After Undivided I feel like Connor would have very bad self-esteem - I mean wouldn't every unwind, deemed unwanted by the government and their families? But like even worse than the first three books. He has constantly been idolized for just trying to survive and now his Akron AWOL persona and his face are plastered on ads and t-shirts. He is the face of the revolution and the person who spoke at the capitol. The Admiral spent millions of dollars on buying him back from Divan. All of these people have sacrificed things for him or looked up to him for one reason or another. Wouldn't he question why? Would he doubt his self-worth as he does in the first book when Risa asked him why he doesn't just tell people he's the Akron AWOL. He responded like this, "I wouldn't want to disappoint them." He believes he is not good enough for people's (often unreasonable) expectations.

Hoshie is probably THE most tragical character out of the franchise and nobody ever speaks about her and only about the men. She too lost her son, was forced too early to have to move on from him because her husband's grief worked like that and he imposed it on everybody, yet she truly grew to love his replacement for being his own person and lost him too when it turned out it wasn't enough for her husband's mourning process after all and died without seeing him again after having seen him being a slave and being unable to do anything about it and getting disgusting by the man she loved. She died alone, believed to be crazy and delirious, and heartbroken, maybe literally if her heart attack was due to broken heart syndrome

And I'm so fucking mad Atom the Beginning makes her an afterthought to just focus on original characters and the guy scientists, that was the opportunity to develop her and her romance with her husband further and make her outcome even more tragic, but noooo we can't have nice things

This page is so heartbreaking in multiple ways, this is trauma in a page

First, baldur mentions he tried to unalive himself A HUNDRED AND TWENTY NINE TIMES. A HUNDRED?? AND TWENTY NINE TIMES??? 129?? That is a LOT. The number isn't even the main thing, the concept of him trying SO HARD to get rid of his curse, even if that means giving his life away, is so heartbreaking and explains how much he suffered when he was cursed.

Second, he mentions how badly the presence of Freya affects him on a daily basis. Whether he's around her or not, he feels TORMENTED by her. The way you could see his hatred face the moment he realized Freya was there with Kratos and Atreus; that's just insane. Imagine not being able to stand a person - especially your own mom, the woman who gave birth to you - to the point you want to die just to not feel their presence on your body or your soul.

That is CRAZY.

Third, Baldur implies he would LOVE to become a father.

At first when you read the sentence you think it's just a way to remind her of how badly she affected him, but when you read it the second time you actually realize he implies it. Baldur would love having a child of his own, but ONCE AGAIN the curse his own mom gave him stops him from following this dream of his. This is definitely the most heartbreaking part, because (in my head, this is not in the book or anything) I feel like baldur would want to take care of his kid the OPPOSITE way baldur's parents took care of him. Freya traumatized him and basically gave him a free pass to dangerous forms of insanity, and Odin took advantage of it and made Baldur his little puppet.

Give this man a second to breathe.
