toriel and papyrus (nonship just to clarify)

Hm.

Toriel asks Papyrus to teach her how to fight. Specifically, how to fight like he does, where he's incapable of ever killing someone if he doesn't want to. She asks this because she remembers her fight with Frisk, where she immediately stops one of her attacks if Frisk runs into her hands, but also due to having some...worrisome nightmares...

After the Barrier is broken, Asgore steps down from his role as King, Toriel takes up her role as Queen again to fill in, and because Toriel talked Asgore out of appointing Frisk to be ambassador, them being much too young for the role, Papyrus just appoints himself Ambassador. Toriel and Papyrus realize they've got more than a few similarities, such as their loneliness and difficulty in connecting with others, how they can both be somewhat overbearing, how they're both rather intelligent. A friendship is struck up, as they both adjust to the role and juggle with both the newly freed monster race who has only just recently resolved to give humanity a chance, and the still-fearful and ignorant humanity.

Papyrus brings Flowey up out of the Underground, and allows him to live with him. He accidentally learns Flowey was once Prince Asriel Dreemurr. There is a series of zany and farcical hijinks as he tries to stop his brother's best friend from learning the true identity of her son.

About The Project

Hi! Welcome to Surface Flowers: An Undertale Universe, or SFAU. This is an AU work in progress, one that I plan to make animations for, and possibly a comic. A comic sounds fun.

Anyways.

SFAU takes place post-pacifist, and follows most of the main cast of the game, with a couple of additions. They are on the surface, after all, they're bound to meet new people.

Right now, it's just me working on the project, but hopefully, soon enough I'll have some help working on this.

Desert Sanctuary AU

Post Undertale Yellow True Pacifist. Clover decides to NOT sacrifice himself. Doing so would risk bringing humanity a step closer to extinction and there is also no real guarantee it would help anyone. And Asgore still needs to pay for his crimes.

He and the others return to the Wild East. After some discussion, the Wild East declares independence from the rest of the Underground and announces that any human within their borders is under their protection.

Roles

Clover: Unofficial Leader and Human Ambassador

He's at the head of all diplomatic meetings between the Wild East and the Larger Underground. Wants both peace and justice. Is trying to prove humanity isn't bad but is constantly battling his own anger. Still plans to free the five souls. LV 3, 0 EXP

Ceroba: Official Leader

After the Wild East declared its independence, it was made into a Democracy. Ceroba is the current Mayor of the town. Had the Steamworks repurposed to help the residents of the Wild East. Still wants answers about Kanakoe.

Starlo: Head of Law Enforcement and Defence.

Takes his new role very seriously but still goes by North Star. Human-hating extremists from the Larger Underground have sneaked into the Wild East to either sabotage them or steal Clover's soul. Caught the first unlucky bastard trying to kill Clover in his sleep. Doesn't want to risk that happening again.

Martlet: Scout and Mole.

Not an official resident of the Wild East. Still works for the Royal Guard but only to gather intel and have the best possible chance to find a human before someone else and bring them to the Wild East. Unsure if this is the best course of action.

So I guess asgore is desperate to find clover or he doesn't know that clover is there, because there is an secret ending in the game that if you decide to kill Ceroba, clover and martlet go to meet asgore and he's shock to see clover there

That's correct! During Clover's time growing up in the Underground, Asgore and by extension the Royal Guard were not aware of the fact that another human child was secretly growing up in the Dunes. There were rumors of a human that had fallen down and simply disappeared since their soul was never captured, but Asgore had no way of knowing these rumors had any actual truth behind them.

Once the Royal Guard's investigation into these rumors turned up nothing (given that Clover spent most of their time in the Dunes area where the Royal Guard doesn't have easy access to) Asgore simply gave up hope and resumed waiting around in his castle, waiting for another human to enter the Underground.

This of course, doesn't mean Clover was entirely off the hook. Even as they aged, they still had to remain very vigilant and careful of where they went in the Underground and who they revealed themselves to, given that an unsavory Monster distrustful of humans could still very well report them to the king...

Say hello to my brother! Lofitale Ralsei! Or Prince Ralsei Dreemurr! The Albino Prince of the Underground! Once again, in this universe he was born in the Ruins to Mom eight months after she left Dad and after I was killed. Born a rare albino with pink eyes, skin, horns, and claws, the little boy was truly a Prince of the Dark. He would always have to wear some kind of covering to not be burned by harsh light. He would become just as gifted as Mom with cooking, healing, geology, and herbology. After Frisk reunites him with me, we all live on the surface together with another adoptive sibling: Suzy!

*its definitely not as common nowadays as it was back in like ~2018 but ill still sometimes see someone treating flowey and asriel like completely diffrent characters or say stuff like "my favorite character is asriel but not flowey!" which to me is just... super confusing? because honestly the fact that they're the same person is, to me, one of the most interesting parts of his character. whenever i am turning flowey around in my brain i cannot stop thinking about how theres still asriel in him, like when in the alarm clock dialoge toriel mentions that she woke up in her bed with a glass of water filled to the brim, like how asriel did it, next to her after passing out on the floor, or how emotional he is, quickly becoming frustrated being just how quick asriel was to cry. or even how he still looks up to chara. he tries to pretend asriel is "long dead" but he is still the same person. despite everything, its still him.

i dont know i just feel like seperating asriel and flowey takes away so much depth from his character

he's seen as a little eccentric and ambitious with his plans sometimes, but i doubt much would have the heart to directly shut him down.
