Lina had been dreaming of starting a band long before high school. In 2005, she transferred high schools, where she met, Emily, Tae, and Patti. Ben became friends with all of them in May of 2006. In August of 2007, Patty and Lina began to date.

Fangs of Pearl as a band formed in the summer of 2006, and spent most of their early years playing in Emily's newly renovated garage. In the beginning, they didn't exactly record a whole lot of music, as it was too expensive. They mainly played covers of their favourite songs. During senior year, they didn't play together as much due to the stress of exams, and (unbeknownst to the Fangs) Ben's involvement in the Kira investigation. Fast forward to June of 2016, Fangs of Pearl releases their first album, the cover of which was photographed by Emily, and edited/stylized by Ben and Tae. They are now quite popular in Chicago's punk scene.

Their sound is reminiscent of bands like Hole, Meet Me @ The Altar, Paramore, Bikini Kill, and Lunachicks, with elements of gothic rock.

Dwelling in Hope

Studio Montclair is delighted to present its first exhibit devoted exclusively to photography, “Dwelling in Hope.” Dwelling In Hope through December 12, 2024 Leach Gallery 641 Bloomfield Avenue Montclair, NJ. Delving into a topic that is foremost in our minds today for a multitude of reasons, the show conveys images expressing the concept of finding hope within the familiar, everyday aspects of our lives. Works are comprised of images that, according to Juror Joel Morgovsky, “are meaningful…because they are ABOUT something, not just pictures OF something…Some artists used patriotic references, while others found spiritual resonances. Many depicted the hope they found in relationships, while others illustrated optimism that supports recovery, resilience, and perseverance.” Several artists also depicted the natural world including horticulture, clearly symbolizing anticipation for future seasons. Images depict a variety of venues ranging from individual homes to the larger community, encompass single individuals, interpersonal events, or natural surroundings, and portray symbols of refuge and possibility along with esoteric imagery that conveys the theme of hope. Loretta Bienn (Young) Bruce, age 86, of Greenbrier, Tennessee, went into the presence of her Savior on November 3, 2023.

Mrs. Bruce was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, February 15,1937 to Elmer and Zora Young. After graduating from Cheyenne High School, she attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina, where she met her husband, John Frank Bruce of Eatonton, Georgia. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in education in 1959 and married that same year.

Frank and Loretta went on to have two children, Brent Milan and Brian Scott Bruce. In 1964, the couple moved to Nashville, Tennessee, when a church in the Madison area called Frank to be their pastor. A year later, he with a group of other men, started Calvary Bible Church.

Mrs. Bruce taught at Bellshire Elementary School from 1967-69. It was during this time that she and her husband felt called to start a Christian school in the area, so in 1969, Pioneer Christian Academy was founded. Dr. and Mrs. Bruce dedicated their lives to this ministry for thirty-three years. The Bruces retired in 2002 and moved to Eatonton, Georgia where they lived for sixteen years.

In 2018 they returned to Tennessee to be near their sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Loretta is preceded in death by her husband, John Frank Bruce and by her parents, Elmer and Zora Young.

She is survived by her sister, Bertha Hawk (Thomas) of Pennsylvania, her sons Brent (Patricia) and Brian (Pamela), nine grandchildren -Shaun Durden, Ashton Lee (Michael), Zachary Bruce (Morgan), Benjamin Bruce (Nicole), Kaitlyn Ramirez (Chris), Ethan Bruce (Ashley), Lauren Durden, Bailey Godfrey (Kyle), and Autumn Bruce, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Her life verse was Proverbs 3:5-6. "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not until thine own understanding. In all they ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

The visitation will be at Harvest Baptist Church November 8, 2023 from 9 am to 10 am, funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at Harvest Baptist Church, Eatonton, GA Rev. Chad Crawford presiding.

Disney Sets Series Premiere Alert For Firebuds For Wednesday, Sept. 21, on Disney Junior and Disney+.

Disney has responded the call of “Firebuds,” an animated comedy-adventure series from Disney Television Animation  featuring a team of young first responders and their talking vehicle sidekicks, premieres September 21st, with a simulcast on Disney Channel and Disney Junior (10:30 a.m. EDT). An initial batch of episodes will premiere the same day on on-demand platforms and Disney+.

Set in a fantastical world where talking vehicles live, work and play with the humans who drive them, “Firebuds” follows a boy named Bo and his fire engine best friend Flash as they team up with their first responder friends to help others in their community with problems big and small. Each episode is comprised of two 11-minute stories that showcase the importance of teamwork, helping fellow citizens and volunteerism. The creative team worked with consultants from RespectAbility to help populate the diverse communities of Gearbox Grove and Motopolis featured in the series.

Firebuds is Created By Craig Gerber the series’ creative team consists of Matt Hoverman as story editor, Francis Giglio as art director, and Robb Pratt and Craig Simpson as supervising director and producer, respectively. Krystal Banzon, Leanna Dindal, Norma Sepulveda, Jeremy Shipp and Alyssa Stratton comprise the writing team, and the episodic directors are Kris Wimberly and Julius Aguimatang.Emmy Award-nominated Beau Black is the series songwriter, and Emmy Award winner Frederik Wiedmann is composer. “Firebuds” is produced by Disney Television Animation and is Disney TVA’s 92 series overall.

Planned extensions for the series include “Disney Junior Music: Firebuds” digital soundtrack from Walt Disney Records, debuting Sept. 16, and storybooks from Disney Publishing releasing later next year. Spin Master is the North American toy licensee for the series and will debut an innovative toy line featuring vehicles, figures, playsets and more, launching in summer 2023. 

Additionally, Bo and Flash will be featured in the upcoming “Disney Junior Live On Tour: Costume Palooza,” launching Sept. 2, with stops at more than 80 North American cities throughout 2022.

The lead voice cast includes Declan Whaley as Bo, Terrence Little Gardenhigh as Flash, Vivian Vencer as Violet, Lily Sanfelippo as Axl, JeCobi Swain as Jayden, and Caleb Paddock as Piston. Lou Diamond Phillips and Yvette Nicole Brown also star as co-fire chiefs, Chief Bill Bayani and Chief Faye Fireson, respectively.
