Battle Royale
Gone, but not forgotten (D)
Extinct or near extinct birds only here. There aren't enough to have this be more than one bracket, so there will definitely be an info-post for the winner.

Keep Your Mornings in Perspective

I really feel like I have accomplished something by foiling the assassins every morning - it's very inspiring.
(This is my old pied crow politely asking to share my breakfast. He was quite the gentleman in his natural tuxedo, and had such nice manners. Looking at this picture of him makes me happy.)

What are your favourite ships?
Honestly you guys please send more of these questions. I love answering them and I feel like you get to know me more with them
Anyway this is a tough question… I have many ships that I like but favorites? (Please no hate, these are my opinions)
- Evil queen x Good king
- Red riding hood x bad wolf
- Daring x Lizzie
- Daring x Rosabella (Ik Ik controversial but I’m a sucker for a beauty and the beast story even if it’s a very poorly done one)
- Dexter x Raven
- Darling x Chase Redford
- Alistair x Bunny
-Ashlynn x Briar
-pied piper x Cheshire Cat (iyk yk)
Etc…
Honestly I could go on forever but it’s just impossible to chose and I’m sure I have forgotten some really great ones but these are the ones I could come up with on the top of my head

Now it's Holly's turn to reference Tangled: The Series. Maddie is absolutely the kind of person to take "this can't get any stranger" as a challenge, for better or for worse.

Corvus ruficollis better known as the brown-necked raven, brown necked crow, or desert raven is a species of corvid native to North Africa and the middle east, from as far west as the Cape Verde Islands to as far east as India, and as far north as Kazakhstan to as far south as Kenya. Here they inhabit coastlines, deserts, dry forests, savannas, and scrublands. These social birds tend to travel in flocks of 3 to upwards of 15 members, occasionally with members of other species such as the pied crow and thick billed ravens. they feed primarily upon grains, seeds, fruits, insects, carrion, and small vertebrates, in fact these ravens regularly work together to hunt lizards, snakes, fish, rodents, and even young or infirm sheep, goats, and gazelles. Reaching some 20 to 22 inches (52 to 56cms) in length, brown necked ravens are larger than carrion, Somali, and pied crows, but smaller than common, white necked, and thick-billed ravens. The head and throat are a distinct brownish-black giving the bird its common name, while the rest of the plumage is black glossed with purple, blue or purplish-blue. The voice is very similar to the common raven's consisting mainly of croaks, though higher in pitch; and a harsh "karr-karr-karr". In flight, it will utter a "kuerk-kuerk" call. Like all corvids, the Brown-necked raven is capable of vocal mimicry. The breeding season varies depending on the local rainy season, pair typically mate for life and build nests up in trees, cliffs, or atop building. Here a mother will lay 3-5 eggs which are incubated in shifts for 20- 22 days until hatching. The young will fledge after around 38 days. Under ideal conditions a brown necked raven may live upwards of 30 years.

Alright so I have a question. In the sandman it is said a few times that Morpheus always has a raven by his side. But if that's true then why does Jessamy look more like a Pied Crow? Pied Crow below.

my next fic probably isn't going to be the Yonderverse "Loki organizes Steve's and Bruce's dual stag party and it goes, uh, well, Things Happen" but it COULD be.
peak comedy: Steve, Bucky, Loki, Thor, Clint, Rocket, Sam, Rhodey, Scott, and Bruce getting into Trouble In Space while Steve and Bruce just want to go home and make out with their respective brides-to-be. (Tony was invited but opted out, saying he had had enough of space and someone had to hold down the fort on Earth.)

"Do birds have a qualification for what is handsome, beyond like... plumage? Well, actually, ravens do a lot of gift-giving in their courtship rituals, and dancing, and shows of intelligence. But none of those are really the same as a human qualification."

Me: We need to stop enforcing the ageist agenda. 30 is not old. There is no such thing as "too old" for anything, this is all a construction of the capitalist system. Age is just a number.
Me turning 30: I am already past my prime. My body is decaying at an unprecedented pace. Please, move on without me, I am too old to keep up. If anybody needs me I'll be rotting in my retirement house room

11/03/23-Walk at Beaulieu Road/Shatterford/Denny Wood in the New Forest and a photo of Starlings crammed onto an aerial seen from home this evening (the last photo), a bird it was great to see and hear from home again today. The first nine pictures in this set taken in the New Forest this afternoon are of; two of a beautiful male Chaffinch in Beaulieu Road car park where we parked feeding on bird seed on a post I’d not seen birds fed at this spot before though I don’t think I’ve been there in seven years, two views on our walk around the Shatterford area which was a lovely circular walk, mushroom at Shatterford, three more views on the walk and a beautiful high bit of gorse in flower at Shatterford.
Other highlights on our New Forest walk today were brilliant Buzzard views, ravishing Raven and Redwing, marvelous Meadow Pipit views and a wagtail double with nice views of Pied Wagtail and Grey Wagtail. There was a pleasant set of waterbirds seen on this mostly heathland and a bit of a woodland walk too with a couple of Canada Geese, Mallard and thrillingly Lapwings seen I love seeing these in precious wet New Forest areas. I enjoyed Fallow Deer and New Forest Pony on the walk too, with Fallow Deers nearby on the way and Roe Deers on the way home brilliant from car sightings today. Jackdaw and Carrion Crow were other birds I saw well at home today.

How a Crow Became My Friend, My Teacher...
I watched the crow inside the aviary. I said "good morning" as I had every day for months, and was ignored. My words were always ignored -- white noise. The crow made a series of complex calls and clicks as it often did, clearly directed elsewhere. Frustrated at being treated once again like a fly on the wall, I returned the crow's calls as best as I could, doing a very poor imitation and feeling rather silly, faintly hoping to at least get a glance in my direction.
To my surprise, the crow turned and actually looked at me, considering me with those inscrutable deep-chocolate eyes of his. He called out, but continued to watch me as he did. I returned the calls again. He hopped closer, and my breath caught in my chest as I froze, not wanting to break the spell. He called to me again, and as I stood there in wonder, we had our first conversation.
The Crow kept his calls simple and clear for me, as one might for a child. We talked for several more minutes, and finally there was understanding. The Crow finally understood that this strange hominid was trying to communicate. I was no longer a thoughtless beast in the eyes of The Crow, but rather a thinking, self-aware individual like its black-feathered fellows. I was worth teaching because I had finally realized that I needed to learn.
In a single moment, the empty unchanging months that had passed with unwanted gifts, treats, and other bribes, became a friendship that steadily grew in trust over the years. The Crow became more and more a part of our lives, calling out to us to wake us up in the morning, hopping on my arm to share food off my breakfast plate, and requesting items that piqued his interest. Thank you, my friend, for teaching me that it is not always the responsibility of others to learn our language... sometimes it is our responsibility to learn theirs.
