It's been an interesting morning so far. Overview:

While she's not very big, intellectual or attuned to magic, she is unbeatably chipper and physically strong. She loves fighting and gleefully uses a variety of lovely accessories/weapons like a giant club, enchanted glaive, magitech gauntlets, etc. Her left glove allows her to access a dimensional storage. Teases hard, punches even harder. Actually quite feminine when off the clock. Loves magitech gadgets a lot. Doesn't think science or magic is better, because their society needs both. She's definitely not insecure about her height. She'd also never conjure a giant squeaky hammer to bop you over the head if you call her short.

Likes: Vegetables, Nectar, Trying new foods, The colour green, Flowers, Butterflies and moths, Pretty/cool/badass women, Her club, Brass knuckles, Tinkering, New gadgets, Teasing her friends, Seeing a certain winged magenta knight open up and feel genuine joy

Abilities: Able to fly. Very physically strong. Innately has access to Suplex and Hammer, but mainly uses her trusty club. Her boots and gauntlets let her emulate elements of Hi-jump, Laser and Mecha. (The boosted jump, laser finger guns and palm blasts, respectively.)

Weaknesses: Can't fly quickly. Stubby little arms limit her great strength with little reach. Distractable and a little naive. Can't resist eating strange and exotic snacks no matter the source. Seeing cute girls (she HAS to show off).

Fighting Style:

Her gauntlets are good for punching and the palms can release blasts of energy as well. They're mainly so she can hold large weapons well, since her actual hands aren't very big.

Her moth wings aren't very big either, so while she can normally fly and can still break her fall when she's armoured, she prefers to zip around close to the ground. It's often faster and easier to run and jump when she's fighting. Especially when she's wielding her heavy club. Her boots help her boost and maneuver quickly.

Don't make the mistake of thinking that because she prefers close range combat and isn't proficient with magic she can't attack at a distance. Her gauntlets possess finger laser guns and she can use her left glove (which she also wears under her gauntlet) to access her weapon hoard at all times. Who knows what else she keeps in there?

Even her civilian outfit isn't harmless. She still has access to her innate Suplex and Hammer abilities, after all. And those shoes have steel toes! Of course, the platform heels are just to keep her delicate wings from scraping across the ground when folded. No other reasons. (Like being taller.)

Design Thoughts:

Olympea is the first of the Heroes of Yore who came to me. I was thinking about how to describe the Heroes of Yore and knew I wanted at least one to be a woman. Suddenly her name resounded through my head! Then I just started associating. Olympea sounds like Olympics, so she must be strong. Pea calls to mind small, round and green, so what if she's (mostly) the same species as Galacta Knight? Peas are famous for research on genetics and alleles, so what if she was born, not formed like him? Maybe she doesn't have a lot of magical affinity. Then she needs weapons. Pea, peace, pea shooters, peas in a pod, peacemaker, pea-smacker. Let's give her a hammer, no, a club! She's strong, so what if she packs a punch? How about some gauntlets for punching? She can have a gun, wait, let's put the gun (pea shooter!) in her gauntlet's finger! She needs storage for her weapon hoard (girl needs to accessorise!) so what if her enchanted gauntlets let her access dimensional storage (peas in a pod)? Hmmm, does she have wings? There's a bug called a pea moth, so she has moth wings now. Her ponytail is twisted like a dried pea pod and not-so-coincidentally looks a bit like a cocoon when down and a boxing glove while up in a bun.

I maaay have gone completely overboard with the whole pea thing, but such is life. Although there is a bit of Hammer Lord in there as well. She doesn't hate magic, she just doesn't have a lot of affinity for it. She does enjoy tinkering and building weapons. This is how she ended up relying mostly on technology instead of magic.

She's not a knight and has no mask, because while many people depict all adult puffballs as masked knights (probably influenced by the Star Warriors from the K:RBAY anime) I personally don't think this has to be universal for their kind. How sad it would be if all they were destined for was fighting! ...And then I made her a warrior anyway. Oh well.

The darling would let out a low, disapproving sound in response, which C.C knew it was a request to wait until tomorrow for his milk.

"I only want to be close to your heart, Mother," He said, nuzzling into her chest and closing his eyes. As she tenderly fingercombed his long, silvery hair, her heart overflowed with joy and affection. The darling then felt a faint brush of fabric as a familiar Sephiroth doll snuggled against her neck. When she turned, she saw him lying peacefully beside her and C.C. She gave the doll a playful tickle and then, closing her eyes, letting out a content sigh as the night air filled her lungs.

-Surprisingly, the lady has a heart. Her love language is quality time. As long she spends time with you, she's satisfied. And it's a bonus if you entertain her in some kind of way.

-Get ready for arguments if you don't agree with her psychopathic tomfoolery. She'll ignore you and make call-out White Society meetings about you. If she's in the wrong, she'll get mad at you too but miss will be forced to apologise by Charles. And if he feels extra teasing, he may force her to do so with flowers.

-Wiltshire's kisses are… something. The young woman is very inexperimented, therefore most are sloppy. Not to mention she would never do it in public, so you might end up in a bathroom stall if she gets the spontaneous idea of making out.

PERFECT question bc i just got all this figured out yesterday hehegehehe. ok so he was born in a small town in georgia in the us, and he and his family moved to louisiana when he was around 5 years old. so he doesnt have many memories of his birthplace, just that they lived pretty close to a river that he and his brother were never allowed to play in. basically, no strong feelings one way or another. he would like to go back one day though,,, see if it's any more insane than the town he lives in now. dev LOVES being outside any chance she gets. sun, rain, snow, whatever she does Not care. she needs the fresh air or she'll go insane. despite the town being very busy, it's a lot quieter for her out there - lets her clear her mind and focus. she can see and communicate with ghosts, which usually isn't a problem because the ones she encounters are generally very polite, but sometimes it just gets a little Too Much and she needs to go somewhere with Life and Noise to drown it all out a bit.

honestly. more than anything else she just wants to hang out. have fun, take life one step at a time. there's no rush to get anywhere, she's taking every day as it comes. which i guess is very VERY easy for her bc the communicating with ghosts thing has a fun additional bonus of kind of sort of letting her see into the future. so. why rush to do anything. it'll happen when it happens [and 9 times out of 10 she knows exactly when that is] all that being said the 'predicting the future' thing is like, more of a side gig for her. brings in good money, she thinks it's fun. a little tiring at times, but fun. luckily she Does have an actual day job [that i have yet to decide on] so she doesnt have to drain herself 24/7

Top 5 favorite Riley stories or trivia

pls excuse me while i rant about my cat, just got unfortunate news and this will absolutely make me feel better so get ready for CAT TIME

at the time of this story, i'd had riley for exactly nine days. i made raspberry-lemonade cupcakes with raspberry frosting and left them in a container on the kitchen counter when i left the house. the lid wasn't locked on, just placed on top, but i didn't think anything of it. came home to find that the lid had been nudged away and two of the cupcakes had been munched on. this sweet little angel ATE MY CUPCAKES jfiowaefewa i took this photo as Evidence Of Her Crimes, it made me laugh so much, like what cat is out here eating raspberry cupcakes and why, riley u funky lil lady

a couple years ago, came home from getting lunch out somewhere and went to my room, only to spot riley huddled in my bathroom with her face stuck in the bottom corner of my bathroom vanity, refusing to move. she never sits like this, i thought it was odd, i went to investigate. she'd cornered a teeny little mouse in my bathroom and was holding him hostage in the corner until we got home and then she started meowing like "look what i did!! :)" she looked so proud of herself LOL and then she held him there and didn't let him run away while we went and got a mason jar to transport him out of the house, bestest girl

this cat loves catnip, but especially live catnip. mom planted some catnip plants in the yard and riley loves to go outside and plop herself right in the middle of them and roll around and just lay there in them. one of her favorite things to do, she'll stay there for so long. she looks SO HAPPY to be there, it makes my heart so warm :)

she has a little banana toy that's filled with dry catnip. this is perhaps her favorite toy. she loves to bat it around and hold it with her two front paws. also loves to lay her head down on it like it's a little pillow. she had two, brother's dog tore a hole in one when i wasn't looking, had to go hunt down another one for her bc she cannot be without her banana toy.

POMEGRANATE - Which myth would they relate to most?

For this...I must delve deep...and research...

For Ara it would have to be Prometheus, and the story of how he stole fire from the gods and returned it to mortals down below. In the myth, Zeus is angered that Prometheus has tricked him into allowing mortals to eat the meat of an ox (and future sacrificial creatures). Zeus steals fire from the mortals, and Prometheus endeavors to steal it back. He succeeds, but not without dire punishment.

Rat's favorite myth is the Chinese story of the Moon Rabbit, but one he relates too...? It's a bit difficult because myths are for heroes and he does not consider himself a hero. Though, lately, the story of Persephone and Hades has been on his mind.

JAM - Can they cook?

Ara - She can but she's not the best. She's really just perfected a few things for when Ruggie doesn't feel like cooking. But she had Jamil teach her one or two dishes so she can make something special every once in a while!

Rat - Rat actually cooks quite well, though his tastes are simple. Experimenting with new dishes makes him anxious so he can tend to be a bit repetitive. Later on the children prefer his breakfasts to their mother's though...

Of the kiddos, Falla can cook a few things but she doesn't really think about flavor she just basically is fueling her body so she can get back to working. She enjoys vegetable dishes the most. Gigi is an enthusiastic helper in the kitchen but also has started a fire every time she's tried to cook something on her own. Jamil has banned her from the kitchen in their palace. Kana knows a bit about flavor but she leaves the cooking to Ton who is probably the best in the family these days. Olivine grew up with his father and uncles to cook for him so he loves good food, but growing up mostly in the Coral Sea he isn't very experienced in cooking it. Asmina learned at her father's elbow and endeavors to be as good as him one day, though she's still learning and has a tendency to overseason things.

Bonus answer Thorn can char a squirrel corpse over a fire and make a thin stew and that's about it.

ROSE - What gift would they most wish to receive from a lover?

Ara and Rat have no clue. They still haven't quite wrapped their mind around 'having possessions'. Though one of Ara's most prized possessions is a stuffed animal that the boys had won her at some fair when they were in school...something small and frivolous like that, that doesn't serve a purpose but is just cozy and nice. For Rat, perhaps a pet of some kind. He loves animals but would never make the choice to get himself something.

Kit if you're asking for Olivine the answer is probably lingerie don't think too hard about it though she'll love whatever you get her.

Okay, but how cool would it have been if Legend of the Sea Devils hadn't ended with an 'old man who believes his time on earth is over hence sacrificing himself' ex machina? Just imagine.

As far as I understand, the thing the Doctor did - something with enhancing the density around them? - would not have killed anyone, just imprisoned them? So we could have had a nice cliffhanger - 'oh no, we can't leave after all' - and then an extra episode of what happened after they were forced to stay. With the sea devils. With freaking Madame Ching who didn't get enough to do in the episode anyway. With Yaz and the Doctor and their... thing.

So at the start there would have been a massive showdown between the Doctor and our favourite sea devil. (Or was he the one who died? I vote he didn't die.) A showdown à la 'you trapped us here!' 'you tried to flood the earth!' Basically sea devil dude threatening to kill the Doctor, her threatening to destroy him or leave him in his watery prison. And then someone *Madame Ching* making them accept they have to work together to get out. I would put all of this in the end of lotsd still.

I would also put the Doctor/Yaz beach talk into this episode. It's not a beach but sea floor so close enough. Just this time, when the Doctor says she can't fix herself and time runs out, Yaz can say that this time, it really won't. They are stuck there indefinitely. Fixed to this point on the ocean floor. When to commit to this if not now.

And the Doctor would probably need some time to accept this, to come round but she would hint that Yaz might be right, that maybe she'll be able to do this after all. Bonus point if Darillium gets referenced.

The Doctor should also point out to Yaz how great of a chance being stuck with the sea devils is actually for forging peace, so we can build up to the next episode.

We can also have Dan phone Di, I liked that scene. It would just be a little bitter sweet, with him not knowing if/when he'll get out.

AND THEN. The next episode. We'll skip to a few months later. The Doctor and a few sea devils are tirelessly working in the labs trying to free them but until now seemingly to no avail. The rest of the sea devils and the humans are working on a peace treaty. I am talking Hungry Earth but there actually is enough time to talk it through. Yaz and Dan make sure to listen to the sea devils, why they are upset, what needs they have to meet. It is exhausting and tiring, but they live in harmony now, they have started to trust each other and they are trying to come up with a plan that'll work once they get out.

And then there are the Doctor and Yaz. Finally resting at one place together. And it's not perfect, obviously. They are both stressed from their work that does not go swimmingly and there is still a lot unresolved between them. But we can see they have been together. We see them being domestic, we see them flirt, we see Yaz casually referring to the time Rose and the Doctor thought they got stuck forever or saying something about the Master or Tecteun and we understand the Doctor has told her some things at least. (we might get a thasmin kiss, at least on the cheek? Or some nice weaving sea lilies into each other's hair or something. Pet names? )

And we see that there is some sort of tension there that is new. The Doctor is sort of snappish towards Yaz, and it surprises Yaz, so this must be a recent development. Dan (who has totally been adopted by Madame Ching, that pirate lad and some sea devils) notices, of course. And immediately confronts the Doctor. Maybe she tries to deny it at first, but eventually he finds out that she knows how to get them out of the density bubble. They ARE free already, she just hasn't told anyone and is stalling.

Because for once it doesn't feel like time is running out. For once she could allow herself to be with Yaz. And she knows she will lose all that the moment they leave. Time is catching up. She would lose Yaz. She can't let that happen but at the same time she can't stay there. The universe needs the Doctor and she is 100% going stir crazy (plus she is effectively keeping everyone prisoner) . So that is why she is taking it out on Yaz and why she is pushing her away again. Because this can't last and she shouldn't want it to but she does.

And then Dan doesn't know what to do, but he knows they have to leave. (Also he has a date with Di that they need to get out for. Because I love Dan and if I am writing an episode he is getting everything he craves) So he tells the Doctor to let Yaz know otherwise he would do it. They can keep it a secret from the sea devils until the peace treaty is signed, but Yaz has to hurry that up.

And then we need some angst because this is dw, so a sea devil overhears the conversation. The sea devils are enraged and peace threatens to fail and the humans are angry as well and probably both parties suspect the other to have known already. And Yaz understands the Doctor has kept vital information from her again. Things are starting to escalate and the Doctor tries to save the peace and apologise to Yaz and everything starts falling apart and they are trying to force the Doctor to let them go NOW but she tries to make them stay for the peace treaty at least.

And then probably Yaz or Dan or Madame Ching or that lad just pulls the switch and they are free. And probably they just part ways without anything resolved. And Yaz is angry with the Doctor and Dan and the Doctor panics because time can catch up now and she pulls away from Yaz again.

And then probably the Doctor would need to go after the sea devils to make sure they don't destroy the earth. And it would probably end very embarrassingly and unsatisfactory with the sea devils telling her bluntly they learned during their time in the density bubble. The Doctor does her usual grand speech of 'this planet is protected' and they shut her up. They won't start a war on the land, they will stay hidden and reclaim the ocean far away from humans. They changed, they evolved, they don't mean to hurt anyone more than necessary. They have learnt not to be selfish. All things that the Doctor failed to understand as they point out. And then they leave.

... And we would end up where we are now, just with a little bit more of a development between the Doctor and Yaz and the Doctor and the Sea Devils and without sacrificing someone without real consequences as if 'I haven't met anyone who wasn't important' didn't exist.

I know there might not be enough plot in this to carry a whole episode. And we would definitely need to involve Madame Ching more. But I just think. With everything the Doctor said on the beach. How grand would it be to trap her somewhere WITH Yaz for once?

Plus I really don't like this sacrifice thing that is treated as a good development.

*bangs pan* Baked goods baked goods baked goods! Her favorite snacks are usually cookies, muffins, or cupcakes. All-time favorite being mini carrot cake and creme cheese muffins. Anything that can be grabbed on the go for maximum snackage. When she's down she usually will make something simple for herself, food-wise. Even just a loaf of fresh bread, some cheese, and a couple of apples. When anyone else is down though she'll bust out the buffet!

Ruby has a love hate relationship with stews. She really likes how complex she can get the flavors with herbs and letting it cook a long time. However, she's always sneaking a taste to see if it's done just right. And stews take longer so it's Impatient Ruby Hours. Yes, it's supposed to be cooking all day slowly but also she is Hungry and needs it done Now thank you.

She is a great chef and great baker, I would say even better at baking than just standard cooking. It's how she conveys affection to people she cares for - she makes them food!

Bonus for comedy, the only thing she refuses to cook is KALE. It's bitter for her taste, too tough (or if you cook it until it's edible it's then mushy) and one time her fernhound Aaren ate a whole head of it and then was sick all over the place. No kale is allowed in her kitchen (Riag sneaks it in to annoy her and promptly gets chased out with a wooden spoon or ladle)

Ruby is a hugger. She hugs her friends, family and pets. She's inclined to hug strangers but knows from Riag that some people aren't as open to it so will ask beforehand. She's far better at giving affection than receiving it - so being hugged by others sometimes short circuits her. Her show of affection is acts of service - mainly cooking! And also trying to help with things.

He'd been on the road for eight months now.

He was grateful of all the success the Rollerband was getting; a worldwide sold-out tour, thousands of records sold, a renewed signing contract for another three years. He knew he was lucky, and he couldn't deny it.

Career-wise, he was happy, living his rock-star dream. His personal life was a whole different thing.

They say distance makes the heart grow fonder. And it was true, honestly. If he thought he loved his girlfriend before, he knew for sure now that he was ten thousand kilometers away. However, what they don't tell you, it's how hard it can get when such a distance is formed. He hadn't talked to Ámbar, like really talked, in two months.

Their relationship had gotten to an only-texting communication, with hello's and goodnight's texts received every day. The phone calls had reduced to once a week, if that.

It hadn't started that way, though. The first three months consisted of daily three-hours-long video calls, with the occasional visit if uni and her schedule allowed her, then they passed to a one-hour daily cellphone call... now they were lucky they even remembered to put 'i love you' at the end of their texts.

He didn't like it, not one bit. He knew where they were leading; he'd seen it first with Jim and Nico years ago (which was a reason he tried not to date anyone seriously), and then a few months later with Delfi and Pedro. Simón didn't want that for Ámbar and himself.

He checked the time; almost midnight where he was, so it'd only be around 7 PM in Buenos Aires. Her uni classes ended at three, so either she was at the J&R or doing homework.

Deciding he didn't have anything to lose, he pressed 'call' on his phone. Five rings later, she picked up, her beaming face appearing on his screen. Gosh, how he'd missed her.

"Aló, Simón?!" Her voice sounded a little breathy, but overall excited. He had to smile when he heard her. "How are you? I miss you," she sighed wistfully on the other side of the line. The hand she wasn't using to hold the phone went to her hair, twirling a lock away from her face.

"I miss you too," Simón answered, a small smile gracing his lips, "I'm coming home soon, only a couple of weeks more, little gem."

"It feels like too long, but at least it's sooner than eight months," she mumbled, sighing again, "how's Spain? Didn't you have a show tonight?"

"Spain's great, full of life," he remembered the crowd, screaming and singing along, "the show ended an hour ago. I'm feeling a little homesick, I guess," he admitted, "I wish I was there with you."

"Don't," she reprimanded him, shaking her head a little, "you'll be here soon, enjoy tour life while you can."

"That's the thing... I'm not enjoying it anymore." Ámbar went still at this. If it weren't for the tenue sound of music she was listening on her side and that he could hear through the phone, he'd have thought it's freezed on him; when he realized that wasn't the case, he continued. "It's been too long. I miss our bed, I miss waking up next to you, hugging you, kissing you... I miss our dog and I miss our friends. This life... it feels so empty, little gem." He wasn't ashamed to say he was close to tears. He loved touring, giving concerts in different parts of the world, meeting fans all over the globe... those were heavy pros. Simón just wished he'd have more time for his family.

"Don't think like that, Simón, please." She begged him, the little tremble in her voice gave away her emotions, her face had barely moved. Simón knew it was more for his sake than for hers. "I miss you too, so much it hurts sometimes. But this is your dream, love, this is what you've worked so hard for; don't let homesickness stop you from finding joy in what you love the most."

"I'll try, I promise I will. I just... I don't know..."

"I get it, I'm the same sometimes. But you must understand; we're not them, Simón." Her voice turned softer, understanding, and soothing. He loved that about her, that she seemed to know what to say and how to say it without a prompt given. "Do you know why they didn't work out? It's not because they loved each other less, or because the distance was too much. It was the pressure of feeling that if they weren't near each other, if they didn't talk to the other 24/7, their bond would break. It was too much, and it ended up leaving them strained."

"Is this your way of telling me you don't want to talk to me anymore?" he joked, his smile growing as she rolled her eyes.

"You're an idiot." She deadpanned, changing her position on the bed to recline her back on their bedrest. "Seriously, though, do you get what I'm saying?"

"Yes, love. I know I shouldn't care too much about how much we talk as it does not define our relationship but what can I say? I miss you." She grinned at him.

"I miss you, too. I'm always a call away," she promised him, but then she frowned, "unless I'm at class, then sorry, you'll have to talk to my voicemail."

He laughed, "I see how it is, a boring class is way more important than funny me. How's everything over there? How's my princess?"

"Always." She winked at him. "Everything's fine. I had lunch with my mom today, she made mushroom lasagna, I told her already that mushrooms taste like nothing, but she swears they're flavorful; I might go visit my dad tomorrow as well; he's been bugging me about having dinner with him and his family," he absentmindedly scrunched his nose at the mention of the fungi, he hated them, "Toppy is here, I can put you on speaker so you can talk to her, if you want. I can't promise she'll answer, though, she's been giving me an attitude lately."

"An attitude? You're rubbing on her, aren't you? When I get home, I'll come back to two Ámbar's instead of one." He teased her, earning a huff from his girl. "Let me talk to her, I bet she doesn't even recognize my voice anymore."

"You've always been her favorite, she will." She replied softly, and then it was quiet for a couple of seconds, while she took off the earphones' plug from her phone. "Okay, you're on speaker now. Toppy, babe, come greet daddy." Simón waited until he heard a 'thud' – followed by Ámbar adjusting her phone's camera so he could see both his girl and their pet- to speak again.

"Toppy?" Not a sound.

Before he could get sad he got no response, Ámbar spoke. "She's smelling my phone, talk again." She sounded amused, so Simón complied, cheerier this time.

"How's my favorite puppet doing? I heard you're giving mommy a bit of trouble. What happened to my good girl?" He wasn't done with his first question when the barking started, his pup's little whines sounded almost as if she was reprimanding his absence.

"She's missed you." His girlfriend exclaimed over the barking, chuckling at the way Toppy's tail swat rapidly.

"I miss her too." He sighed again, "I miss you both a lot."

"Just a few more weeks." She reminded him, her smile and tone wistful as she tried to contain the pup's wriggling body. He had to smile at that.

"Just a few more weeks." He echoed, the underlying promise loud to their ears. "I love you."

"I love you too." She paused for a second, before speaking again, "now please go to sleep, you look like you died a week ago." Simón laughed at that, but he knew better than to fight her when she was trying to take care of him.

"I'll call you tomorrow, alright?"

His words were met with a grin. "Not if I text you first. I love you so much, Simón."

"I love you more, little gem. Take care, okay? I'll see you as soon as I can." She sent him a kiss through the phone, before disconnecting the call. He stared at the screen for a couple of minutes, before the 'low battery' notification popped up and he had to charge it. The call left him feeling much better, so he decided to go to bed already.

Just a few more weeks ran like a mantra trough his mind, soothing his fears and anxiety. Just a few more weeks and I'll be home.

Going in blind: Watching season 2 for the first time. Random thoughts.

Huh. Only 7 episodes. Not complaining necessarily. For series with an ongoing plot I've definitely become more in favor with their seasons only having as many episodes as they need rather than them having to stretch themselves out to full up a certain number of episodes, which can lead to padding and just bad character moments.

Episode 1: Jeez. Catra visiting Shadow Weaver's cell just to rub her success in her face and verbally abuse her back for once. It's like a twisted version of Zuko and Ozai from ATLA. Catra's upbringing under her was abusive but this is far from a healthy way for her to deal with it. She's basically deliberately swimming in her resentment.

Episode 2: It's not that I'm rooting for her but by-golly was it fun to watch Catra act like just the absolute worst she could while she was Glimmer and Bow's captive.

I touched on this in season 1 but part of the drama of the heroes feeling guilt over leaving Entrapta behind is kind of lost on me a bit simply because it was her own fault it happened. She deliberately went back into the purge room because of her machine obsession, which then closed on her and erupted in flames. It was more than reasonable to assume she was dead and no one but her was to blame, so I'm not really able to be invested in their guilt over it.

That said, weirdly enough I do like that her "abandonment" doesn't seem to be even a blip on the radar for Entrapta herself. She hasn't joined the horde because she resents the heroes or felt left behind, she simply is so obsessed with machines and experimentation that she'll be on the side of whoever lets her do the most of that. Like, it's selfish and irresponsible but it's very in-character and I'd far rather have a traitor motivation be based in that over something stupid like a misunderstanding.

Episode 3: I love the mental image of Shadow Weaver thinking up princess-themed ghost stories to tell Adora as a child.

So, if the previous She-Ra Mara separated Eternia from the other realms/planets/whatever she did and that's what cut off the She-Ra line for 1000 years, I'm guessing Hordak may be from the time before that happened, thus his drive to create portals and calling Eternia a backwards world. Either he's naturally long-lived or his technology is extending his life.

Episode 4: You know, you could maybe argue it was vague enough that it could be taken other ways but I'm definitely getting some vibes here that Scorpia is crushing on Catra. She literally refers to the two of them as soulmates at one point. I know she says she's trying to be friends but this feels a level beyond that.

Fun little reference to the original She-Ra cartoon thrown in there (and maybe Cowboy Bebop...? James Bond...? What was Glimmer's art style supposed to be?). I like how it is more like just playful ribbing than anything outright dumping on the original. Again, I've never seen original She-Ra but whenever remakes/adaptations go out of their way to trash to the original I always kind of wonder why they bothered doing an adaptation if the original is just that bad? Also, I was having trouble sleeping so it was about 2am when I watched this episode and the very Eartha Kitt Catwoman Catra made it very difficult for me not to lose my **** and stay quiet. With how much of a contrast that version is from the one in this series, that was hilarious. Bonus note, it's a nice touch that Frosta's version of Catra is a pretty crasher in that sweet suit, since that's the only impression of Catra she's ever had.

Adora being a chosen one is definitely elevated up simply by how much the pressure of what she's supposed to be is getting to her. I'm likely going to keep making Avatar The Last Airbender comparisons throughout the series but that's partly because I went into this series figuring it'd be at least structured similar to ATLA (season 1 being more episodic and a little more kid-friendly as it builds up the world before getting more serious later). Adora and Aang are interesting to compare here. Aang's worries early on were less apparent because he was more in-denial/choosing not to think about his problems that much, which fit with his character as a free-spirited Air Nomad. While Adora is much more military-minded. She can't keep herself from thinking about her problems and trying to prepare for the worst-case scenario. And jeez, that idea of who/how Catra is in her mind. Not only beating her but making her watch as she takes everything she cares about away. Not Shadow Weaver, not Lord Hordak, but Catra. That whole Lion King Mufasa/Scar moment between them in episode 11 and their fight in the S1 finale really did a number on her mental image of her old friend. Not reasonably so.

Minor note: I'm sure I'm the only one who got this impression but by the look of it, the way the robot's eye moved, and the music, after getting the soda spilled on it that little spybot gained sentience for half a second and then immediately died. It was so darkly comedic I had to laugh.

Episode 5: So that red disc is basically She-Ra's Red Kryptonite, having an effect on the mind rather than the body. The drunk Adora joke doesn't really do it for me but it did get some nice interactions going between Scorpia and Sea Hawk, two characters I certainly wasn't expecting to bond. I did really like Catra's panic when berserker She-Ra nearly beheads her. The implication is that is Adora really wanted to kill her Catra would already probably be dead. It's a thing I like about powerhouse characters like Superman or Aang, who could just demolish everything around them and don't simply because they're a good person...which in turn makes them the scariest person on the planet when they're well and truly ticked off. I'm not going to lie, I do kind of want to see a She-Ra version of Aang when Appa was stolen or when Superman fought The Elite.

Also, Catra's line of "I have control over Adora. I'm not giving that up for anything.". There's a lot to read into there.

Episode 6: I guess my prediction was sort of right. Shadow Weaver became basically a magic parasite and while it did increase the power she's capable of the implication seems to be that she needs a constant fix of magic to keep herself going, thus her attachment to the Black Garnet.

Have we seen Micah before? Given how long ago the flashback seems set, the fact that Shadow Weaver didn't kill him and thus he probably becomes someone important later in life, I'm guessing he's Glimmer's dad and the queen's late husband, since I think he's the only important male character whose face we haven't seen yet. Also, he's voice by Ezra from Star Wars Rebels and that cracks me up for some reason. It's the exact same voice and a relatively similar character.

I compared Catra and Shadow Weaver with a kind of twisted version of Zuko and Ozai and that definitely still fits here. Both Catra and Zuko confront their parent and call them out for the inexcusable abuse they put them through but while that moment was the start of Zuko's upwards journey this and SW's betrayal seems like it's going to cause Catra to spiral even further. Makes sense why Adora leaving affected her so much. She's probably the only one Catra's ever had that she could consistently trust and rely on, even if she did somewhat resent her.

Not surprised Hordak is getting along with Entrapta. She's not socially aware enough to be scared or intimidated by him, so she'll speak frankly, and since all she wants to talk about is the machines, experiments, and how they could get them to work Hordak probably doesn't take much issue with that. She's producing results, which is what he cares about, thus also why Shadow Weaver and Catra started losing favor with him. I wonder if Catra is going through imposter syndrome? Shadow Weaver had that line that Entrapta earned her place next to Hordak and, if you think about it, Catra hasn't really "earned" anything. We saw that she didn't really take her training or studies that seriously, showing up late to combat practice and even getting partial credit for what Adora beat. She wasn't promoted to Force Captain because of her own abilities but because Adora had defected when she was supposed to get that title. She's come close to a few victories but never really had any except for Glimmer and Bow's kidnapping...whom she then basically let escape when she returned Adora's sword to her. She doesn't have the slightest clue how the horde's bureaucracy works when trying to get things done, like simply getting troops armor. Given how much better than her Adora always was and how little she herself has to her name, I wonder is subconsciously Catra believes she doesn't deserve her current position and thus why she's fretting so much over trying to prove herself.

Episode 7: Am I mistaken or did Bow's parents say that he's the youngest of TWELVE siblings? I was going to ask whether Bow was adopted or if his dad's used a surrogate or if maybe there's even just simply magic in She-Ra's world that allows two people of the same sex to have a child together but now I'm just focused on the 12 kids thing. I get nervous just imagining myself having more than one. You should see me when I'm with two cats. I have to pet both of them because I'd feel like I'd be making one feel left out and like the other is the favorite. I'm a mess with kids.

The dad with dreadlocks (Lance?), his design looked familiar to me and I finally realized it reminded me a of a fanart design for a human Grim from The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. Very different voices between those two characters though.

I wonder if there's any significance to the robot protecting the crystal having the same design as those in the artic in episode 5? Obviously both have the connection to the First Ones but the robot in the forest who was also protecting First Ones' tech had a more insect-like design over these more worm/Graboid ones.

I'm kind of curious what Hordak would have done if Catra had told the truth. Given his interactions with her and Shadow Weaver he doesn't seem like the time to tolerate failure but I suppose the implication here is that he at least would respect those who own up to their failures. Or I suppose more simply he was just testing to see if she would lie to him and since she did there's little merit in keeping her in a position of authority anymore where she could lie about important things again.

Season 2 verdict: Still enjoying it. Another person on this reddit recommended I view seasons 2 and 3 as one since they are basically just one season split in two. I was going to do that but this ended up longer than I thought I would, so I'll just do 2 and 3 separate to keep them semi-organized and easier to read.

I think overall Catra is my favorite character since she has the most interesting backstory, interactions, and just general path through the story out of everyone. She's like Pearl from Steven Universe or, well, Zuko. There's just so much baggage there that she's trying and kind of failing to deal with. I'm always invested in whatever's happening when she's onscreen. Hordak so far is a good big boss villain for Adora to face but Catra is a good archenemy for her.

Bonus: Sarso, Aru and Ralika, ft. Zet and Tia.

Sarso totally gets into fights but spends most of the time just being a mess, singing, screaming and buying drinks for everyone and end up sitting on a corner, petting the local cat/dog and telling dad jokes.

Rakija just opens up, gets twice as sarcastic and grumpy, has no filter and just makes sures Sarso doesn't die of alcohol poisoning, despite herself taking a shot of everything that can knock out a moose.

Aru can't drink, not old enough by human standards. In her home planet she was allowed to do so but only one cup, leave her alone.

Tia would totally keep drinking until the bartender insist on serving her water, yet, she'll be the most responsable of the group and be that one friend who makes you feel better when you're crying on the bathroom and will punch your abusive ex while telling you that you deserve betteer.

Zet's a happy drunk, telling jokes and making sure you don't die, yet, he'll pass at some point. That's all, he's the nice one who gets twice as wholesome when drunk, and also looses some braincells while at it.

The gang when drunk:

Laelhan: obvlivious drunk. There's a fight going on? No big deal, someone's on fire? Not her problem, the world's about to end? Couldn't care less, she'll keep drinking until she passes out.

Brieche: endless ranting. Maybe a little bit of a sarcastic drunk but mostly the ranting type, he won't make much sense and it's hard to get him to be semi coherent but he ain't planning to shut up.

Iure: feral. Completely, absolutely, feral, will throw punches, acept stupid challenges, flirt with half the bar and she won't stop drinking until she end up in the hospital or wakes up in a puddle of her own vomit.
