Pizzeria Bros Artisanale

Pizzeria Bros is an immensely popular pizzeria in Montreal, a city known for its great food. Why it is so well-liked is quite beyond me, because the pizza sucks. Maybe its  just a lack of better options here in the land of maple syrup and ice fishing. Customers can choose from various sauces and toppings, or from the menu of “pizzas signatures”. The pizzas are baked for two minutes in mini-pizza ovens, which seems like a cool concept, but the result is a hot mess.  

I went for the Hawaiian pizza, or the “Aloha” as they call it (the menu is in French BTW), with ham, cheese, and pineapples. Hawaiian pizza gets a lot of criticism from purists, but its my go-to when I expect a crappy pie. This combination of ingredients is usually edible, but not in this case. The ham had a very weird texture, the pineapples tasted like they were soaked in sugar water, and the dough tasted like something you would get from 7-11 at 3am. The cheese, however, was delicious. If you ever find yourself in Montreal, avoid Pizzeria Bros, and stick to the poutine and bagels instead.
