i'm watching count of monte cristo and thinking about blorbos

fox who's forced to take the fall for one of palpatine's cronies and he does, because he has no autonomy and no alibi, and he'll never be able to live with himself when one of the other commanders is sent in his place

it's fourteen years before fox manages to escape, because more than anything, he wants to see bail and breha again

except bail and breha are happily married with a daughter and they seem to have moved on from fox's loss pretty well

fox does not consider tormenting them for a moment. he instead becomes their guardian angel from the shadows, mauling anything that gets near them, and resenting his broken old body, and wishing that he could go home to people who don't seem to see him as any home any more

it's almost another year before he gets injured protecting the organas and more or less collapses at their feet. they don't recognise him at first but then there's a shriek of recognition from breha as bail says something thoroughly unrepeatable, and then fox passes out as one does after severe blood loss

when he wakes up, it turns out that they hadn't moved on at all, and they still have a few private investigators on retainer, actually, who were still looking for him because they were still desperate to see him come home

they let him hold his daughter for the first time. he nuzzles her hair and it's soft against his cheek and he cries even though he doesn't mean to.

they take him home. they take him to healers. they take him to bed.

somehow everything seems a little bit brighter after that, as he sits on the balcony with their girl and listens to breha and bail laughing together.
