Magical Trans Comfort Fest (AKA MT comfest) 2023!
For the third consecutive year, we are running the MT comfest! With new prompts, fresh out of the oven, we cannot wait to see what you'll offer the world! This fest is meant to provide comfort and a sense of community to those who might have a hard time during the holidays, and those who want to spread warmth during this time! Thank you @basicallyahedgehog for your beautiful graphics.
This is a very informal fest, so there is no hard deadline and you don’t have to sign up– all you have to do is create your work, and then post it into the collection once it’s open! The rules are the same as last year– above all, we ask for respect and kindness in both creating and interacting with this fest. Your creation must also have a positive tone, be an HP work, be thoroughly tagged, and contain at least one trans character. Works can be mature or explicit as long as they are tagged appropriately and the creator is over 18. You do not have to be part of the server to participate, though we’d love for you to join!
You can produce whatever you feel comfortable with, whether it be a drabble, a long one-shot, a doodle, a time-consuming fanart, a podfic, a collage, a fic-bind, a headcanon post… whatever you want!
The fest will run for three days and we are providing prompts for inspiration, but feel free to pick and choose or completely ignore them if you have other ideas! The collection will be opened closer to the date of publishing. In the meantime, feel free to check out the great works from last year’s fest!
You might have peeked two sets of prompts earlier on this post. For extra spiciness, we got you another entire new set of prompts! We have the regular prompts, and same as last year, they can be combined or used on their own. Then you have the dual prompts, who go together and don't bear really well to be separeted. Have fun!
December 23: Euphoria - Board games - Holiday T4tree - Fringe cutting - Spices & boats December 24: Ribbon - Book lending - Authentic introduction - Hot chocolate - Family & nail polish December 25: Sharing is caring - Flux - Jewellery shopping - Carolling - Communal cooking & empowerment

Dream reads the journal and has a little crisis- maybe it's a handwritten poem collection Wil got somewhere? Maybe it means something totally different because of the different cultures??
While everyone else is absolutely failing at learning polish yes 😭 I can imagine the possibility of mistaking a different slavic language for polish or thinking that Wil is writing in a code xDDDD
everyone is going to tommy like "quick you and wilbur are brothers, right?? where did you grow up what language is that????" and tommy awkwardly has to reveal that he and wilbur aren't actually blood siblings and have actually only known each other for ~a year lmao
dream, like, takes a couple of the journal pages somehow ahdkjshdjsds and at some point sapnap finds him with it and becomes 100% convinced that wilbur and dream are plotting together which makes the entire server even more frantic in their attempts to figure out the language
meanwhile wilbur is, like, making collages and writing poetry (and freaking out when he realizes some pages are missing), techno is burdened with knowledge™ but finds the rest of the server's fumbling to be amusing, and dream is, like, reading the poetry every night trying to figure out what it means.
(at some point tommy & tubbo are sneaking into the community house to try and spy on dream to figure out whatever's going on, and they hear dream giggling and think it's, like, a maniacal laugh, but really dream is just flustered by wilbur's prose lmao)
#this has such wonderful potentials to be a hilarious comedy/borderline crack fic ashlkdjskdjhskdjs#techno is the only normal one#dream and wilbur have *gestures vaguely* whatever is going on#and the rest of the server is acting as though the end of the world is upon them#I think a few other people would also figure out what's going on and be normal (like niki for example)#stella answers#karo sioster

I'm confused about the art and comic minimums.
So we can draw a full-body art piece without a background?
What do you mean by 3 props for a half-body art piece? Trees and bushes? Buildings and roads? Or do you just want to make sure there's a scene in the artwork and not an abstract background? How detailed does the background need to be?
For the comic minimum we can draw anything as long as it's at least 3 panels? No background required? No color required?
Yes, a fullbody art piece of a character receiving their gift will suffice. No background unless you want to
All the things you listed are valid props! Trees, bushes, buildings, roads, all will count to props/items. Basic sky/ground will not. Clouds, grass, ground may count if they are rendered with shading, detail, etc. Scenes are a way you CAN do it but we also will allow more abstract collage-style art if there are drawn objects around.
And yup! I’ll link back to the clean sketch elaboration here. And three panels is currently our benchmark, and it can be of anything, but I WILL highlight that effort is required. So something like this wouldn't work:
Basically three panels, the same angle, redrawn. The gift is only described, and the process of obtaining the gift isn't. There isn't much personality of either character.
We would be looking for something more like this (bearing in mind that we would probably be asking for a bit more polish than I did here)
there's a bit more storytelling here! And even if the other two panels don't have as much of the subjects being drawn, it brings atmosphere or context to making the gift. Lots more personality! I added colour for effort points, because these characters are very simple to draw. If the subject has a lot more detail like a legendary Pokémon, colouring probably isn't as necessary. Even then, messy colouring is also fine in this case.
Comic minimum requirements are vague because there's a lot of ways you can go about it! We are a community of storytellers and creatives so I wanted to be a little limitless. I trust that participants would naturally put effort into their submission, and we will also be moderating and giving advice as well.
Just to reassure, we do plan on posting submission examples with breakdowns as well, so you and anybody else can get the picture of what they can do. But as we're in Wishlist writing period, we've mostly been providing info about signups, wishlists, etc.

More thoughts on AI art discourse - there’s a claim I’ve seen pop up a few times that AI art models are tools for “democratizing creative expression’ because they enable people who can’t draw or paint well to make beautiful art about things they want to see. This claim is weird to me, in a way that’s had it rolling around in my head since I heard it. I have zero incentive to begrudge the use of technological tools to help create art - even those that embed strong priors in what that art output looks like that comes more from the technology than the user. That statement applies to many interesting and well-respected mediums, including those that act like AI art in other ways - remixing and resampling existing work is a legitimate way to express creativity. But like, you don’t make a collage of something and tell someone ‘I drew this’, right? Or you don’t say, “this is just like if I drew this”. Which is what I feel like this claim is saying. That making AI art of something will be as if you drew it yourself.
That’s a claim that will elicit immediate backlash in the same way that traditional art theft (“I made this”) would. But I think it’s different than claiming the skills and work of another artist directly. Most people I’ve seen sharing AI art are honest about how the image was generated. The benefit they get isn’t the clout of having the skills to make the image - it’s just the clout of the image… existing, I guess? So I don’t think that’s my issue with the framing. I think, instead, the part of the original claim that stirs me up is this idea that people who use AI models to make art would not otherwise be able to creatively express themselves on as “high a level” without AI tools. And that’s weird to me!
I think it’s common to think of the process of creating art as of translating some platonic ideal of what that piece could or should be from the artist’s brain into an actual artifact. The artist wants something to exist, and they bring it into existence, in a form that’s impacted by not just their self-expression and decisions, but also their physical abilities and the tools available to them. It’s not uncommon to metaphorically label these two parts of the process into something akin to “signal” and “noise” - to imagine that the ideal art in someone’s brain is corrupted by their lack of ability to realize it. In my experience, most people who don’t think of themselves as artists think that this is what making art is. You get better at art to reduce the ‘noise’ and make images that look more like you want to make.
I’m not gonna claim that’s wholly untrue. I think it would be dishonest of me - god knows I prefer digital drawing over traditional because it gives me tools for making my art cleaner, clearer, and more deliberate. But also, the more art I’ve made, the more I’ve come to reject the “signal/noise” framing. Artists are not printers. It is much more common, in my experience, to ‘think on the page’. When you’re making art, you’re communicating with the world, your medium, your own abilities, at every step of the process. I don’t see those influents as noise - or rather, when and whether they are benefitting or hindering the art is extremely contextual to what you’re trying to do. The “democratization through AI art” claim comes in with some very specific ideas of what all artists are trying to do. It implicitly assumes the goal of art is to produce a very polished image in a specific and recognizable style, that features a desired subject or theme, and is appealing to look at. It then follows that people who have creative ideas but who aren’t able, currently, to bring them to fruition in that exact way, are deprived somehow of the experience of making art.
I disagree with that. I recognize that technical art skills and expressive capacity often grow together, but art that is made by a person without those technical skills is just as art-y as what they’d make with years of training. The quality of expression comes from the process of making the art, not the polish of the outcome. I know there’s an eternal, unresolvable discourse about how much certain tools erode the artistic process. Again, the use of new technology to create art in general doesn’t bug me. What does is equating what I see as processes on very different parts of a spectrum - saying they’re doing the same thing, and fulfill the same role for an artist, audience, or art as a whole. (Plus, there’s a whole other piece to be said about seeing the way that art is shared and distributed online currently, where art with certain polished visual styles is more likely to be produced and shared en-masse, and then thinking that the way to make that process more ‘democratic’ is to give everyone the ability to make art that looks exactly like that, rather than to consider and elevate the art that people are already making.)
Which brings me to my last point- I don’t actually think it’s bad in any way to want to have a polished piece in a specific style that you didn’t have to draw yourself. But that need isn’t met by better drawing tools - it’s met by art commissions. The claim that AI models make it easier to make art, rather than to bypass paying artists to make you art, is a spin that should have more eyebrows hitting the ceiling.
#ai art#ai art discourse#ai disk horse#complaining#shoutout to topquarkintown again lol#we talked about this on discord#which somehow stirred the metaphysical fabric in such a way that the two tables next to me in a coffeeshop#also started arguing about AI art

People's reactions to attempts at being unashamed at transmasculinity continue to morbidly amuse me.
You've doubtless been submerged in media, and culture inevitably takes pieces from existing culture and society. Sometimes you see fragments of something that excites you. Aesthetically, Erotically, it's hard sometimes to tell tune difference. You draw from this media, from what you've seen in society, and form your own idea of gender. You may find yourself during this time drawn to many things associated as masculine, just as some people find the same with femininity. Does it bear saying, that any form of social construct is likely to have a complicated history that cannot be fully represented in a couple collage images? I don't think anyone is attempting that. I don't think anyone is trying to submit fully polished theories. They're finding pride, community and pleasure in snippets of text and familiar images. Instead of being ashamed for wanting to transition or even just be perceived as masculine, wanting to claim what other people don't ask for permission to claim.
This was written channeling many muses who looked and were treated very different from myself . I don't see exact replicas of myself and my relationship to gender. I take what I like and make it my own. Should I not feel represented? That is for every creature to decide for itself without shame.

Communicating in colour (initial collage):
Here after trying different styles of illustration, i decided that digital collage is what i should stick to as it looks more polished and has a better finish than the illustration would have had if i brought it in.
For my first proper attempt at collage i used image from Pexels and searched Cornwall, i then included the things i thought related to the place well, in this case it was beaches and 99p flake ice cream!
After i did the first one i then thought about including coordinates to those places so here i added in the coordinates to St Austell, this is where i stay in Cornwall so i thought adding a personal touch like this would be fun and it also adds another detail to the cards! Overall i like the quality these postcards have and like the effect that the digital collage has! I also like the use of coordinates, im keen to use this going forward as i love the personal touch! I also within these tried to keep to my colour palette and chosen typeface, these i used within coloured shapes (circle), which is another element i like. Overall i much prefer this style to the illustration i had tried before!

As part of my research for this project, I selected several artists and films on which I will base my observations on body image, shame, and imperfections. As the second part of my project, I intend to create visual works such as etching printing and also a 3D project.
First Artist is
Suzan Bordo is an American philosopher and writer born in New Jersey, USA. Her works are mainly based on feminist views and theories. Many of her works discuss the body and topics related to it, as well as choruses such as anorexia and bulimia. Her work also describes all kinds of concepts of masculinity and sexual harassment among both women and men. As part of her research, she wants to focus on her two books "Unbearable Weight: Feminism, Western Culture, and the Body" (1993) and "The Male Body: A New Look at Men in Public and Private" (1999), in which Bordo discusses topics regarding the body and the influence of culture and the gender that judges it on our body image.(1)
Second Artist is a polish young illustrator called Oliwia Bober based in London. In her art as she said she like to explore a topic of femininity. Lots of her work showing a vulva shape cooperating with flowers and woman’s body. By her work she would like to show up that’s an intimate parts of our body’s are not a things to be a shame of. (2)
Figure1 https://www.google.com/search?sca_esv=59f9c62adf8353ec&sca_upv=1&rlz=1C9BKJA_enGB1001GB1001&hl=en-GB&sxsrf=ACQVn0-ypYmw0zefc__mg9Nmb7qVFyvHSw:1707645589517&q=oliwia+bober&tbm=isch&source=univ&fir=vaYETFrNpiFEBM%252CSMyxndfxBXcq1M%252C_%253BlCwPyO_9_46KlM%252CUjcpLmpkA8kTtM%252C_%253BSGIFAKESIBbNZM%252CEE8SFVNnHvVOyM%252C_%253BNlb-itT6BmcbQM%252C5c869Wk7SCP_IM%252C_&usg=AI4_-kR0UpQ9cfuV0In8NoHKovPwB0itOg&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjwtY_Gg6OEAxX0Z0EAHSSVCVkQ7Al6BAgPEAU&biw=535&bih=696&dpr=2#imgrc=19tpLMpxFLBhNM&imgdii=vaYETFrNpiFEBM

Next artist is called Barbara Kruger. Born on 26 January 1995, in New Jersey, United States. Her works are mainly collages in black and white with some slogans. Her works express the power of identity, consumerism and sexuality. As one of the postmodern feminists, she mainly uses methods of communicating to the masses, and in her works, she explores the issues of gender and identity. She actively participates in various activities related to women's rights, showing her support by creating posters and other types of works, such as her poster for the 1989 Women's March on Washington in support of legal abortion.(3)

Fourth Artist as my reaserch for this project will be Cindy Sherman. Cindy Sherman is an American artist born in 1954. She has always been inspired by the topic of identity and shows it in various ways in her works. In his works, Sherman shows stereotypes associated with particular types of people. Her almost theatrical and sometimes extremely exaggerated reflection of a given type makes the observer think about herself and the norms prevailing in society. Over the years, her works have evolved, touching on almost taboo topics regarding the human body, which we can observe in her works showing her stylized as a dead body. or using prosthetics in her work. The topic of ugliness and insecurity about the human body showed a dark side of human identity in my opinion.(4)
Figure 5 https://images.app.goo.gl/JrzpnjtyiDawxXEL7
Figure 6 https://www.google.com/search?sca_esv=56fd5fdc65d94044&sca_upv=1&rlz=1C9BKJA_enGB1001GB1001&hl=en-GB&sxsrf=ACQVn0_2W6s-RhXkNGEt4N_AiRCHEMK2LQ:1707648406292&q=cindy+sherman&tbm=isch&source=lnms&prmd=ivnmbtz&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi42aGFjqOEAxUJa0EAHeZLCyUQ0pQJegQICBAB&biw=535&bih=696&dpr=2#imgrc=u2VVynx_N-KkMM&imgdii=Js-0F96k0FGdLM
As last part of my reaserch I would love to see some of movies about body image and insecurities and a consequences that going with a wrong ideas about us and our visual part.
One of movie is named a “ Hair spray” it’s about a girl who is overweight and her story about getting to be a television persona.
Another movie is called “Dumpling” movie again about overweight girl and mother who is obsessed in perfect look.
The last movie is called “ To the bone” movie showing us a story about anorectic woman and others who are somehow develop eating disorders or envy other disorders connected with body image. Movie showing how tragic an obsession about begin perfect can be hazardous for a human.

Feedback 🥰 💜
https://www.tumblr.com/oraclekleo/736941190397771776/gellow-i-want-to-participate-in-your-game-send
Thank you so much for this reading 💜💜💜 "And I must say that your collage is pretty impressive." Hehe, thank you, i used Pinterst and Canvas.
"I can already tell you are most likely a pretty organised and neat person with a love for symmetry and clean lines. 😂 Feel free to correct me. I can be wrong. Nobody’s perfect. 🙂"
Hehe well, it depends, when it comes to online things, my phone's archives📱, my study papers and notebooks, yes I'm very neat but on my daily life i am very unorganized 🫠😔, I'm clean but very very messy(not fixing my bed after waking up, leaving my clothes on the floor, i haven't dusted off my nail polishes in a long long time, my makeup is out in the dresser/vanity ect, ect) basically for digital things i can be very organized but on my daily life , i organize the house once a week.
"Others might be still lazy and trapped in routine but it’s time for you to become productive and abundant. Start early and get ahead of others just like the cherry trees which bloom early and their fruits ripen before many others" owww i love cherry trees! They are so dreamy. I didn't know they bloom earlier than others.
"You might be standing in front of an important choice. One path will keep you grounded and safe, one takes you up to the sky and maybe into directions you could never predict. It’s important for you to make the decision with both a conscious mind and your intuition and heart" I defenely see this, I'm trying to workout how to either go with the flow of my university carrer or try to hassell it out with my pasión.
"You certainly have deep roots in your community and you are well cherished by them. On the other hand, you understand what self-love and self-care mean. Sometimes we are not meant to continue the legacy from the past rather start a new one ourselves and it’s important to decide this. You probably feel excited and full of eagerness now which is a good start. New ideas come to us for a reason but make sure to ground your dreams in reality so you can truly achieve your goals" sooo true! I want to start making sense of my dreams and wishes and do something to get them, i think I'm tired of waiting for a chnage to arrive insted of going after it.
"Don’t try to bottle your feelings up as you are perfectly able to feel them through and process them. Before making important decisions, sit down, calm down and think what it is you want over a cup of tea or any beverage you like" I agree, HIGH-key what i would love to have is someone with the known-how to guide me, but i guess i have to try to meet even more new people to get to this person or group of people.
Thanks a lot for answering this question, thanks a lot for all the details you put into them. You're very sweet and thoughtful 💜
Organising once a week is still pretty neat. I know people who never do. Like never ever. 😂 I'm actually the same. My digital files are in such a perfect order but it takes me days to fold and put washed laundry back into wardrobe. 🤣
As for the choice between career and hassling, remember that doing what you love as a source of income will turn any passion and hobby into real work. Sooner or later you won't be enjoying it that much and you might even completely lose interest in it. Regular job can be dull but it's only job, you do it for money and when your shift is over, you can unwind with your hobbies and passions. But what will you do if your hobbies and passions are turned into your job? How will you relax when you have a tough day? I'm not saying you should necessarily do what you studied. My mom was a construction engineer by education but spend her life working for insurance companies and banks and worked with hands as her hobby. It's important to remember that what we studied doesn't have to become our lifelong career. 😉
Chase after your dreams! Life might seem long now but it passes so quickly. It's never too soon or late to make at least some of your dreams a reality.
You can always acquire the know-how yourself through experience. It might be more comfortable to have guidance but it's bigger adventure to toss away manuals and find your own path. Even if you meet experts, their experience might be very different from yours and their guidance might not align with your personal path. If in doubts, seek within yourself. You know yourself the best. 💖💖💖
Thank you so much for your feedback and feel free to contact me anytime if needed or when you want to just chit chat.
I wish you all the best in your future, make it bright and brilliant! 💎✨

Ela Green School Hosts Engaging Body Parts Learning Activities
Ela Green School recently hosted a series of engaging body parts learning activities for its young students. The activities were designed to help children learn about the different parts of their bodies, how they work, and how to care for them.
The activities began with a series of tuning-in activities that sparked curiosity in the children. The children were thrilled to delve into the world of body parts, discovering the marvels of eyes, hands, and mouth. They approached the tasks with careful attention, applying eyelashes, nail polish, and teeth to specially designed cut-outs. They all carefully cut the nails for hands and feet cutouts. These enchanting activities nurtured their curiosity and deepened their understanding.
Now, with their curiosity piqued and minds eager, the children were ready to dive further into their exploration. They participated in a variety of hands-on activities, such as creating body part collages, tracing their body parts, and making body part masks. They also got creative by writing poems and creating dances about body parts.
The children also had the opportunity to learn about body parts through play. They played body part scavenger hunts, body part charades, and body part bingo. They also participated in a body part obstacle course that incorporated different body parts, such as hopping on one leg, crawling through a tunnel, and balancing on a beam.
The body parts learning activities at Ela Green School were a huge success. The children had a lot of fun learning about their bodies and how they work. They also developed a deeper understanding of the importance of self-care.
