days 1 and 2 of @noxwithoutstars coining event, ‘pastel colors’ and ‘space’! i didn’t have time to do the first day yesterday since i was moving out of my dorm for the summer, but the rest of the terms will be posted on their respective days. the first term is a pastel version of chromarian!

flag id: the left flag is made to look like a paint or makeup palette. it has a very dark grey background, a black rectangle that is nearly the size of the entire flag in the center, and six evenly-spaced rounded squares arranged into two rows of three in the center of that rectangle. the squares, clockwise from the top left, are pastel red, pastel orange, pastel yellow, pastel green, pastel blue, and pastel purple.

Me n Don were talking abt Mari being more aquatic and we thought of @/pastellian’s version of donnie where there is a second mutation

Mari would get mutated on accident in Draxum’s destroyed lab or smthn and after being in contact with a pig nosed turtle, it increased turtle tendencies and aquatic abilities.

The mutation would be gradual over a span of a week.

What is VOX?

VOX, or Voice Operated Switch for short, is the new name for PSI due to the game’s rebranding. Of course, what would a mother game be without psychic kids and psychic powers? VOX is the exact same thing as PSI, with a few small differences here and there. Disclaimer: I am just reporting information from today’s AMA, and I am in no way affiliated with the team. Just a big fan! 

Here are few answers to some questions:

Well, why is it called VOX?

The team wants to base it around radio broadcasts. According to Pastellian,

“The idea is that the broadcaster’s voice switches the ambient ‘nothing’ to ‘something,’ like fire or electricity.”

So they’ll be throwing phrases around such as “VOX Fire!”, we assume.

Why change it?

According to Pastellian,

“The reason here is that PK Fire or even a synonym like PK Blaze would be asking for trouble. This way we can also integrate the story into the abilities, rather than having to work the abilities into the story. It's more natural for world building this way.”

Are there any new VOX moves?

There is! Pastellian mentioned one named “Radio Filter”, which is said to remove special effects from battle (stat buffs/debuffs, shields, etc,.). Most new VOX moves will affect the “climate” of the battle, like stat modification.

What are Receivers and Transmitters?

They are both potential terms for types of psychics in the Mother 4 universe. “Receivers” are telepaths, like Travis! They “receive” radio waves/telepathic messages. “Transmitters” are your regular psychics, like Meryl and Leo.

So far, we only know that Travis is a receiver due to his telepathy. Meryl and Leo are transmitters. We also don’t really know what Meryl’s future sight would be called. Yet.

Can we expect some angst regarding VOX? Thinking about Travis being a “receiver” and all, it must be hard to hear noise all the time.

I sure hope so, but at the same time, I don’t want Travis to be too hurt. Poor kid probably has a headache all the time.
