle weapons to eco defenders? I don't know if they would. I'm just curious how murderous violent resistance could ever possibly overlap with solarpunk.

^^^ This is the post this is referring to for context. Now let's get down to dissecting this below the cut bc YIKES this is a lot to discuss but here why dont join me for a spot of tea yeah?

Before I start to tackle this with as good faith as I can let's get some facts in order:

A) I'm from Canada, a country known by its citizens for not respecting protesters/activists. Hell, the first Premiere of Manatoba, Louis Riel was a classified Traitor and was hanged for fighting against the government for the rights of his people and we treat him as the hero he is now. In the mid 2000s a "rebellion" was lead to protect a reservation from the mounties and they stole a tank! While the news and gov ripped them apart give it 10 years and ppl cheer at the idea now. The fairy creek protests and the pipeline protests are more recent examples. They arrested and brutalized people doing nothing more then having breakfast on their own land while blocking construction. So like.... I don't have the illusion of a "peaceful" protest. Here (particularly my province) you go to a protest you simply dont expect to come home. We are functionally a monarchy, we don't have "freedom of speech" and the government was never instilled for our "freedom" or our benefit it was solely to divide up the land and to conquer.

B) this is super not new to Eco movements in particular. They've have "Eco terrorists" on record as early as the 1900s ranging from Treespiking during early logging, to throwing paint on fur wearers in the 1970s. Wiebo Arienes Ludwig is from my Province, arrested for sabotaging Oil wells and went to trial in 2000. This is definitely not a new concept to eco movements and as Solarpunk enters a more Praxis heavy punk scene instead of pure sci-fi this is likely going to be a branch of it there's no avoiding that.

"Choose peace rather than confrontation. Except in cases where we cannot get, where we cannot proceed, where we cannot move forward. Then, if the only alternative is violence, we will use violence."

This additiude comes from a reasonable place in fact here a quote from Nelson Mandela in Gaza, 1999 sums it up pretty well:

Particularly since typically they will blame a peaceful protest just as much as a "violent" one. I think "violence " is something that will happen no matter what we do. If we're as peaceful as possible, they'll still call us violent mobs just to have an excuse to crack some skulls. Even if they're just having breakfast, on their own land, they will arrest and beat them. It won't matter at a certain point bc they want to prove they can be in control.

Now don't get me wrong, I would honestly prefer to slowly adapt. To build as we take down, to show ppl the joy of this and they'll come on their own. But that only works if the goverment and the citizens are equal partners. And idk bout the states since im not from there, but here? It wouldn't matter how many citizens asked for us to go Green overnight the government would ignore that cry for the corpate money.

"People should not be scared of their governments, governments should be scared of their people" and sure this is because we out number them but they should be working for us because that's the point of a goverment in the first place.

Next is: Do I think this is a useful way to spend energy?

Yes! I do, giving something for people to do with their hands, with groups, makes ppl realize how powerful they are and how weak the system oppressing them is. Empowering ppl to do what they can where they can is always good! What ppl do with knowledge is up to them, and if they feel it's needed then generally needed.

Now to the point of weapons: no one has said anything about weapons that something like the oil companies or military would back?? All the weapons endorced by these movements are typically things like using spikes and putting them into trees, or like in France- the energy union cutting off power to the CEOs house (while giving free electricity to hospitals and poor communitis) until they reconsidered the penson plans. Or when they put BBQs on tram lines during a protest. These are weapons, but they are of the ppls trade, they are tools ppl already have not as you said "[weapons] smuggled in to eco defenders" no one is suggesting Guns? That simply won't solve things.

Organizing, communicating, and strategic planning is our best weapons.

I think that covers it, but I'm also doing this on mobile while sick so I might not have covered it all. Although i think my point is made! The final thing I'll say is, if you don't agree with these parts of the movement you don't have to participate or even look at them. Forge your own path! Others I'm sure will follow! My way will never be the only way and we are in charge of our own experiences online. I remember the post you made about Claudia De La Cruz and looking for presidential candidates and have you checked out Jasmine Sherman and Brittany Jones? They have some stuff similar to what Claudia has but they also have things that are distinctly their own. I think they’re all good candidates but tbh I’m kinda leaning towards Jasmine.

After checking them out I'll say that they don't seem to have good footwork for their campaigns unfortunately. The websites seem unfinished, they post mainly on tiktok and facebook. I had to find Jasmine's platforms thru a linktree. To me it's not super promising bc of how little engagement there is and how they're approaching their outreach. Also, their political theory seems to lack a bit outside of personal experience! de la Cruz has a specific party that does have support in a bunch of cities, mine included. I've seen her out protesting in New York pretty constantly and getting her name out there. I also wish she'd do more outreach to other states. Here, y'all can compare the websites for yourselves and see what I mean:

I know presentation isn't everything but it does speak to how prepared people are, how organized they are, and how much preliminary support they do have. Even though it's a slim chance, de la Cruz/Garcia have a much higher shot at any success than Sherman or Jones.

okay now for the fun stuff. You said you like Logan because he contributes to the group, but I disagree. I feel like Logan has contributed least to the group. When you say “he keeps level-headed”, I feel the opposite. Logan is very shy and timid, and he gets scared very easily. Logan is very easy to persuade and intimate, which is why he got bullied in the first place. Although he stood up to Barron, he wasn’t level headed at all. He was clouded with rage (which in part has to do with the phantoms) but shows he cannot control his emotions well. In many offical arts + earlier chapters, Logan is seen crying / hesitating constantly. Yes he has a reason to be terrified, but you cannot say he is level headed. Especially compared to everyone else. I’m not sure how I feel about him being able to make decisions under pressure. I think Logan is good at analyzing situations. Thats why he was able to come up with multiple theories about the phantom world. But I feel like in order to say he makes good decisions under pressure, he’d have to actually put these decisions into action. Logan is still very hesitant though and I don’t want to base his character off of one scene, especially because I’ve talked about why I feel like that scene was a cover up and not genuine. Most of the time Logan follows the instructions and commands of others. He actually buckles under pressure imo. like when they were fighting before getting the car, Logan would’ve never mentioned he was scared if Tyler had not spoken first. He would’ve just followed everyone else due to peer pressure. Logan always acts second. I honestly believe if he had saw Aiden on the roof he would’ve never even considered using his gun because he avoids situations that have a lot of pressure and responsibility. So no, I don’t believe Logan makes good decisions under pressure. Again that’s just my opinion and I’m down to talk about it more! but if you do want to debate pls js reblog this or put another ask in bc the comment word limit is so annoying 😭

life is better mostly bc i stopped caring and really really stopped giving my dad the energy i did before.

me and my mom are closer than ever, same goes for my siblings and i, and my nephew.

my dads still a crazy person and since the last time i logged in, he’s caused much chaos but the rest of us are learning to work around his bipolar manic episodes, and the coke.

i gained weight, lost it, gained again and now i’ve been maintaining but im gonna get back to my LW soon.

i had back surgery, grew a whole three inches, im now 5’8” and the weight looks different on me

no boyfriend, broke up shortly after my last post i think, i also lost my friend group through that whole thing and got used by another dude luckily not physically. hashtag still a virgin

now im just here, prettier, more fit, i’ve improved my mental health but i’ll be happier when im actually working and able to go off on my own.

i feel sorry for younger me, and in my heart i hold her close and nurture her, she didn’t know anything, she still doesn’t but she knows her emotions and how to articulate them now.

i’m gonna be a sophomore in college, maybe just maybe i’ll be able to go on campus somewhere, originally i wanted NAU but my parent were still crazy back then and i was scared, they wouldn’t speak to me unless they were yelling at me when i was leaving. so i stayed and went to online college, but i’m older now and i want to be like the other people my age, i don’t like feeling so small around them. if i was an outcast before you can imagine now lol but it’s no pity party, just me promising i’ll do it.

my sister is still golden, i had a car then she sold hers and has had mine for a year, no plans on giving it back but still gives me shit about having no license, she also crashed it, broke the radio, puts her two gigantic dogs in it, and i’m sure she tells others i don’t even drive while ironically it’s been in her possession, she doesn’t even visit home to let me get a chance to drive. our relationship is as thin as string currently. i don’t bother messaging or texting her and her with me, some tiktoks, and after my surgery we were close.

i had two jobs while gone, both went to shit one i got covid, the other was family gossip. And now it’s just difficult to find a job, still no friends, i know people but i don’t reach out and neither do they

To be honest since I moved blogs my following isn't that big. It's probably big to some and small to others, but I think it's quite intimate over here? I don't have much advice to offer I'm afraid because Tumblr is very fickle I feel. You can work yourself to the bone on something your proud of and get little interactions but then something else you barely put effort into can get thousands of notes. I'm really grateful to every bit of support I've received and I love my followers and I'm happy to be able to have interactions and stuff on my work but it can definitely be discouraging when you don't get the interactions you're hoping for.

I will say, the follower count doesn't matter in my opinion. Like sure it's nice but over time blogs might stop logging in and interacting so they're just like silent followers.

But if you are interested in growing your followers, posting more frequently helps. I just post when I want bc I used to post every single day on my old blog and my growth was crazy but I got so burnt out and just hated writing. Plus, the followers I gained from doing that weren't always active so it was really difficult not knowing why I was performing so poorly despite having a larger following.

People always say you should write for yourself and it's very true tbh. I used to be mega obsessed with my follower count and interactions and it made me so miserable but since I've moved I've not cared at all. The pressure is gone and I'm just genuinely having fun writing and posting whenever I want. And then if something doesn't do well, it isn't a big deal because I had fun writing a story and sharing it regardless.

I'm not saying I don't care at all when something doesn't perform well because it does absolutely suck when you work hard and you don't get the response you'd hoped for, but I don't let it ruin my days anymore like I used to. I just shrug and move on. There's always gonna be new stories to tell and you never know which one people are gonna fall in love with.

I think a lot of people have tiktok brain too, long fics aren't super popular because people just want a quick consumable story to nut to akdhgalkdsh. I love writing long fics but I definitely do those for me, and if they do well I'm happy and if they don't that's fine bc at least I know I've written something for myself and I'm proud.

My requests often do better than my actual fics bc they are easier to write. They're always shorter and therefore easier for people to digest!

Making friends here is hard too but that's always a good way to go. I love the friends I've made here because you get to gossip about what you're working on and you can brainstorm with them too. And more often than not your friends always wanna hype you up and share your work which gets it to more and more people y'know??

My opinion is still the same. They're using the exact damn information as was used in the previous doc (actually less, leaving out parts) that were used to defend Bug and Java previously. It repeats the same claims, doesn't show how anything was forced, makes Murciè for real look worse in all honesty.

Same freaking talking points just twisted to somehow fit their narrative. All it does is more clearly state that this kid who was doing nsfw shit, shows them as being aggressive towards their "fps" needing to follow their nsfw account, showing aggressions towards anyone who didn't believe them, ect.

I see no asking for pictures of this person, no sexual comments directed towards the minor themselves, they keep referencing vc chats that NEITHER party provided with a "just trust me bro" explanation. There's no threats of "well if you don't do this then I'm gonna [generic threat idk expose you online?]", and the original doc (made by Java/Bug - available to the entire public) shows more chat logs than this one.

All that was added to this doc was Bug and Java liking comments that supported them on their Tiktok and Bug's original statements about being angry that someone they thought was their friend was calling them a p*do along with other things. Bug didn't curse, was logical in their explanation, and of all things was telling the truth.

And even their new thread was an apology for allowing someone who's literally one year away from being an adult be allowed to express their interests in adult subjects through their ocs and share adult art. Then for Java there was a single comment about pulling someone's tie being used as 'proof', and a censored picture from Murciè which could of been a literal meme for all I know.

All of these people despite being so close in age are all still teenagers and probably still live with their parents. They's gonna act like teenagers, they's gonna get mad at each other and make impulsive decisions. But that's no damn excuse to call someone a p*do and all this other shit.

THE ONLY HARRASSMENT that was happening was from those 6 accounts trying to make fun of a serious allegation. It was completely distasteful, and had there been evidence of an actual predatory offence here, they could have been jailed for making those accounts.

I don't see any predatory behavior, I see one pushy teenager (Murciè) trying to tear down two artists cause they was mad over something. All I see is ONE artist allowing someone a year from being an adult engage on talking about NSFW topics regarding fictional characters with them. And that was shown BY THE ARTIST in question and admitted by the artist, and they apologized for it.

Murciè started the conversations, Murciè was using all caps basically screaming for attention these artists to follow the NSFW account they were already planning on making before asking them, and they literally backhanded themselves in the face by saying they was getting prayed on and was being pressured.

and then just start making hella trendy content. Give him some good ass TikTok dance routines or stunning gifsets. Making the main romance intriguingly ✨GAY✨ despite himself. Ofc our main murderer has to be very rugged, charming, just sex on legs.

there's a limit on how much you can be an isekai intellectual...

a bunch of analyses have been popping up before me all day so i wanted to throw my hat into the ring. all love to ppl who are exercising their creative minds + ppl like geoff here who just talk about these things because of fan interest but i feel like there reaches a point where exploring the "types" of isekai is pointless? i've seen ppl list out the different types of villainess revenge isekai or fantasy mmorpg isekai but eh why fit them all into separate boxes like that?

i think it's easier to think of isekai as a "type" (genre) of itself with only two categories: 1) a focus on isekai (lit. another world) 2) tensei (lit. to be reborn). this allows for a variety of applications and thus tropes that ppl see so many trends of!

with isekai - in another world

you see everything from:

pure fantasy (inuyasha, digimon wait maybe not the best example but in my childhood mind i count digimon as pure fantasy, fushigi yugi)

mmorpg inspired fantasy/adventure (.hack//legend of twilight, sao ugh, log horizon, overlord (LOVE OVERLORD!)

otome game-esque worlds >>> this is where it gets complicated with "villainess routes" since i admit there are multiple villainess tropes but this is why it's nice to not think of this as a "sub-type/genre" bc it frees you from those complications! (the saint's magic power is omnipotent, the white cat's revenge as plotted from the dragon king's lap soso cute!, the savior's book cafe in another world, i'm a villainous daughter so i'm going to keep the last boss wait i can't remember if she's reborn in this one lmaooo see this is why rules make everything hard)

with tensei storylines - being reincarnated/reborn in another world as *insert character/role*

the same tropes!!

pure fantasy (a returner's magic should be special, reminiscence adonis, the lady and the beast, light and shadow, i can't think of a manga off the top of my head for this ah)

mmorpg inspired fantasy/adventure (so i'm a spider so what i stan kumoko so hard, her majesty's swarm, can't name another off the top of my head ah i hate lists shorter than two things...)

self-insert based games/novels (fiance's observation log of a self-proclaimed villainess, who made me a princess, death is the only ending for the villainess, the villainess wants to marry a commoner, honestly games vs novels are different applications but i'm not in the headspace to try to remember a bunch of both lol)

*insert line break to give random ppl a break from scrolling but tl; dr just enjoy things for what they are no need to micro analyze*

similar variations occur in both genres (if ppl want to be super technical i guess i'm arguing that isekai itself is a massive genre that has the "another world" subgenre and "reincarnation" subgenre tl; dr) so i think it's honestly a huge pain to try to separate all these trends into so many different types of stories. for me personally it's easier to not get overwhelmed by this gigantic umbrella of "isekai" that spans light novels, manhwa, manga, and mobile games by just stripping each story down into its trademark tropes (aka character archetypes, story structures) and slapping "oh this is a person going to a world that's not ours" and "this person gets reborn as blank in another world". none of this "omg this power fantasy is such a this kind of isekai moment" or "there are 14 different types of villainess revenge stories and this series fits into this" bc AH labels! limitations! circle-jerks via ppl trying to compartmentalize everything and sound smart for leaving a comment on story analysis instead of ooh-ahhing over a character's face! dividing things into light novel manga vs manga vs korean manhwa ft. female characters!

the last bit is mainly why i feel frustrated by ppl's insistence to group everything?

the video linked at the beginning of the post (honestly good video essay, i enjoyed it, i just kept thinking in my head the whole time "marimo these are tropes do not take the genre talk literally") has a baby comment thread talking about "korean isekai manhwas" as a genre featuring nothing but reincarnated villainess' and i can't.

like i cannot acknowledge that as a genre of any sort. the energy i felt reading through some of those insights takes me back to 2012 when all yt americans discovered k-pop and deemed all korean music k-pop from then on! (ppl still do this now, yes you are seen and don't talk to me pls i don't like you. k-pop is korean pop music and nothing less and nothing more. take a few seconds and try to parse apart aspects of korean culture instead of slamming everything into a monolithic label that has the letter k and a hyphen.) it feels so odd to see a bunch of young ppl on ig and tiktok acknowledge korean media that happens to be in the form of a webtoon as "oh stories all about young girls becoming villains in stories they made/played" bc it feels so reductive u.u

breaking news! korean manhwa...is just as multifaceted as japanese manga...bc how can comics as an art-form not have multiple genres...huh such a shocker?!?! same likely applies to media in other parts of the world like chinese manhwa and french comics--not my place to explain either of those i just know those industries exist bc of wakfu and donghua shows by Tencent.

at the end of the day it's not like analyzing any kind of isekai is wrong--absolutely not!! i think it can be super fun to think about how isekai elements complicate a story (MCs trying to go back home, ppl from the og world, reincarnation plot-twists) or maybe even bash a series for including some kind of other world element when they could have just written a super fun fantasy.

insert marimo's brief ramble that hey you can get sick of truck-kun's hitting disillusioned guys who happen to be super duper smart or girls who happen to be master chefs/craftsmen but transporting a fully-grown being into a fantasy setting is the ultimate cheat code for making mundane modern technology seem cool and overpowered, and being reincarnated as a fully grown person in a world with a pre-made story/game set-up completely bypasses the need for an author to slowly flesh out world-building in a natural progression so isekai is actually a really smart writing tool it's just that there are some series where the author didn't use it well at all and it's cheesy or clearly isekai was misused as a vehicle for character/story development and it was pointless *DEEP BREATH OUT*

in this essay i will argue...lol i am such a culture studies major!! if i were an english major i would be talking all about writing but here i am having a side-tangent about world-building via someone being reborn wow i love this for me (don't get me started on when an author has someone reincarnate as a baby and the story is mostly them having warm fluffy moments with their family--typically father figures--and getting lots of powers i could and would and probably will rant about east asian toxicity)

but anyway am i crazy????? like yes for being passionate about the technical use of a word like genre (i am a scorpio rising let me be fussy pls) but i don't think it's a lot to ask for ppl to not unironically see "villainess revenge isekai" as the definition of korean manhwa.

SURPRIZE anon! It's because they're not a funny toy to play with and are their own people who grow and develop and are affected by the systems experiences. This is beyond common. So much so that many introjects wouldn't immediately be recognized as introjects, and iirc NOTED IN PROFESSIONAL STUDIES ON THE DISORDER. Especially regarding abuser and caretaker introjects, or "factives", which I'm getting the feeling you'd also fakeclaim about. If all you've seen is "kids faking" (no you haven't, you've seen traumatized children acting like traumatized children in an environment that actively makes that shit worse such as tiktok), you haven't spent time in DID communities. There are plenty of adult centric DID spaces. We just don't want fakeclaiming losers there.

Regarding sharing accounts- we just leave ours logged in on our phone. If someone wants to and knows how to use it, they're allowed. Either through memory sharing (hard fucking work btw, which is the most common goal of treatment), or just rolling up and figuring it out. But not everyone does. Glass has his own blog where he talks mental health stuff, but Licorice hates our phone and only uses it in emergencies, I don't think he's ever posted. hi dokter (i think i spelled it right? sorry;;). im gonna sound like an asshole and i feel horrible about that but, i feel like a lot of people fake DID and multiple personality disorders. I know that i shouldnt fake claim people and such but, ive been on discord servers and theres a random channel dedicated to alters finding out who they are and then they always know how to set themselves up with a bot mechanic and switch between people rapidly. im a jerk for this, but genuinely in my head there is no logical explanation for how they have amnesia but know and understand discord completely. or how people will have fictives that are nothing like the source, just genuinely nothing like the character. its present in a lot of teenagers that struggle with mental illness and escapism, i think its less of a knowingly faking thing and more of a misdiagnosing themselves and truly WISHING there were more people there and they could share a body with dream. I feel like i do a fair amount of research, and looking into DID leaves me confused sometimes with how a lot of people online display their symptoms. why do alters all share an account and sign it? how do they all know the password? how do they all know how to operate it? (referring to tiktok because so much DID content comes from there, all with teenagers and young adults. i have yet to see someone over the age of like, 23 talking about DID. yes i admit it is nice, after scrolling on tiktok all day and seeing videos about white women this and white women that, to log on here and see people critiquing the idea that sexism isnt its own axis of oppression and pointing out that a lot of this content just comes from white men etc. it does feel validating to see.

and its obviously very telling that these posts get the most traction on here. after roe v wade getting overturned there were tons of (correct) critiques of the idea that wealthy white women will always be able to get abortions and that those women aren't really affected etc,,, and always with a little disclaimer** saying that yes ofc women of colour and women in poverty will be affected more. but how often do posts about THOSE issues gain traction compared to just being a footnote in a post about how white women get treated by libs

and of course yes it is tiring to exist in those kinds of spaces where sexism is barely acknowledged and see people make misogynistic jokes that go uncritiqued because they say "white women",,, and it can be nice to log on here and see people critiquing that. but we should also be aware of when we are just using these things to validate our own biases and avoid doing any actual internal work. bc even if it's not overt in the same way, woc are still at the receiving end of way more sexism/racism from liberal online communities too, not to mention all the racism you see from radfems on here too.

in my own opinion, tae wouldn’t be the first person i chase. catching this mans eye is hard enough, i definitely believe it would be better for tae to chase them

be educated. smart and quirky are the way to tae’s heart. even if you think it’s so dumb, tae would think you’re so cool tbh
