what i like especially about the pronouns in the goblin emperor is that this language doesn't just have the T-V distinction (aka informal vs. formal second-person pronouns, in this case 'thou' vs. 'you'), it also has informal and formal first-person pronouns. having BOTH of these distinctions in the same language lets you fine-tune your tone by mixing and matching. with only one axis of formality, when you use informal pronouns, are you being familiar in an intimate way, or in an insolent or dismissive way? when you use formal pronouns, are you being polite or standoffish? you can't tell just from the pronouns; there's ambiguity. but a language where you can use a formal first-person pronoun in the same sentence as an informal second-person pronoun allows you to distance yourself (via the formal first) while also being familiar (via the informal second), thereby achieving the conversational tenor known to linguists as Fuck Thee Specifically.

I think the other really frustrating thing about Ohio is that Issue 1 was NOT well advertised (in my area there was like one commercial explaining why you should vote yes, and I only started seeing it like a week and a half ago) and it was intentionally written on the ballot with verbiage so convoluted and misleading my dad and I were both questioning which way we needed to vote after reading it, and then had to do a fair bit of googling to determine that ‘yes’ was the vote best in alignment with our values. If something is confusing and misleading to me, a person who is college educated, how must it have read to people in parts of the state that do not have the same access to education? How many people didn’t understand what they were voting for because it wasn’t in any way made clear to us.

just want everyone who insists on posting about voting 20x a day that instead of arguing with people on here you could have a conversation with 3 people you know personally and ask them if they are planning to vote, and if they arent, if there's anything you can do to make it easier.

voter turnout for ANY election is usually abysmal and despite what this website would have you believe, most of those people are not leftists making a choice to refuse to vote. it's people who work that day or can't drive to the polling station or don't keep up with politics and therefore don't feel like they know enough to vote. it's people who need someone to watch their kids or their pets. it's people who don't have the right ID and don't know how to go about fixing that before election day. people who straight up forgot when election day even was. and if someone tells you they're refusing to vote for political reasons for the love of god stop wasting your time trying to sway them when you could spend that time helping people who WOULD vote if they felt they could. and even among those who don't want to vote, people who are apathetic vastly outnumber those taking a principled stance of some kind (obviously not great, but it's way easier to have a productive conversation with someone you know personally who just isn't that engaged in electoral politics, than it is to attempt to argue with someone who is a stranger and who has completely made up their mind and attached moral and political value to that choice).

if you want more people to vote, go and actually speak to your community directly and offer to fucking help. ask if they plan to vote. if they say no, ask why. actually listen to the answer. and then try to help in whatever way you can. and then rest easy knowing you have already done more than literally any post about voting on this webbed site

So, apparently, the Department of Health and Social care has been running a consultation about the future of the NHS for the past couple of months.

News to me and possibly to you, if you're in the UK and have missed this due to the overwhelming amount of Events Transpiring at the moment. According to We Own It, the consultation closes on Monday 2nd December, so I would strongly encourage anyone in the UK to either go fill out the consultation ASAP (this requires creating an account since they're outsourced the website, because of course they have; you can alter email settings from the account menu) or to use We Own It's form to send an email straight to the head of the NHS.

I don't know to what extent responding will help push back against Wes Streeting and the rest of the privatisation ghouls, but given they appear to be taking the "in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard'" approach to civil engagement, any actual response from the public will likely be a pain in their necks. So please, if you have the time and spoons, go forth and tell them your views.

People keep trying to get megumi to date his aunt instead so they can produce children. His aunt is a mean lesbian. He does not want to date his aunt. He super doesn’t want kids with her. He wants to date this kind himbo who is Strong and Fast. Legitimately yuuji ends up with a bounty on him on one of those sorcerer assassin websites, but the bounty is so low that it offends Sukuna on a profound level, who feels he specifically is worth more. Not yuuji obviously. Fuck that kid. But he’s a package deal and he’s worth so much fucking more.
