my connection to the german national team has certainly changed as my attachment to hertha grows stronger BUT the song “moonrise kingdom” by angel haze just brings me back to the sheer devotion i have felt for that team and the weird messy hard times we’ve been though in the last few years. especially “they think they’re saving you/they think they’re saving you.... you gotta run! or they’ll catch us and stop us from growing/you gotta run. hold my love in your heart and keep going” and one of the last lines hits me especially regarding my recent feelings for the team: “I hope you learn to fall in love again”

#ooh boy i need to divulge my feelings about this bc i have many #man the gnt was what got me into football and all the feelings associated with it #i've NEVER watched a hertha game with other people before (partly my fault the year i was there but i wasn't such a big fan yet)#but germany... those games i watched with people!! and its so fun to be with people! and watch a game! i feel so lonely here sometimes lol #but yeah the gnt was my connection to summers in berlin and berlin in general #but then hertha is so much more... berlin! and so much more connected with people and community than the gnt is really #so it fills that need way more than the gnt does...#and its so funny to hear german hertha fans talk about the gnt... its a big joke to them now #and of course its they're NT... they have a connection to it whether they like it or not (not emotional connection just like superficially)#(i say that as a complete lack of fan of the USA MNT... despite that i still feel a connection to the team as an idea but that could be über #patriotism as an american thats drilled into me idk)#anyway ANYWAY what i'm trying to say #is that my emotional connection to the GNT will never fully go away for reasons but it doesn't compare to hertha now!#if you read this congrats you made it through some very rambly ramblings #but i have no one else to talk to this about so BOOM on my football tumblr :D
