Introduction

Hello everyone! this is your resident artist and author here! my name is Kat/Lime! I hope we can get along and I hope to grow more on Tumblr like I have on Instagram...I don't have very many followers on either BUT I like very different things and I hope we can find a connection and possibly fan over art and other things?

I have an Instagram as well if you guys wanna follow me there (artsykidwolf_2000). I also post art there too and would love the appreciation there as well. (Before you ask NO I'm NOT taking Commissions at this time for I have NO way of actually doing them at this time and idk about Art Trades other than with mutuals/friends) (I've been getting DMs if I am and I listed specifically on my bio that I don't! Here are some things I have made/are proud of:

My Original Story Series called Last Pegasus! It's a fantasy magical adventure type story based off a lot of things I'm interested in over the years (give or take) and I have SOME works and art based off the story itself or putting them in silly outfits of different fandoms or something hehe... I'm really hoping this series will be my pride and joy once I figure how to get my stuff organized and whatever else is needed comic or just a story otherwise...

Next is OC-TOBER, a OC appreciation type drawing/writing prompt challenge to where the weekly prompt helps you to share your original characters based on that prompt! I already have a few (as of writing this) and there's more to come (hopefully)

My art in general is what I do the best, sure I'm good at writing but I'm not the best best. I hope to grow as I go along and discover more and more tips n tricks and new art friends along the way! I have plenty to show but I'm taking my pace with it to not burn myself and y'all out lol.

just let me gush over the boxset title - STAR CROSSED - because what does that mean?? STAR CROSSED LOVERS?? 😭

and the first audio title is SWIPE RIGHT, which has something to do with dating apps apparently.

I. AM. SO. EXCITED.

however, not everyone is as ecstatic (me too but for different reasons) because it supposedly takes away what happens in SiTL and River supposedly shouldn't meet War, 9, and 10 pre-Library. however, i respectfully disagree. should I bring up what the TARDIS (and Missy) had said? the Doctor and River are so intricately intertwined like wool wound and wound about each other and a complicated space-time event. of course River would be going around meeting different versions of the Doctor and one moot even likened it to her collecting pokemons! which is a rather cute imagery i'll never be rid of. besides, most or nearly all of the time, their memories get wiped away. also, one of my favorite uses of imagery to use for the Doctor and River is the ouroborus, they are a never ending cycle of firsts and lasts. i could also explain how all these meetings woth pre-Library Doctors don't take away the 'special-ness' of that 'first meeting' but gotta go finish this school stuff.

what else was i going to say? ah yes, if River's appearing in this boxset, would that mean we wouldn't be seeing her comeback on TV? make no mistake. i LOVE all these audios but to SEE her again be part of the ongoing show, oh what a treat (and at this rate, a miracle) it would be.

HELLO CONTENT CREATORS AND ABSORBERS!!!! Do you like Hermes from GodOfWar 3 and also perhaps Heimdall from GodOfWar Ragnarok? Do you also like when they are TOGETHER????? Well GOOD NEWS!!!! I AM HERE to announce a wonderful festivity; HEIMES WEEK! A silly little week where epic content creators (such as yourselves) in the God of War fandom who enjoy seeing and/or enjoy making Heimes content (or have even always wanted to make content for it but needed a silly excuse) can opt in to be prompted for inspo seven days in a row. I'm really bad at intros can't you tell??? Anyways let's get into the DESSERT!!!

From April 23rd to April 29th, for 7 days in a row, each day will be dedicated to a different Heimes shipping prompt!!!

Each day has TWO prompts to choose from. Options were left available so people who partake can have more creative liberties with the prompts. Each day you can choose one prompt or the other to take inspiration from, or even combine the two, or maybe even just do both separately, or you can do neither!

You aren't obligated to participate, nor are the people who do participate obligated to participate the entire week! You can do two days and just opt out if it gets overwhelming, or you can often Midway through the week and just do them at your own liberty, whatever you want to do. As long as you're having fun and happy!!!!!

Starting out simple, prompt is first kiss. Doesn't have to be exactly a first kiss, can be a first confession, a first date, a first anything . First time they realize they have feelings for each other, even! Whatever floats your boat! Or, last kiss. Make it sweet! Make it angsty! Make it bittersweet! Do what ya like!

Day 2: Sacred Animals/Mythological Creatures

Rams and Roosters and Hawks! Selkies and Satyrs and Dragons, even!!!! Whatever creatures come to mind in regards to incorporating sacred animals (because hey, these two share a couple!) or mythological creatures somehow. Hey, doesn't even have to be creatures from their respective mythologies!

Day 3: Meet the Family/Culture Shock

Meeting the family isn't always easy especially when both of your families control entire pantheons! Something about them not getting along with each other's fathers, or even getting along with each other siblings? Or vice versa? Or you can even go with the culture shock root, them introducing one another to each other's cultures. Be it clothes or food or customs and traditions!

Day 4: Personality Swap/Gender swap

Breaking ship week tradition if we don't include this one, either a personality swap of one or both, Heimdall being a pushy flirt and Hermes being a prude? Or a gender swap of one or both. We love women in this house. Get serious or get goofy with whatever you think of!

Day 5: Crossover/Alternate Universe

Have you ever wanted to see these two in your favorite other media? Or perhaps you have an alternate universe where they are already existing in a certain other reality? Maybe you wanted to see them in the Elder Scrolls universe, or them in a Modern AU, or them with a Pokemon team. Show us what ya got! Go hog wild!

Under the stars, stargazing or snuggling at night or doing anything really, indoors or outdoors, together or apart, or above the sky standing upon something tall or taking flight or whatever however you wanna take this and go about it in a bittersweet or not way. Lastly but not leastly we have sparring! Doesn't have to be with each other if you don't want, they can be sparring or fighting something Side by side! Showing off their powers to each other, etc. Or, you can just choose your own! Come up with your own idea, or maybe there was a prompt from one of the previous days that you chose not to do over the other option and you want to return to it! Completely fine! Have as much fun and be as creative as your heart desires!

I know a lot of amazing writers who do reader and OC content in the tags and a lot of it is just as amazing as a lot of the fan art that I see. If you want to take each day and use them for a writing prompt or editing prompt instead of a drawing prompt, you are absolutely welcome to be my guest. I would love to see some of the stuff that you come up with based on the prompts. And there's never enough Heimes fanfiction anyway!!! They don't have to be long bits of writing either! You are not expected to meet any margin, it can be a ficlet or it can be 5,000 words if you truly want to pour your heart out. You don't have to reach a certain amount of letters each day. One day can be a long thick, the next day can be a short thick, you can do art one day and writing another day. You can do both. The world is your oyster!

Meet the Aether Beyond the Binary Contributors: Mikki Madison

Today, we’re kicking off introducing y’all to the contributors to Aether Beyond the Binary, our currently crowdfunding awesome anthology of 17 stories set in aetherpunk settings starring genderqueer and non-binary characters, with an interview with writer Mikki Madison and excerpt from her contribution!

About Mikki Madison: Mikki Madison has been writing stories since she was seven years old.  While she is most prolific in fanfiction and has works scattered among  more than a dozen fandoms, she has been making strides into original  fiction. Her favorite genres to read are romance, fantasy, and cozy  mysteries. When she isn’t reading, writing, or falling headfirst into a  new fandom, she can be found baking, doing puzzles, walking her foster  dog, doting on her niblings, or playing Pokemon Go. Q&A with Mikki Madison

Are you a pantser, a planner, or a planster? What’s your process look like?

I’m a planner. I virtually always have an outline for any project I’m working on, whether it’s a quick scribbled bullet list or more involved note cards. The note cards are typically for novels, while short stories  I can get away with something less involved. It helps to keep me on track and if the story veers while I’m writing, I can adjust either the  outline or the story as I need to.

Do you like having background noise when you create?  What do you listen to? Does it vary depending on the project, and if so, how?

It varies depending on project and also where I am. I have a bunch of story- or genre-specific iTunes playlists that I would listen to whenever I was at in-person write-ins, which usually contained movie and video game scores because I write most easily with instrumental music playing. So if I was writing a fantasy story, I’d have a playlist with the score from the LOTR movies or Final Fantasy games, and if it was a sci-fi story, I’d have Star Wars, and steampunk would be the movie scores from the Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes movies. Recently someone in the DPP server shared a link to a YouTube channel with immersive writing sessions that are about 2 hours long, with 25-minute sprints interspersed with 5-minute breaks. I’ve been putting that channel on the TV while I’m writing at home and it’s really helped me focus!

What are your favorite snacks and/or drinks to consume while creating?

As you can probably tell from a glance at my Tumblr, I love tea. I’m virtually always drinking tea, especially when it’s cold outside.

What are your favorite tropes?

Found family is one of my absolute favorite tropes. I love seeing a disparate group of people come together to care about each other. I’m also a huge fan of rivals to lovers and second-chance romances. Plus, the grumpy one is soft for the sunshine one!! I love it when the grumpy one is soft for the sunshine one.

Tell us about your pet(s).

Right now, I don’t have any full-time pets – I foster dogs for a local rescue. I’ve had 9 dogs over the course of the past year, from 80-pound coonhounds to 3-pound chihuahua puppies. It’s been extremely rewarding and I’ve had so much fun getting to know all the different dogs. It’s hard when I have to let them go, but I know that they’re not “my” dogs and I’m happy that they’re getting to go to a forever family.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

This quote from E.L. Konigsburg: “Finish. The difference between being a writer and being a person of talent is the discipline it takes to apply  the seat of your pants to the seat of your chair and finish. Don’t talk about doing it. Do it. Finish.”

Novels in particular are marathons, and finishing a story of that length is a skill you’ve got to build. It’s fine if it gets trunked, it’s fine if you never edit it, but I think especially as a younger writer, you really need to learn to at least finish that first draft. It helped me tremendously early on to focus on finishing my stories, instead of just editing the beginnings over and over and over.

What are your favorite resources and tools for your craft?

A friend of mine has gifted me a couple of writing-related card decks – one is a prompt deck called Writer’s XL Emergency Pack, another is a card game called Once Upon a Time. I’ve recently been using both to come up with short story ideas and it’s been really fun!

I draw anywhere from 3-9 cards, depending on the length of what I’m doing, and then start brainstorming how to use the different cards  within a story. If I’m not feeling one of the cards, I discard it and  draw another one. 

For example, I was recently working on a story where I knew one of the MCs didn’t want to work with the other one, but I didn’t know why. I knew that was going to be a big plot point, but none of the ideas I’d come up with seemed to fit. So I started drawing some cards out of the Once Upon a Time deck to see if that might spark something. Three of the first cards I drew were “secret,” “wolf,” and “cure.” Bam! A secret werewolf looking for a cure. That gave me my motivation and helped me  outline the back half of the story.

When you’re writing short stories for NaNoWriMo and you’re desperately trying to come up with something else for your word count, these are lifesavers. And I like the physicality of shuffling and drawing them.

Share five of your favorite books. 

Guards! Guards! by Terry Pratchett – if you enjoy fantasy and comedy and you haven’t yet read the Discworld series, this is a fantastic place to start. The Night Watch books are probably my favorites and this one is  excellent. 

The Heiress Effect by Courtney Milan – Honestly I love all of Courtney Milan’s romance novels, but The Brothers Sinister series (of which The Heiress Effect is the second book) is really, really great. I love Jane, the heroine of this story, SO MUCH, and the secondary romance between her sister and a lawyer is so, so sweet. I’ve read it three or four  times at this point.

The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune – I love found families and fantasy and romance, so this book was right up my alley and I read the entire thing in one go. The kids particularly were wonderful.

The Kaiju Preservation Society by John Scalzi – Another book I read in one go, and it was SO much fun that I couldn’t put it down. Scalzi’s sci-fi is both funny and accessible, and another thing I liked about this book was that the first-person POV and the unisex name (Jamie) meant that you can read the main character as any gender you’d like.

The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers – I really loved the structure of this book: essentially several episodes of this ship’s  crew becoming closer as they make their way across the galaxy on a yearlong journey to help create a new wormhole. It was both fascinating  and heart-wrenching.

And my +1 (because we do 5+1 in fandom, yeah?): A Clash of Steel by C. B. Lee – This is a queer YA retelling of Treasure Island set in 1820s China, and it’s an absolute delight. Lee’s descriptions are so vivid that it feels like you’re actually there, and the romance is so, so good.

The pilot’s eyes closed and their whole body sagged. “Thank fuck.”

They were still breathing, albeit barely, so Jules didn’t panic. He glanced back toward the bed-and-breakfast and the road; the ambulance lights were pulling into the driveway. “The ambulance is here. I’ll…”

His eyes fell on a tattoo peeking over the collar of the pilot’s shirt. In and of itself, that wasn’t a cause for concern, but given the shape and that the pilot had been in a gas-powered plane…

Jules pulled the shirt down to reveal a tattoo of three interlocking rings, about the size of a half-dollar.

my silly fan-made greek mythology lego thing :3

finally decided that if i’m gonna be making a lego greek mythology thing (inspired by what lmk did with jttw) i might as well start slowly introducing the characters

so here’s our main characters :3!

Icarus (Left) and Atalanta (Right) are friends, and have been since they were little. Icarus 🪽☀️

Icarus is one of our main protagonists for LEGO Mythos! He's an energetic and cool guy who can barely fly, despite having wings. 

In Greek Mythology, Icarus was imprisoned in a tower, along with his father Daedalus, because Theseus escaped the labyrinth he created, which caused their King to believe them to be traitors. They escaped the tower with a pair of wings that Daedalus made. 

Icarus' father warned him to not fly too close to the sea or sun, but Icarus didn't listen. He's flew too high, causing the wax used to make his wings to meet, and he plunged into the sea and died. 

This Icarus isn't actually the Icarus in the story though, simply named after him because of the yellow (now blue) wings on his back. Why he has these, no one knows. He lives with his aunt Pandora.

Icarus seems to have a penchant for getting caught up in trouble, which is why he's constantly at the centre of every villainous attack on the city he lives in, New Atlas (which isn't an actual city in real life). 

Icarus has a weird talent for being able to beat maze puzzles, and even though he can't fly with his wings, he can still hover and glide, although it's only for a short amount of time (like Pit from Kid Icarus). 

Icarus is this world's MK.

His voice actor would be Anthony Del Rio.

Atalanta 🏹👑

Atalanta is our second main protagonist, alongside Icarus. She's a determined go-getter who doesn't stop when she puts her mind to something.

In the myths, she was abandoned by her birth father and left to die, only to be found by a she-bear (a symbol of Artemis) and be raised by the bear to become a strong huntress and devoted herself to Artemis. 

In this story, Atalanta was mysteriously abandoned in a forest. She was found by Artemis, who named her after Atalanta and brought her to be raised by a well off family. 

Later on in life, when she and Icarus begin getting caught up in godly shenanigans, Artemis appears before Atalanta and offers the mortal to be her successor, whom Atalanta immediately agrees.

Atalanta enables all of Icarus' dumb ideas and actions, but knows when it goes too far. She always has Icarus' back no matter what, just like how he has hers. 

Atalanta is this world's Mei.

Between dragons and ghosts.

Day 3 of Citrus DNB week.

The sun shines and the sounds of their friends fill the air. The large clearing had some interesting visitors.

An Haxorus and a Noivern rested close to their trainer, next to them a Decidueye preening its wings. Their trainers sat just a few feet from them, an ex-gym leader and his partner, a renowned (and dangerous as the media said) “criminal”, —yes Techno, trying to abolish two governments is considered a crime.

The blond man patted the pokemon on his lap, the small being making happy noises as their owner showered them in affection. Yet emerald eyes were focused on the man next to him, tattoos and scars covering his arms, most of his tattoos were simply for aesthetics, but some of them had actual meaning, mostly for his pokemon —no Dream, his not a softy, he just respects his pokemon as they do him… and give them a shit ton of treats can’t prove anything.

The man had long pink hair tied on a loose ponytail, ruby eyes looking everywhere and nothing in particular as he explained one of his most recent “wars”. Their eyes would meet from time to time whenever the pinkette said something funny or looked for any kind of reaction from his companion.

“Now, he didn’t know that even though he had lots more potatoes than what I said I had, I had way more than he could even imagine. Do you know how I did that?”

The blond giggled, his cheeks flushed and almost sore of smiling so much, he couldn’t help it, he loved listening to his boyfriend’s stories. “How did you do it?”

“I used a secret technique called lying! Never reveal your true techniques to a lame trainer.”

“Don’t be so hard on other trainers, just because you’re ancient doesn’t mean you have the right to treat them like that.”

The taller man gasped, his eyes glaring accusatory towards the freckled man, “How dare you. We’re the same age!”

“Nu-huh, you’re older than me.”

“For two months! TWO MONTHS DREAM”

“Old” soon both trainers were wrestling on the ground, Mimikyu having left the blond’s lap a while ago and instead stayed close to the rest of his teammates. The trainer’s pokemon stood by and watched for a while, just before Techno’s Gabite and Dream’s Gourgeist joined the wrestle, the rest soon followed and the trainers had to join forces to escape their pokemon claws and paws.

At night, they all snuggled together on their little camp and stared at the stars, from the two of them, the blond was the first to fall, his Mimikyu and Banette around his arms, his Spectrier served him as a makeshift pillow, the pokemon stared at him, it was one of the oldest members of Dream’s team, Spirit was their name if he remembered correctly. It was usually really overprotective with their trainer, he could remember the time they met, just a couple of teenagers with their first pokemons, his Axew had been scared of the then young Spectrier, the blond assured them Spirit wasn’t violent, and they weren’t, for a whole second.

But that day was probably the best day in Techno’s life, he had met the love of his life; he mouthed a “Thank you” to them, they bowed and laid down. Techno closed his eyes and relaxed, his bag a makeshift of a pillow, he had the best partner in the world.

Nebula, the Umbreon

PERSONALITY+TRAITS:

Nebula is normally seen by themselves, and is normal to feel cold- not just personality-wise, but also to the touch. They normally will stick with one or two others at most, preferring not the be in a crowd. Nebula is an introverted character btw :3

TYPING?:

As Nebula is an umbreon, they would need to keep Dark typing, but I wanted to move a bit closer to a spacey character, so I decided on more of a Ghost or Water typing for them!

NOUNS+OTHER:

Nebula commonly uses if they were gendered; She and Them most commonly, but well, that doesn't matter too much right now- also silly girlie fren >:3

LIFE:

Back when Nebula was an eevee, they commonly went by Nebu, or Leia. (Star Wars reference hehe) Also, they lived in a group with all of the families working together to help everyone, so all of them would help out, all of them would have a mouth to feed, and all of them would stay busy- keeping everything together.

Nebula's siblings Zora and Mink were both very dear to her, and they were all commonly together, until Zora- he evolved into a Vaporeon and left the group to adventure in the seas, and Mink was caught, and unknown to all, became a Flareon. That really doesn't work name-wise lol-

As both of Nebula's sibling left- she was alone with nobody their age to talk with- so she was left to her own devices when it came to tasks, and the free time that felt so boring and long.

This for the most part changed when Nebula evolved to an Umbreon, and she was finally able to leave the family home, going off on their own to visit the world, meeting her one and only, Golden, a strangely colored Leafeon. They would both journey the region together, and end up falling in love over time.

ABILITIES:

As shown in her design, Nebula has wings!! They are on the smaller side, but still work, letter her fly across areas, and glide easily- also being feathered for less weight/being less heavy.

Her tail also happens to be wisping away, which is a part of her ghastly self, making her able to slightly make herself see-through or unable to be hit, like a reflect, but it goes though you!

As in a normal umbreon too, it's rings/markings on their body will glow under moonlight, also filling it with a mysterious power.

MOVESET:

All Pokémon have four/4 moves, so this is Nebula's moveset below:

Confuse ray

Curse

Shadow ball

Those are the four I chose, but any others they could learn would probably be Hyper voice or wish.

INSPO AND OTHER:

A lot of my inspiration was already with shiny Umbreon, as they were already one of my favorite both Pokémon-wise and by variants. I also was inspired by the songs below!:
