Bucky read the report you made. His expression was unreadable. He closed the book and said, “Thank you. I’m satisfied with your work.” He said it as if he finally got the answer he wanted. He added, “I’ve got all I need.”

His eyes looked at the ground as if he were deep in thought. Then he returned to his cheerful demeanor and looked at his watch. “Let’s go home, it’s already late. Tom has called many times because he can’t get through to you.”

After he said that, you quickly grabbed your phone and saw the notifications of 20 missed calls from your dad. You scratched your head, realizing this was the consequence of being too focused on work, forgetting to eat or sleep.

As you headed back to your car, Natasha blocked your way. “Stop what you’re doing.”

“Why?” you asked, crossing your arms. “Why should I listen to you?”

Natasha’s face hardened. “This isn’t your business.”

You couldn’t believe her audacity. Did her ears clog with earwax when Bucky told everyone he hired you? Of course, it was your business since you were hired as an auditor in this hotel. You ignored her, got into your car, and left.

Watching the sports car get farther away, Natasha clenched her fists. She felt terrible, especially knowing that you were more successful than her. The sports car, the designer clothes, and the expensive bag you carried—gosh, she hated it.

She felt her phone vibrate. She saw the caller ID and hesitated to answer. When she finally did, her voice trembled. “I think…” She took a deep breath and released it. “Bucky has found out.”

The next day, you woke up and went to Bronze Lodge again. This time, you were grateful that Natasha wasn't there. Such a great way to start your day.

As you headed to your office to continue your work, you heard someone call your name. You turned around and saw a man waving at you excitedly. He wore a blue shirt, light brown pants, and a tie. He came closer and pointed at himself with a happy smile. “Do you remember me?”

“Jake Jensen,” you nodded.

“I heard a rumor that you’re back. I thought it was a lie. Glad to see you, old friend. Do you want to grab lunch together later?” Jake asked.

You politely declined, “I’ll have to say no. I have to fix the lousy job of the previous auditor.”

“Oh, right. Yeah, the previous one didn’t work at all. Next time then,” Jake said before leaving.

You smiled awkwardly and quickly entered your office, closing the door behind you. You peeked through the blinds, making sure Jake was gone. With a sigh of relief, you sat down at your desk.

You declined his lunch invitation because you made boundaries after what he did to you.

You and Jake were friends in high school, but "friends" didn’t fit. He was more of a classmate with whom you shared some things in common—both of you were nerds and outcasts.

But the difference between you and him was that you didn’t mind being a loner. Jake, however, desperately wanted to join Bucky’s group, where the popular kids gathered. He thought there was a chance because a guy like Steve was in that group.

What makes Steve different is that he and Bucky are childhood friends. And Steve's mom used to be Bucky's nanny.

Jake tried so hard to be cool but always failed. You wanted to feel bad for him, but you couldn’t because of what he did that made Natasha and her group act like jerks toward you.

One day, when you entered the classroom, Natasha and her minions confronted you, accusing you of being a snitch. You didn’t understand what they were talking about until your teacher said, “I’m glad you saw what they did on the last exam. I’m surprised Natasha and her friends could give answers like that.”

Then it hit you. No wonder Natasha was mad at you; you were seated next to her. But you knew you didn’t tell your teacher about her cheating. You knew who the real snitch was.

It was Jake.

He sat at the back, where he could see everything. He was the one who told the teacher. He then told Natasha’s friend that you had informed the teacher, and her friend told Natasha. Jake did it so Natasha would feel like she owed him and invite him into the group. But she didn’t, and Jake’s plan was futile.

Since then, you have never trusted him. Even now.

You continued working until you heard a knock on the door. Thinking it must be Bucky, you called out, “Enter,” without even bothering to lift your head. But it wasn’t him.

“I see that you’re busy,” a voice said.

You looked up and were shocked to see the mayor of the town, Mayor Martin Reynolds, standing before you.

“Good morning, sir,” you greeted him, trying to mask your surprise.

“I won’t bother you for too long. I just want to tell you something,” Mayor Martin said.

“Yes?” you replied, feeling a sense of unease.

He rested his hand on your table, crumpling some of your papers in the process. The tension in the room grew as he leaned closer and said, “Stop what you’re doing and leave everything.” Then, without another word, he left.

You were stunned. What’s going on? Why were Natasha and the mayor of the town both telling you to stop?

Did both of them know about the money embezzlement?

Because of what Mayor Martin said to you, you lost your focus. Bucky didn’t come to visit you either, so you decided to go home early after work.

You headed to a diner for dinner. It was crowded, and the only empty seat was at the counter. You ordered some food and waited.

A moment later, another customer sat beside you. It was Steve.

You ignored him and looked at your phone.

“I’ve talked to my dad, and I’ve sent an application to art school,” Steve said.

“Hmmm…” you replied noncommittally.

Steve continued, “I hope I can leave this town just like you. This town is too greedy.”

‘Greedy?’ That word caught your attention. You turned to him, surprising him slightly that you finally acknowledged him. “What do you mean by greedy?” you asked, curiosity piqued.

Steve was slightly surprised you wanted to talk to him; he answered, “This town’s full of greedy people. It’s all power and money. I need to get out.”

Hello hello! I hope you're having an amazing day! If not then I hope your day gets better!! I like to think I'm a friendly person! When meeting people for the first time I'm very polite, though I can be a bit awkward sometimes when socializing but I do my best! With friends though I'm very silly and playful, I like to tease friends, mainly bringing up a slightly embarrassing story that I know we will all laugh together about. I'm very nice (maybe a little too much for my own good) and somewhat smart. I like to play along with the whole "aCTUalLY 🤓👆👓" skit because it gets a good giggle or two both from friends and myself. You could say I'm a bit of the mom friend? I stay observant when with friends, make sure no one is left out or if someone's having a bit of a rough day I stay mindful and check up on them if they need anything or just a simple shoulder to lean on/ear to talk to. Overall I'm a very bubbly person that likes to be silly at times! (Sorry I'm very bad at describing what kind of person I am 😔)

The things that I like: I am a very big book worm. I have a good pile of books on my desk that I absolutely adore, though they're mainly fantasy romance books (I'm a big sucker for those). I also ADORE the rain! From the sound it makes to how it smells just makes me go kind of feral. I also really love the ocean! If I could, I'd really want to just float in the deep blue or go exploring through underwater caves or shipwrecks (to live the mermaid dream 😔😔 CLEORR OH NAUR). I also do a bit of writing myself and dabble in video gaming!

Ms. Scatter works as Mr. V's assistant during the Villain Recruitment Program, or the Six Pose Dance Show in the Human World. Originally from our world, she loved fairy tales growing up and dreamed of being a princess. However, as she grew up, she learned life was not a fairy tale and that there was no magic that could make her life any different than it already was. 

She became a disgruntled office worker in Tokyo, Japan. One day, she wandered into an old antique shop that seemed to have popped up out of nowhere and she decided to take a look inside. Upon entering, she saw there was no one attending to the shop. As she looked around, she came upon an item that was covered by a white cloth. Curious, she removed the cloth to reveal a black mirror. Entranced, she touched the mirror and was transported to another world.

There, she met Mr. V, Ms. Villa, and Mr. Polite, who eagerly welcomed her. They explained to her that she was no longer in the Human World, but in the World of Fairy Tales. More precisely, the land where villains lived. They explained that the residents of this world could only interact with the Human World for one night, Halloween, as that is when magic is at its peak. Or when there was a powerful magic item in the Human World that could connect the two worlds together.

Mr. V gave her the option to go back to her regular life, but after taking some time to consider it, Ms. Scatter decided to stay and become his assistant in the Recruitment Program. He was surprised by her decision and took her under his wing.

Canon Lovers 👓 - devoted book 📕 enthusiasts who are completely 💯 on board for the book adaptation that they lovingly hold dear to their chest and when a mere mention of their beloved series being brought to life, expect no substitute, expect the writers to be gentle, truthful to the characters, the cast to be authentic and the directors to “do not fuck it up!” (all hail Ru Paul) these fans pour over their beloved book canon characters because of their dedication. Will openly send their angry script edits to the writers especially if it doesn’t follow the root path of the character or story direction.

Female lead only 💃 - these fans are the devoted woman only. They are either the hardened followers of a particular actress so will literally skip and hop from one show or movie after the other. Possibly only have seen their female heroine in 1 particular show/movie but will enthusiastically watch everything including their earlier work. Dismiss any make attention (their female is too good for any of those faceless, nameless clowns out there) more inclined to have their female, single, lots of cats, a book reader or an introvert who doesn’t go out much, doesn’t like public speaking…essentially a mirror image of themselves. Young or older. Strong independent woman like strong independent actresses who are environmentally vocal, politically sound and don’t need men in their lives to enrich them.

Male lead only 🧍‍♂️- these fans follow the root 1 & 2 of the female only, with 1 exception the make lead is very sexually driven. Yes he is the sexual drive to their fantasies - the fan base is hormonal driven, whereas the female fanbase is more independent thinking, more intellectually inclined - the male is more “see Jane, want Jane, conquer Jane” hypothesis. The lead becomes the object of their sexual fantasy; he’s always single, never with anyone unless it’s a one night stand, sexual hook up. There is the softer side, must love animals and children because that drives their parental instinct. Above all has to tick all their boxes either very shy and introverted or very outspoken, virile and versatile - likes to keep fit, of course muscles and tattoos add to their fantasy appeal. They want someone who doesn’t look like the man they married but someone they can get off on while trolling the internet looking for NSFW fan fiction.

Trolls 🧌- these hate filled, orange tainted, combination of all 3 (too much junk food) are what happens when you leave the light on, feed them after midnight and get them wet (with water that is) they dislike the male or female lead because they don’t just simply stick to the canon, just remain the characters and nothing else. They don’t want the female to appear attractive or sexual, raising eyebrows with revealing red carpet outfits. They most certainly do not want their male fantasy to have his eyes popped out by his female lead. They don’t want interaction between the two, instead they’ll ship (in their heads) any other actor in the movie or series except the attractive lead. They don’t want cutesy or giggly interaction, fan events, red carpet moments - they just want him or her attainable for their fantasies. They will scour the fandoms looking for blogs/comments relating to “moments” they deem inappropriate and will lay waste to receipts.instead through doxing & mining will create their own narrative. Elaborate story telling while playing the innocent fan (multi personality trolls have always been among fandoms) they will create connections ‘in the know’ pretend to be a protector of the two leads while feeding an underlying gossip world of misdirection & hate. Multiple accounts are created to entrap those willing to listen to their ‘dedication’ the troll likes to play both sides Angel 😇 & Devil 👿 because they absolutely love chaos.

Chaos in fandoms is their thrill. They need the fighting the bullying, the hatred because that makes them superior, the narcissism in all stokes the fires of division when they’re not bullying fans of the male or female with “they will never be together”

In my time being in various fandoms mainly due to the canon characters; JAG, Greys Anatomy, BTVS, Angel, Harry Potter, Bones, Twilight, Outlander… (yeah I’ve been around a very loooong time 😂 I have seen a lot. By comparison the latest fandom of twilight & outlander I’ve seen the distinct pattern of a few of the trolls move from one fandom to the other with the same troll like belief system and just attach it to the next male crush.

Deceased. A phonecall, a four hours up in the perch, a swig of coffee and one bullet between the eyes. That was all Mick needed to get the job done.

But what he hadn’t expected was Miss O’Cleary’s request to deliver his quarry to the dusty old mines. Nevertheless, he was never in the habit of asking questions; he understood her intention once he realised she was holding a shovel, anyway.

“So you’re buryin’ him, I take it?”

“I am, yes,” she huffed as she unloaded her equipment. Mick spied another gleam of steel out the boot of her little purple company car.

“Well, I’ll take one of those, then.” Before he could stop himself, he’d taken the spare in his hands.

“Uh, that wasn’t part of your…” She paused, startled.

“Nothin’ else to do,” he said casually. “I’m on my feet, and I could use the stretch.” It wasn’t a lie, and her grateful smile was more than ample payment.

“Thanks. Thankyou,” Miss O’Cleary replied, not wasting breath on polite refusals. Together, they set to digging a shallow grave and hauled the corpse unceremoniously into it, then filled the hole. After that was finished, his muscles ached sweetly.

He accepted a canister of water from Miss O’Cleary and drank, but when he tried to hand it back over, he found her wholly distracted, staring and transfixed.

The New Mexico sky was violet-hued as daybreak cut into night. It was the exact colour of her blouse, ill-fitting and stiff. Miss O’Cleary’s mouth fell open a second, as if she’d never seen it before. Maybe she hadn’t. Mick had, but he wasn’t looking at the sun.

Soon, It spilled a vicious blood-red, burnt to orange. That risky line of thinking pricked him again. Mick tore away his eyes with a frown. He’d dealt with many contractors over the span of his career, but had never been attracted to one before. He was beginning to wish Miss O’Cleary had stayed anonymous; a sweet voice with a name.

This wasn’t practical. It wasn’t realistic.

He’d have to think a little more on it first.

probably can chalk this second trope up to a constant diet of cdramas, where there's a lot of public conversations /metaphorical faceslapping while everyone is talking behind pointed smiles, dueling with etiquette and shades of polite words, and it's so so so so cool when another member of the otp shows up to defend!! their loved one!!! and have the social cachet to Win the conversation basically. im weak for it and i think matoba seiji is also very good at it but natori is no slouch either :)))
