Prompt (if you’re still on a train): where was Xiaoge and what was he doing when he regained his (very bittersweet!!) memories of his mother?
oh god oh god this is such a great prompt and i'm not sure my bit of train writing can do it justice, but here you go!!
Zhang Qiling is with Xiazi, gathering intel about a nearby tomb, when he sees a mother soothing a fussy child: a sight he’s seen a million times before. The most natural thing in the world.
But this time, something is different. He looks at them, at the care with which the woman holds the baby, at the love obvious in her eyes even as tired as she seems, and he’s hit with a wave of longing so strong it threatens to topple him off his feet. He doesn’t remember his childhood very well, but he knows enough to know he’s never had that—
No.
There’s a woman, lying only half-conscious on a bed in a Tibetan monastery. There’s a stone in his shape, and unconditional love spanning decades, and a hand barely warmer than a corpse holding his, and something in his chest aching.
He stumbles, and Xiazi’s hand shoots out to steady him, his expression puzzled. Zhang Qiling is still gaping at the women with the child, and Xiazi must follow his eyes to her, because something about him softens.
“Remember something?” he asks. “I know your family doesn’t believe in anything as mundane as giving your kids a childhood.”
“No,” Zhang Qiling says. He’s got a duty to the Zhang family, to the world, and he’ll fulfil it to the best of his abilities. But his mother wasn’t a Zhang. He knows as much, even if he doesn’t know anything else.
But he knows where he can learn more; the Tibetan temple on the other side of China.
He could do it alone, after they finish with the tomb they’re here for. Or . . . Surprising himself, he says, “Come to Motuo with me.”
Xiazi nods, looking at Zhang Qiling with a weird sort of concern—Zhang Qiling doesn't realise why until Xiazi reaches for him, and a careful thumb wipes a tear from his cheek.
#dmbj#heiping#xiaoge#blackholemetric#also...#he must've forgotten and remembered many times ;;;;;;;;#poor xiaoge#realistically he was probably alone but THAT WAS TOO CRUEL OKAY

Fixa, maybe that could be the reason why people hate the way I worked with Xiaoge in my main fic to give back his humanity and autonomy at point of him start talking? Part of what makes us humans relies on our memory, bc it’s with the memories we develop our understanding of emotions and of ourselves in first place. Even being a therapist, I often wonder why people hate characters healing and becoming more human/more free, just because healing is “not part of canon”...
Don't 'cha love it when a character whose entire backstory and tragedy is the gradual stripping of their humanity and free will is portrayed as a pet in fanwork?
#the irony was a delight but I went angry when I thought abt for ten seconds jksjksjks#poor xiaoge#fixaidea's post

Hils Watches Tibetan Sea Flower - Ep 2
Just in case you weren't sure
Back in the days when Xiaoge talked
Poor Wang Meng does not get paid enough to deal with the amount of Wu Xie's bullshit that he has to endure
Love that Wu Xie thinks Wushanju makes enough money that he can just have funds transferred to his account
Yeah, that's what I said
I love that in the first episode Wu Xie says he has no tomb raiding skills. Apparently he also has no running a business skills either.
I know it's only episode 2, and it's been a while since I read the novella, but so far this feels like a pretty close adaptation. Especially compared to some of the others.
I'm sure I've seen him in something else but I can't think where

NPSS Weibo Q&A (20240831) Part 4
This is a Q&A session held on Weibo. People will tag their questions with the hashtag #南派三叔藏海花在线答疑# (#NPSS Zang Hai Hua Online Q&A#) and NPSS will look through the tag to pick some to answer. The event started at 1500 hours on 2024 August 31st.
Folder with screenshots and big compilation google doc is here. Part 1 is here. Part 2 is here. Part 3 is here.
1608
Q: Man crush, honestly, do you think that West Lake Vinegar Fish is delicious? Can you finish a plate of Vinegar Fish from Louwailou by yourself?
A: Actually, I really can’t. At most, I can eat two bites. But I’ve heard that they’ve improved their recipe lately and now it’s very delicious.
1609
Q: Shu, how long do you spend online from day to night? Your mental state is great. (T/N: “great” as in “wow what a mental state!”) A: I actually have too many things to write but well, I’m a liuliang celebrity, aren’t I?
1609
Q: The unbeatable, most handsome man crush in the universe, may I ask if Wu Xie would get caught by Xiaoge and Pangzi for sneakily buying game currency in LOL so he can buy skins? A: You can’t skimp on skins no matter how poor you are. Everyone understands this.
1611
Q: Sanshu, you have written about so many places in China, have you considered letting the Iron Triangle go tomb robbing overseas? A: I’ve written a movie script previously. The three of them were kidnapped and brought inside a pyramid. I was prepared to direct it myself but there was an Ebola outbreak right when the filming site in West Sahara finished construction.
1611
Q: I’ll post this again. Lei, can you invite the original singer to perform Three Days of Silence next year? People go to the bathroom three times (T/N: this is the proverb meaning to visit a place persistently until you get the result you want), why don't you go to the bathroom three hundred times. After all, there’s still more than 300 days till the next 817.
A: I visit once per day? Won’t it make me look like a loan shark?
1613
Q: When will this Q&A end?
A: It won’t end. I will answer at any time.
1613
Q: Shu, you’ve previously said that you’ll slowly delete the drafts on your public account. Can you not delete them? I really like to read the drafts over and over again.
A: There isn’t enough space. There’s too many [drafts]. Even if I don’t delete them, you can’t find them either.
1615
Q: If Zhang Qiling could only say one sentence to Wu Xie in this lifetime, what would he say?
A: I can only say one sentence to you in this lifetime, go get paper and pencil, I’m going to start saying this sentence and try my best to not stop and tell you everything that I can say, don’t interrupt me, let’s see how long I can make this sentence, now listen up, Wu Xie, my plan is goes like this bla bla bla bla bla—
1616
Q: Do you think that you can write better than you have previously? Or has that best feeling stage passed? A: I can go back [to that state], but I will go insane. Once I go insane, I will hurt everyone, including you all.
1618
Q: Shu, I think you wrote the best when you were in the psychiatry hospital. Can you trouble yourself and fulfill us and go there again? A: Here comes the crazy guy.
1620
Q: I’m praying for Shu to get Tianshou today and update nonstop.
A: Once the Tianshou ends, there’s a great probability that I will go to Liuheta (T/N: a culture park in Hangzhou, West Lake area) and run around naked.
1623
Q: What were the first impressions Zhang Qiling and Wu Xie had of each other?
A: Wu: Wah, it’s a show off. Zhang: Looks like there’s a layman on the team.
1624
Q: Man crush, if you were to choose a birthplace in DMBJ, would you choose the Golmud Sanatorium or the Bronze Gate?
A: Are these birth places? What is my mom thinking?
1629
Q: Which one do you like more; going to work or going to jail? Can you write while you’re in jail or write while you’re at work?
A: What’s the difference?
1631
Q: Shu, what do you think ZHH means to you?
A: I was suffering a lot when I wrote ZHH. It was before my mental breakdown. I went crazy after finishing it.
60 questions in! /laid flat on the ground. Only 60 questions in... and the list keeps getting longer. On one hand, I kinda regret spacing these out so much but on the other hand... I need something to fill my days between the ZHH updates. Maybe I'll do double updates tomorrow! Who Knows!

26 for either pingxie or poly iron trianle please?
26: a kiss…as an apology.
silly little pingpangxie ficlet, coming right up!
-
They’re covered in marble dust, flakes of leaf litter, and far too many streaks of dark something that Pangzi, frankly, doesn’t want to think about, because nothing good comes of dark streaks from tombs. “One of these days,” he complains, laying flat on his back and having less than no desire to get up, staring at the glinting stars visible through the foliage overhead, “I’m going to get some horrifying disease from these places, and inflict some long-dormant virus on the unsuspecting population of the entire country because of it. No, the entire continent. You mark my words, Tianzhen! I told you so!”
By his side, there’s the faint sound of shuffling leaf litter. “Pangzi,” Wu Xie says, placating. “It’s not that bad.”
“Xiaoge, give him the Look,” Pangzi commands. “Bastard doesn’t take mine seriously anymore.” Also, his limbs are aching from the flat out sprint they’d been subjected to as the three of them had narrowly fled the collapsing tomb nipping at their heels.
Wu Xie makes a sound of protest. “No, don’t,” he says. There’s the sound of shifting at a little distance—Xiaoge sitting up, his shadow falling long and pale across the two of them, still laying down. “Pangzi, tell him not to—ah, hell, Xiaoge, don’t look at me like that…” Wu Xie’s voice goes weak at the end; Xiaoge’s Looks are a force to be reconned with. Big, dark brown eyes, an expression that goes from jade to soulful. Pangzi almost feels bad for him—but only almost. “Pangzi,” Wu Xie pleads, his demeanour already showing cracks, “come on, please? I swear I didn’t mean for you to almost get bitten by those weird fish!”
“And yet my ass remembers,” Pangzi says, archly. “Scars, Tianzhen, scars. For life. Who’s going to look at this old body and think scars like that come from anything worth glorying?”
“The two of us are the only ones who’ll see your ass,” Wu Xie mutters. “Narcissus. Ah, Xiaoge, I’m saying da-ge, I’m saying da-ge, let me live!”
Xiaoge makes a patent noncommittal hum. Wu Xie lets out an overly dramatic whine, and then there’s more rustling leaf litter, and then Wu Xie is scooting into an awkward cuddle up against Pangzi. The line of him is warm, comforting; familiar. Even annoyed as he is, Pangzi can’t help but turn in towards it, just a bit. And, well, then Wu Xie levers himself up into an awkward bending position and kisses him, and that’s even nicer, soft lips and that puppyish charm he’s never quite managed to lose. “I’m not letting you off that easy,” Pangzi mutters against his lips when he pulls back.
In response, Wu Xie blinks down at him. “Even if I say I’m sorry?” he says, and kisses Pangzi again, which, Pangzi would point out, isn’t an actual apology, except his mouth is too busy with the weight of Wu Xie, and his mind is too busy with the recognition of the weight of Xiaoge’s gaze on them, hungry.
When he finally pulls back, Pangzi means to make him apologise properly. Instead, he gets a glimpse of Xiaoge’s expression, and any mock haughtiness flies out the window. “We’ve been teasing our poor Xiaoge’r,” he says, and finally sits up; nudges at Wu Xie. “Go on, don’t keep the man waiting.”
Wu Xie brightens. “So you’re forgiving me?”
“We’ll see,” Pangzi says, aiming for stern and, probably, not hitting the mark. Ah, well. “Get. I want a turn with him too; if you wait, I won’t hold back.”

Let's Talk About PingXie: Part 3
PingXie Fanfiction Vocabulary
Or "Some Words in PingXie Fanfiction That Can't Be Translated Properly by MTL" XD
Here is a list of words that I found interesting, and occasionally appeared in PingXie fanworks. Some of these words, I couldn't find the exact equivalent in English, so excuse me for the long explanation. My friend helped me but my knowledge is still limited (^~^;)ゞ
It's not a complete list (and kinda random). Please note that they are mostly used in PingXie/DMBJ fandom, I don't know about other fandoms. I may add some more, if I find it again.
【1】 窗户纸 (mtl: window paper) : it's like a trope where they're being so ambiguous and the status of their relationship may not be revealed, but everyone also knows that they are lovers. It's a special connotation of symbolic objects in Chinese culture, refers to two people who have a very deep love but did not confess to each other, their feelings are hidden in the heart. Other people also know that their relationship is similar to lovers but they did not say it. It's like a layer of window paper has not been pierced.
【2】 捅窗户纸 (mtl: pierce the window paper) : it's almost the same as the previous one, but they come to the realization of their feelings and confess to each other. They end up together, become lovers.
【3】 论坛体/直播体 (mtl: forum body/live broadcast body) : something like Social Media AU, but it's often on the forum instead or written in forum style.
【4】 竹马 (mtl: bamboo horse) : a male childhood friend
【5】 校草 (mtl: school grass/school bully) : the most handsome boy in the school
【6】 沙雕 (mtl: sand sculpture) : funny and silly
【7】 骨科 (mtl: orthopedics) : incest
【8】 伪骨科 (mtl: pseudo-orthopedics) : they are brothers but not real siblings
【9】 清水 (mtl: clear water) : no description of s*xual activities
【10】 破镜重圆 (reunited after a broken mirror) : they meet again after separation which is usually not in a good way/unreconciled
【11】 本传 (mtl: biography) : refers to the main story of DMBJ
【12】 杭州名木/杭州著名木头 or 吴邪,杭州一块有名的木头 (mtl: Wu Xie, a famous piece of wood in Hangzhou) : it's like comparing Wu Xie to the wood, because he is being oblivious and insensitive, he doesn't notice that Zhang Qiling loves him haha. There is a meme based on this lol.
Meme source: I forgot where I got it, but there's a watermark in it. The picture on the right is translated using mtl with some corrections, sorry for my poor translation (๑•﹏•)
【13】 铁木真/铁・木・真 (tiě mù zhēn/temujin) : it's not Genghis Khan here, it's a pun or a joke about Wu Xie. It's like the previous one, but added one more element.
"铁" (tl: steel/iron) for "钢铁直男" means he is a straight man of steel
"木" (tl: wood) for "杭州著名木头" means he is the famous wood in Hangzhou
"真" for "天真" Wu Xie's "Tiānzhēn"
【14】白月光 "bái yuèguāng" (mtl: white moonlight) : the first love that can't be forgotten
【15】 吴山四美 "wúshān sì měi" : four beauties of Wushan(ju)—Wu Xie, Zhang Qiling, Xie Yuchen, Hei Xiazi
【16】 嫩牛五方 "nèn niú wǔ fāng" : a group of five people—Wu Xie, Zhang Qiling, Pangzi, Xie Yuchen, Hei Xiazi
【17】 挨千刀 (mtl: suffer a thousand cuts) : it is used to scold someone, but it is not insulting them. Its tone is more into worried rather than being angry. For example, Wu Xie complains "挨千刀的闷油瓶" in his heart, it sounds like he uses a spoiled tone to show his annoyance.
【18】 醋[瓶] (mtl: vinegar) : jealous [Zhang Qiling]
【19】 墨水[瓶] (mtl: ink) : a slight dark [Zhang Qiling]
【20】 排雷 (mtl: demining) : a setting that you should pay attention before reading, usually it is unacceptable for most people.
【21】 黑金古刀 (mtl: black gold ancient sword/black gold ancient knife) : Xiaoge's sword
【22】 大白狗腿 (mtl: big white dog legs) : Wu Xie's dagger
【23】 发丘指 (mtl: hair mound finger/Faqiu finger) : Zhang Qiling's two long fingers
【24】 哥嫂 : brother and sister-in-law, refers to Zhang Qiling (哥) and Wu Xie (嫂)
【25】 吃软饭 "chī ruǎn fàn" (mtl: eat soft rice) : a slang that means men rely on women to survive
【26】 吃豆腐 (mtl: eating tofu) : something like taking advantage of others, teasing or flirting, etc.
【27】 PA : parody
⚠️ NSFW Terms ⚠️
【28】 脐橙 (mtl: navel orange) : a wordplay of "骑乘" which means r*ding
【29】 水煎 (mtl: boiled water/water decoction) : a word play for "睡奸" which means somn*philia
【30】 Doi : same as ML (from English "do" and "i" from Chinese "Love" (爱 "ài")
【31】 双龙 (mtl: double dragon) : a man gets r*ped by two other men at the same time, in this case, it has the same meaning as "两瓶一邪" (both of the 2 Zhang Qiling, 1 Wu Xie).
【32】 爆炒/炒 (mtl: stir-fry/fried) : erotic content/explicit s*xual content
【33】 QJ : r*pe
【34】 XP : s*xual fetish
【35】 SP : sp*nking
Some of them courtesy of 小粉蛇 (PinkSnake). Thank you for all the help!🌹

"Oh my god, is this really a situation worthy of the moping-hoodie?"
"Yes! Yes, it is," Wu Xie plopped down at the kitchen table and dramatically crossed his arms. "I'm tired of people telling me I should date Xiaoge, it gets awkward every time!"
"I don't know, Tianzhen, I think they might have a point." Wu Xie glared at Pangzi's back but the man kept on peacefully chopping vegetables. "You've got that whole bond thing going on, and you spend a lot of time staring at his abs whenever his shirt is off."
"Everyone stares at his abs, they're objectively perfect."
"Fair enough," Pangzi conceded with a shrug. "What about your important bond though? That sounds pretty intense every time you bring it up."
Wu Xie sank into his chair and pulled up his hood. Then he lowered it again, realizing that the instinctual gesture was very much like the one Xiaoge did when he was uncomfortable. Pangzi hadn't seen it but he sure would have commented on it if he had, Wu Xie was sure about that.
"It is intense. But it's not dating, it's just… different," he said, twirling one of the strings of his hoodie around a finger. "I don't really want to dress fancy and go to dinner with him, I don't want to send him a good morning text every day, I don't want to kiss him. Sure, getting him to hug more would be nice but-"
"But that's why you've got me! I’m always ready to hug my poor, misunderstood Tianzhen," Pangzi intervened. He left his spot at the counter for a moment to give Wu Xie a one-armed hug, putting a brief smile back on his face.
"Yeah, exactly. The thing is… we're fine as we are. We’re there for each other when it counts. Nothing else is needed, we've figured out where we stand."
"Alright then, that's good," Pangzi said, picking the next vegetable from the basket he'd brought from the market. "I was just making sure."
It was quiet for a few moments, the rhythmic tac tac tac of the knife against the cutting board a soothing sound that filled the evening.
"But seriously, you don't wanna kiss him even a little bit?"
"PANGZI!"
"I'm just saying-!"
Wu Xie huffed, throwing his hands up in the air and almost sliding off the chair in disappointment.
"You're unbelievable. If you keep bringing this up, I’m going to start believing you're the one who wants to kiss Xiaoge!"
The chopping stopped. The kitchen became dead quiet. Wu Xie rewinded his words in his mind and then slowly but surely turned to stare at Pangzi's back.
"Pangzi," he said quietly, watching the big man's shoulders go tense. "Do you want to kiss Xiaoge?"
The silence was damning.
"HAH!" Wu Xie's chortling filled the kitchen as Pangzi turned towards him, his face as red as the chili peppers that were going into their food.
"Shut up, Tianzhen! What do you even know about these things?"
"Not a lot, but you sure aren’t an expert either! Thinking that I wanted to date Xiaoge when all this time you…!"
Wu Xie started laughing again, clutching his belly as it ached with cramps.
"Tianzhen!" Pangzi hissed, half crawling all over Wu Xie to try and put a hand over his mouth. "You quit yapping right now, Xiaoge could hear you!"
"You wanna kiss him soooo bad! Ow!" Wu Xie yelped, clutching his shoulder. "You idiot, you poked me with the knife!"
"Serves you ri- OUCH! Tianzhen, did you just bite me?"
"So what if I did, huh?"
"You rabid beast, I'll show you!"
As bickering and sounds of a brawl filled the kitchen, quiet footsteps went unheard in the hallway just outside. Xiaoge put his boots back on with expert ease and soon he was out into the night, headed towards the trio's favourite take-away restaurant. From the sounds of it, dinner wouldn't be ready any time soon.
He walked with a single objective in mind but still, he couldn't help but raise a hand to his own lips and wonder what it would feel like to be kissed.

Pangzi wears Xiaoge as a backpack I HAVE TOO MANY FEELINGS ONLY PANGYE CAN CONTAIN THEM ALL:
He first does it on the way out of the desert, the sun scorching their combined backs and the air bitterly cold. Xiaoge keeps his back shaded, and Pangzi keeps Xiaoge's front warm. He's too light; his wrists dangle down like driftwood wind chimes, but he's warm and breathing.
Pangzi puts his emptied pack back on over Xiaoge, and pulls the straps tight. Ahead of them, Wu Xie slogs doggedly along the path picked out by his compass, and Pangzi puts his head down and walks.
Xiaoge breathes cool air over his sweaty neck and the fabric trapped between them grows sodden with their combined body heat. At the edges, where sweat wicks into exposed cotton, the wind chills it instantly to ice. Pangzi can't tell if that's a relief from the burning heat, or the worst shit he's ever felt. He spends way too long thinking about it, one foot in front of the other, trudging onwards towards the camp Wu Xie insists exists.
He hopes Xiaoge doesn't mind having Pangzi's sweat on him; there's no way the Great Zhang Qiling is sweating. Hah!
---
The second time is soon enough after the first that Pangzi wonders whether Xiaoge was awake enough to remember that journey, because Xiaoge fits himself onto Pangzi's back like he is a backpack.
He's exhausted, mildly feverish, and only got off the tubes and monitors a day ago. Pangzi should not have brought him out to the gardens without a wheelchair to haul him back after. But he'd needed to see Xiaoge amongst green and growing things, and he was right; Xiaoge had come alive with plants to molest with his Zhang fingers. He'd even taken his slippers off before walking on the grass, so now Pangzi has to deal with pale green stains on his trousers, where Xiaoge's feet brush against the white fabric.
"Hup we go..." He warns, and Xiaoge curls tighter over his shoulders, bony elbows jabbing his collarbones as though Xiaoge's joints are just suggestions rather than actual rules. Bony and boneless, please make your mind up, Xiaoge.
He feels Xiaoge's sigh against the back of his neck, then the press of a sharp nose against the muscles between neck and shoulder; it was too much input, Pangzi should have known it would be. Back to the quiet room in the stroke ward he goes, Xiaoge's slippers dangling from his fingers and the man himself doing half the work of holding on to Pangzi's back.
Experimentally, Pangzi lightens his grip on Xiaoge's thighs, and the grip only gets firmer.
He lets go completely, and Xiaoge hold himself in place without problem.
"Hah! I'm one big mamma, and you're a baby monkey, ah?" He jokes, putting his hands back under Xiaoge's knees so the poor man can rest a bit. Xiaoge sighs heavily and goes limp as a sand bag.
"Alright, alright, this way..."
He gets a few strange looks, and is challenged by a security guard, but the band on Xiaoge's wrist is as good as a passport, and back they go.
---
The third time, Xiaoge isn't even ill.
As far as Pangzi can tell, and he's getting good at this hazy-eyed version of their Xiaoge, he's just grumpy. Their walk through the old streets of the antiques district had been peppered with quiet announcements about fake goods, and Pangzi had had to stop Xiaoge telling the whole market about it. They couldn't take that kind of heat! And Xiaoge didn't have a sword!
He'd been able to tell at a glance, in most cases, and occasionally with a touch, and apparently he had been restraining himself for their entire acquaintance, because the twist of his lip at the worst of the forgeries is hilarious. And going to get them both beaten straight out of the market.
He gets mulish about leaving, and Pangzi off-handedly threatens to carry him back to his shop and put him up in the window for sale, at which point Xiaoge climbs onto his back and hunkers there like a barnacle.
His hood brushes against Pangzi's freshly clipped undercut, and he feels the brush of eyelashes against the skin of the back of his neck, and Xiaoge goes tense all over in a shiver, then lax again.
Pangzi grabs him under his knees, hefts him up a little, and accepts that technically he did offer.

@victorian-pirate you that love Shen Wei and Xiaoge, psh psh psh, here, have some feelings @sagittariusdarkarrow @meluci-fer @tazzy-ace @ohmyitsfaith
I'm completely taken with another DMBJ/Guardian idea. It goes like this:
In this continuity Xiaoge doesn't ask for mortality and accepts the fate of inevitably outliving his friends.
A couple of decades after Wu Xie's passing Xiaoge joins some tomb-raiding mission. Something goes horribly wrong and a curse basically shatters his already fragile consciousness. Since he's no longer of use, the team just leaves him.
Almost a week later, when the unleashed curse has caused enough problems to ping the SIB's and the Ghost Slayer's radar, Shen Wei finds him. He's starved, dehydrated and basically catatonic.
Leaving him in this state is not an option. Shen Wei has two choices: end him quickly or save him. The former, 'thanks' to the curse, would mean that the broken wisps of his soul scatter for good and Zhang Qiling ceases to be. Helping him equals to taking him home, since at this point he has no one to care for him, bar the currently unreachable Glasses.
So, choices are made, and when Zhao Yunlan comes home that day he finds a slowly blinking heap of blankets on the couch, and his husband on a quest to re-assemble Xiaoge's soul.
#this the guardian x dmbj crossover fandom we talk about sirs#LOOK AT THIS#you should write that down too Fixa#our poor Xiaoge#guardian x dmbj crossover#xiaoge#shen wei

seriously ororon in genshin impact reminds me so much of xiaoge in the lost tomb series/daomu biji I just instanlty fell in love with the character
like look at this dude! he's just a poor little baby who takes care of cute animals and grows vegetables in his little garden. just like xiaoge who also looks all edgy and cold but actually has one of the kindest heart and is trying to looking after everyone else
#genshin impact#ororon#xiaoge#dmbj#i know these fandoms don't really overlap but i had to share my thoughts somewhere#i'm going crazy with my feelings of maternal protectiveness towards these fictional characters

a present for the much loved @sunriseverse
have some imperfect fem iron triangle cuddles! as a treat!!!
Wu Xie wakes up with a face full of tit. Usually, this would be a delight! Except Wu Xie can't breathe, made all the worse by the fact that Pangzi is half laying on top of her, pressing down her chest with her not-insignificant heft. Whenever she imagined suffocating to death in a tomb, she has to admit, she never expected breasts to be involved... which, when you put it that way, is not a bad way to go.
Not the point. The point is she's asphyxiating.
With no small amount of effort, she manages to shove Pangzi off her enough that she can gulp down air, her poor broken lungs wheezing from the effort. Pangzi doesn't wake up, just shifts away from the pushing, the arm she has thrown over Wu Xie dragging her closer. She can't move but at least she can breathe.
On her other side, she can feel Xiaoge move just the tiniest amount. The sound must have woken her up, but she doesn't turn from where she's laying facing chamber they set up camp in, still monitoring their surroundings, clearly trusting Wu Xie not to die in such a pathetic way. Wu Xie extends an arm, pressing the side of it against the length of Xiaoge's spine, a quiet acknowledgement. She doesn't expect anything in return, so she's surprised when Xiaoge scoots in closer, pressing her back to Wu Xie, letting the curve of it rest in the soft angle of Wu Xie's side. It pins Wu Xie's arm, essentially immobilized. Wu Xie huffs out a laugh. They have her thoroughly trapped. What a perfect place to be.
-
Pangzi's wives are the biggest heat leeches of all time, Pangzi is sure of it. During the winter, they steal all of Pangzi's blankets and sweaters, give her big sad cow eyes until she makes them tea and soup, and glue themselves to her side at any given moment. Even on the coldest days, Pangzi has a nice layer of insulation that keeps her warmer than the others, but more than that she just runs hot naturally. Xiaoge and Wu Xie take full advantage of it throughout the day, but it's the worst at night.
Pangzi is the only one with something approximating a bedtime (she's old, leave her alone) while her partners tend to stay up late, Wu Xie with her books and Xiaoge enjoying time outside or in her various nooks around the property. Pangzi gets in, laying dead center on the bed on her back, and waits. She doesn't have to wait long, however, because, sure enough, five minutes later she hears them scurrying around in the bathroom and closet. She feels both sides of the blanket lift and the bed dip and Pangzi just sighs and opens her arms, an invitation that is swiftly taken advantage of. They cuddle up on either side of her, pressing their cold skin to hers. Wu Xie tangles her freezing feet with Pangzi's, having not even bothering with socks like a inconsiderate ass she is. Pangzi traps them between her calves to warm them up and Wu Xie wiggles her toes.
Xiaoge is like a heat sink, always nearly unnaturally cold-- sometimes to a degree that worries Pangzi. She shoves her icicle hands against Pangzi, one stuck between Pangzi's back and the mattress, the other up her shirt, tucked under the swell of her breast. Her skin breaks out into goosebumps, freezing, and she groans.
"Menaces, the both of you. Can't you leave your poor wife to rest peacefully for once?"
Despite her complaints, she wraps her arms tight around the both of them, pulling them in close, and lets them steal all the warmth they can stand. They can have it all.
-
It's been a long, exhausting week. It isn't often that Xiaoge goes off on her own since the they're "retired" but sometimes she just needs to get away. She loves her partners deeply but they can also be a lot, so she keeps thinking this will be a solution. But they're hers, and every time she leaves she always finds herself immediately yearning for home.
She gets back in the middle of the night, dusty, tired, and grumpy. her only thought is to drag herself to bed and sleep off the long trip. She kicks out of her boots at the door, already hearing Pangzi's much-loved naggy voice complaining about her tracking her tomb stained footprints around the house. But instead of that frustrating her further she only feels warm. She missed Pangzi, she missed both of them, and the reminder that they are near is enough to lift her spirits, even if just the tiniest bit. The house is silent and dark and something in her settles in the peaceful stillness of her home. (Home, she still thinks with no small amount of wonder, she has a home, now.) She pads through the house in socked feet, making a beeline for the bedroom.
Bundled up under the blankets are the two people she loves most in the world. They're tangled only loosely, Wu Xie having flung herself to the side in her sleep and Pangzi not having pulled her back in like an octopus yet. Xiaoge stares at the space between the two of them with such intense longing. Perhaps... Stripping quickly, she climbs into bed, wiggling and squirming until she is under the blanket, contorting her body so he can fit in the little space without bothering the two of them. It's so warm and perfect. She thinks it couldn't get better than this, being so close. Pangzi proves her wrong.
"Xiaoge'r," she slurs, flopping onto her side, arm flung around Xiaoge, pulling her close against her chest. It's heaven. There is only one way it could be better... and then Pangzi is grabbing Wu Xie by the far shoulder, tugging her so she flops on top over against Xiaoge's other side, in what is technically a spoon but is really just a lean. Despite clearly still being asleep, Wu Xie presses a clumsy kiss to the back of her neck. It's everything she could ever want and more.

Hils Watches Tibetan Sea Flower - Ep 27
Calling it now. It was him dressed as Xiaoge.
This is the second drama I've watched where someone keeps the body of their wife in an ice coffin in an ice cave. Do people just have those lying around in case of the untimely death of their spouse?
Oh I wonder who it could have been
*pretends to be shocked*
I knew he was faking!
And that explains where Pangzi was
Aww now I'm thinking about that scene in Sha Hai 😭
I'm not sure they needed to look through the hole in the key to find the switch when it's just out there in the open like this. I thought it was buried under the ice!
Poor Wu Xie sure does get blown up a lot
I love them so much
Did he just vomit blood because he's really sad? I thought that just happened in wuxia dramas

Tomb of the Sea (Sha Hai) Episode 1-2
Spoilers
Episode 1
Sure hes dead.
I mean, this guy got kidnapped but that's beside the point.
Throwing books out a window.
Come on dude, leave her alone.

Abusive dad.
Oh eww, come on really?
Not sus at all.
Chill dude, she hugged him, you where watching them with laser vision like the creepy stalker you are you saw that she hugged him.
Some kind of slime, that poked him.
Mad lock picking btw.
Playing 'Run Boy Run' by Woodkid
Hello Wu Xie.
Episode 2
Poor kid, from his perspective he just get kidnapped bu the mafia or mafia adjacent.
Which, from my understanding, is correct.
"I don't give a shit about that man." "Good, then I'll take care of him for you." (Kill him)
Fucken brutal, I love it.
Everything about him is brutal.
I'm actually not taking nearly as many notes usual or in detail, because I'm getting caught up and forgetting to.
HAHAHAHAHA
I know it's not San Shu but my immediate first thought was-
sAN sHu wHAt thE fUCK
I was laughing for a good five to ten minutes.
"I am a photographer, I want to photograph things that are different"
Later.
"Right now I'll teach you a tip on how to survive in this world" "I don't want to know, I am a person who will become an architect in the future"
I then proceeded to not take anymore notes for the rest of the episode except for
Fucking shit up in the restaurant
Xiaoge💕
And
I get the feeling we're not going to see much of him.
I'm also getting the feeling that this series of liveblogs is going to be one of the more sparse ones, probably because of how caught up I'm getting in it.
