No words can express how upset, and angry this makes me. We had a shot (pun intended) and because of the way some people view women, POC, and trans people, we lost. I'm fuming. This risks so many fucking people, it's insane. No matter what happens, stay safe, please. Because you are loved, and you DO deserve rights.

You don't have to be disabled to care about the community
Or LGBTQ+ to be an ally and fight for their rights
Or part of a religious group to see we all have a right to practice whatever religion you want.
Or a uterus owner to care about feminism and equality
Or POC to realize that all lives matter
In short, you don't have to be a part of a group of people to defend them and fight for basic human rights and respect. So the argument of "why should I care I'm not [xyz]." Burn it to the ground and start being a decent human being.

you don't have a personal responsibility to break stereotypes about your demographics. you don't have to be the perfect representation. you don't have to be a good representation. you are allowed to exist as you are, even if it somehow fits into stereotypes.
you're allowed to have your experiences, hobbies, expressions, traits, problems, symptoms, etc. even if they're stereotyped. you are not a living stereotype. you are a person. a person who happens to have some traits. you're not making the world less diverse. your existence already contributes to diversity.

[image id: "We have come so far downhill when it comes to protecting one another that [supporting mask-wearing] is a controversial opinion to have these days... The political climate creates this perfect storm where it's going to further criminalize Black and Brown people who need masks to survive."

HEY, Important! READ!
KOSA is a national bill in the USA getting ever closer to passing. This bill is not being thoroughly discussed, but is still passing through voice votes. This bill has a lot of important parts in it that are not properly defined, which would make it very easy for major Tech Companies to abuse it, especially by attacking marginalized communities with it. We all know many communities typically discriminated against, are home to people, especially youth, who face mental health problems and/or abuse. This bill could cause tech companies to censor content that gives support to at risk people, whether out of fear or purposeful discrimination against such people. KOSA as it is could cause an incredible amount of harm, and not just to ones who live in the USA. Companies would likely censor content that could be considered "controversial" in any place there content is seen, not just the US. Suicide rates among marginalized communities have shown to be considerably higher than that among the general population time and time again. If KOSA passes, I believe it is extremely likely that the current suicide rate will rise even higher, especially among youth. KOSA would also result in many challenges for small businesses, as they would have to navigate through the legal walls and censorship that will be placed in front of them. Politicians have tried to threaten big companies, especially tech companies, for many years and KOSA has been made with similar purpose. Small businesses could very easily be caught in a tug-of-war they do not have the ability to navigate correctly.
The government is meant to help and protect civilians, but have proven to do the opposite many times before. WE have a voice, and it is not too late to use it! There are some politicians who want to and have listened to us before, we just need to keep telling them.

Familiarize yourselves with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The US hasn't signed it yet, but if they had the stunts the alt-right are trying to pull would definitely go against it.
We have to be on the forefront of the children's rights movement and protect it intersectionality along with other civil rights movements like trans rights, gay rights, women's rights, poc rights, indigenous rights, Jewish rights, disabled rights and all basic human rights.
If they go after one of us, they go after us all. Right now children aren't protect so they're being targeted first.
We can't let them use "what about the children" as an excuse to create laws that harm children and adults. But as far as I can see, we are not making as much noise about children's rights. People who care about children might be drawn to the alt-right if they falsely believe that this is the only children's rights movement, we can't allow that to happen.
So spread the word.
Children's rights are human rights.
Trans children's rights are human rights.

Something I've noticed a lot of people doing is misunderstanding pride.
If someone says they are something or support something, it doesn't mean that anyone outside of that bracket is invalid. It just means they are celebrating who they are, and fighting for equality for that thing.
For example, a feminist is celebrating their femininity or protesting for equal rights for women. This does not mean that they think all men deserve less. This means men have had more opportunities and rights throughout history and they want it to be EQUAL between both.
A gay person does not automatically hate people who are hetero. A gay person can be proud, because gay people have gone through many hardships in the past. Hetero people have not had the same situations or reputations that need fixing.
Trans people just want people to respect their gender. They are proud of the fact that they are trans, and have gone through countless numbers of abuse. They want to be themselves, and they do not hate cis people who do not hate them.
Disabled people can fight for rights because the world is not equipped for disability and never has. Able people can navigate their world without pain or fear. They do not hate able people, they want accessibility and safety.
POCs have been through hell, regardless of the time period. Sure, it's better now in some ways, but it's still awful. They can be proud of their skin colour and fight for equality too.
PEOPLE DON'T SPREAD POSITIVITY ABOUT THEIR IDENTITY TO EXCLUDE OR UPSET OTHERS!
For example, a straight, white, hetero, cis, able-bodied, neurotypical, stable, Christian man. That's a prime example of someone who has never faced discrimination (although some might!). The history of people like that is filled with power, discovery, supremacy and comfort. He has no rights to fight for, no fear that he could be harmed by a prejudiced stranger who hates him.
Equality means fairness, and the same treatment. It doesn't mean supremacy.

"I only make offensive jokes/say slurs with my friends so its ok."
not really. look at it this way,
when I was a teen, my dad would beat me if he caught me saying swears. however I was able to say swears around my friends cause they didn't care. but lo and behold, I slipped up in front of my dad once, even though I was damned scared of him. it just happened involuntarily.
point is, you will eventually slip up in public. and when that happens, people will assume you're a racist/ queerphobe/ transphobe/ misogynist. why? cause its safer for them to assume that and stay the fuck away, than hang around since people are dumbfucks that want to kill over what others cannot change.

I've noticed that for some people that everything going on in Palestine is just drama to them, which happen to concern their faves - not like, an actual genocide that is devastating a people. Which is leading some of you to over step your place as "allies" (I don't really think they're allies to cause tbh) and do things like accepting apologies that aren't yours to accept in the place (i.e some of the famous people's 'apologies') and downplaying the damage the western media and certain people in power have done. Like I'm sorry that people are upset over the disgusting statements your fave made, people are literally dying, but I guess we're just too sensitive & chronically online right?
Idk y'all make me mad.
